Birthday shots behind the bar = Horrible service to guests.
With a huge influx of guests visiting Atlanta for The Big Game there are many parties and events to choose from. Shout out and kudos to @Vonthepromoter for Friday's day party at Circa. It was a great idea for locals and visitors. Too bad you chose Cafe Circa.
My experience with bar manager Crystal was the worst customer service I've experienced in my adult life.
Started off well. I dined on a lunch of sliders and some amazing veggies. I added a cocktail (Jameson and Ginger) and let the DJ's choice of ATL bangers lead me into the 1st heaven.
When I presented Crystal with my credit card and the 2 tickets that were given to pay I was ripped from heaven and plunged into a hellish encounter.
1. Overcharged - How can you overcharge when the tickets are there in living color?
2. No accountability taken on Crystal's part- Instead of apologizing for her mistake she demanded to know how I got 2 tickets, (insert puzzled look) snatched the bill and proceeded to take shortcuts to remedy the error all while telling me "I'm trying to help YOU"
3. Refusal to honor customers request- I asked Crystal to provide me with the receipt with the original charge to my c.c. "No" "I don't know where it is" "It's in the garbage" "It doesn't work this way"
Anything but yes.
4. Abhorrent behavior- I asked for a manager (that may have been better suited to talk to people) to which she replied "I am the manager and there is no one else."
I know with certainty that she would never have the ability to manage this establishment in her own. Her behavior showed this on every level.
I never wavered on my request for documentation to support the financial debit.
When Crystal became loud I asked her to lower her tone. She did not.
I endured approx 5 minutes of her raised voice telling me "I do this" "I've been doing this for 5 years" "Breadcrumbs isn't set up this way" etc.
She shoved the POS device in my face which showed the error ticket.
I decided to take a picture of the POS screen showing the overcharged amount. That would have been all I needed, but Crystal grabbed it using profanity towards us. Put it at the back bar using profanity about us with her bar staff accompanied by the stereotypical and immature head wag. What a horrible example of leadership.
At this point I checked out mentally and swiveled around in my chair. Why? I refuse to engage with this type of person. I refuse to allow you to trigger a very well earned and not-so-nice response, so you no longer deserve any of my attention.
The gentlemen next to me asked what was going on, they were curious about the bar managers behavior too.
We have conversation about what is happening next to me with my friend and the bar mgr sporting black out sunglasses. I ponder if the alcohol is all that's led to this encounter.
My lunch companion had taken on the attempt to speak with Crystal.
I re-engaged when I heard my friend say "Why are you yelling?"
5. Lies- Guess what. Crystal slammed the ticket I requested 20 minutes ago on the bar counter. I guess it wasn't in the garbage after all.
I grabbed the ticket, along with the "adjustments", and removed myself and my friend from the bar.
As we're walking to the door my friend hears Crystal request security. She was asked "do you want them out or away from the bar?" "I want them out of here!"
I'm at the front door requesting a manager at this time and she's still on a drunken power trip.
5. Lack of understanding-
The 1 star Cafe Circa gets is because of Leila (sp?) Leila is the g.m.
Now, I will tell you that I saw Leila behind the bar at one point while Crystal was putting on her show. Why she didn't intercede I'll never know. Why would the general manager allow staff to perform in such a way? Huge shoulder shrug. She didn't seem surprised by Crystal and her act.
Anywho, she did come speak with me. (Outside, because I was asked to step outside and wait for her)
She listened and agreed that my request was not at all strange or unreasonable. She apologized and accepted accountability for the very poor behavior of her staff.
She asked us if we'd like to come back in, to which replied "no, thank you. "
She asked what I would like.
"My automatic tip to be reversed and an apology from Crystal"
She suggested that she have Crystal call me in a few days because she was sure she wouldn't apologize now and it was too busy to pull her from the bar.
Leila asked "what else can I do?"
I responded, "You decide what you should do to make this situation right."
Leila asked me to give her a moment. She went inside and came back with RECEIPTS showing full reversal of all charges.
Bravo to the real management team for recognizing an employee that has difficulty in her position.
