Authentic, fresh and delicious sushi in an intimate and inviting setting! Staff is fantastic and the vibe was perfect for us. We've already been twice this month and can't wait to go back. Thank you team Ebisu!

This place is teeny tiny and that's honestly one of the reasons I wanted to try it! Something so small has to be good right?! So my wife and I went on a random Thursday and it was surprisingly busy. There were plenty of tables available outside but 1. it was very hot and humid, 2. I was not trying to be a mosquitos meal while I eat my meal, and 3. based on the reviews with service being touch and go, we didn't want to be out of sight, out of mind. So we happily waited for our table inside. Lots of people came in and either decided to go somewhere else or to eat outside but we kept waiting. A 4 top came available first but they asked us to wait a minute or 2 more for a 2 top which made sense to us because it was busy. This was all fine until the 4 top next to us that had just arrived got exponentially better service than us and had their food ordered and served before we even got our appetizers ordered. Our waitress forgot about us, which, honestly, was expected based on the reviews. Once we finally got our food, it was really delicious! The orange sunrise roll was so beautifully bright with citrus, the seaweed salad was so yummy, and the nigiri was bangin. Our waitress did apologize a couple times for the wait and forgetting about us so we are very thankful for that. We will come back! It was still great food! Maybe next time we'll try to get in at the bar. The pricing was also really great, btw. I've seen a couple reviews that it's overpriced which I find crazy. We easily would have spent double for the same quality at any other sushi place downtown, in South Tampa, or Hyde Park.

The Florida Roll is one of the best rolls I’ve ever had, and the combination with tempura is spectacular. The octopus carpaccio is good, but it’s not my favorite. The service is great — Néstor is very friendly and pleasant, and the place is very cozy

So so good. Best place I had on my quick stop in Tampa!!! Squeezed in at the bar, service was good and sushi was amazing.

Google
Great place, great atmosphere and amazing food and service! Definitely a Seminole Heights spot that worth the visit. My husband and I loved it.

Google
Food was amazing. It was packed all night and doesn't have that many tables so it took a while to have orders taken and get food, but the employees were all nice and accommodating. It's super cute and kitchy inside, we especially enjoyed the tiny old TV playing lone ranger - I haven't seen a TV like that in decades! We especially enjoyed the tuna appetizer and sake sangria.

Google
Amazing sushi, wonderful service, and the appetizer was absolutely delicious. So much flavor, and the sushi was very fresh. Wasabi was extra spicy, the volcano roll was my favorite. The fish on top was so yummy. All the flavors were fantastic. Very wonderful small spot with beautiful sushi rolls.

Google
I've been going here for at least 3 years and we've consistently had great service and the best sushi and sashimi, not to mention great takoyaki and crab rangoon (best I've ever had). Great specials, too. My adult grandson loves the Jabba the Hut roll - gets it every time. We try to make it there once a month. The owner is a wonderful Japanese woman who knows her stuff!

Yelp
I'm actually SHOCKED that I haven't reviewed Ebisu yet considering it is probably the single most ordered place for take out in our household. This place is our GO-TO and STAPLE take-out sushi spot. The sushi is excellent every single time we go here. And it's always affordable, but quality is not sacrificed. We have dined in a few times as well, and it's always a lovely experience. It is quick and everyone is friendly. It's cute and set inside a historic house in Seminole heights. Our favorites are the staple rolls - philadelphia and spicy tuna! The Godzilla is also a favorite! Basics like miso soup and ginger salad are great too!

Yelp
My coworker and I have both traveled to Japan, we're in Tampa on business and have been working 9 hours days streak for through without lunch. We were starving after work today and wanted big food and we found Ebisu. We came here because we saw Takiyaki in the Yelp photos it did not disappoint. We got an order of Takiyak and a ton of special rolls and some sashimi. Holy cow what a feast!! Great service wonderful atmosphere of fun and quaintness. Hot sake!!! Forget about it!!! If you have an opportunity you have to come here!!!
google avatar

Shleitha M.

Yelp
First time visiting this spot! Intimate sushi spot in Seminole heights with limited seating and parking. But they make up for the accommodating service and quick service. I had the Spicy Salmon Don Rice Bowl which was amazing! The flavors were so amazing and the spice was not overwhelming complimented well with the avocado and rice. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely try the sushi options.
google avatar

Yelp
The sashimi sushi bowl was great! I ate it before snapping a picture. The GF soy sauce was appreciated. Cozy place with limitless parking yet worth the wait. I sat at an end bar seat with a small TV. The volume was just loud enough to annoy me. They are playing 80's radio in the background you see, so I was ready to be tied!!!! Shame, Japanese rap, pop, spa music- anything else would have delivered a vibe! Just a little thing that means so much (; I'll be back....but I'm not sitting under that stupid TV! Maybe just keep it off- the place and people are the main event after the delicious food.

Yelp
Hidden sushi joint I'm so glad we stumbled across. Sushi was phenomenal - in competition for some of my favorite sushi I've had in Tampa. The Hawaiian roll, Godzilla and red dragon were perfect. And prices much more fair than a lot of other places. Limited seating inside but easily found 2 seats at the sushi bar! Will come back again and again!!!
google avatar

Isabella G.

Yelp
Definitely a hidden gem located in Seminole Heights - it's a small house that's serving up some of the tastiest and freshest sushi I've had in a while!

Yelp
This was such a cute location ! I love the deco of this cute little sushi shop ! Anything with anime or Godzilla has my heart ! Was craving some sushi and they had some really good reviews ! The service was right on as soon as I walked in ! Food was amazing I ate everything ! Will def be back when I have a sushi craving and that's all the time ! Thank you for your amazing service!

Yelp
I really enjoy Ebisu sushi and what it does for my taste buds. I went with the Naruto Roll & Spicy Chicken roll on this visit and am thoroughly satisfied with those choices. The Naruto Roll consists of Crab Salad, Spicy Salmon, Cucumber, Avocado Roll, Topped with Tuna Yellow Tail, Finished with Chili Ponzu and costs 13.95. The spicy chicken roll consists of Spicy Chicken Tempura Chicken & Asparagus and costs $6.95. The service here is always friendly and genuine. Parking is available and can be plentiful when there isn't a crowd. I love the ambiance of Ebisu and it's easily my top go to for sushi in Tampa!
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
This place was such a cute/quaint little spot. The sushi tasted very fresh and the presentation was great. They had a lot of options - even sushi bowls! I had the Naruto roll and spicy tuna roll, and I absolutely loved the spicy tuna. The service was a bit slow but friendly. It did get packed at around 7pm on a Thursday evening so be prepared for that.

Yelp
My friends introduced me to this spot and it did not disappoint. It is a smaller restaurant and parking is minimal, but shack is in the name so plan to get there early. Service was fast and friendly and the sushi itself tasted great as well. As a big Hawaiian pizza fan, I had to try pineapple on sushi with the Hawaiian roll and it was great

Yelp
Ebisu is incredible! It's cheap but still very quality. The menu has excellent selections, and I've never met someone who doesn't love the place. It's small, but service is fast and focused on giving you a quality yet efficient experience. My favorite personal touch is the tiny TV playing Godzilla nonstop. :) As a heads up, the parking lot is tiny! Also, if you spend less than $15, you have to pay in cash (very easy to do for one person!)

Yelp
We were eating and conversing so well here that I forgot to take a picture of my partners other role, which was "ebisu". Otherwise everything listed we almost finished. We were close, however the sushi won. However, for the time that we were there, it was quite delicious. Sushi was packed with flavor, and I love the fact that it was fried. I was looking for some kind of crunch and the sushi I selected gave that 100%. My partner seemingly enjoyed hers as well. Very small little place and not much parking spot available if it's packed. So it's probably best if you get there at a decent time so you can seat yourself. Otherwise, I must say the food was truly delicious and I would be back if I'm ever in this area.

Yelp
Always love it here it's been probably 8 years since i've been back here last time with my late father and and it was so lovely. I sat at the bar so I could watch the prep table at work super efficient workers. My server was a sweet older lady gave me very much auntie vibes and just wanted to take care of ya. i'll definitely be back next time with friends. hope this place never goes away.

Yelp
Came to Ebisu as a last minute dinner spot after bowling. We showed up 45 min before closing with 6 of us - we were sat right away & greeted with waters! We put in drink orders and appetizers - house salads & miso soups. It was fresh and the perfect size for an appetizer. The crab rangoons were warm and crunchy and paired with a sweet chili Thai that was a perfect combo! Once we ordered sushi rolls, they were made in under 10 minutes - the fish tasted fresh and the waitress was very helpful with extra sauces and requests. Not badly priced either! Will definitely be back here!
google avatar

Yelp
For those pregnant mamas craving some sushi they have tons of cooked options! Super cute spot especially for a date night. We tried the Yummy roll, Tempura Chicken roll and some Gyoza. I probably wouldn't order the yummy again just since it was an overpowering flavor. Prices are mid and it's a cool atmosphere having it setup in a house. (Parking can be a little difficult). We sat at the bar and food was served super quick! Spicy tuna is usually our go-to so I can't wait to comeback when I can actually have non-cooked items but overall we had a great time!

Yelp
What.A.Gem. 5/5! After years of wanting to try out Ebisu Sushi Shack, I am so so glad I finally did! Situated in an unassuming bungalow in Seminole Heights, Ebisu is an easy to miss spot. No social media presence or fancy marketing to attract all the Tampa newcomers. The interior gives retro homey vibes and it just feels like home the moment I step inside. Like every go-to neighborhood spot should! Super clean and reasonably priced too. Drinks- HIGHLY recommend the chilled sake sangria. It's served with plum wine and is so refreshing. I'm hooked. Also tried the hot sake and Kirin Ichiban (warning- it's a large beer!) There are happy hour specials too. Food- On a mission to try out every item. Salmon nigiri is to die for, same with yellowtail. So fresh! Recommend the Orange Sunrise, Godzilla, and Naruto specialty rolls, as well as any daily special roll. I've also tried out the Spicy Tuna Don rice bowl... this was the most lackluster item I've ordered. Lots of rice, not as much tuna as I'd like, and I think it would benefit from additional toppings such as seaweed salad or more avocado. Service- Una is the best waitress in Tampa! I enjoy watching the sushi chefs make the rolls too. They all seem happy watching the customers enjoy! No complaints here.

Yelp
Love this place! First of all, it is so cute inside and the service was great. Super fast to bring out the food but I didn't feel rushed. The food was incredible, everything was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Gets very packed- it's in an old Seminole heights bungalow home. Super homey and cool vibe inside. Sushi quality was actually great! Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Overall our experience went just as expected! We rostered the Rainbow Roll, a Florida Roll, and a couple Miso Soups. Our total was about what we expected for a Sushi experience, around $35. The soup was one of the better Miso Soups we've both had. Both rolls were as expected. Nothing more. Nothing less. I personally felt the Rainbow Roll was missing a touch of acid via a sauce of some sort but otherwise the quality was there. The atmosphere is a typical Old Seminole Heights bungalow house vibe which feels like you're dining somewhere super local and homey. The service was great. Maybe a touch enthusiastic but they were passionate about their food and how items like the Miso Soup weren't from a powder. We both would go back but have previous for other Sushi restaurants if we wanted a slight bump in quality and wanted to venture out of our neighborhood. Beware parking may be a bit tricky with construction off Nebraska.
google avatar

Saphir S.

Yelp
I like the ambiance of this spot! It feels very Seminole Heights as it is in an old home and the size of the restaurant is small. There is a parking lot on the side and back of the house. I ordered a hot green tea that came with free refills. I enjoyed the Godzilla roll the most! It was delicious and definitely the stand out roll. The Negihama roll was my least favorite as it didn't taste as fresh and lack flavor from the fish.
google avatar

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. it used to be our sushi go to but now they send tiny plates. If you call them you get blown off. They used to be amazing. Sucks what they've become.
google avatar

Yelp
THE BEST SUSHI IN TAMPA, hands down. I am absolutely obsessed with this place and have ordered from it/eaten here multiple times. They are super quick if you are ordering takeout/delivery. Their spicy tuna roll is one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had, and it's so simple! The fish is just so fresh that it doesn't need much else. Their tuna sashimi is next level good as well - the pieces are very thick, fresh, and such a good value! I also love their orange sunrise roll and edamame. The restaurant is pretty small and parking is limited, so definitely come on off hours. The service is great though!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We got a donburi, a specialty sushi roll, and a nigiri. Everything came out quickly and at a reasonable speed for our party of six. We also ordered some sake and Sapporo. The staff was very friendly and checked on us frequently. The place has a small parking lot, but some nearby parking as well. I loved the ambiance and it was cozy seating. I'd love to return and try more items!

Yelp
What a cute and cozy little place for some amazing sushi! I don't know why we ended up basically ordering everything on the menu to feed two people, but I'm glad we did. I think Ebisu probably has the best value for sushi around, I was happy to get three rolls for myself for around $20. My partner got four though, and that's when we both lost all sense of space and time after fully processing how much food we were actually gonna have to eat. Not only is it cheap, IT'S A LOT. AND GOOD! I think the standouts for me were definitely the volcano and sweet potato rolls. The volcano roll was topped with super rich and buttery imitation crab, and I just loved how crispy the sweet potato was. The Naruto roll also tasted really unique, the ponzu sauce makes it worth getting just for that alone. Overall, everything was so tasty and fresh, I would definitely come back here again. Vibes wise, I seriously love all the vintage movie posters on the walls here, and the staff were all super sweet and passionate about the food. Our waitress gave us some great recommendations on what to eat and how to eat it. She even gave me a little origami rabbit, which has definitely inspired me to go back to folding some of my own again! Please check Ebisu out!

Luke M.

Yelp
Incredible sashimi / nigiri, ordered the yellowtail and it was melt in your mouth amazing, rolls are also incredible, staff are incredibly kind and helpful and overall ambience is very upbeat and local feeling. Lots of regulars and lots of wholesome staff and customer interactions. Did not catch the name of the older woman who took our order but she was a gem of a human and so funny and sweet! 10/10 experience just don't expect to find a table immediately, it's clearly a popular place and for good reason!

Yelp
Amazing place in the heart is Seminole Hts. It's our go to for sushi. Been here many times and it never disappoints.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about ebisu sushi. the cutest spot (literally in a house). the parking is a bit tough. the staff was so friendly and accommodating. the sushi was phenomenal, flavorful and fresh. I also LOVED the homemade krab rangoon. truly a top sushi spot in tampa.
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
Another hidden tampa gem.... Ebisu is quite small, they do have limited bar seating along with some outdoor seating on their patio and so it was packed the entire time we were there. I sat at the bar which I usually love so I can watch the sushi chefs at work and boy were they working! We ordered 6 rolls, sake, and their edamame peperoncino (highly recommend is you like garlic and a little spice) All of our rolls were delicious, although the fried Jabba the hut roll may have been the favorite! It is most definitely in my top three sushi spots in tampa bay. They also have very reasonable/fair pricing which is rare to find these days and it always a nice plus.
google avatar

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Staff was friendly and welcoming. Service was extremely fast. Food tastes incredible and all the ingredients were fresh. Miso soup was perfect. Not too salty like a lot of places. Large portion sizes.

Uana C.

Yelp
I have ordered from here many times, and the same order, but never have 3 rolls and salmon sushi come in one container. Rolls are very, very small! Really disappointing.

Maya U.

Yelp
Recently visited for my best friend's 21st birthday and had a wonderful time. I loved the ambiance, super cute environment and had good music. Service was fast and reliable. Ordered volcano, godzilla, yummy, and sweet potato rolls and all were delicious. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Ebisu Sushi Shack was an interesting little spot. Though it may look a little sketch being a house set up and near the part of town that it is, but rest assured that this place was packed with good service, good, and prices. I guess the shack part sort of makes sense now. The volcano and orange sunrise were superb rolls. The rice bowl was interesting to my taste buds. The volcano roll ($13.75) was well presented in the form of a volcano (yay!). The white meat fish was interesting with its flavor. The baked crab and salmon were sort of lumped together adding to the height of the mound. The spicy mayo and eel sauces made this roll flavorful and colorful to consume. The orange slices on the orange sunrise ($12.75) were interesting in appearance, texture, and taste. It was by far the most unique roll. The spicy yellow tail and salmon were delectable. Though this pick was more simplistic compared to the volcano, the addition of the lemon and roe gave it a slight flair. The tekka don ($12.95) was okay. The rice used tasted different; the texture was a little off as well. The tuna was good, though I thought more of it could have been added. The avocado slices were a nice touch along with the furikake that added additional colors and textures to this simple bowl. Don was a superb waiter. I really liked his demeanor and customer service level. He seemed attentive and kept himself busy in between customers. I guess efficient is the most accurate description as I observed him bouncing around during the busy dinner rush. The overall food at Ebisu Sushi Shack were great. I'd come again if given the occasion.

Yelp
I considered not reviewing because I want to gatekeep this place, but I have to do this service to y'all. This place is SO cute! Just a small little shop with a few tables but it is lovely. Wasn't too busy when I stopped by though so had no trouble getting a table. Ordered 2 signature rolls and 1 classic and they were all delicious. I highly recommend the red dragon and rainbow. Fish was fresh. Waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Prices were extremely reasonable for the quality and area.

Yelp
Our go to spot!! We try a new sushi spot every Friday but if we want a guaranteed great meal, Ebisu never lets us down. We always order to go, but they're usually done with our order within 20-25 minutes. Every roll is amazing!!
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Food is good. Very friendly staff. They helped us take our picture in a fun way. They even have sake mules, which is unique for any restaurant to have! Definitely a must try in you're in the area!
google avatar

Abdullah A.

Yelp
Small space but it was clear they do brisk business, I picked up take out and many others were doing the same. The wrap around sushi bar is a nice touch and made me want to dine in, maybe next time. I had the Hawaiian role, which was different than any I'd had in the past: shrimp tempura and creme cheese, topped with a pineapple chunk. The avocado roll was absolutely stuffed with perfectly ripe avocado. The kanisu (cucumber and imitation crab) was a perfect side, but the serving was a touch small. I want to come back and try some more fish-forward sushi.
google avatar

Jeremy O.

Yelp
What a cool spot! We ordered 3 rolls and they were great, but the real beauty of this spot is the vibe. Because it is tiny it feels like a hustling bustling sushi shop in a downtown subway. We mentioned we were late (our fault) for a show and they had us in and out of there magically fast.
google avatar

Nia G.

Yelp
This place OMG! I think this may be one of the best sushi spots in Tampa. Everything that we had was so freaking amazing! The vibes were amazing, this is a cute little spot for a nice lunch or even a nice dinner! The service was very friendly, helpful, and super helpful. Definitely will be one of my favorite spots going forward.
google avatar

Heather D.

Yelp
Ebisu is amazing! We have been there multiple times and have never been let down by anything we have ordered. My favorite roll is the Naruto. It's so fresh and delicious. There are a few drink specials if you get there early. I recommend coming when they open because at 5:30 the whole places fills up immediately. I never mind waiting a little extra when I know the food and people working there are amazing. They do have a few outdoor tables...which I prefer. Tonight our waitress gave me a tiny oragami box with 2 tiny cranes inside. She explained it was for good luck. That was such a sweet gesture and meant so much to me. Go here and enjoy this SH gem!
google avatar

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Heard great things for a while so decided to finally give it a try and was NOT disappointed. Our server Una was so sweet and helpful. Sushi was delicious, fresh, and everything came out quick (favorite was the orange sunrise!) The sake sangria was perfectly refreshing, and the gyoza was yummy. The nigiri melts in your mouth - we recommend the salmon and yellowtail Here's what we ordered: - Naruto Roll - Volcano Roll - Orange Sunrise - Kirin Ichiban beer - Sake - Sake Sangria We want to go back and try the poke bowls and more rolls!
google avatar

Valentina E.

Yelp
I sat outside with my dog for dinner. The location is a cute bungalow house converted to a dreamy sushi bar/ restaurant. The crab Rangoon was creamy&delicious, paired nicely with my roll. Attentive server even though they were busy inside, brought my food quickly. I always love coming here if I'm in the Seminole heights area
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
This has been recommended to try, as I have a local spot that is my go to. Tried it out to see what the hype was about. I was disappointed to see they didn't offer escolar (white tuna, as that is my go to nigiri order). However the Red Dragon roll was delicious. My BF had the Salmon Groove, which he thought was decent, but they did not include ginger or wasabi for his dish. The ambiance wasn't terrible but we were placed directly under a speaker, so it was hard to hear each other. We had some miscommunications with our waitress, but she cleared them up without incident. Overall not bad, but I don't think it will replace my go to spot anytime soon.

M C.

Yelp
Amazing, delicious and quick service!! My daughter and I both enjoyed the food! The miso soup was tasty
google avatar

Breen K.

Yelp
The miso soup here is the best I've ever had, so flavorful. I had a few days ago and still thinking about it. The sushi was also great and really fresh. The Orange Sunrise roll is a must try, extremely unique and flavorful with the lemon. We loved everything we got. Regarding COVID, they spaced out tables inside and I felt very comfortable dining in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was the best sushi I've had in Tampa, excited to go back soon.

Yelp
'The Original Seminole Heights' sushi. Drive fast down Nebraska, just south of Hills and you will miss it! Right before the art/obelisk shining tall, in a cute old Florida GM remodeled house, tiny parking lot, busy takeout, cute decor (hello curious George, anime-style) and a great server. Happy hour! Bogo 1/2 off beer (5-6:30). Our server brought us water and said 'you will need this' then came the edamame! the spicy edamame was spicy, but addictive as your lips tingle and numb! Gyoza, stuffed. Tried the sunshine roll, which was light and refreshing with a tiny lemon atop, the volvano was topped high with fish, crab, warm which complimented a beautiful Cali-type roll below. Tried a spicy tuna, paired with cream cheese, cucumber, jalapeño and sirracha on top. Excellent choices! Our sake mules paired perfectly! We did not get the oragami swan, which was disappointing, since my son used to make these all the time as a child. Receiving one brings good luck and love your way.... Maybe others needed it more this week. The universe has spoke. Visit here :-)
google avatar

Nicolette B.

Yelp
I felt this spot, while quick, was way overpriced for the quality of sushi. The service was great but I was charged $1 for the tiniest little cup of spicy Mayo. Most places charge me 50¢ and it's in a good sized cup. The spicy tuna roll was not for me, it tasted super smoky? The Mexican roll was good, but again, I'd rather go somewhere else with the same quality and cheaper prices.

Yelp
I have hesitated writing this review for years because I love to see local businesses thrive but their sushi is just ok and sometimes not good at all, nothing remarkable about it really. We have given them multiple tries over the years but nothing has improved. The ambience is what sets it apart with its Japanese monster movies and posters plus it is the only dedicated sushi restaurant in the neighborhood. Last time we went recently, we ordered from the menu and got something totally different. When we asked about it, the owner told us that's how they always make it but I didn't know that or I wouldn't have ordered it. She didn't offer to make something else or put in a new order. She was so rude and nasty to us like it was our fault for not knowing. I mean she was scowling at me! She was also berating us within earshot to some employees. Why would you do that to a paying customer? I don't appreciate being treated poorly anytime but especially in front of my children and certainly not when I'm spending a lot of money on mediocre food. I am done with Ebisu. I am also a business owner and I would not have lasted 13 years with that spiteful ugliness. I would much rather go to Old Heights Bistro, Samurai Blue or Ichiban which all have consistently quality sushi and have never treated me so disrespectfully. Customer service matters!

Yelp
Pretty reliable and decent sushi. Locals love this, but I've been underwhelmed. Glad they are there and wish them well. Parking is an issue.
