Eebee’s Corner Bar - Review - Shaw - Washington DC - The Infatuation

"Another one in Shaw. Eebee’s Corner Bar bills itself as a classic American joint with banana splits, mozzarella sticks, and a reportedly very good burger. Drinks include classics like manhattans, dirty shirleys, and negronis." - Omnia Saed

The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings You Should Know About This November | Eater DC

"A right-at-home neighborhood hangout with a well-executed burger and strong beer list, this first-time project from owner and beer aficionado Emily Brown stands out with unique pours like two 10-ounce mugs of Czech-style Schilling Alexandr and Sojourn Midnight for $8. The drinks list also features icy martinis, Manhattans, and other classics priced $13–$15 based on the liquor, while the buzzed-about burger—a dry-aged Pat LaFrieda blend with a beautiful sear—comes blanketed in melty American and cheddar with a hefty hit of freshly ground pepper. A layered club sandwich, artichoke and crab dip, massive shrimp cocktail, and thick mozzarella sticks round out the menu; doors open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends, with late-night hours until 2 a.m. Sunday–Thursday and 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays." - Emily Venezky

The New D.C. Dive With a Great Burger That People Are Talking About | Eater DC

"Just opened in Shaw last weekend, this on-paper dive already has the neighborhood’s attention for a well-executed burger, a dialed-in beer list, and right-at-home vibes. The eight-ounce cheeseburger uses a dry-aged Pat LaFrieda blend with a beautiful sear, blanketed with melty American and cheddar and a hefty hit of freshly ground pepper; it sits atop a thick-cut onion and comes with cottage fries fried in tallow, all on a proprietary “crusty, yet formidable” sesame bun baked fresh daily and developed with pastry chef Dru Tevis and a dough‑master cousin. Light and dark beers—two 10-ounce mugs of Czech-style Schilling Alexandr and Sojourn Midnight for $8—are, she says, “selling like crazy.” Beyond the burger, there’s a Maryland blue crab dip (sherry, shallots, Old Bay) that arrives with what she calls an “Etsy’s best” crab spreader and a “please don’t steal” tag line, a six-count shrimp cocktail with horseradish and fried saltines, and a nostalgic banana split with bruleed banana, chocolate and caramel sauce, whipped cream, and rainbow jimmies. Bar director Chris Donovan leans into icy classic cocktails—martinis to start, plus a Negroni, Manhattan, and daiquiri done well—capturing the “old man bar” desires that underpin the place. The room feels personal and painstaking: a rebuilt walnut-and-polished‑brass front bar, an oak‑and‑brushed‑copper back bar under neon-lit retro ads, hand-painted gold window lettering, family portraits by the door, and playful bathrooms (MLB greats under a canopy of baseballs in one; theater ephemera and a photo of Barack Obama meeting the cast of Hamilton in the other). Hours run late—daily until 2 a.m. (3 a.m. on weekends), with service from 5 p.m. weekdays and noon on Saturday and Sunday—and a late-night kitchen serves nearby industry folks, with an outdoor patio soon adding 20-plus seats to the 73-person setup with a new drink rail. The goal is clear: to be Shaw’s “Cheers,” a place where the bartender knows the three things you like to drink and where people from Philly, New York, the Midwest—or wherever they’re from—feel comfortable." - Tierney Plumb

Google
AMAZING experience checking out this new spot! Came here for my birthday and was blown away. My wife and I started with the caesar salad and it was delicious! Perfectly dressed, perfect amount of cheese, so great! The martini? DONT GET ME STARTED!! The ambiance of this place is exactly why they’re going for. Divey, intimate space, with great food options, cheap drinks, baseball stickers on the bathroom walls, I’ll definitely be back! If not for any of those things, for the burger. I’ve had many burgers, and this is EASILY top 3 in my life. It was PERFECTION. Juicy, cheesy, perfect balance with the slice of onion, toasted bun, it’s what other burger joints wished they could pull off.

Great atmosphere! Burger is very good - it's simple, but in that simplicity, well crafted. The Caesar salad was surprisingly very good. It's a fine line between over saturation of dressing. It was also nice and cold. The club sandwich was enormous and well done. I love the idea of the banana split. Thoughts - I'm guessing the scoops were plated many hours before - so they're hard as can be - I'd also upgrade to a fudge - the syrup is a tad thin. It's still a very good dish - especially the bananas are treated like creme brulee - amazing touch!

Google
What an amazing space and blessing to the neighborhood! So comfortable and with great vibes. Have been a few times and the service and hospitality are top notch. Want a nice cocktail? Check. Want a beer and shot? Check. Want a craft brew you can't find elsewhere? Check. Food is elevated pub grub and is top tier. One of the best Turkey Clubs around and the BURGER is a stunner. Eebee's kicks ass

Google
I simply cannot say enough great things about this spot. It’s been open for less than a week, I have already been twice and am making plans to go again with friends this weekend. There is so much attention to detail and care that went into the making of this and you can tell: from family pictures on the wall, a marlin the owner caught above the windows, the separate broadway and baseball themed bathrooms that have their own music playing… it’s all just so intentional. Once you get past how beautiful it is - the food is INSANE. My husband and I went opening night and ordered a bunch of food. It came out on time and was absolutely delicious! The burger *WITH IN-HOUSE MADE BUNS - ARE YOU KIDDING ME*, the Caesar, crab dip, turkey club, banana split… were all phenomenal! AND they came out on time! Truly put this on your list of must-go places in DC and then keep it there because you’ll never want to go anywhere else.

My new favorite bar! Everyone on staff was so welcoming, the food was quick and delicious. Loved the transparency and table waiting options. They pour an amazing Guinness and have great priced drinks for DC. Will 100% be back very soon.

Read good things about Eebee's and decided to check it out for ourselves. Fun, cozy atmosphere! Arrived a few minutes after 5:00 (Wednesday) and the front bar was completely filled; we nabbed one of the last tables. (There apparently is another bar and more seating in the back, but I was too lazy to check it out.) No reservations are accepted, but as you arrive you can put your name on a wait list (Wait list for tables was happening at 5:30!!). Limited food menu--we chose the cheeseburger and turkey club (huge!). Both were great. . .one of the best burgers in the area, for sure. The onion rings were PERFECT. Crispy and not greasy at all! The 2 x 10 oz light/beer combo was fun (i preferred the dark, husband preferred the light. . .win-win!!). The owner is extremely kind: You can tell she is working HARD!!! but still greeted everyone with a smile. We saw her visit every table to make sure everyone was happy. Cozy, casual, and pricing was pretty affordable for DC standards. We'll be returning for sure!!

Google
I have been very excited about this opening and it exceeded my expectations: What will surely be known as the best burger in DC, an awesome drinks menu, a quirky and cozy design, and friendly staff. The owner went out of her way to chat with us and explain her vision and process for creating this remarkable place. We will be back very soon. Thank you!

I am extremely excited to review Eebee's Corner Bar -- new spot in Shaw. This particular business space has struggled to hold a restaurant, and I think Eebee's is built to succeed. First off, the owner, who I learned is named Emily, greeted us as we walked in and told us it's open seating. She warned that as they are new they are still working on kinks on orders, etc, but doing their best. She thanked us no less than 5 times. She mentioned their Shirley Temple syrup was homemade so I ordered one (no alcohol) and white wine. The other member of my party got a martini she said was fantastic. The restaurant is lively, inviting, and was bustling when I was there. I recommend checking out the musical theater themed bathroom. Now for constructive feedback: early reviews say Eebee's has an amazing burger, but as a vegetarian their food menu is limited for now with no vegetarian entree. I split an order of onion rings which was a very very small order and not really splitable. Very delicious, however. I also would have preferred less syrup and more soda in the Shirley temple. Though I was forewarned about the service I didn't find it to be lacking, slow, or sub-par at all which is very impressive for day 5 of being open. In fact, I felt like it was very good and attentive service. I could tell from speaking with Emily that she worked extremely hard to get Eebee's off the ground and is tackling opening a business as things come her way. I left this same review for them on Yelp. I wish the owner and Eebee's much success and am excited to come back!

Yelp
Eebee's has two competing worlds - the first bar, called "Walnut" is lively, bright, and always packed to the gills; "Hopper," the second bar, is typically chill, bigger, and on the quieter side (if there is a quiet side). On my fourth time to Eebee's -- because time #2 and #3 was so busy I couldn't get in -- verified their cocktail game legit: Excellent renditions of some classics, such as the 50/50 and daquiri. On the food side, their burger is getting more famous as the days go on (But I'm torn - sure, steak should be medium rare to rare; but ground beef this thick eaten medium rare? No sure...)

Yelp
I hate that this bar is a 46 minute walk from my house. Eebees hits ALL the notes. Great "dive'ish" vibes: check! A cheeseburger that taste exactly as a great cheeseburger should taste: check! Crinkle cut fries, that I would argue are the best I've had in DC (fresh of course): check! A classic manhattan that rivals Joes or the Capital Grill's (IYKYK): check The bartenders and wait staff absolutely crushing it with service and conversation: double check. And, the fact that Emily Brown, the eponymous for which Eebees (E.B.s) is named for, is performing all the serving, hosting and bartending task: mother f'in cherry on top, check! I don't review much... but when I do, I make sure I wasted my time properly. My wife and I will definitely be back. Multiple times.

Yelp
I am soooooo excited to have this new spot in my neighborhood. I came in on day 5!!!! of their opening. The owner, a kind, friendly lady who's name I forget greeted us when we sat at one of the high top tables. She walked us through the drinks menu and gave us some great recommendations. We tried the Negroni, martini, daiquiri, and gin sour. I got my daiquiri half sweetened and thought that was the perfect about of simple. All the drinks were really great. We did not stick around for dinner, but I'm excited to try their burger. By ~7-7:30 pm the place was packed, with no seating available so fyi!! They don't offer a happy hour, but the cocktail prices were extremely reasonable ($13-16 on average I think). I think it would be great if they offer a drink or food happy hour in the future, but either way I plan to be a regular!!

Yelp
Already back a second time in the week! This place is worth the wait! The smaller tasting menu is still going on so it is a little condensed. We will definitely be back to see Em and the crew. We waited almost 30 minutes outside to get in the door, which made the anticipation all worth it. Smelling all the smells as the door opened each time someone wandered out for a cig or left to stagger home. When we got inside we quickly got our name on the table wait list and got called within 15 minutes. While waiting we stood near the front bar and got a few draft beers. Once we made it to the party table at the front door we had snagged some menus and got our order placed pretty instantly. The wait time was not long at all for the food to start flowing out. First thing that hit the table was the fried onion rings with the secret sauce! Too good! I added a pinch of table salt and loved every crunchy bite! Next we had the caesar salad, the shrimp cocktail, the motz sticks all appear around the same time! We ordered the extra motz stick so each of us could enjoy the cheesy goodness! The marinara sauce had a huge garlic/allium presence which was phenomenal. The caesar salad came OVERFLOWING off the plate with a metric ton of cheese piled atop it! Our burgers hit the table, perfect medium and medium rare. Great job, chef! The burger was salted perfectly, the caramelized onions -- chef's kiss! Also, how the fuck, do you make light crispy yet fluffy fries/chips for the burger?!? Turkey club was huge! Alot of food to put down solo! The banana split was the great finish to the night; neoploitan ice cream, all the toppings , and bruleed bananas. Perfection! We will definitely be back! Jake (old ebbitt grill) n kevin

Yelp
Oh my goodness.... Truly, truly the best burger and fries I've had in a very long time. Caesar salad was excellent as well. I am obsessed with this place! They're going to become super popular, and I'm happy to have been an early visitor! Staff is excellent. Vibe is great. Overall a must visit.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal here! The vibe was cozy and classic. It's first come first serve but well worth the wait, also the staff was incredibly friendly and the prices are reasonable!

Yelp
Eebee's has room to improve, but I won't be harsh since I visited during their first 5 days. I hope to return when the food, drinks, and service are in sync. Again, the bathrooms were my favorite part.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Great beer. Wonderful ownership. Games on the TV. Great food. Im not sure what else you need in a bar. Great crown too!!

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed everyone I came in contact with and everything I put in my mouth. As a fellow EB: bravo!

Yelp
I'm quite charmed by this place. Growing up in this neighborhood on-and-off since 2002, I've seen every iteration of bar/restaurant at this location, and this is the first one this decade that feels instantly welcoming to me, with reasonably priced, thoughtfully curated but unfussy drinks, and simple yet elevated bar food. Strikes me as perfect place to unwind after work with neighbors or start your night on the weekend.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to try Eebee's during hour two of its soft opening, and wow--we were absolutely blown away. For a so-called "dive bar," the food is downright incredible. We had the crab dip, the burger, and the sundae, and every single thing was delicious. The drinks were fantastic, too. The whole place feels cozy and welcoming, with that perfect neighborhood-bar vibe. We genuinely can't wait to go back. Our only concern? It's dangerously close to home... we might end up there way more often than we should!

Andrew H.

Yelp
It's been several weeks since I visited this new establishment with friends. Quite honestly, I cannot stop thinking about it. The drinks were all sublime in being expertly crafted and ingeniously composed. In fact, the owner or manager (I assume) stopped by my table and let me know that my espresso martini didn't "look right" to her. She swiftly delivered a fresh one. Don't get it wrong, both the original and the replacement were absolutely delicious. However, it is this attention to detail that is so inspiring and honestly emotional to see. As far as the food, the burger I ordered was the best I've had. For that matter, everyone at the table could not stop raving about the food. This culinary and beverage experience combined with top-notch service renders a serious declaration. This new spot is worth canceling other plans and going out of the way to experience. It would be, in my mind, disrespectful not to visit this little slice of happiness near U St. and experience the excitement.
