Ballin' on a Budget!
In this economy, sushi is a luxury. Shoot, eating out is a luxury.
If you're looking for fresh, delicious sushi at wallet-friendly prices...
Ebiko.
They started in Oakland in 2022 and expanded to the city's FiDi in 2024. They just opened their second location in the city in North Beach (took over Caffe Roma).
Current hours of operation: 11 am - 5 pm. Takeout only with limited seating.

All Grab 'n Go: Nigiri, sashimi, don (rice bowl), and maki rolls.
There's a wall of Japanese snacks and a fridge of canned/bottled drinks including beer and sake.
Wish they had small nori wraps for sale to make little hand rolls with your nigiri or don.

Tip: To bring out the flavors of the fish and rice, let the sushi come to room temp; about 30-45 minutes before enjoying.
* 7 Piece Omakase Nigiri ($16.99)
Two piece sake, hotate, ikura, akami, chutoro, and otoro
Seasoned sushi rice that kept its shape when picking up but you can still distinguish each grain. Topped with fresh buttery neta. I was hoping for more variety but a set that includes otoro for less than $17 is unheard of!
* 5 Piece Salmon Aburi ($12.50)
Seared salmon with tobiko, kewpie, soy, green onions for a deliciously rich bite with a kiss of smoky flavor.
* Mini Uni Don ($8.50)
Small mound of sticky sushi rice topped with two pieces of sweet, briny Santa Barbara uni and umami rich ikura.

Modern, minimalistic space with two tables and window counter seats. Purse/coat hooks for counter seats. Top 40s playlist.
Take your sushi a block away to Washington Square Park to enjoy.

Metered street parking doable on the weekdays.
Overall, Ebiko is a great addition to The North Beach area for sushi that won't make you go broque!
