The Best Places To Eat In East Atlanta Village - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"When you’re sort of in the mood for sushi but also won’t mind a big warm bowl of massaman curry, this is your place. A brick wall, a wood paneled wall, and an absurdly loud red wall make up the interior of EAV Thai and Sushi, and somehow they all work well in this small-ish one-room dining space. Spend time thinking how this unlikely wizardry can inspire your home redesign as you enjoy a sushi roll or three—get one with crab sticks like the Bali Paradise Island, which also packs in cream cheese and baked scallops. And then proceed to the perfectly creamy and robust spicy panang curry. There’s also a whole specialty martini menu and an extensive list of other cocktails and spirits, but we like the Black Raspberry Sake Martini." - juli horsford

I can truly appreciate why this place garners such glowing reviews. I savored an array of delightful drinks, and after just one colossal 20-ounce frozen margarita, I felt as if I had enjoyed the effects of five! It was an incredible value for such a tasty treat. Every dish was remarkable, from the perfectly crispy shrimp egg rolls to the tantalizing sushi rolls, and the Bangkok fried rice was an absolute standout. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a restaurant. The ambience was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and a vibrant atmosphere that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff was attentive and friendly, creating a welcoming environment that set the tone for a fabulous evening. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night, a lively ladies' night out, or even a solo adventure at the bar, this place fits the bill perfectly. It has such a cool vibe that I can’t wait to return next week for more unforgettable moments!

I was invited to this restaurant for a late evening bite to eat and I was very impressed. Cute, cozy, comfy establishment with upbeat, attentive, personable staff. The food was fresh, flavorful, and plentiful. Plenty of dining options and prices were fair. Street parking or public lots available. *Sadly the only downfall is that everything is fried in the same grease so please be cautious if you have food allergies!

This is a hidden gem in East Atlanta. Food, Service & Atmosphere is always on point. Mark is a really great server. He's polite & patient ask for him when you go. My favorite is the spring rolls, shrimp, shrimp basil fried rice & the fried Snapper. Great drinks & drink specials on Wednesday & Thursday the drinks are only $7. This is a great date nights spot, a great happy hour spot & overall just a great place to feel like community 😊

Google
Amazing food. I wish I had a second stomach to eat right through it all. Food was very fresh and everything tasted like it was cooked to perfection. If you want somewhere to have a nice dinner, come here.

Google
Cute Thai spot with Pad Thai that’s ACTUALLY good. I’ve tried a few Thai places in Atlanta, but this is the only one that actually has flavorful food, free parking in the back, and the staff is great. The atmosphere is also swanky. I get take out here often and occasionally dine in.

Google
I stopped by for dessert and I'm so glad I did - their traditional cheesecake is hands down the best I've had in East Atlanta Village. The server, Diego, was top-notch. He knew the menu inside and out and made some spot-on recommendations for entrees, too. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and grab a slice (or two!)

Let’s talk about EAV That & Sushi real quick. I’ve never really been a Thai food eater. I’ll eat it if that’s what the majority wants but I’ve never been the one to have to have it. Baby listen, EAV That & Sushi has me in a choke hold as the food is AMAZNG!!!! We were in the area as Shaunie said it is one of her favorite places to go, as such, we went. Walking in, the ambiance is really low key and has a great feel to it. It’s perfect for friends, dates, or even alone. After we walked in we were able to be seated immediately. Continuing to take in the ambiance, the feel was so chill. There was a game on each television and the music was playing in the background. Yep, I’m here for all of this. Upon taking our seats, I ordered a sweet tea and began to scroll the menu. Taking a moment to take in the menu as there are an abundance of options, I decided on the Spring Rolls as an Appetizer and Pad Thai as my Main Course. Clearly I played it safe. 😂😂😂 From seating us to taking out drink and food orders, our waiter was super nice. He was professional, very educated on the menu offerings and kept a smile the entire time. Not to mention, we weren’t his only table yet he was on top of his game and provided top tier service. Once my food came I was immediately drawn into the aroma. The Thai Spices mixed with the Sweet smells of the sauce made me extra happy inside. LoL. The Spring Rolls were good. They were crunchy loo Upon first bite I almost melted. Whew! I have NEVER in all my years had a Pad Thai this amazing. I’m talking about perfectly cooked noodles. Optimum noodle to meat to sauce ratio. And best of all, the peanuts were coated in the sauce and not only acted as the extra layer of texture, but their flavor profile was enhanced which allowed the dish to have a multi-flavor blend of sweet, salty, and nutty. Omggggggg. I want moreeeeeeeeee. The dish arrived hot and was very fresh. This wasn’t no quick boil or reheated dish, no. This was freshly made when I ordered it and whoever the chef was is amazing at their job. Dear Chef, your ability to cook Pad Thai is beyond normal. Your supernatural flavor elevated dish was exciting, mouth pleasing, and has made me eager to return to EAV That & Sushi. If you’re in the area and ready to eat, you can not go wrong with EAV That & Sushi.

Google
Good experience at EAV Thai and Sushi! They have Monday and Tuesday specials which include sushi rolls, soups, and salads. I enjoyed my bakery roll at $5 and the drunken noodles were enough to have for the next day for a follow up dinner. There were also wine specials including $13 bottles. Good service but got busy later impacting the times of food and drinks. Overall, good food quality and worth the visit!

Yelp
Every time I come to the east Atlanta Village area, I want to stop by this restaurant and get me a Mossman curry. It's so delicious and even better if I get to sit in the restaurant and enjoy it because the ambience of the space is on points! Always cool people on the staff there too. Love the head chef of this restaurant too, and her other establishments.

Yelp
The initial customer service was lacking however they came around. The food was amazing and the management turned it around.

Yelp
I've been craving sushi and I'm so glad that I finally got some. I ordered via delivery and I won't lie, some of the older reviews almost scared me off but sometimes you just have to try a place for yourself, and I'm glad that I did! I'm usually an adventurous eater, especially when it comes to sushi because I love a great roll or some sashimi, but as I'm unable to eat raw fish currently, I kept it simple. After indecisively checking out multiple sushi restaurant options for almost an hour, I went with EAV based on the details listed on the menu that allowed me to clearly note if the roll was raw vs. cooked, the roll options (I don't love tempura-only options) and their prices. I decided to go with a basic California roll (which I haven't had since I was like, 5 lol) and their spider roll which includes crab and veggies. I called EAV prior to checking out to confirm that 3 of my initial choices were cooked, and the woman who answered the phone was so kind and patient. I'm so glad that I did call as one roll I was considering was raw. When my rolls made it to my door, they were still in perfect condition and beautifully prepped. In the 'special request' section of my delivery order, I asked for extra ginger and wasabi. I always swear that restaurants don't read those but they did! The rolls were portioned well and packed with crab and veggies. The rice was also perfectly cooked, moist and sticky. I don't think I've scarfed down sushi rolls so quickly in my life, they really didn't stand a chance! I'm so glad that I took the time out to try them for myself!

Yelp
Food? It's tasty and fast to come out. I prefer lunch but I don't like loud. Servers are friendly and can steer you to what ever you want to eat. My favorites? Monday / Tuesday specials. The shrimp mushroom soup Leave it? Their fried rolls tend to have too much costing for me. And o prefer raw.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in EAV. 99% of the time we order takeout, but the food is always great. The red curry and pad see ew are standouts. The sushi is fresh. I wish they did dumplings but spring rolls are a great substitute.
google avatar

Yelp
The service is great! Attentive and prompt. Love the ambiance, it's a chill relaxing low light environment. Cute for lunch or diner dates. I've visited alone as well as with my family. The food is amazing to say the least. They have lots of options!! Everything I've had has always tasted fresh and yummy. Love their sushi.

Yelp
10/10 experience!! I came into EAV specifically for a few Lychee Martinis. In order to ensure the drinks didn't go straight to my head, I also ordered the Spring Rolls and Super Crunch Sushi Roll. The Spring Rolls were hot and delicious and came with the more yummy sauce. And the Super Crunch Roll was fantastic!! The texture was pleasing to my palette and I enjoyed every bite. Hector was such a fun server! I'll definitely be back for more low-key vibes and drinks.

Yelp
A lively atmosphere on most nights in a grungier part of Atlanta I'm very much drawn too. Started off with tall glass of beer and some super delicious "jumbo" Thai wings. Not sure why they're called jumbo though. The sushi was pretty good too. I forget which roll I had but it was fresh and tasted great. Got to eat off my friend's plate who ordered the Ginger Red Snapper and I will make sure to order this every time I come back here. I preferred his dish over my sweet and sour chicken. Everything was cooked well but I found it to be way less satisfying than the fish I wish I ordered. Service here can be hit or miss when I comes to timeliness but the servers are friendly.

Yelp
This place has had me in a chokehold for a few months. A friend introduced me and I haven't been the same. lol. This place is nestled in cute, artsy East Atlanta Village. There is street parking and parking in the rear. I always encounter such warm people and an amazing bartender. It's relaxing to sit near the window and people watch. The menu is packed with items that anyone could enjoy. I normally fall for the Basil Fried Rice. It has yet to disappoint. The drinks are also pretty good and won't empty your pockets. 2 thumbs up!!

Janice J.

Yelp
I love everything about this place, my family has been going for years. Hector is the absolute best!!

Yelp
So good the perfect spice and very flavorful. I will be back. I also had the tempura shrimp sushi. A must try.

Yelp
Upon entering we had to wait a while to get our order taken but after we ordered and spoke with a manager the food came out and he fixed everything and the food was impeccable. Glad we stayed!

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant several times and it has not let me down. The restaurant is intimate and cozy. I ordered takeout from here and when I called in my order was taking quickly and accurately. When I arrived my food wasn't quite ready, so I sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender. He brought me water and asked did I want to order a drink as I waited for my food. Once my food was ready I checked it for accuracy, paid my bill and left. The food was really good-Veggie spicy Basil fried rice and spring rolls. Definitely will come back

Yelp
My girlfriend and I throughly enjoyed dinner at EAV Thai & Sushi restaurant located at 467 Flat Shoals Ave SE Atlanta, Georgia 30316. Their Health Score is 91=A on July 28, 2023 Our waitress name was Bree, she was very friendly and greeted us with a warm smile. She made sure we had everything we needed. For our appetizer we tried the delicious Calamari, fried in a light and crispy batter. For our entrees we had the Spicy Basil Thai Fried Rice with chicken and shrimp. All our food was cooked fresh to order and served hot. The ambiance includes a full stocked bar with everything you want to drink. The noise was moderate and each table had a tea light candle. They serve lunch and dinner and offer specials during the week. I'm not a Sushi eater but if you are then this will be a great place for you. I'd definitely dine her again and I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner. It was the Calamari for me. Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Food & Service was Great ! drinks are good and reasonable !!! Atmosphere is grown and sexy as the Terminator would say ! I'll Be Back !!!

Yelp
Whoever coined the rather disrespectful term "hole in the wall" failed to account for rather delicious food being cooked in less than stellar establishments. This is one of those places. A small restaurant with lots of charm and appeal. The decor was nice, the service was great and the food was some of the best Thai food I've eaten in a while. The drinks were on point and STRONG...OMG! LOL We had a large party of 40 for a birthday dinner. Hector and the rest of the staff handled our party with ease, and they were very efficient and attentive. I was very impressed with the service. EAV Tha and Sushi have a wonderful extensive menu with many options. each dish I tried was cooked to perfection and delicious. Highly recommend when looking for Thai in the EAV area. Parking can be terrible on the weekends. You may have to drive around looking for a spot, but it's well worth it.

Karen S.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I eat here once or twice per week. Everything is good!! The food, the drinks, the service!! Hector is amazing!! I choose the Basil fried rice with the Panaag curry sauce on the side. I also get the bakery rolls. This will be your new favorite place to bring friends and family alike!!
google avatar

Vickie B.

Yelp
I had the chicken panang curry dish while my boyfriend ordered the snapper. Both were pretty tasty but I preferred my dish over his.

Yelp
Terrible. This place has really fallen. I ordered takeout and it was all rice and no fish? Dry.
google avatar

Yelp
Giving this an extra star because of how well the manager handled the situation! Our real issue was with the server. She started off giving free shots, good energy right? Then she disappeared for thirty minutes. When she did come back, we all ordered and asked for waters. A little bit later all of the food came except for one plate, and still no water. About thirty minutes passed of us waiting and we notified the waitress -- she forgot to put ones persons order in! Then we all continued to wait, that order came another 30 mins later -- and was the complete incorrect order (wrong protein). It took us a while to get to the manager, but he was very apologetic and took care of our meal. We ended up taking it to go. The initial waitress avoided us the entire night after messing up the order, never apologized or came back to check in (and still no water). The place does have good vibes, good music, nice lighting and even an outdoor patio! I would try it again as long as that server wasn't there. She definitely seemed a little off...
google avatar

Shaundra B.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. There was plenty of free parking behind the restaurant, which automatically gave me a good start! The atmosphere was fun and lively, perfect for my first date. We ordered appetizers, entrees ands a few drinks - everything was great. The drinks hit very well but not too strong. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable. She made great recommendations and was super attentive. I would absolutely go back!
google avatar

Janell H.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch date & was not disappointed. We seated ourselves upon arrival. It took a minute for someone to help us & that was only because my date called the waitress over. I ordered the fried rice with chicken & he ordered the drunken noodles w some spring rolls. The portions were good as I had left over to enjoy the rest for dinner. He ate all his food. I will come here again & would recommend.

Phoebe S.

Yelp
The Peach Margarita was very good, and the ginger salad was amazing! I also enjoyed the shrimp rolls! I will be back again. I recommend this place. The prices were reasonable. Tay was attentive and great!
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
Cute fun vibes. The cocktails were good. The sushi rolls were decent. I'd say the dining experience was great, the food was just average. The objective was to enjoy some sushi, cocktails, and leave full and happy. Mission complete!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Bit too pricy in my opinion. I haven't fallen in Love with the restaurant. I've been three times now and nothing has blown my skirt up.

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Amazing food. I love this place! Ambiance was EVERYTHING! I love love love it. Margaritas were great and the server was nice and welcoming .
google avatar

Tanya J.

Yelp
Met up with my Family last night for dinner here, we had a lovely time. The service was great, everyone enjoyed their food and margaritas (they were perfect). The food was on point, food flooded our table (sushi, thai basil rice with chicken, miso soup, broccoli, shrimp and fried rice and a plethora of other dishes were ordered). They were playing old school R&B and they were plenty of sing alongs from the customers, we had a nice time. It was a nice fun vibe, the free parking is available behind the restaurant, its located in a nice area of Glenwood Ave. We will probably meet up here once a month, looking forward. The food was delicious
google avatar

Payton J.

Yelp
The food is authentically Thai and everything else is authentically Atlanta. Lol. On a real note, everything on the menu is solid and the prices are competitive. I highly recommend this restaurant. I got the chicken skewers, the tuna tataki, chicken fried rice, and a cashew nut chicken curry. The flavors were spot on, the presentation was as expected, and the vibe was fun. The staff are friendly and good at what they do but as a heads up there's a bit of a cultural disconnect between the staff and the authenticity of the menu. This is now one of my regular spots.
google avatar

Hamilton H.

Yelp
Food and service always great. Staff very attentive. Great community restaurant with great vibes.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Basil fried rice, seaweed salad and pepper shrimp were all fantastic! Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Alicia M.

Yelp
Food was delicious, customer service was good. Ordered veggie tempura rolls and spring rolls. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I ordered take out since I wasn't feeling the crowds but the restaurant appeared to be highly energetic. The music was playing, the staff was friendly, overall good vibes. I ordered the chicken pad Thai which was really really good and enough to share. If you're in the mood for Thai food, give them a try if you're in the area.

Kashaunda H.

Yelp
Great good, good service nice atmosphere, my new spot for Thai. I'd if your in the mode to try something new , come give them a try.

Natte H.

Yelp
No service at all... too loud to think...music is stuck between stations... no one actually acknowledged us after being seated with menus down on the table... not even a look... left walking right past the register where the wait staff was having a good time. still no acknowledgment that we were ever there. We ate on the deck of Argosy and saw our "server" sharing at least three "cigarettes" just outside the front door in less than a half hour. Glad we left! probable would have gotten the poopsies if we had waited long enough to order and wait for the "food" Will not be back! wouldn't ever recommend! Bet the management doesn't ever care enough to respond to negative reviews
google avatar

Stephanie G.

Yelp
I decided to give this place a try since we were craving for sushi. Our usual sushi place is Budi's, but unlike Budi's, this place offers sushi and Thai food. We did an online order for pick up and I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. You pick up online orders at the bar and was helped instantly. They were a packed house so I'm glad that I ordered ahead. My personal favorite from this rider was the nam tok salad. The beef was grilled and had a slight chew and was drowned in the sauce (which I prefer); the lettuce it was served with was wilted because it was drowned with the sauce but nevertheless, it was delicious. We also ordered the shrimp tempura roll, which was decent. The shrimp tempura was small and filled it with the crunchies inside. We got the golden California roll, which is you typical California roll but with masago. We also ordered spicy tuna roll, which was my favorite out of all the rolls we got. It had a good amount of heat as well. I would go back to this place and try their other fares.

Yelp
I think I am in love with this spot here. My co-worker has been raving about this spot (EAV Thai & Sushi) for months. Finally, our work schedule aligns, and we meet up there on a Friday night. I was not disappointed at all. Finally, a spot that lives up to the hype!!. This spot is perfect for a date night, drinks with the girls or simply a place to wind down after a long day of work. . The live music was a nice touch and gave the places an intimate feel. The blueberry margarita was everything. Nice and strong, just how I like them, so be careful lol. We ordered chicken fried rice, crazy crab sushi, volcano sushi rolls and pepper scrimp. The volcano rolls were so good, I don't know why I didn't order a set to go. So if you are looking for a lowkey spot with live music, good drinks and food, check them out and let me know what you all think. You can find a video review of this place on my instagram at Timasha Bernice

Yelp
Amazing food. Family friendly yet dim and sultry. Good drinks. Has frozen margaritas as well. Sushi can be fried and servers are pretty friendly.
google avatar

Aysha S.

Yelp
The food was okay. You can't really go wrong with basil fried rice, drunken noodle was also good but the chicken mall im not sure what it was called was nasty. My saki martini was decent but it tasted a little like medicine. The service was poor and when the food runner brought out the wrong food to our table he got angry with us, told us we had to pay for it and then threw it at the hostess desk when I said that once he put the wrong food on the table and walked away it was dead. The restaurant was not what we were expecting nor was the vibe there. Will not return
google avatar

Renee P.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to catch up with friends. I opted for the basil fried rice. It was probably one of the best I've tasted thus far. I wasn't that hungry so planned on eating some and taking the rest for leftovers but I didn't make it. It was so good I finished it all. A must try

Yelp
My 1st time visiting this cute lil trendy spot was on 12/21. They offer street parking and there's a nearby parking just down the street on the same block. The food was great and the drinks were hitting! The server was excellent, can't recall his name right now, but he was great! My friends and I tried different dishes of sushi, appetizers and entrees. Music was playing, lights were dimmed and the vibe was nice! I would definitely recommend giving them a try. I plan to return!

Yelp
We love EAV Thai and Sushi! This place is a staple in my life. There is always attentive service, excellent food and drinks, and a patio. I have eaten the majority of things on the menu. I use to come here for their dollar sushi night pre-pandemic all the time. I would sit at the bar and order two rolls always mixing it up but one always has salmon in it because it is my flavorite. If you need apps then the basil and spring rolls are always yummy. Entrees I have devoured and have trouble picking between every time I am here are masaman curry, Pad Thai, drunken noodles, and tempura veggies.

Yelp
The food was good I ordered some thai chicken it was delicious. Very seasoned and taste like a homemade dish.

Aneesah E.

Yelp
Great food and great service. A must try and my finances favorite. My fiancé is a big fan of this restaurant and we love east Atlanta and Diego !

Tiffaney T.

Yelp
We visit at least 3x's a month. Amazing Sushi, & Thai Fried Rice! Great Vibes even through the pandemic. We were able to order to-go! Our little oasis! Lunch dates after a hard workout!‍

Marquetta D.

Yelp
Food is good and size is decent but still pretty pricey. You're going to pay pretty much $20 a plate for everything. Service has always been decent for me. Both eat in and carry-out. Carry out has been wonky a couple of times. Ambiance is nice.
google avatar

Desrick T.

Yelp
Best Food and customer service ever. The atmosphere and decor is nice as well...Will definitely make this one of my favorites
google avatar

Reg S.

Yelp
Good service and food was pretty good. Would recommend a good bar clean as it has an odor. But overall a vibe. Took a minute to get our checks. But cash out was smooth.

Yelp
EAV Thai & Sushi delivered delicious food with satisfying portions, making it a delightful place to enjoy a blend of flavors. The combination of Thai cuisine and sushi offered a diverse and enjoyable menu. I definitely will be back! One critique: service could have been a little quicker, but it was also understandable considering it appeared there were only two servers.
