The Best Noe Valley Restaurants - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Self-service yogurt shops aren’t as much a revelation as they are a sign that you’re in a neighborhood near some good schools. But since you’re in Noe Valley and likely want something sweet after dinner, it’s hard to pass by Easy Breezy without loading up on whatever daily-changing yogurt is on hand with every topping you can imagine." - lani conway, ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1

Google
A very specific shout-out to this store for carrying millet flour. Thank you. I come here solely for Bobs Red Mill MILLET FLOUR - I've tried bodegas, Whole Foods, Safeway, Mollie Stones... no millet or millet flour. Only Eezy Freezy. So if you're looking for millet, this is the place.

Excellent beer, wine, and ice cream selection. Tons of local products. Big selection of Irish and UK products food and candy. Great staff that will always go the extra mile if you ask.

Donald Robertson

Google
I will not be shopping at this venue as long as they oppose the reasonable traffic changes to speed Muni and increase safety at West Portal. Not everyone gets to West Portal in private automobiles, and however much the proposed change might or might not cost them in drivers, they have lost this Muni rider.

Michelle Parekh

Google
They have q good variety but they dont show prices of most of their products which makes no sense. How can a consumer feel comfortable shopping there without displaying prices. For that reason I wont be shopping there again.

Zachary Falk

Google
Very impressive craft beer selection for a large local convenience store: wide variety of California/West Coast brews & imports, including several notable Belgians. Many varieties found in singles as well as six-packs. Very friendly staff.

Jake

Google
A liquor store that closes at 8pm? Y’all are a disgrace. I am admittedly a little upset. This happened a few months ago, but this has been my neighborhood grocery store for a number of years. I stopped by with my girlfriend and younger sister one day with the intention of grabbing a few beers . When I came to check out, they asked for all of our IDs. When the cashier saw that I was the only person of age, they turned me away, saying we all needed valid IDs. I’m not going to go into what is fundamentally wrong with this, because any reasonable person should be able to see for themselves. It only takes one really bad experience to ruin a history.

Google
Honestly, I never find anything I want in here unless it's a bag of chips or a candy bar. Their beer selection is quite good but extremely expensive, and I would never get wine here if I could just go to SFWTC up the road. I suppose it's good in a pinch, but the only time I am desperate enough to shop here is if I have the munchies. Is it me or does the person behind the counter seem to always be different?

Sarah Miller

Google
This place is a secret craft brew gem! I'm always checking out this place when I'm trying to find new beers. All the craft brew stores are mostly downtown, which is a headache. Every time I go in there I find something new. The main guy behind the counter always tells me which beers he just got and even gives me reccomendations when I can't decide (which is a lot). Last time I was there, I found a super rare (and yummy) beer that's brewed in the sunset district! If you're looking for a six pack that will impress all your friends, look no further- and forget the long trek downtown!

Yelp
This is always my go to store whenever I need something British. Which is the main appeal for me. They have assorted number of UK candies, meats, and alcohol. The store is not huge, and just holds the essentials. It is right next to West Portal, which makes it convenient for everyone. The staff is always friendly. I will continue to come here, as long as they have black and white pudding.

Yelp
i came in with two bags of groceries as I was shopping at the market across the street. I was in the second isle, looking at the british goods and noticed a store worker cleaning the bottom side railing of the shelf opposite me. it was so obvious she was keeping an eye on me thinking I was going to steal or place items in my already very full bags. I dont steal. wasnt raised thet way. this experience made me uncomfortable and after 2 not so great experiences wint be ckming back! to the you g girl with long blonde hair - dont make customers feel uncomfortable... Maybe if I was caucasian she wouldnt have kept an eye on me... NOT hoing back! done with this place

Michelle P.

Yelp
The place is clean. Alot of snacks and alcohol but they dont label any proficts with prices. And btw, their goods are super expensive which you find out ipon checkout bc they dont label anything with the price!! Huh?? Id rather walk down the street and get stuff from other markets that are less expensive and Price their products and dont give off a vibe of being 'money thirsty' !

Frances A.

Yelp
This corner store has a good selection of British savory snacks and candy (especially Cadbury) along with regular convenience store items. It's also conveniently next to West Portal station. Took off a star because some of their goods don't have a price label (usually the bottled drinks) and have come across near expired or just expired items--but since it is a small store I can see that they might not be able to push out product as fast or be able to get expired products off shelves right away compared to big chain stores. Definitely still a great corner store as long as you read the labels before buying and don't mind occasionally politely asking how much something is.

Yelp
IMHO I needed to find a can of pineapple chunks for an appetizer I wanted to serve, and didn't want to go to a big box store. I knew there was a small grocery store in West Portal and was happy to support a small local business. I walked in and was greeted immediately. I looked at the nice lady and queried "canned pineapple"? She told me which aisle, and then followed me there to show it's exact location! They didn't have pineapple chunks so I opted for the pineapple rings! I walked out with my desired canned pineapple and a quart of Haagen-Daz ice cream! Prices are higher but that is to be expected from a smaller establishment, but I was willing to pay for the convenience. Thanks Eezy Freezy!

Yelp
THIS IS A RACIST ESTABLISHMENT . I drove my grandparents across town to go to this store Via my grandmas referral. Terrible and gut wrenching service We were left waiting at register for 12 minutes then asked to "walk to the nearest atm " that was half mile away to "get cash" because their POS was down. When I asked if we would get a small discount for the inconvenience of having to find a bank in order to complete the purchase , I was condescendingly asked "do I even have a high school diploma". I was shell-shocked, offended and the owner proceeded to call 911 on me (all of this transpired in front of my 82 year old grandmother) He racistly antagonized me and called 911 on me for asking for a discount!!!!!

Yelp
Able to run in and grab some milk. Convenient location across from Noe Valley Bakery & West Portal tunnel. Well stocked little neighborhood store....I thought was a liqueur store, but they have regular items. Orderly store....help offered. Also provided sanitizer after paying and some gentlel conversation. Dog lovers unite.

Yelp
I dropped by on a Friday around 6:30pm solely for the purpose of getting pints of Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream. My friend said it was one of the best ice creams, so I had to try it. I saw that Eezy Freezy had a big selection of it, so I decided to stop by. I stepped in and was warmly welcomed. They had a freezer that was solely dedicated to Jeni's in the front, and they had another section toward the right side. The selection was pretty big, and they had more flavors than what's offered on Jeni's website. I didn't notice that they had baskets when I grabbed the pints. I wanted to look around more, and the male cashier let me put the pints in front. While I was looking around, one of the staff asked me if I needed help looking for anything which was nice. I usually don't get asked at a bigger store. When I was purchasing my ice cream, the female cashier at the front let me know when they would be getting another shipment, and they even dispensed some hand sanitizer to me when I finished paying. The service was great, and the pints of ice cream are delicious. I'll definitely be back to restock my freezer when I finish.

Yelp
Eezy Freezy was a nice spot to pick up some snacks for the movie except that you can't bring outside food into the movie theatre. So I had it before and in the middle of the movie, which was around 3 hours long. I got two drinks and a bag of chips and gourmet slim jim.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. Irish products galore. Plenty of wine, beer, liquor. CBD products and snacks. Limited produce but enough to make a meal. Cleaning supplies and dairy including cheese department (shelf). Local establishment with many loyal wonderful customers.

Yelp
I went in there a couple of months ago and was happy that they had cherryheads. But I will never again give them my business. Twice 2 different Karen's that work there gave me shit about being in their space for too long while I was waiting for my daughter who is disabled to come out of the sewing center. "I'm gonna call." Then comes out with her camera to which I smiled and waved. Then got all huffy when I took a picture of their generic ass sign. If someone wanted to shop and couldn't park I see the problem. But that wasn't the case. Maybe they were bored.
google avatar

Chantal G.

Yelp
I came here with some friends, hoping to get some snacks for a movie. When we had walked in, we were rudely followed by a blonde lady. After finding our stuff, the blonde lady started being extremely rude to one of the cashiers. I was appalled at her behavior, acting like the world was ending. That was my first and last time at that store. Never again. If I could give a zero rating, I would.

Yelp
Hello - if you love Jeni's Ice Cream, this little local shop in West Portal is a must visit. The lovely owner, Maureen, posts on their insta when things are restocked and personally requests the flavors herself. It's honestly a great selection (she had the seasonal pumpkin flavor THE DAY it came out because she had requested in advance). Also, she had tried literally every flavor or knows which customers are Jeni's fans and will chat about flavors and recommendations if you need help deciding. Cousin took me by to buy some pity ice cream after an exam, and we ended up walking out with four pints, and Maureen even dug up a styrofoam cooler box from the back to help me carry my goods back to the East Bay. We also chatted about some of the other local chocolate she had, and I'll be sure to poke my head around more of the ice cream doesn't distract me too much, first.

Yelp
British & Irish junk food well represented here. Good for my taste buds, not so good for my waist circumference. Lots of other interesting UK & Irish imports (mushy peas, beans, jams, frozen pasties, sausage rolls & other savories) as well as locally produced things. Parking is difficult, so I park & walk from several blocks away, fooling myself that I am burning some calories to make up for all the delicious biscuits I'll soon be eating.

Yelp
Starting off on a positive note, the people ringing me up always seem like good/nice people. However the goods that they stock at this place are overpriced and not the greatest quality -unless you are just looking for beer and liquor. In a pinch, I've bought perishable items from Eezy Freezy. I would say maybe 15% of the time my items have had an expiration date that is within a couple of days or is actually past. I have had a couple of items that were just outright bad and I just didn't notice till I got home. They have a huge ice cream selection, however there was a long period when the ice creams had clearly melted and just refroze again. The texture was just awful. On top of all this, their prices are just over the top. Today was the last straw when I went in to get eggs and the cheapest were $6.99 a dozen. I walked over to the market two blocks down and got the same thing for $2.99.

June B.

Yelp
Seriously...Does the owner of this establishment sit in behind the counter just inside the door watching the kids on the register?? I went in there today to return 2 packets that were purchased earlier and noticed when I got home that the packets were open. Guy on register was polite and said ok to replace them. Double checked 3 packets on the shelf, one was burst open so I brought to the counter to show that most of the items appeared to be in faulty packaging. The Old Man (which I did not even see sitting there in the corner) went off at me for bringing the damaged packet to the register! I suggested he may want to check all instead of letting people purchase goods in faulty packets. That old man was extremely rude, and to be honest ...a little scary to see him hidden away there in the corner behind the counter..... watching!!

Joe S.

Yelp
Selection is definitely better than an average corner store. Prices are extortionate and almost never displayed. You pick something up, place it on the counter and find out how much you're getting gouged (2-5 dollars more than anywhere else would be a safe estimation to start with). I've definitely bought 6 packs here for what I'd pay for a 12 pack of the same beer elsewhere.
google avatar

Cole D.

Yelp
They don't have a lot of soda selections which is what I was looking for. Place looks kind of dirty. Lots of liquor so come here for that. It's a nice convenient pit stop before you go on the train

Erica F.

Yelp
Bottle of Yerba Mate $3.50- um expensive ok take out the card, $5 minimum or $.50 fee. ... ok I can get a fresh iced tea at Peet's for that. Thanks no thanks.
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you for stocking up on lots of Australian and English treats that I didn't even realize I missed eating. I was so excited to visit, buy Aero bars, Cadbury creme eggs, Violet Crumbles and more. Will be back!!

Yelp
A really cool little market in West Portal. They carry so many unique items in here. But I definitely always have to stop here for the local honey that they sell. I highly recommend the creamed lemon honey, it is the most delicious honey ever! I also always buy the lavender and wildflower honey. Oh and the raspberry honey is also amazing! And of course the honeycomb is heaven. Just, stop here for the honey. Honey, honey, honey. Ok I'm done.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
Always delicious flavors and very much appreciate their dairy free options! Great variety of topping options as well. Friendly staff!
google avatar

Yelp
Had a small size strawberry and vanilla bean and birthday cake . It was pretty good. Nice toppings. I had the granola and strawberries , black berries . The ingredients were pretty good . The best was the pieces of waffle cone

Yelp
Very cool little market in West Portal. I've been going here at least 2x a week so I'm going to summarize my experiences in pros/cons: Pros: * unique array of local and European food items like chocolates, sauces like HP, and snacks. You will not find these in your typical store. * a nice big selection of drinks from alcohol to root beer. The only other place I saw carry a diverse selection of root beer is BevMo. They also carry on occasion a locally made flavored mead, it's usually up front if they have it. The beers they carry many local brews. * Stonehenge scones. I had to mention b/c they are damn delicious. Note: they come in every other Thursday. * staff is always friendly to me. I saw it mentioned in the reviews staff were rude but I haven't run into that issue. Cons: * prices are a little steep but you're paying for things you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. * check expiration dates. I've seen a couple items where they just expired. I don't think it's that big of deal, but it's something to check. Overall, I like this store b/c of its diverse selection. I also appreciate how they sell locally produced items. The items that come to mind are the: beer, chocolates, honey, and mead.
google avatar

Monica Colleen D.

Yelp
They have a wide variety of Cadbury chocolates. I wish they sold Violet Crumble, but instead had Cadbury's Crunchie which is also good.

j g.

Yelp
Convenient if you're on the block and need to pick up something on the way home, but overpriced. Just grabbed some food to go down the street and picked up a six pack of Fort Point IPAs for $17.51... easily $5 more than other liquor stores in the city.

Cassidy B.

Yelp
owners are so so rude would rather drive to luckys and not pay double for everything and be treated like trash

Chris P.

Yelp
What a disgusting owner. Racy owner rejected my card because the laminated wasn't up to her standard. I offered other forms of ID to assure and she went on to have a conversation about my ID with an employees. I offered other forms of ID again and she then said I was having an attitude and said no. After waiting there for a minute trying to give her my card she finally spoke into words that she wanted me to leave and rejected my business. All I wanted to purchase was bottle of wine.

Vanessa H.

Yelp
I'm 30 years old and this place wouldn't sell my alcohol with a valid ID. They tossed my ID around to 3 people and at that point I didn't want to spend my money there for a bottle of wine. Not having makeup on and therefore "the photo being different" is not a valid reason to a legal customer away.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Billed as an organic food & gourmet store it carries very few organic items, has a very limited selection of fresh produce. Actually it would be difficult to call the produce fresh: large yellow onions sprouting greenery, beets with wilted, browning leaves. And in classic San Francisco tradition most items are grossly overpriced. This is a glorified liquor store: wine, beer & liquor dominate the floor space. It certainly can't be considered a neighborhood organic food store.

Mica R.

Yelp
Would give zero stars if I could. Such a bad place to shop at and so expensive! 0/10 recommend
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
So I walk in here and say hi to the 2 people working the front register (a young guy and young blonde girl) ... They just continue their conversation and say nothing to me. I go to the back of the store, get a water, and go to the register. The girl say $1. I give her the money. I say thank you and walk out. No hello and no thank you from the staff? Terrific customer service there, you guys! 3 stars for a cute convenient store.
google avatar

Yazan Z.

Yelp
Great selection, literally carry everything and open 365 days of the year! Best beer selection and ice cream in town. Super friendly staff.
google avatar

Yazan Z.

Yelp
Best beer selection on this side of town! Has a lot of local and craft hard to find beers. Also amazing selection of ice cream.
google avatar

Robert F.

Yelp
Good cold drinks can be found here. Initially I thought this place was sketch but it is just your run of the mill local convenient store. The have some produce and drinks which makes for a quick pickup if you are need of a few items for dinner or lunch. The staff is friendly and always nice upon entrance and exit. The selection of beers is rather larger which can make for prolonged drinking decisions when here. Also, the wine selection is OK. Trader Joe's offer more inexpensive choices but this place is alright. However, I do prefer the cheaper choices in wine. If you are looking for some chips or snacks this is a good place to come as well. A rather wide selection of snacks to look through but they are great for GAMEDAY SUNDAY snacks!

Nicolas H.

Yelp
Half of the candies and chocolates are expired the cashier takes 25 min to give me my money back because they have to call there boss for a refund I mean it's ridiculous never coming back there

Lea G.

Yelp
Twice now I've called them to order a bottle of bubbly and they happily delivered it in the neighbourhood (within 1/2 mile), in a gift bag with tissue. So helpful and great to work with!

Average T.

Yelp
The variety in their stock is stunning. Quite an international selection too - English biscuits and chocolate and teas, Italian coffee, Middle-Eastern fare, and so on. Their refrigerated section has almond milk, Shakti sauces, etc., that aren't easy to find even at a Safeway. Much more than liquor and sodas. Friendly people at the counter too.
google avatar

Virginia J.

Yelp
I've been back (not to get ice cream of course, fool me twice...) and I was browsing through the many rootbeers I like to pick up from there when I noticed on my way back that they carry Strongbow! And not just the regular but the Honey kind too! Yay! :D I dunno why I can't find it anywhere in this city, but at least now I know where to get it. Been back a few more times and haven't had any other bad experiences so I'm updating my review to five minus one for the disgusting Haagen Dazs that one time
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
We stopped in here during a recent stroll through West Portal because of a sign outside advertising local honey. The young man behind the counter greeted us and offered to provide honey samples. He told us about the various options and knew his product well. We were happy to buy some honey and look forward to coming back. It's very rare to have such an enjoyable experience with great customer service.
google avatar

Corrie B.

Yelp
I like this place because it's convenient and has a good selection. I'm new to this particular area but I've lived in San Francisco for 3 years now and have stopped in here multiple times. I am originally from out of town and still carry my out of state ID. The first time I came into the store I was asked if my ID was fake and if I was ACTUALLY from my home state. I understand that having an uncommon out of state ID (Arkansas) might be a reason for question and I also understand that the employees are just doing their jobs. I've grown frustrated with this store because I am constantly being questioned about my ID as if I am carrying a fake. It's incredibly frustrating as a customer trying to establish some type of loyalty to be constantly questioned about whether or not my ID is fake. Not a welcoming place for new comers
google avatar

Fancypants X.

Yelp
I've stopped in randomly for water & drinks before. No big deal. Seemed like a typical convenience store. Until... I began my search for U.K. treats, both sweet & savory. A quick yelp search revealed Eezy Freezy carried said treats. I walked in & was overwhelmed by the bounty of chips & chocolates I'd been fiending for! Totally not your typical convenience store. Tayto chips (or crisps) from Ireland in all kinds of flavors...prawn cocktail, wuster sauce, bacon?!!! British chocolates. Mini Cadbury eggs. Aero. Flakes. Bounty. And my favorite--Crunchie. I didn't check out the biscuits because I'd like to still fit into my jeans, but that's what I'm coming in for next! I picked up a bagful of goodies for my chocoholic mother & a few white chocolate maltesers for me & $40 later, was a very satisfied customer. Shop feels homey, comfortable, & gentleman working the register was charming & friendly as could be. Can't believe I didn't know about their chocolate section sooner! Can't wait to stock up on goodies again!!!
google avatar

Marsha Z.

Yelp
Eezy Freezy's a convenient grocery store for West Portalans. It's better stocked than St. Francis Market across the way. And aside from the usual corner store staples, they also carry specialty goods from Europe. Four stars for their name, alone. Five, if they were named, Eezy Breezy.

saru k.

Yelp
Things this store has: A large aisle of United Kindgom/ Irish treats including Cadbury's, Tatos, jams & jellies A large selection of fancy ice cream and cookies for all your dessert needs Lots of beer and soda It's not a full grocery store, but it is several steps above your average corner market, and it's just about the last thing to close in West Portal.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
How can you not wander into a market with the name of Eezy Freezy? And it has a surprisingly good selection that has kept up with the changes in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
Eezy Freezy proves that even with a ridiculously dated name, you can still be the coolest corner market in town. This little store in West Portal allows you to live in European style - dropping by a local merchant every day to pick up this-and-that as you need it, knowing that they totally cater to your needs and tastes. Sample purchases from any random day or night: Bavarian multi grain bread, Page non-fat Greek yogurt, Jeremiah's Organic coffee, Hello magazine/British version, organic Fuji apples, Breadshop Granola, Dagoba organic chocolate, Max Nutro Cat Food/Dog Food. They sell wine and liquor as well. Talk about 1-stop shopping!

Yelp
5 stars for the name. 5 stars for the owner. After catching a movie, my boyfriend & I went shopping for some etc. grocery items that we forgot at our local Safeway. At 7 p.m. on a Saturday night, the Eezy Freezy was still open. I ventured into the wine section and noticed that they had a great selection of some dessert wines. My boyfriend picked one out & the owner complimented him on his choice. The owner then proceeded to take out a dessert wine from a hidden drawer, told the cashier girl to take out three plastic bowls, and allowed us to sample his $50 dessert wine that a customer had given him. He was so sweet. Two weekends later, we went to Eezy Freezy, Again, I ventured into the wine section and noticed that they had a great selection of some dessert wines. My boyfriend picked one out & the owner complimented him on his choice. The owner then proceeded to take out a the same dessert wine (from the two weekends ago) from a hidden drawer, told the cashier girl to take out three plastic bowls, and allowed us to sample his $50 dessert wine that a customer had given him. He was so sweet. The owner is very nice, and it's the deja vu service and the little miscellaneous items here that gives West Portal its charm.

Yoselin M.

Yelp
Went in to get MYSELF some beers. And the person at the register instead of telling me FROM THE BEGINNING that they had saw me talking to someone outside which was my brother (who was on his way to school and had no business with the beer whatsoever), let me go around the store to grab the things that I wanted and demanded for them to see my brother's ID (he had left already). I get it those are policies but if I'm telling you how things are and that he has nothing to do with it, then listen to me. I was excited to finally go in here since I thought there weren't any "corner stores" around West Portal Station. DEFINITELY NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN! They probably saw that I was a Brown girl with some hoops and were like "Oh here comes trouble, let's not sell to her"
google avatar

Lacee K.

Yelp
Did I actually just pay $35 for kombucha, gum, raspberry syrup, a flax barlemons and some spinach? Jesus Christ. This place totally dissapointed me. After my jaunt to West Portal I was super stoked to head into Eezy Freezy for what I thought would be a health food experience. I was sorely mistkaen! I was confused at first as I saw GT Kombucha on one side I turned and saw Cheetos. I found gluten free flour though two aisles over found Tilex, and twinkies. Eclipse gum next to flax and coconut health bars? I had higher hopes for this place. Perhaps too high. On my way out of the store I noticed a girl with a "health food" brown paper bag - had I missed the REAL health food experience in West Portal? Frustrated by my not so Ezzy NOR FREEzy moment I didn't dare chance stopping by another place just to spend more money on..well, lemons. If I lived around the corner and desperately needed, oh I don't know Rice Dream or Cheez Whiz I guess I'd come by. Thank God I stopped by Mollie Stones on Portola - that store is great!

Yelp
Remarkable selection for a place you might mistake for "just a convenience store" - first-rate ice-cream selection, many organic/gourmet options for staples, good wine selection, and a really helpful staff.
