Boosting America’s Regional Farms in the Era of Big Food | Eater

"A Portland-based nonprofit built a physical food hub with roughly 2,000 square feet of cold storage, food-prep space, office facilities, and a bicycle-based distribution system to help small producers store, prepare, and efficiently transport products within the city. The hub complements a two-year Ag of the Middle accelerator that provides a business boot camp, grant application assistance, and technical help so producers can transition from direct-to-consumer sales to wholesale, retail, and institutional channels; program participants have collectively increased sales, won significant grants, and created new jobs, illustrating the hub’s role as infrastructure that helps mid-sized, value-added producers scale sustainably." - Virginia Gewin

Ecotrust is such a great venue! Heather was a huge help with planning our wedding! She made sure we stayed organized and guided us through the process until the big day. We had the best time on the rooftop terrace and Billy Frank Jr. Room. Our favorite part was the fact that our dog was able to be with us the ENTIRE time!!!! We'll always be grateful for Ecotrust, it was the perfect venue for our special day!

I’ve had the pleasure of working many events at Ecotrust, and it’s always been an absolute pleasure. From the moment I arrive, the staff is friendly and welcoming, making sure that I have everything I need to make the event a success. The venue itself is stunning. The decor is elegant and sophisticated, creating the perfect backdrop for a wedding. The rooftop patio is also excellent, adding to the overall atmosphere of the event. In terms of functionality, the venue is top-notch. The Irving Studio space is huge, and affords plenty of room for a cocktail and dinner area. One of the things that really stands out to me is the attention to detail that the staff put into every aspect of the event. From the table settings to the floor plan, everything is meticulously planned and executed, creating a truly memorable experience for everyone involved. Overall, I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful and functional space to host their wedding celebration. The staff are fantastic, the decor is stunning, and the overall experience is simply unforgettable. I really look forward to events at Ecotrust!

My partner and I got married on October 7th and we couldn’t have asked for a better venue to host our big day. We had a lot of things we wanted in a venue (indoor/outdoor space, contingency plans for weather, ADA accessible, etc.), and we found that Ecotrust has a lot of flexibility built into their set-up that met everything we were looking for. They also have excellent full-service catering partners, and that partnership really made the whole day run smoothly. We got lucky with a sunny fall day so we got to host the ceremony on the roof, but even the inside reception spaces were a beautiful backdrop. We worked with Heather Sparks and she was beyond fantastic! Planning a wedding can be overwhelming and she knows that, but she’s such a clear communicator and was a helpful guide to us as we made some big decisions. She was a big part of the success of our day and we feel lucky that we got to work with her.

Attended a Gala Fundraiser for Profile Theater on Friday evening (as a volunteer & a guest) in the newly opened Irving Street event space. The space is amazing and I throughly enjoyed myself (even though I was volunteering my time & energy) and I highly recommend this location for any nonprofit (or any organization for that matter). The room is great and there was plenty of room for our catering staff and our 140+ guests. Located on the NS Street Car line, there is also plenty of street parking. Ecotrust is a great company to work with!

I had my small wedding here in October of 2020. In the midst of all the regulations and setbacks, the staff at Ecotrust were so helpful, flexible and easy to work with. We used their rooftop for the ceremony and the Billy Frank Jr Room for the reception, both beautiful spaces. I especially loved the rooftop which has an urban, yet cozy and intimate feel. Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful Portland venue! It was stunning and I hope to photograph more weddings here in the future!

Went to an event here. It was easy to find and free parking after 5pm next to building The reason for the advice to buy ticket in advance it is brcuase it was a paid event I attended 😀

If you are looking for a beautiful rooftop in Portland for your wedding, look no further. As a wedding photographer, I can be picky about aesthetics and flow of a space, and this rooftop is just dreamy. Stunning 180 degree views of historic NW Portland with the hills of Forest Park in the distance. There is a huge gorgeous fireplace as well as cafe lighting, which provides a soft glow for evening festivities. All around a wonderful option for a couple looking for a location for a modern downtown Portland wedding.

Yelp
My job had an event at Eco Trust recently. From the moment we started discussing renting the space went smoothly. All of Eco Trusts spaces are clean, especially the bathrooms. The women's bathroom also had hygiene supplies which I thought was cool. We rented the Billy Frank Jr. conference room and another room on the second floor, and we were able to customize the space to fit our needs. The space we rented comfortably fit around 60 people. Eco Trust has everything you could need and more. Po'Sines is near, there is a Hot Lips Pizza downstairs, and I would highly recommend this space for your next event.

Yelp
I attended my first event here over the weekend The Margarita and Tequila Festival I was told this is the 3rd year they've thrown it, and it's a beautiful building with an amazing rooftop View, the music venue was fun to watch and dance too also :) The Festival was everything Tequila you'd hope for. We played giant Jenga and cornhole before utilizing the photo op props set up in the corner. $25 (2018)a ticket gets you entrance and 3 margarita samples. They had tacos and snacks for purchase or you could enter the pizza parlor since once you got your entry bracelet you're free to come and go during the event, can't wait to come for the next event. Might even get remarried for my upcoming 25th wedding anniversary at this location it has such a great use of space. The parking wasn't that bad we arrived around 5ish and only had to walk up a block and a half which anyone who has tried to park on Saturday evening in downtown Portland knows is a short walk compared to most spots....

Yelp
This is a very cool space in the Pearl District that used to be an old warehouse, but has since been converted to a retail marketplace by utilizing green building techniques. One of my favorite secrets about this building is that it has a beautiful outside terrace overlooking the city. The rooftop space is open to the public during business hours, which makes for a fun lunchtime getaway. There are chairs and tables available, so the space can fill up quickly on a sunny day. There is no need to purchase food from one of the purveyors to utilize the rooftop space, so go ahead and brown bag-it and head up the stairs to enjoy the backdrop of our beautiful city.

Yelp
Although I've only walked through this building, it seems like it would make for a beautiful event space. The old, mostly wood, architecture is on full display. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Portland.

Yelp
I've attended a few events (including a 20 yr hs reunion last summer) and also been a vendor for a few wedding and events at this venue. This venue is versatile, very well run, central and a wonderful concept of wonderful people doing excellent things.

Yelp

Yelp
I agree with Angela B's glowing 5-star review. The EcoTrust building is smack dab in the center of the Pearl, and is a humble reminder that the "Posh Pearl" did indeed used to be an Industrial area worthy of the Lorax's shame. Over a century has passed, and now this converted warehouse has been revitalized by Ecotrust as the mecca of everything "green" "sustainable" in Portland. It is a unique paradox of Portland's namesake days of Industrial yore - and our future through conservation and innovation. More importantly - it is beautiful! And you MUST take Angela B's tip and head up to the rooftop space for lunch.

Yelp
You would hope that the Ecotrust would be conscious of the neighbors. During events speakers are at full blast towards the residents across the street. This has been brought to their attention by many residents and they have no response. You would think that a non profit with a claim to have such a connection with the community would care about the neighbors. Not so much. What a huge disappointment.

Yelp
We had our wedding on the Ecotrust rooftop and are so glad we did! Yes, it is a little spendy, but try finding a better rooftop for a wedding in Portland. It was hot up there for our 4:30 festivities in August, but the sunset was stunning and we loved dancing under the cafe lights till we reluctantly packed up and left at 10pm. I have to give special kudos to Lauren Ward, who shepherded us through the process and all the details. I would have a nervous breakdown if I had her job for a week... but she carries it off with absolute calm and professionalism. She rolled with our last-minute changes and did not even once appear flustered. Great job!

Yelp
The roof of the Ecotrust building is one of the best spots in NW portland for an event. The view is spectacular, the space is generous and comfortable, and it's just so very Portland. Echotrust has a fantastic event planning team, and a great selection of catering companies. It's fun, impressive (great for out-of-town client meetings), and delicious!

Yelp
Go to Laughing Planet and get a beer. Walk with your beer towards the elevator. Get into the elevator and press the button for floor three (its rather slow, take a sip of beer during the ride if you would like). When the doors open, walk out and turn left towards the patio. Go onto the patio and enjoy your beer. It is really that simple.

Yelp
We held our late summer wedding on the Ecotrust terrace. This venue is a magical place for such an event, as you are perched atop the building but still nestled into The Pearl District. The city skyline backed by the West Hills is gorgeous from every direction, and it provides ideal conditions for a variety of photo opportunities. As the event drifted from late afternoon into the night, and the buildings gradually illuminated, the terrace and its surroundings seemed to evolve and become beautiful in numerous ways. Lauren - one of the most cool-headed and professional people you could ask to work with as a site contact - seamlessly facilitated the arrangements and provided all of the information we needed to host our guests in a fashion that made everyone feel special. From layout to execution of the plan, everything felt personalized and effortless (though so much was clearly going on behind the scenes). We are also very grateful to a staff worked hard to accommodate us, despite some last-minute question marks regarding the weather. We wanted a wedding that felt stylish and elegant, and we wanted a planning process that was uncomplicated. Selecting Ecotrust made that combination possible, and they facilitated what my new wife and I consider to be the best day of our entire lives.

Yelp
This is a great building to hang out and work in. The owner is often there with his adorable dog walking around carrying his own leash. The location is very convenient and everyone is very friendly. Its not too loud and I've had several meetings with my clients. Coffee is decent and the hot lips pizza smell is every present.

Yelp
Just worked with Ecotrust folks for an event for our university's alumni. Jeanne and Chad were professional through and through and set us up for a fun and relaxed event. They were always responsive and accommodating, went the extra mile. We'll definitely plan to use them again.

Yelp
Awesome building, great crowds there on the picnic tables outside on a nice day, and highly recommend as a place to meet in the Pearl due to food options Laughing Planet Cafe and Hot Lips Pizza. Plenty of choices at each and neat indoor seating as well. Parking might be a little rough, but make the world a better place & use the rail/streetcar if possible!

Yelp
We had our wedding at Ecotrust - ceremony on the terrace and reception in the conference room - and it was spectacular. We were aiming to show our guests a very "Portland" experience, and this venue was just the ticket. The Ecotrust event planning team is thorough and professional - especially Lauren, who was our main contact. They gave us all the information we needed for each decision along the way, and were very present and available to our planner and the other vendors we worked with. Don't be put off by the fact that they have a list of required caterers, etc. that you have to work with if you do an event with, because they have chosen carefully and have selected some high quality companies to work with. They know what they're doing. The space was set up exactly how we wanted it, and we felt very taken care of!

Yelp
We were planning on having our wedding ceremony and reception on the terrace. It looked beautiful and we love Portland. I had to plan to wedding in 6 months due to an ill family member and all of it would be out of my own pocket. We worked with the event coordinator going back and forth over details. When we were ready to book the venue, she popped on us an extra $250 per hour for a manditory 3 total hours for setup and breakdown. My fiancee asked her days before for an actual total cost including taxes, etc, so we would know if we could even afford the entire cost before turning other venues away. She forgot to mention the extra $750 charge for 3 additional hours which does make an impact on a wedding budget that we expressed cannot be changed due to us paying for it ourselves. I guess setup and breakdown were not a part of the venue charge? It stated we had the venue for 4 hours and didnt mention there being additional hours added which would be handy to know. Ultimately, I saw it as being dishonest if you say you have the venue for 4 hours when its really 7 hours you have it and you're being billed for. That changes things a lot when considering almost doubling what base cost you said it was in the first place. I was disappointed as I have to plan this wedding in a short amount of time and I thought we had everything figured out until we got hit with $750. Then we had to scurry to find another venue that fit our needs and budget which was stressful. Luckily we found one! If they know you have a limited budget, they should be frank with you about the total cost. If they charge the same fee for every event or wedding universally, then just tell us what our cost would be so we dont waste your time or our own. I wish our experience would have been different because I really liked the venue!!!
