"A mainstay for over 40 years in Cannon Beach, Ecola Seafoods Restaurant & Market has all the local seafood you might want, either fresh-fried or in an expansive deli case. Big hunks of batter-fried Pacific cod, halibut, wild salmon, and tuna appear on the menu year-round, alongside large prawns, calamari, and razor clam baskets with the same thin, crunchy fries. Ecola Seafoods supplies the restaurant with fish from a local fleet, so it’s worth asking about the fresh catch of the day. On a sunny afternoon, you can’t beat the second-story deck seating." - Jennifer Burns Bright

"Open since 1993, this seafood market is renowned for fresh oysters, Dungeness crab, clams, and albacore tuna. The family that runs Ecola has been fishing the Oregon Coast since 1977, ensuring incredibly fresh seafood. Patrons can enjoy their meal on the restaurant’s rooftop patio or take it for a beach picnic." - Molly Allen

"After a fire swept through this Cannon Beach landmark in July 2018, the Beckman family rebuilt Ecola Seafoods Restaurant & Market with a cozier seating area and expansive deli case. Now you can sit outside on the second-story deck, too. Big hunks of batter-fried Pacific cod, halibut, wild salmon, and tuna appear on the menu year-round, alongside large prawns, calamari, and razor clam baskets with the same thin, crunchy fries. Ecola Seafoods supplies the restaurant with fish from its own boats, so it’s worth it to ask which fish are local and fresh that day." - Jennifer Burns Bright

"Among the seafood options in Cannon Beach, busy Ecola Seafoods hits every mark with fresh catch from a multi-vessel fishing family, a fish market for takeaway fillets and shellfish, and welcoming indoor and outdoor dining areas. The seafood-and-chips baskets arrive fresh and hot, overflowing with fried Pacific cod, halibut, prawns, razor clams, and more. Gluten free? Try the house-made clam chowder, which is also pescetarian." - Alli Fodor, Jennifer Burns Bright

As we strolled along the coastline, the salty breeze guiding us toward our next adventure, we made a spontaneous stop at a little restaurant nestled by the beach. The scent of fresh seafood drew us in, and within moments, we were seated, ready to indulge. The service was quick, almost as if they knew we had plans to catch the sunset. But it was the food that truly stole the show. The prawns—perfectly seasoned and tender—and the scallops, cooked to perfection, quickly became my favorites. Each bite was a reminder of why we love these little detours. With our appetites satisfied and smiles on our faces, we set off for the beach, knowing this wouldn't be our last visit. Next time, we’d be back for more.

Lots of items on the menu, including the same items listed in the display but by pound. I wanted the tiny shrimp with cocktail sauce, but not at the price they were selling it at. Instead, I got half a pound by the pound pricing with a cocktail sauce, it was ~$5, much less than the price in the display. We also got fish and chips, with clam chowder. The clam chowder was okay, the shrimp was okay, but the fish and chips were excellent. Easily one of the best fish I've tasted. The batter was good, the flavor was really good with added lemon too.

If you like (love) seafood and you’re visiting Cannon Beach, you have to stop here. You queue up and order up front, find yourself a table, and wait for your number/name to be called. We snagged a seat on the upstairs balcony and it was the perfect day. I ordered the crab dinner and my boyfriend got fish and chips and a chowder bread bowl. The bread bowl was okay, I feel like a regular cup/bowl of chowder with their garlic bread is better. My crab dinner was perfect, it comes with slaw, garlic bread, and a cup of chowder. The crab meat was so sweet paired with the garlic bread and chowder it was so filling and delicious. I could’ve eaten another whole crab 🤪

Google
A reliable and affordable place with seriously good and fresh dishes. They are a deli style place but, due to all those tourists, they are too crowded. Nevertheless the mussels were very good and everything else was done right. A good place.

Got the captain platter to share and try lots of different items. Everything is fried and delicious. House tartar sauce is good too. Sometimes busy but still quick service and nice deck for a lil sunset view

Google
We liked it so much we are here twice! Crab cakes were a big favorite, also had the Crab Dinner and halibut and cod fish n’ chips. The halibut is incredible! The crab was also excellent, and everyone enjoyed the chowder too. Highly recommend for a casual spot with terrific food!

Sarah M.

Google
10/10! Had the fish and chips (salmon), along with a side of Cole slaw which was perfectly flavored with the right amount of sweetness. Scanned the QR code to order online. Pick-up was seamless, and dined-in on their upper patio!

Google
I always stop here for lunch before going down to the beach. Great seafood and the fish and chips are always perfect; crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside + those crispy🤌🏼 resort style fries. I went with fried breaded shrimp bc I'm a shrimp girlie and it didn't disappoint.

Yelp
My go to spot in Cannon Beach. No matter how many times I visit I always come here rather than venturing elsewhere, the place is that good. The accessible and quick counter service ensures you're maximizing your time in Cannon Beach on the fun stuff. They also have ample seating and it's really nice whether you sit outside in the shaded but heated area, or the loft upstairs. The food is great. They batter their fish with something special, because it's slightly sweet but also savory and complements the fish well. The pieces they give are HUGE. Personally loved the salmon but you can't go wrong with any of the varieties. The shrimp is also coated in a more bread crumby like coating that is wonderfully crunchy. I also LOVED the fries. Crispy but still enough chew in the middle to make me feel like I'm actually eating a potato. The clam chowder left a little to be desired. Just didn't have the zing or zest I would have wanted from it, and not nearly enough clams. In the fresh bread bowl though, there's not much to complain about and I appreciated that there was no bacon in it. Crab Cakes can be skipped as well. More cake than crab really. For a solid crab cake, you gotta drive down to Depoe Bay, but if Cannon Beach is where you gotta be, Ecola Seafoods will round out your beach trip to make it the perfect experience!

Yelp
Was driving along the coast so of course had to drop by to get some seafood at cannon beach to try their food out. We went in for lunch and it was decently crowded but the lines moved quick. They had so many options, I was tempted to get the smoked mussels but I didn't get the chance this time. Their Dungeness crab was also huge, and also tempting. Maybe next time! Here are what I ordered: 1. Clam steamers with clam chowder, garlic bread, and coleslaw. (5/5) The clams were so yummy and tasted fresh! it didn't taste fishy at all, and was definitely the highlight of my meal. The lemon that came with it added a nice flavor to them. Initially when I got the order they forgot the clams but they gave me some right away when I brought that up with them. 2. Fried Scallop basket with fries (3/5) It wasn't bad, but I think I prefer scallops grilled. I found that they were nicely cooked but without much flavor if you didn't dip them into the tartar sauce. Probably wouldn't get it next time. They are also on the pricy side but it is to be expected in a tourist area that sells seafood. Good vibes!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch with mom and toddler. Ordered two pieces of fish, clam strips and chips, cup chowder, and hot dog. Sat upstairs but inside (windy, chilly) and were able to hear our order called over the speakers. Toddler loved the food, and this is my personal favorite spot for clam chowder. Always able to count on this spot when we come to Cannon Beach!

Yelp
Great seafood! The best in town, and I have tried them all in CB. The crab melt is on garlic bread with thousand island dressing and melted Tillamook Cheddar over fresh Dungeness Crab. So delicious! Fries were crispy and well seasoned. The shrimp and crab boat cocktail was a great appetizer. Always friendly staff, always fresh food, and fast service. You can dine in, order take out, or order online as well.

Roger M.

Yelp
Sustainable and highest quality seafood on Oregon coast from fishing boats that troll and line catch - ecologically and conscientious respecting our great Oregon coast and its sea life. What else is great - fresh fish off the boat cooked up daily is so delicious. We met up with friends. Walk up and order. It is a really busy place cuz it's so good. Line moves fast. Seat yourself inside or on the outside sidewalk or second deck patio. Enjoy a fish feast like we did chow down scrumptious grilled salmon, clam chowder, crab & shrimp cocktail boat and garlic toast. We had just finished mountain biking at Klootchy creek and I was so hungry and my mouth watering looking at lots of seafood on our table, I forgot to take any pictures. But trust me you'll love it too!

Crescida J.

Yelp
The food here is served very quickly! We ordered a prawn cocktail because the regular shrimp was teeny tiny. It was delicious. The salmon cakes had too many competing flavors (bell peppers?) and did not need the white sauce. Plus the salmon cakes were overcooked. However, the restaurant is in a great location with lots of outdoor seating. Only one bathroom stall for the whole place, which could be challenging when there are more tourists.

Steffie S.

Yelp
Excellent fish and chips washed down with a local beer! This joint was jumping. A little too busy for my taste-not enough seating, and kinda loud due to cement floors. This review is not to fault them for being a popular spot, I'm just saying it's short on atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. The food was yummy but pricey. I was able to find a place to sit down and really enjoyed my fish and chips. The staff were polite and as expedient as possible. Come before or after the lunch rush for a better experience. (I was on a tour, so no choice). Enjoy a quick and delicious bite here, then explore this cute seaside town.

Patty W.

Yelp
This is an order at the counter and pick up when your name is called kind of a place. Cute decor including a number of punny tshirts. The food was just solidly alright and pretty pricy to boot. A large (condiment sized) crab cocktail was $15 and a bowl of clam chowder was $10. I thought the clam chowder was pretty decent but the crab was salty salty albeit fresh. I guess I could come back for that clam chowder but everything else seemed overpriced.

Dennise K.

Yelp
If you are in search of a perfect bowl of chowdah, you will likely find it here. Pair it up with some garlic bread and a cold beer, and you are good to go. Plenty of seating indoors and out.

Kailey C.

Yelp
Contrary to some other reviews, I thought the staff was incredibly kind both times I stopped in on my visit. They let me know which fish were caught that day (halibut, salmon), and also tossed in an extra piece of each! The crab cocktail was juicy and delicious, though a little fishy. Wish they had a fresh crab sandwich without melted cheese - tried the crab melt and the cheese melted on top was overpouring and cooked the crab a bit too much. Overall, a great stop and would return - be sure to get takeout and eat on the beach!

Liliana A.

Yelp
Came here before hitting up the beach and it was just what we needed. We ordered an oyster shooter, shrimp cocktail, fish n chips and popcorn shrimp. All of it was super good! You just order up front and wait for your number to be called. If you are upstairs, they'll announce it on the speaker.

Arnab D.

Yelp
Stopped by this restaurant earlier in the day for a quick meal and opted to get the fish and chips with halibut. 4 small to medium size pieces that tasted good and average fries cost $30. There was no table side service and the default gratuity was 18 percent, which only added to the price of the small dish. There is limited seating for a group of 4 or more people. Extremely pricey for what was served and I would prefer another place over it. The gratuity scene is getting obscene post Covid.

Gia M.

Yelp
Good seafood if not somewhat expensive. how are you get what you pay for! My husband had the halibut and I had the fried oysters both very good!

Ben C.

Yelp
$$$ Way too expensive for reduced portions. A grocery market should have more seafood for the buck, no? Service poor. No local friendliness, just mass touristy humdrum. Being a little off the main street, you might have a better chance here to grab a quick bite if you do not need a full restaurant table experience. But even then Ecola will ask for a tip? It is just not what it used to be.

Todd H.

Yelp
The place has really expanded. There are plenty of out door seating and even an upper level. A fire pit for those wanting that experience. Service is pretty quick when both lines are going. If you are so inclined you can scan in and skip the line pay for everything and just wait for them to call your number or send you a text. A little complications as they seem to call out numbers and then send text . It always seems to work out. A couple people forgot their number or entered the wrong number for text so just be aware and make sure you put in the right number or be in order limbo. IDK it's one of the few places that gets it and the constant line Fresh seafood in a coastal town. Granted there is not a port near the town that I am aware of but this place goes out of somewhere catches it and serves it up. Its just better than most of the restaurants serving frozen and or the same thing around town. There are a couple hidden gems if you will and this place is one of them.

Dimple S.

Yelp
$$$$ expensive! Fresh grilled halibut & salmon with Cajun seasoning, lemons, and tartar sauce. Comes with Cole slaw & chowder. Crab cake was yummy. Mixed with cream cheese & minced veggies lightly fried on each side. Loved the fried scallops & captains basket. Hated the oysters. Fish and chips was very yummy with a light batter. The fries were yummy. Wish you could sub it for a different side. We ate here 2x on our trip

Kennan K.

Yelp
It's local seafood, but it lacks charm and friendliness. Be prepared for fresh seafood pricing. Balcony and out door seating options are nice for those sunny days:)

Tony C.

Yelp
Great little seafood market and restaurant in Cannon Beach. There were not a lot of tables, and it was busy during lunch because of fresh caught seafood being sold. Best fish and chips that I've had in a long time and friendly staff working hard to get the food out fast. Highly recommend to anyone visiting and wanting great, fresh seafood!

MJ D.

Yelp
This is a terrific stop for family lunch after playing at the beach. We have never been disappointed here. The fish & chips are done right, and the chowder is my personal favourite. There is a decent kids menu, and many other tasty "extras" at the counter to choose from. The staff members are helpful and patient while you decide on which delicious item you will select. There is a great outdoor seating area, complete with a fireplace table. Or on colder days, eat inside on the main level, or upstairs in the quiet little room. Find a clean bathroom on either level. I highly recommend this place, and we will be back again for sure!

Wendy S.

Yelp
My favorite meal on my trip. The crab melt was amazing! Plenty of seating and the line wasn't very long. Food came out quickly.

Jonathan N.

Yelp
If in cannon beach and you have that craving for some really fresh local seafood look no further than Exola Seafood. Fresh local seafood is available to eat in restaurant or to pack up and take with you and a good selection too. We had the fish & chips and a whole steamed crab and ohhh so fresh and delicious. They have some local beers and wine by the can as well. Great space outside to eat or upstairs on large deck so it's a great place to check out. Cannon beach public parking is located across from the restaurant too. Go get you some seafood!

S L.

Yelp
I always stop here for a crab and shrimp boat cocktail on my way out of town. So fresh!

Patricia E.

Yelp
The menu has not changed since the 70s, but oh, the prices have! Most of the food is fried, and when I ordered broiled halibut ($35.00), it was overcooked, to the point that it stuck in my throat. No halibut should die, to end up like that! Their idea of "greens" was cole slaw, or seaweed salad...with all that fresh fish and seafood, they could have done so much better, so this is maddening.

Mark S.

Yelp
This is a great spot for fresh seafood in Cannon Beach. A friend recommended this spot and we were very happy with the food. Super tasty halibut fish & chips and my wife loved the crab cakes. It's a counter service spot but the folks working the counter were super helpful and patient with our questions and offering suggestions when ordering. Bottom line, a great spot for lunch and a place we'll gladly visit again when in the area next.

Flory W.

Yelp
We came for the crab and shrimp cocktail! We came for the Fish & Chips. What we didn't get: restroom (across the street, theirs too) was not flashing 100%. Sorry, the plumbing wasn't working for you guys! (In the middle of our lunch, we ate at the bar, facing the window, we saw people using the restroom, so maybe it was fixed then. But we didn't have to go. I'd still give them 4 stars, we came for the FOOD!

Selena N.

Yelp
I really liked this place. I got the Seafood lover and it has everything I wanted in one order! The crab cakes were delicious, the clam chowder had zero bacon in it, garlic toast, and the Cole slaw was perfectly made. The service was quick too! We had just got done with Saddle Mountain so I was hungry. It is also a fish market. Everything looked so fresh and good there too. I'd definitely go back here if in the area!

Alex P.

Yelp
Came here thanks to a friend's recommendation. Not sure how to score this experience. It had good and bad but overall...PRICEY!!! I came to have one main dish....the whole crab. Crab dinner is $60 which includes the whole crab, coleslaw, garlic toast and clam chowder. The crab was phenomenal and tasted fresh! I don't remember the last time I ate a whole crab like this. It had a lot of meat. Chowder was kind of weird and no one ate it. Coleslaw also nothing special. Husband was not impressed with the crab cakes. And kids hamburger was sad. Definitely not worth the money to get anything here outside of seafood. Fries are good though.

Jonathan D.

Yelp
There is no table service here, and at the checkout counter they ask for gratuity starting at 18%. Crab cake is mostly breadcrumbs and butter. Cup of soup tastes like gritty, salty oatmeal. The only thing I liked was the slaw, which was fresh. With a hard cider, the total bill was $35.40. What a ripoff! I won't be back.

Anita M.

Yelp
Busy on the weekend, they offer QR code to order ahead of time or order in line. Find your own seating whenever available (has both indoor and outdoor seating 2 floors). Came here for the Dungeness crab combo and halibut fish and chips! Dungeness crab was very sweet and not salty, probably the best I've had in my life. They warm it up for you when made to order (expect to wait a lil longer as they steam it) and give you melted butter on side, but it was good as is! Halibut was very meaty and both batter and fries crispy! Clam chowder was very flavorful with generous amount of clams with nice firm bite to them. Coleslaw and garlic bread are pretty standard.

Lily C.

Yelp
Fresh seafood and they have razor clams! Also ample outdoor seating for large group. Bonus fireplace table outside when it is chilly. Also outdoor upstairs area for a view.

Theo B.

Yelp
Great tasting fish and chips. Fast and efficient service. They only give one container of tartar sauce per item regardless of size. They charge for additional. This place us a must go to on our Cannon Beach visits

MyAnne K.

Yelp
Clam chowder is still good but not worth it. Over the years, Ecola Seafoods have gained so much popularity, they use a loud speaker to call out orders now. It's so loud and obnoxious that you cannot enjoy your meal. Forcing me to eat my meal somewhere else. They hiked their prices higher than their competition. Their prices are higher then Pike Place Market vendors. They will nickel-and-dime you; charging a to-go fee, sauce, oyster crackers. There is nothing more disappointing to me than a greedy family-run-business. I almost never write poor reviews. This one is well deserved. GREEDY PEOPLE RUNNING THIS PLACE. Moe's is a much better option than Ecola Seafood.

Ati H.

Yelp
This place was suggested from the tour guide that we had, and the food was decent, but it was packed! It will take you at least an hour to have a meal and if you are on a tour, this is not the place for you. I had the clam chowder which was tasty not a whole lot of clams though. my boyfriend had the shrimp. Good luck, trying to find seating, but we were lucky to find some thing upstairs on the patio.

Brooke B.

Yelp
Food was amazing! The girl at the front was super kind. I will say that it was very loud and very crowded and hard to find parking, but all was well worth it. The only thing I wish was different was the chowder seemed more like a potato soup:/ I wish they had more clams in it. If you are looking for a crab meal I would 100% recommend dining here!!

Rob B.

Yelp
Very high prices, good food. It's windy up top outside. Nice atmosphere. Fish and coleslaw were good!

Cortlyn R.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! The seafood is so fresh. These were seriously the best fish and chips I ever had. I got the cod fish and chips and my Partner got the salmon fish and chips. Both were so tasty!!! I also loved the clam chowder! Usually the clam in clam chowder is super rubbery. But this one was just so Good and you could tell it was fresh. It's a little Pricey, but that is to be expected with seafood especially when it's fresh. The service was also great. The staff was very friendly! I personally love seafood places that are "deli style" where you just go to the counter to place your order. I like not being waited on and such and often times those are the best places. If you're in canon beach I definitely recommend stopping here for lunch.

Marissa F.

Yelp
Let's start with atmosphere. It has both inside seating and outdoor, and has 2 floors. It was busy when we went but it wasn't too difficult to find seating. Ordering was easy because you could do that on your phone or with the kiosk. We ordered for 3 ppl and it took about 30 minutes. I ordered the cod-fish n chips, my son kids meal-fish and chips, and my husband ordered grilled halibut and a side order of clam chowder. If you're looking for something light, the grilled halibut is a good choice. The fish n chips were crunchy on the outside and nice and flaky on the inside. After eating 2 pieces of it, I did feel like it was too heavy on the batter. Needed a break. We thought the chowder was a bit too salty. Not a bad option to try. We didn't really get to talk with any of the employees aside from picking up our order, so not much to say about customer service since it's self serve. We spent about $85 for 3 people.

Corey W.

Yelp
The jumbo prawns are amazing! The service was good and quick! The all round vibe was a bit off but still ocean vibes. It is a bit pricey though.

Emma F.

Yelp
Great clam chowder by the oregon coast. I loved that it came with all different types of seafood chopped up as well as potatoes to make the soup a bit thicker. Was a nice little afternoon pit stop after running around the beach!

Sharon G.

Yelp
Delicious halibut fish and chips....not too greasy and crispy coating. Fries were perfect. Enjoyed a nice sunny experience on the patio.

Sean R.

Yelp
Had some great fish n chips n Dungeness crab here. Good Fresh Fish is pricey yes, we spent $75 on a filling tasty meal for 3 tho so not crazy. And we got all the best stuff. The Captains platter (which had a bit of everything) and the Dungeness Crab meal which was a full Dungeness Crab, Clam Chowder and a bit of Texas Toast. Now I like crab ok and all but would never order it myself cause I think it's more work than it's worth. But since someone was there cracking it open and just handing me the meat to dip in butter and shovel in my mouth so I thought it was pretty good. The breading for the fish was very good - it was very light but crisp. I usually prefer the cheaper, crustier, (some might say shittier) breading like those you find on cafeteria chicken tenders but I really liked this one. The building is pretty funky, it looks like it used to be the leasing office for an apartment complex lol but it's cool, they got some rooftop seating too. Counter service.

Robert K.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place, so I had to try it out. The fish and chip were very good, the fresh cod fish was flaky and moist, and the seasoned crust was lightly coated and fried to perfection. The fried popcorn shrimp and clams were a little too over fried. The clams were all dried up. The shrimps were alright, but again, I wish it wasn't fried too long. The clam chowder is very good but I wish there were more clams and a bit thicker. Surprisingly, the seasoned fries were very good. Overall, it's not bad if you want to try some local seafood in a tourist spot.

Lindsay P.

Yelp
Salmon and chips, cod and chips, Cole slaw, all good....excellent fries and the batter on the fish is scrumptious. My only complaint is the malt vinegar....we had to ask for it at the counter, and it comes in tiny packets that are ALMOST impossible to open. Why not just have the bottles to shake on your fish? Easier, cheaper, less plastic packaging. We enjoyed outdoor seating, but indoor ok too....just noisy.

Aiden

Yelp
Found a decent restaurant at a tourist spot. I ordered the crab dinner and fish and chips, and both were delicious. The crab was substantial for the price. Parking is free on the street, but it's limited, so you need to look carefully.

Becca M.

Yelp
I asked a lot of locals before deciding where to eat my fish and chowder - so many pointed me in this direction and I'm so glad they did!! The real sellers for me were 1) the fresh fish on ice you choose from when ordering 2) no bacon in the chowder and so much seafood 3) the fireside eating experience on a chilly evening. I would eat here again everyday if I could. Look no further for the best fresh seafood experience.

Ashley F.

Yelp
I rarely give bad reviews, I know how hard it is to own a business these days but unfortunately I had a bad experience here while in Portland. I originally ordered the shrimp melt, which was shrimp on top of open faced bread with melted cheese. I should've known better, but it sounded cute. When I bit into the dish it was cold on the inside. The cheese was melted and hot but the shrimp was cold and I immediately couldn't finish. The ladies behind the counter were really sweet about it! They did explain that the shrimp comes cold, but I wish it said that on the menu because that is a weird texture thing going on and I couldn't stomach it at all. I was able to replace the order with something and I just opted to be safe and got the chicken tenders and fries. This was very basic and not very flavorful, but I was starving. I did also order the clam chowder which was good.

Devin R.

Yelp
I always stop here while in Cannon Beach. The seafood is always tasty and fresh and the view from the top deck is wonderful. The only downsides are the prices and how crowded it gets, especially in the summer.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Pretty much every time I go to cannon beach I make a stop at Ecola seafoods. It's like k just can't stay away!! And any trip to the coast isn't complete without fish. Love that they have the choice between different kinds of fish for a fish and chips - even salmon! And so many different options for a seafood basket like fried scallops, mussels, calamari, etc. it's a must stop and they are always super efficient even when there is a huge line. Would still recommend ordering ahead of time and then your order will just be ready when you get there! For the best day ever, take your fish to the beach and just enjoy :)
