The Best Sushi Restaurants in DFW

"There are tons of omakase spots in DFW these days. Why should you support this one? Well, to begin with, it’s locally-owned and one of the only omakase menus helmed by women chefs — not just in the Metroplex but in the world. For those who prefer the sushi counter, chef Keunisk Lee (formerly at Nobu) runs it and loves to put Korean twists that reflect his heritage on his creations." - Courtney E. Smith, Rachel Pinn

12 Stellar Sushi Restaurants Around DFW

"One of the greats is just sitting there in an Irving strip mall. Head in for a serving of sushi with a side of Texas. Chef Keunsik Lee has worked at the Nobu group, which is renowned for its excellent sushi, and Lee’s clever incorporation of tacos and tostadas will make even sushi-adverse Texans feel right at home." - Courtney E. Food and service are always reliably excellent here at Edoko. I always trust the chef and the omakase dining option. A great selection of fish and uni from Japan. If you love uni, it’s a great place to eat imported Hokkaido Uni!

Quiet and nice place , service is good , we tried couple sushis there , it’s good but not the best, I give it 4star because I tried better and more delicious rolls in other places . It’s not my first choice .

Edoko Omakase is such a wonderful sushi restaurant in the Las Colinas area. I stopped by for lunch while I was in town for work, and was so satisfied that I went back for dinner at night. I opted for the omakase at dinner which was spread across 6 courses (including dessert). The star of the show is definitely Chef Jun's nigiri. His craft is immaculate. The fish is fresh, there's a perfect amount of variety, and it's not overbearing with sauce or toppings so you can appreciate the fish. I think the 5-piece nigiri sampler is perfect for someone who wants to experience something a little different than just rolls. I would've loved to see a larger nigiri-focused menu option, but I think the 5+ a la carte also works perfect. For the first couple dishes, I think the presentation could use a bit of flair (particularly the chawanmushi). I'm also not a huge fan of aspic, but that's more personal. The Foie Gras Risotto was delicious, although quite a bit of a jump in umami/flavor than the more mild appetizers. Sara and her team are wonderful and you can tell the passion they put into the business! Will definitely come back when I'm in the area again.

Google
Elegant place with really good food. Lots of new or rare options on the menu, which you won't find in most sushi restaurants (unique). Interesting and inventive specialty drink menu. It was quiet, nice, delicious, but not uncomfortably pretentious. Our waitress was great!

Google
A hidden gem amongst the DFW restaurant scene and a much better option than any of the fashionable Dallas uptown places. The food is always delicious and the fish is fresh. The Omakase is a testament to the chef's skill and creativity. The menu is constantly evolving and it will have something for everybody. The service is excellent and the servers are always friendly. Edoko Omakase also has a superb selection of sake to complement any meal. All of this combined with reasonable prices makes Edoko a top choice for sushi.

Google
This spot is a hidden gem. That sushi rice flavor and texture is excellent. The fish specials are flown in from Japan and chef says they have the same supplier as Hatsuyuki. Food style and quality is excellent. It is simple and elegant in a more true edo style sushi. Contrary to alot of other spots the flavors aren't drowned in mayo based sauces. Their new menu items were a great hit for my tastes. Texture and flavors are awesome I recommend the fries green beans especially. Their tempura is lightly battered and deliciously crispy. Chef sent out a small osecchi box that had some fun pickled dishes to go with the bottle of sake I ordered. Speaking of sake. Edoko easily has one of the best sake selections in dfw. The sakes would all be highly rated in Japan and they range across all spectrums of the sake taste profile. I'd honestly go just to sit at the bar and drink their sake menu down. Rec would be the dassai 45 as they pour it from 1.8!

Google
This is an incredibly nice experience from start to finish. I did feel like I could have gotten more quantity in most other places but the quality was top notch putting it in the same category of authentic sushi I had in Japan. They accommodated my food allergies of egg, gluten, and dairy without any issues but I couldn't order the Omakase because the food is pre marinated in early that had gluten. Overall this was a nice change of pace that I can easily recommend, but it comes with a price.

Google
This is the most reasonably priced HIGH quality sushi place we have found in Dallas area. We come here for special events and the service has always been amazing. We have never needed reservations. Last time we tried the full tasting menu which is the way to go! They also have an all nigiri tasting which we will do next time for sure. Highlights: the oysters with caviar were surprisingly our favorites. Dress is pretty casual so this is perfect if you just want to relax and eat delicious sushi.

Yelp
Definitely a higher-quality, higher-priced Japanese / sushi option in Irving. $100+ a person and you're not going to leave full but you will leave satisfied. Quality of what they offer is great. Service is helpful / friendly. Atmosphere nice once you find the place tucked behind the main road next door to an LA Fitness. Check out Cafe Hana next door if they're open!

Yelp
A low key sushi spot in Irving if you're craving some decent sushi and sashimi! Although they don't serve the highest quality fish, it still taste pretty good. For their nigiri, their rice to fish ratio is amazing (less rice and more fish). Their service is unbelievable as well.

Yelp
Since they opened back in 2020, I've become a regular for their lunch. Their food is absolutely amazing every time I stop by. My usual order is the lunch bento box, as I usually get either the nigiri or the sashimi bento. The food is served in a traditional wooden box and is very well presented. I typically get the tuna roll to accompany the sushi pieces and everything always tastes super fresh. The staff is super friendly and very attentive to their customers. Highly recommend and I'll continue to be a regular.

Yelp
This place has good food but it's more of a high end fine dining experience so expect to pay a bit more than your typical sushi resturant. I was the only one there as they had just opened for the day and food/Service was extremely quick for obvious reasons. Food was really fresh but damn it was kind of pricey. I think as the title explains itself, it would probably only be worth it to go here for the omakase experience. I ordered a tuna avocado roll, tartar, and pork belly bun with an alcoholic yuzu I think and it was almost $70. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 but biased because it wasn't that busy yet. Ambience: 5/5 beautiful and modern on the inside Maybe I'll return for the omakase experience!

Yelp
I always enjoy the creative Omakase dining experience and the wonderful service here at Edoko!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience we had tonight! Omakase for our table! I think what made our experience wonderful was our server Vanessa! She was very attentive and explained each item thoroughly! This is definitely for a special occasion, since it's super pricey but we'll worth it! See pictures, and go taste for yourself. Also get the uni shots! Best we ever had!

Yelp
I was super excited to eat here again. The first time was delicious and I've only been craving more of the rich flavors of the freshest ingredients. The ceviche roll had me ready to explore more new flavors and build off my love for the hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar with roasted shishito yuzu garlic sauce). The hamachi kama (grilled yellowtail collar with roasted shishito yuzu garlic sauce). Our server Vanessa recognized us from our first visit and immediately I felt welcomed. This establishment is perfect for special occasions and a spot to really treat yourself to a gourmet experience. I learned you want to be classy here (the setting is upscale). Be sure to review your etiquette for omasake dining, and enjoy the chefs' skills to guide you into trying new things. My second experience began with a classic miso soup which had perfectly soft tofu and was bursting with flavor. Next, the sweet miso glazed king trumpet mushroom blew me away with its robustness accompanied by truffle oil and complemented with nori garnish, a spice blend on the side, and an even spicier scallion and horseradish dollop for those who like it hot. Lastly, but not at all the least, the pure vegetarian roll satisfied my craving for a reimagined salad. This roll is a genius design. The pure vegetarian roll was sweet, it was savory, it had a zing to it; and with so much happening in each bite there was intention and harmony. I found a new favorite roll. I was satisfied and had no ability to enjoy a dessert, but I cannot wait to visit again for a drink and dessert. Maybe next time rather than getting a table, I'll go to the bar seating and watch the chefs at work.

Yelp
Super high quality sushi in las Colinas. This place is very high quality and service is great. I came here on a random Saturday evening with our four year old and my partner. The place was not crowded but we did make a reservation online before arriving. We were promptly seated and checked out the menu. We quickly ordered the chicken karage, pork buns, and some edamame. We also got a couple of cocktails. I got their odoko old fashioned and we also got the leeche martini. The old fashioned was made with toki whisky and they used some super fancy Japanese ice!! I was beyond impressed to see such a well executed cocktail in the burbs. I opted for the chef sashimi platter and my partner got a spicy himachi roll. All were delicious but the salmon was the highlight on the chef sampler. Super nice presentation. The pork belly buns were on the dry side so that's the only thing I wish was better executed. The place is on the pricy side but not something I'd complain about given the quality. Just something to know when going in (one pieces of sashimi or nigiri is $5-12 depending on the cut).

Yelp
I travel about twice a month and everywhere I go, I seek out sushi. I found Edoko on Yelp and actually found a hotel nearby so I could go ( yeah I'm sushi crazy). I went my first night at about 4:30 pm and it was very quiet. I sat at the sushi bar and had the nigiri tasting menu. I was blown away. The fish was incredible. The service was top notch. So much so that my second and last night I went back, something I never do. The second night I went around 5:45 and it was busy but holy hell those sushi chefs work faster than anything I've ever seen. DO the nigiri tasting, the uni, the foie gras. DO sit with Sofia, what a wonderful and attentive server. Incredible and affordable.

Yelp
Great experience and food is always exceptional! The mushroom butter soy garlic appetizer is a favorite.

Yelp
Dined with my teen son, he and I completely enjoyed both the food and service. Dishes were all yummy with fresh and prepared with quality ingredients. I certainly will be going back.

Yelp
I LOVE sushi and have been wanting to try this place out for awhile. It's very cute inside. I made a reservation because I had no idea how long the wait would be around dinner time. There wasn't very many people in there. Which is fine for me. Servers are very quick and kind. I think the prices here are very affordable, and a really great place for sushi!

Yelp
I cheaped out and got the 10-piece chef's choice for $50. Was disappointed that it was two pieces of five types of sushi instead of 10 unique pieces. Nothing spectacular - salmon, tuna, yellowtail, scallops. I would have upgraded and ordered the nigiri omakase had I known there wouldn't be any variety. The menu doesn't have any descriptions for the sushi and the server offered no introduction for first timers. I came at 8:30 on a Weds. the place was dead (they close at 9:30) and the service wasn't anything spectacular. I feel like I could have gone to any sushi restaurant and gotten the same thing or better. I could have gone to the grocery store and gotten the same thing. No wow factor to justify a fifth star but it was fresh and the place was clean. Spend the extra money and I'm sure you'll have a better experience. But I feel like if you're not going to do anything special, don't put it on the menu. It is an omakase restaurant after all. With such poor service (I sat at the bar and the sushi chefs didn't even acknowledge me or welcome me), I don't see a reason to come back and try again.
google avatar

martin d.

Yelp
I haven't cared for omakase in a while, but now with direction of Chef Nick, I had to try it again. Not disappointed! Nigiri was wonderful, and I got to say the chawanmushi is the best I ever had. I have not cared for that dish before tonight. Many thanks to the wonderful kitchen and servers. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and pleasant.

Yelp
I'd say that if you're coming to a place with "omakase" in its name, you should probably get sushi. While they do have a few hot/cold plates and some non-sushi dishes, this restaurant is primarily known for drinks and sushi. We enjoy the spicy tuna rolls the most here, though honestly, it's not our favorite sushi place. Surprisingly, we've found the karaage is the best tasting and best value. It's quite pricey here, with the cheapest rolls coming at $6 and most items costing about $16-18 and the omakase $100. However, consistent with the pricing, the quality of the food is quite high, so I'd say if you're wanting some fine sushi dining, Edoko is a good option. For some reason (perhaps due to location), it's almost never been crowded when we've gone here, usually at night. While we've never gone during the day, they do have a nice bento selection for lunches, which seems enticing and affordable.

Yelp
This place really surprised me. I went here alone and sat at the bar on a "treat yourself" type of night. My waitress was very helpful with navigating the menu. With her help I was able to select a few amazing dishes. My bill was around $100 for a glass of wine, 2 rolls, and 2 tastings. Thankfully everything I tried was flavorful (citrusy, savory, etc.). It was a nice, quiet place for dinner with good capacity.

Yelp
I came here for lunch before a tattoo appointment last month. I went right when they opened. My waitress was very friendly and the service was great. The sushi chef was only really talkative with regulars; she did start to chat with me after the amount of food I ordered. They only do QR menus and well that's annoying to me. I'm not wanting to read tiny! The fish selection here is decent, quality is definitely above average.... But not premium if that makes sense. The best thing I had here was the cooked braised beef appetizer (it may have been pork), the least favorite thing I had was the tuna tartare with caviar; it was not cold and the flavors weren't there. It was kinda disappointing especially for the price. Sweet shrimp nigiri was great the fried heads not so much. Scallop Handroll was decent the nigiri I had was really nice. The other cold app I had was good too. The place is nice inside; portion size is normal for sushi. Price is a tad high for the quality in my opinion; but I'm pretty picky with fish quality. If I were in Irving again I'd go back if craving sushi; but I wouldn't drive from where I'm at to come here just for sushi. Overall rating of stars was for the whole experience not just the food.

Yelp
Both sushi chefs were awesome! Waitress was great, she wasn't overwhelming. Got the edoko platter. Excellent!!

Yelp
We've been here so many times and I was so engrossed with our meal I only took a couple photos These are a few of menu options we tried for the first time.

Yelp
I come here often for lunch- their Sashimi bento boxes are such a great deal. I love how fresh the fish is, and they do not skimp out on the size of the sashimi. You can choose your side of a maki roll, which they actually give you six pieces of your choice of Spicy Tuna, Cali, or Salmon Avocado roll, and you get to choose between soup or salad too. The staff is always friendly and kind. I love being greeted by the hostess, I believe she recognizes us now and always has excellent small talk. The ambiance is definitely a cool vibe for those of you dining in. Great for a date night, girls' night dinner, or even a business meeting.
google avatar

Vania B.

Yelp
Overall, I think this restaurant is just ok and wouldn't come back because there are better Japanese restaurant options. Maybe the omakase is worth it, but the sushi rolls and hamachi kama tasted average. (I also don't like that they're closed on Sundays!) The hamachi kama was so bland, and you really needed to add the lemon and tiny amount of sauce underneath to get any flavor. The unagi, soft shell, and hamachi rolls were all good but I can go elsewhere to get similar quality for cheaper. Service was good and the restaurant has a nice, fancy ambiance.

Yelp
All the afternoon flights cancelled today and all tomorrow until noon. I was stuck here in the area. I searched sushi place nearby and called to see if they are open despite of this weather. I ordered on the phone for pick up. I thought the road conditions would get worse later and wanted to pick up as early as possible. They were very nice on the phone and my order was ready very fast. I took them back to my hotel room and really enjoyed authentic sushi. It seems a lot but I are so quickly as they were all very good. Ikura was my favorite. They have so much to offer, I would love to come back here to dine in next time I am in town.
google avatar

Yelp
We enjoyed 3 different Japanese tacos and Omakase . From the off menu tacos to the 6 courses omakase- everything was delicious! You are given soy sauce & wasabi but you won't need it. They are all about customer satisfaction and on point service to boot. I look forward to going back.

Yelp
This place is really cute and clean inside. The serves are super attentive and fast. Cutting to the chase... the food was divine. The hamachi and rainbow roll was the best out of everything we got. But overall we LOVED everything we got. There wasn't anything that we were just ok with. The menu is a little small but worth it. Prices were pretty decent. We ended up spending 160 for two people. We weren't entirely full but I also put into consideration that when you eat sushi rolls you are eating a lot of rice. I'm not a big fan of tuna but they really do tuna right here and I love it!! I would come here again and would recommend to all my friends.

Yelp
I enjoyed a meal out at Edoko with coworkers earlier this week and was not disappointed. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a quiet, calm vibe. It seems that Edoko attracts a decent amount of office workers on weeknights. We enjoyed a variety of sushi and everything was great. Of the ten or so rolls we sampled, the only one I wouldn't order again was called 'Volcano.' Edoko also has a nice selection of wine - we enjoyed the Flowers Chardonnay and were not disappointed. I would definitely say Edoko is worth the visit if you're in the area and want good sushi.

Yelp
The food is amazing ! Chef Sara has created an amazing blend of traditional Japanese sushi combined with an Omakase (House inspired) tasting menu that is inspired by US/Texas cuisine. For something truly unique try the Chef Six Course Tasting menu! The WAFU style of combining traditional Japanese with other international flavors changes weekly and monthly based on the season and ingredients availability. So you'll get something different every time! My best to Chef Sara!

Yelp
Irving was in a desperate need of quality sushi, and Edoko delivers. Located right next to the LA and not far off the 114; it's a great spot for quality fish. I had the Lunch Bento, which came with a Miso Soup, Shrimp Tempura, Chef Choice Nigiri (Believe it was Hamachi, Shrimp, Tuna, Eel (and can't remember the last one). Miso - Good flavor, pretty standard. Shrimp Tempura - Great crispyness and the shrimp was cooked well. No oily taste ! Nigiri: All the fish was fresh, rice was perfect and the pieces of the fish were a good size. The fatty salmon was the highlight for me...so buttery!! Spicy Tuna: You can tell this place uses quality fish and doesn't skimp because the tuna was small chunks..not "tartar" and sauced masking the flavor like other joints..Much appreciated a well executed yet simple spicy tuna roll. Service was great and attentive at lunch. Highly recommended because the Lunch Bento is a great value. 5*

Yelp
A quick review, sans photos. Will spare you the , dare I say, 'posterior vertical crease' of a sushi eater at the bar-- just look away. That burned in, and tea, photographed image aside, it was a most excellent meal-- from waitstaff through food. A party of four in celebration, seeking sushi and sashimi. We followed the subtle but strong recommendation of the waiter toward a chef's choice of sashimi, sushi and rolls, rather than several duplicative orders of sashimi. And similarly, her recommendation for a black label sake. The presentation was beautiful and the entirety was fresh, and each piece flavorful. Ban the defrosted, second day fish, striped over white rice; no place for that in our order. Excellent sushi and sashimi. Skip the shishito peppers- I had, simply put, far better manifestations, including at home.

Mit P.

Yelp
Terrible restaurant. Fish tasted old and decaying. Service was extremely slow. Felt like a second rate sushi place on the suburbs of a land locked city with an aspiration to be more than the chefs and management are capable of. They should simplify their menu and try to be more basic. The fact that the screw up something as simple as crispy rice with spicy tuna, or toro nigiri, or mixed tempura tells you how little this place is capable of.
google avatar

Plucky D.

Yelp
Holy crap this place is expensive as hell. Coming from my previous location where freshness was an understatement and 90% of the sushi chiefs came from Japan. This place has no business having prices they have... it's not, nor even close to what your paying for. Shit, the Sushi chief didn't even yell at me when I came in! What the freak. At these prices I better get the full treatment. I better get yelled at by the chief and the sushi better be amazing. Very clean establishment but that's about it. The food is moderate but not close to what your paying for. This is one of those placethat make you scratch your head in how they are staying open.

Yelp
Location: Ample parking Early dinner, tried the Omakase a 6-dish mean for $100 - Definitely a great deal for its variation and quality. Will definitely do that again - keeps you alert and guessing the whole meal, never a dull moment ! Within a week, tried the lunch menu, had a quick Bento box chicken karaage. Surprisingly the bento wasn't as impressive when compared to other restaurants. BUT I'll definitely go for Omakase ! The restaurant is great for work lunch/dinner. Nice and warm ambient, quiet enough to carry conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food. The quality of the fish was good, and we loved the combination of flavors for some of the dishes. The drinks were okay...we were really excited to try them as they all sounded unique and very Japanese influenced. However, the drinks were a little disappointing. Another reason we aren't giving 5 stars is because we all felt everything was over-priced. One of our entrees was 6 wings (very similar to Korean fried chicken) for $16. The service was awesome, and we loved our servers! They were so friendly and patient for our large party. We felt extremely bad because we stayed an hour after closing but they did not rush us at all.

Yelp
TOP NOTCH IN IRVING!!! My dear sister friend n her family visiting from UT n we wanted to step out for some Japanese last night. Right Accross the highway was this place, the yelp reviews were good and the pictures Inviting! My friend's husband doesn't eat red meat so we decided on Sushi! As soon as we stopped in the parking lot we Almost didn't go in as we were worried about possible dress code violations; them and my daughter casually dressed, and me in my jogging pants n tank top lol (PORSCHE in a front spot, Audi in the lot. Haha) I'm SO GLAD we went in tho!!! This place is SO GREAT!! The tables are set to be semi private but still allow for socializing, with an open concept in the main dining area. The sushi bar sets to the back overlooking the main room with a bar off to the left of the front door. What I personally found nice was the fact that they didn't have an over population of waitstaff rushing around everywhere, which has always annoyed me. Our server was FANTASTIC, very attentive and not overbearing or neglectful - giving us just the right amount of attention so that we could visit and enjoy our meal, but at the same time always available if we needed to order more!! And, She was the TALLEST Asian I have seen in a Long time Edoko is mostly sushi but they DO have an assortment of entres. Try the Teriyaki Chicken - it is an INTACT half chicken and their teriyaki sauce is as good as MINE!!! Lol The kids had chicken fried rice which according to my daughter was better than a lot of the places she's had fried rice from (that's saying a LOT lol) It was a lovely dark shoyu color, and deeply fragrant and even had edamame in it! We enjoyed a beautiful assortment of maki rolls, nigiri, and sashimi chosen for us by their awesome chefs in the Edoko Platter. It was GINORMOUS - the three of us could NOT finish it!!! We also had the Hamachi Kama, which is one of my All Time Faves!!! Grilled to Perfection. It was a real treat for them as they had never had it!! Explaining what it was was dinner for me too; it's Collar/cheek met from the yellowtail tuna!! Lol This is DEF one for the collection and I WILL be back to bring my husband!!! Thanks so much guys! Keep up the great work!!

Yelp
Great spot for lunch! We decided to stop by for lunch during the week. We didn't have a reservation, but luckily they weren't busy so we were seated immediately. We started with edamame. Great for sharing while we waited for our food. I ordered the Sashimi Bento while my friends ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Bento and the Chicken Fried Rice. Both Bentos were made to order. The sashimi was fresh and didn't smell fishy! The chicken teriyaki was flavorful and tender. The fried rice was filled with a lot of chicken and not oily at all. The cost is what you expect of a quality sushi restaurant so it's definitely not an everyday meal. Unless you have deep pockets. If that's the case, send an invite my way. Lol! The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. They will give you the perfect recommendation if you ask. Overall, delicious food and great service! I can't wait to come back for another meal.

Yelp
My best friend and I decided to visit Edoko after reading a review about their amazing Omakese service. They definitely lived up to the hype! Everything was delicious at the service was top notch. 7 courses later and I can't tell you what was my favorite part. Our waitress, Sophiya, was attentive and knowledgeable, describing each course. From the asparagus and row cold soup to the smoked uni (not pictured as only a video would do it justice as she lifted the wine glass full of smoke) to the plethora of nigiri pieces, this was one of the best Japanese experiences I've had outside of Japan. Loved it and will be back to do it again! Update: adding additional photos from our second trip back (which was just as amazing as the first).

Yelp
Delicious! I came here for a quick lunch and was not disappointed. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere was calm and clean, elegant and inviting. I ordered the bulgogi bento box lunch with miso soup, shrimp tempura, and a tuna roll - all for $17! The tempura was light and crisp. The bulgogi was savory and sweet, perfectly marinated. All aspects of the tuna roll where perfect. I will be returning!

Yelp
Edoko is a sushi restaurant in Irving's Las Colinas neighborhood. This new sushi restaurant happens to serve some of the best sushi in all DFW. It's not just an excellent addition to Irving, it's an excellent addition to the DFW Metroplex serving some inspiring and creative dishes. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - Lunch in late May (COVID-19 still in affect). The restaurant is very nice with rich woods throughout. There is a dedicated bar on the left and sushi bar for individual diners in back. The rest is filled with tables and there is also an outdoor patio, but we did not go outside. Overall, very nice and upscale. 1 Star Service - Service was amazing. Granted, they had just reopened and we were the first guests for lunch, so we did get special attention from both the manager the sushi chefs. Our server wore a mask (safety first) and our waters were always filled. 1 Star Food - The food exceeded my expectations. Let's get the basics out of the ways - the sashimi is very fresh, the miso soup delicious, and the ginger was off-white. No cheap, pink ginger here! But what was amazing were the extremely creative rolls. My favorite was the New Style Softshell Crab roll. The crab was perfectly fried, and the roll had a hint to curry salt. Yes. Curry salt - it changes the flavor profile completely. It was now an experience of soft, crunchy, salty, Eastern hemisphere goodness all in one bite. My second favorite was the New Style Volcano roll. This roll had a small amount of creamy crab over a California roll, but on top were light, crispy, fried strings. Sorry fellow Yelpers, I don't know the exact ingredient, but it was such a genius addition to a popular dish that it completly transformed it. 2 Stars Will I Return? - Yes. Move over Uchi, my favorite sushi restaurant in DFW is in Irving. The creativity of these rolls are on par with any popular, press loving sushi restaurant in Dallas. Thank you Edoko for opening in Las Colinas. See you soon! 1 Star My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

Yelp
Another excellent experience at Edoko! We walked in on a Thursday night and got seated right away at the sushi bar. This time, we were seated in front of Chef Lee, and I had a wonderful time chatting with him a little bit about sushi. What we got: - yuzu pop: a super refreshing drink with a hint of citrus and bubbly soda + shochu - seaweed salad (shiro, ao, chuka wakame): 3 types of seaweed in this dish! Loved this as a starter! - shishito pepper (char grilled shishito infused with white truffle oil) - hamachi serrano (yellowtail sashimi, Serrano, wasabi yuzu oil dressing, baby spinach): Whenever I see this on the menu of a sushi place, I have to get it! Hamachi with peppers of any kind just works so well! Loved the small serrano pieces and crunchy seasoning on top of the hamachi pieces! - beef tataki (charcoal seared new york strip with red wine ponzu sauce) - maguro tasting (akami, chutoro, and otoro): My friend got sashimi, I requested nigiri. Loooooved the otoro - sooo juicy, soft, lovely taste. I would have liked a little less rice on my nigiri, but that's just personal preference. - king trumpet mushroom skewers (2pc): I love mushrooms, and this one's no exception! The mushrooms were pretty large and would have been easier to eat with a knife to cut it up into pieces, but regardless, enjoyed. - nigiri: I got the hotate, ikura, and shima aji nigiri. The hotate was seared just right, with that perfectly soft texture throughout. Ikura was cured to a good taste, too, not too salty. The chef prepared the shima aji such that it was smoked inside a wine glass before me - loved that extra dimension in flavor and presentation! We also got a piece of saba (Japanese mackerel) - I'm usually not a huge fan of mackerel, but this one tasted super clean, without any fishy aftertaste! - foie gras gunkan (2pc): I asked for this to come out last, and as requested, our waitress did just that, so I am super appreciative! Very tasty - Chef was very generous with the portion of foie on top of our rolls, and I savored every buttery sweet bite! My mouth is watering just from thinking about the soft foie gras! Overall, loved our experience at Edoko, and the prices here are super reasonable, too! Will be back with friends!

Yelp
Came back for lunch, because I was in the area and wanted high quality nigiri! I really love this place. The bento was delicious and a good deal, especially throwing in octopus is not your typical bento! And then the nigiri was great again!!

Yelp
I went for the Omakase (chef's choice) 6 course meal for $100, with some added sushi rolls. All of the food was fantastic, delightful, SO UNIQUE with their presentation, and my service at the bar was the kind that really added so much to the experience. Definitely going back to do the same thing at least seasonally so its different every time!

Yelp
Came here with friends. The ambiance is awesome and pretty elegant. Def. a button up or cute summer dress type of restaurant. We order calamari, karaage, and salmon crispy rice for appetizers. Everything so delish. It's Abit pricey but its good. The calamari is abit overcooked in my opinion. I ordered salmon belly tacos. It's literally salmon belly in a corn tortilla. Not sure if the tortilla is handmade, but the salmon is so fresh. it could have added something more unique like pickled cabbage or something. My favorite is the SALMON crispy shrimp maki. I didnt take the photo cause it was so good I didnt even have time to think! I give it a 4 star because I was expecting alot more bold and unique flavors. Anyway...Overall, great restaurant and food!

Yelp
The 6 course dinner was the best decision I've ever made. I went with a food connoisseur and they similarly agreed that the quality, presentation and overall taste is Michelin level. We were treated to some of the best service, atmosphere and attention to detail we both have ever had. This is a five star experience and Chef Sara is a master of her craft. Everything was hand selected and crafted by her expertise and we are so grateful. If you have anyone you need to impress, this hidden gem will earn you praise I assure you. Please take my heartfelt recommendation that I don't think I'll ever have a better meal in my life. She also has a coffee and pastry shop that is worth every penny. Great job and please continue the art of fine food! Thank you.

Yelp
This is a nice place to try once. Especially if you're looking for a nice sushi place in the suburbs (irving). The restaurant has neat colors. Service was fast. My favorite were the yellowtail sashimi and the quail egg shot. The sashimi just melts! There are a lot of reviews about the spicy tuna on rice cake appetizer but I didn't like it at all. We also had the volcano rolls which were good just to try one time. The crab is really fresh. The restaurant is really pricey and i think that's unnecessary for the items on their menu.

Yelp
I came here for a good friend's birthday on a weekend. We made reservations just to be safe but from what I can tell, wait times didn't seem long for the others who didn't reserve. The place was spacious, clean, and chill. Staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered the Chef's Choice Nigiri mix containing 10 pieces. I'm usually a salmon lover, but I actually enjoyed the tuna and hamachi selection more. Nigiri was fresh, with good fish to rice ratio. I also ordered the Salmon Lovers which was so good. Would order again if I come back. My vegetarian friend ordered the Big Trumpet and Pure Vegetarian roll, and said it was really delicious! The staff was really sweet and got my friend a free yuzu cheesecake which was AMAZING. All in all, good sushi, would recommend. Definitely going to try their omakase next time!

Yelp
Was looking for a sushi place and saw this place and made a reservation through open table for 2 requesting to be seated at the sushi bar. When we arrived they accommodated my request and we were seated by the main chef. Best sushi bar experiences are when you sit by the main chef and start conversations with them that way they get to know you and will provide special dishes just for you. Our experience was great and the sushi quality was outstanding. This is your average run of the mill sushi joint. They take pride on their quality and presentation. How to know if they serve excellent Nigiri? When they serve it to you ready to eat without having to add Wasabi and soy sauce because they already marinated the fish b4 making it into a Nigiri and the fact that the rice is on the warm temperature. Pop it into your mouth and the whole things just melts away. This is a place to come if you want to experience what sushi is supposed to taste like.

Yelp
Food was delicious, could tell it was high quality fish! Definitely was not used to this nice of sushi so the flavors were different than I was used to. Favorite dish was the spicy tuna crispy rice.

Yelp
I am appalled at their high rating. I came here with my family and we waited over 35 minutes in an empty restaurant for 4 bento boxes and a rainbow roll. All of the food was utter garbage and overpriced. - the avocado and cucumber in the California rolls were very hard - tempura was so salty - sashimi did not taste fresh, was also kind of warm and slimy - the rainbow roll was 5 pieces for $20. That is atrocious pricing for small pieces of sashimi on a veggie roll. The waitress was very kind and enthusiastic and the place is very clean. They are the only contributors to the one star this restaurant should have.
