After the UNLV football game, I stopped here for dinner. I had only been here once before--during Covid--and it was take out only with the dining room closed. I enoyed my takeout and knew I had to come back. Last night was the perfect chance.
The place was slammed and I gave them my name and phone number som they could text me when a table was ready. They asked me if I was willing to sit at the bar and I answered yes. In a brief time, they motioned me over and took me into the bar. There was a brief stand off with some patrons who had just walked into the bar and seated themselves. The manager set them straight, and I was given one of the seats.
My server was Michelle, a Jill of all trades. She worked the bar, served in the bar area, and was constantly on the move yet attentive to everything such as refilling my iced tea twice.
I ordered fideo soup, steak ranchero, and ended with flan. The soup was rich and had a good amount of noodles. The menu says the steak ranchero is stuffed wiht peppers, but it's not really. I asked for rare and that's the way it was cooked. It's topped with green chiles and spices and covered with mushrooms and their own queso sauce. Along with the steak, there was rice and refried beans. I had a choice of corn or flour tortillas and I chose flour.
The steak was cooked perfectly and the topping of green chiles and mushrooms along with the queson sauce made for a great meal. The rice and beans were standard. The flan ranks near the top of flans I've had. My wife's aunt used to make flan for us and this is equal to her homeamde version which was excellent!
The bar turned out to be a really enjoyable place to eat. Good food and I got to watch USC knocking ND around! Michelle, as I said before, was great with the service and with a friendly personality.
Eddie's will be on my radar and I won't wait two years to return.
