Farm to table and doing it right. Meaning, in the days long ago, farm to table seemed to mean just fresh ingredients and a changing menu with the seasons. Now it seems to mean something more than that. Yes, fresh ingredients. Most likely a changing menu. More importantly, however, a completely fresh outlook on what ingredients are used and how they come together.
Before the main meal came out, a small sample of grilled watermelon and feta was delivered to the table that was simply wonderful. It was followed by a simple salad of butter lettuce with an amazing orange dressing -- nothing else was needed to make the combination perfect.
For the main course, I had hand rolled cavatelli -- brown butter, bread crumbs, goat cheese, heirloom tomato. Again, I am not going to ever get this anywhere else and the way the ingredients come together is magic.
Put all of this in a small space with wonderful service, and you have Eden. The only downside I have is the pre-charge needed to reserve a table on OpenTable. Yes, you get charged nothing if you show, but I think it is something like $25 for a no-show. After seeing how small the place is I understand and forgive them on this point.
The place is also not the easiest to find. There is a small triangular - shaped park in front of it and the road that separates the park from the restaurant seems to be pedestrian only. This, combined with a small sign, makes spotting it from an Uber not the easiest of things to do. However, be patient, it is there and is worth going to. Just make that reservation to ensure you have access to a table.
