(Dined 11/03/23 FR @ 9:00am): Let's park first, and then eat at this restaurant!
I've driven by Eat 'N Park Restaurant countless times at this busy intersection of Victory Blvd. and Buena Vista St. as I went from one rental property to another, shopped at the Ralphs across the street, and did some banking in the U.S. Bank located inside the Ralphs. For years, I've been intrigued by the bold statement on its marquee, "Best Omelettes In Burbank". https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QgK65ADiDMgN15bhhY2B6w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw So, when someone suggested this spot for our party of five to hang out and caught up with each other over breakfast, I was stoked to finally test their proclamation. Would I park and eat here again after this experience!?
PURCHASE
Large Orange Juice ($3.95): A load of Vitamin-C to start the day and kept scurvy away, this was a lovely drink, but I only wished it had some juicy pulp bits. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=84GzhXuz2mQwZP-9EajLGw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw
Mediterranean Omelette w/Hash Brown ($17.95): A single serving made with olives, peppers, tomatoes, and topped with feta cheese, this was a large portion thoroughly stuffed with aforementioned ingredients. However, the omelette was noticeably dry, lacked fluffiness, and was light on flavor which led me to repeatedly douse it with Tapatio. The hash brown was also a hearty portion with a lovely crispy crunchy exterior but also lacked some flavor https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=omvHbzFDIE2iKX_BY9oFyw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw
2pc Sourdough Bread (COMP): You actually had a choice of several options, I loved me some sour bread! Served with what I believed to be whipped butter, there also were some jam & jelly packets... sadly no marmalade. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QyJIhx7W4elMihmq2d1rHA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw
SERVICE
I was running late due to traffic, so I easily joined my friends who already grabbed an outdoor patio table. Minutes later, a tandem female and male servers were ready to take mine and everyone's orders. We first started with drinks, which arrived shortly afterwards. Eventually, we placed our food orders, and within ten minutes a succession of plates came out and placed at our table. We were periodically checked on, our water glasses filled, empties removed, and ultimately the check was left with no sense of feeling rushed to pay. The attention was greatly appreciated - thank you!
PARKING (FREE)
They had their own private medium-sized lot which was where I parked. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of free street parking along the main drag of Victory Blvd. and all surrounding side streets - 'nuff said.
ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE
A sizable building from the outside, I never got to see the inside of the restaurant. However, the spacious covered outdoor patio with its multiple tables was lovely on this warm day as we watched the world pass us by. I loved the funky wall we sat next to that was covered with faux foliage (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of it!). At least out on the patio, there was plenty of natural lighting while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. I didn't happen to see any TVs nor hear any background music except for the chattering conversation and traveling traffic. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=KSEN2KmVyZVDOc7G6f6FCA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw
ATTIRE
Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.
OVERALL
I was happy to finally try Eat 'N Park Restaurant while I hung out with childhood friends, and I would consider another visit to further explore their expansive menu. The simple items such as pancakes and waffles looked lovely. However, I'd challenge their omelettes declaration (just add more milk to make it fluffier). The portions were large, the prices were higher than expected (wasn't everything these days?), and the service was attentive. Plus, I always preferred to support small mom & pop businesses. I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $25.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 3.5 STARS
