The Best Breakfast Sandwiches In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Just like how a friends-with-benefits situation can sometimes get messy, the breakfast sandwiches from Eggs With Benefits aren’t exactly the neatest things to deal with—the soft scrambled eggs can sometimes spill out. But each pillowy brioche sandwich is packed with so much flavor from chives, sweet caramelized onions, and garlicky mayo, we’re willing to deal with a little eggy overflow. We like our sandwich with thinly sliced steak, all of the other options are equally tasty—bacon, sausage, chorizo, or even eggs alone." - john ringor, veda kilaru

The Best Restaurants In Rogers Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"For half-awake Loyola students in need of sustenance or anyone looking for a quick breakfast or lunch, Eggs With Benefits is a great Rogers Park option. This counter service spot is (obviously) all about eggs—scrambled and topped with chives. You can get them loaded into buttery brioche buns with crispy bacon or thinly sliced steak, or layered on top of Asian-inspired rice bowls with kimchi and Spam. Mornings and weekends can be busy, but most people order their food to-go from the touch-screen kiosks, so finding a seat is easy if you’re not rushing off to Orgo 101 at 9am." - john ringor, veda kilaru

Google
Best Tacos in Rogers Park/Loyola area, hands down. Authentic, balanced, not overly greasy. Tortillas also made in house! Put their hours up, Google! Sheesh. People need to get in on this.

Elissa R

Google
Had the Japanese Hash Curry Bowl. Fantastic! Would never have thought of combining Japanese curry and hashbrowns but it was a great combo. Recommend ordering an extra hashbrown patty side to add to the bowl.

Lilliana Weiss

Google
All time favorite restaurant in the area. The staff are super friendly and helpful especially Ricardo. Their chorizo bowl is my morning go to and their steak tacos are the best I’ve ever had and that’s saying something because I’ve had a lot of tacos.

Sara Hawes

Google
Love the bacon breakfast sandwich here. The eggs are fluffy and overall the sandwich has a great texture and taste. The freshly fried hash brown is also super tasty, and the best hash brown I have ever had. Coffee is from Metropolis. Love this place as an addition to Rogers Park!

Google
This place is good! I got the steak and egg sandwich. The egg was soft scrambled which can be an odd texture for some people and it was for me but I pushed past it. The hashbrown was so crispy and delicious, way better than McDonald’s. The sauces were also very good. The restaurant is small and cozy with plenty of seating. This place is self serve, they have two tablets to order from. I don’t think they accept cash but they accepted my Apple Pay. The owner (I think) was the one who served me, he was also training a worker in the back and was very kind to him. I will be back. The food was great.

Google
Fast service and the bowls were pretty good portion sizes. A little pricey, but they serve breakfast pretty late into the afternoon. The bacon is extra but worth it. The hash browns are your regular frozen hash browns but they're crispy and come with an onion jam. I learned what a calamansi was from the soda option, it's a small citrus fruit that's a hybrid between a kumquat and a mandarin. It's a pretty good soda.

Google
I’ve had the pleasure of stopping by and I’m a fan. Initially, I went for breakfast. Their egg add bacon croissant sandwich was something else. Very flavorful. Then I read more reviews and discovered they sell tacos! I drove by on a rainy Sunday (they closed at 5) and called my order in. They really are beautiful souls. Today, I ordered more tacos for dinner and was met with love. They really are beautiful people. I love great food and amazing customer service. Hats off to them.

Google
I have visited a few times my first time with a friend I had in town visiting and the owner was very nice and informative. He encouraged us to try the Calamansi Drink he has and we are hooked! The food has been consistent each time I have visited will recommend and bring others. Those eggs....

Yelp
I came here on Saturday for an early lunch. It was easy to get a table and ordering is easy with the touch screens. The food came out pretty quickly. I got the soft scramble sandwich and it was delicious. The egg was perfectly cooked. I want to try the other sandwiches and the other offerings there. I tried the side of kimchi and it was hot. I was not expecting kimchi to be hot as it's normally served cold. I think it would have been better cold.

Yelp
People of Edgewater and Rogers Park: Run (don't walk) to Eggs with Benefits: Korean inspired breakfast sandwiches (egg, sausage, smoked bacon, steak and egg & chorizo) + rice bowls (tonkotsu, Japanese curry and steak and egg). Fantastic!!!! I ordered the soft scramble sandwich on brioche. I added in a hash brown patty and it made it *chefs kiss* amazing. What makes the sandwiches special is the buttery soft and delicious brioche bun and soft scramble eggs. They cook the eggs (real eggs) from scratch at low temp. Taste just like home made. They just opened in the middle October. Go support this amazing local business you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Eggs with Benefits is a newer addition to Rogers Park and I can only imagine what it's like to have such a cool breakfast spot on Loyola's campus! They have Asian-inspired egg bowls like a doshirak and Japanese curry hash bowl as well as delicious egg sandwiches! We tried their Slagel Sausage and Egg sandwich which is an incredible combination of slagel farms pork sausage, soft scrambled eggs, cheese, garlic mayo, chives, and caramelized onions on a brioche bun. Service was quick and there was a lot of space for seating inside! I would LOVE to return and highly recommend you check it out!

Yelp
Let's be honest - we all had a rough morning. Maybe you're running late and experienced the dreaded ghost bus, or maybe it started to storm and today is the day you didn't pack an umbrella in your bag. Whether the cause is, I'm a firm believer that a breakfast sandwich can fix everything. My sandwich was buttery and rich, and the owner was warm and friendly. Definitely a needed morning pick-me-up in my books! You can tell how much care goes into the food here. I could write poetry about the caramelized onions!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a Godsend for me and my traveling companions. We were in need of food and I needed to rest as I was not feeling well. We were also caught in the storm that was the software failure for flights. Andrew the owner made us delicious food and continued to be helpful and kind to us for the duration of our frantic stay in his restaurant. He even offered us coffee! Even though I didn't feel well, when I did get to eat his food was perfectly balanced and delicious. This is definitely a place I will revisit when back in Chicago! Please please make sure you visit this absolute gem of a place! Thank you Andrew! I know this review is super late but it's definitely worth it to post!

Yelp
Great scramble eggs in all the dishes and having them in traditional and less common ways (doshirak and Japanese curry). Would have loved to have less plastic (bowls come in ready-to-go takeout bowls which you can slap a lid on for leftovers to take). Would have been fine with tap water (not sure what beverage is best here if not coffee). Canned calamansi soda might have been one option. Of course tap water in a plastic cup is only part-way better than plastic bottled water...just looking at a better beverage pairing while keeping costs down in this counter-service small staff approach. Much more impressed with the egg skills here than another breakfast sandwich place in RP. Thanks Will and Andrew for another great launch in the RP area.

Yelp
First of all, the name alone deserves an automatic visit. I was extremely excited to see Eggs With Benefits open in the neighborhood because I have been looking for a spot that makes a simple egg sandwich. I finally got around to visiting the restaurant and I do not know what took me so long. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and clean. They opted for a minimalist decor but they have a ton of sitting that could accommodate parties of 1-4 people. This is the perfect spot to attract both the college and local crowd. The staff is top notch at Eggs With Benefits. They were helpful and friendly to every single person that stopped in. On the menu the eggs are described as soft scrambled but I observed them being willing to accommodate someone that wanted harder eggs and bacon. During my visit I asked one of the staff members which sandwich was the most popular and he said it was an even split between the sausage and bacon sandwich. So I opted for the bacon sandwich while my husband got the sausage sandwich both with a side of hash brown. In this day and age when places have to cut back on the size of their dishes, Eggs With Benefits does not hold back. I kid you not, there are not a lot of places I visit in which after the first bite of the food I know they are going to be in the area for awhile. I did not realize how important having seasoned eggs was until I visited Eggs With Benefits. You can tell that they are passionate about having quality breakfast sandwiches while still keeping it reasonability priced. Initially I was hesitant to order the side of hash brown because it felt like it was a lot of food but I wanted to test out the quality. I am so happy I got the hash brown because it was the right amount of crispy without being greasy. I normally stray away from hash browns or tater tots because they are always greasy but I have not idea how they found a way to make it perfectly crispy. I got a solid two meals out of my order. I highly recommend visiting Eggs With Benefits. I can easily see myself visit here weekly because I do not think I have had a better breakfast sandwich since leaving NYC.

Yelp
Limited menu, especially for vegetarians. A bit pricey given the portion size. Service was good.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast place in Chicago! The sandwiches and breakfast bowls are amazing. The service is fast and the employees are super friendly. (And Andrew is amazing! It is obvious that he truly cares about his customers.) The food has been a 10/10 every time we have gone, and we've been there well over a dozen times now! PS. Try the steak and egg sandwich!!!
google avatar

Adam K.

Yelp
Breakfast places are a dime a dozen. There are so many because breakfast dishes are pretty easy to make. Eggs with Benefits is a new entrant on an odd stretch of Sheridan Road. This basic interior place has integrated Korean ingredients and form factors like breakfast bowls. They also have breakfast sandwiches as well. You order from a touch screen. We ordered a Chorizo and Egg Sandwich, a Bacon and Egg Sandwich, hash browns, kimchi, and a Topo Chico. The sandwiches were good. The kimchi is not served cold but more as a warm relish. This cost $35, which included a tip.

Yelp
This is really a hidden gem in our community. All of the food is amazing & the service is always very friendly. It's a Must-Go for all locals!
google avatar

Yelp
We've eaten food from here a few times and it never disappoints! They have breakfast bowls, but our go-to is the Soft Scramble sandwich on Brioche. The combination of the creamy eggs, caramelized onions, chives, and garlic mayo is perfect! I add some sausage to the sandwich and an order of hashbrowns. Parking can be a challenge, but nearby side streets have places to park and are within walking distance. It's practically on the Loyola campus. We order online and it's always ready on time and they're really nice! The restaurant is always clean from what we can tell. Again, we take our orders to go.

Yelp
Excellent breakfast sandwich, clearly cooked to order. Fresh OJ was good too. Service was quick and efficient. Co-owner Andrew was behind the counter, asked everyone " is this your first time?" and very interested in customers' opinions, which were overwhelmingly positive. Decor is simple and efficient. Metered street parking outside, with a couple of standing only spots to help with online order pickups. Right across from Target on Sheridan, north of Devon. Only opened since October, so go soon, this place will be packed once Loyola opens for the fall semester. I'll be back.

Yelp
BEST FOOD I'VE EVER HAD!! WOW! Seriously delicious! I live in Los Angeles, and I am so sad that I don't have this close to me, and now I have to wait to go back to Chicago to have some more.

Aggie H.

Yelp
One bite in and I thought "This is the best egg sandwich I've ever had." Eggs were perfectly cooked, onions and sausage were generous and savory and yum! So big I couldn't finish it. Though I did also have the hash brown and a delish doughnut, so. Will definitely go back (as often as i can) for the food, but also b/c Andrew was just the nicest, friendliest guy. Uber cool, and not just to make a sale. Seems like the kind of guy anyone would want to hang out with. Go for the food; hang around for Andrew.

Yelp
I decided to try it out with my husband and two friends (all first timers) today--I regret sleeping on this restaurant! First thing I noticed--the whole staff seemed very engaged, friendly, and genuinely happy--usually a sign of great leadership and a great experience--and that was the case with our visit. Everything was clean and well-organized, and I liked the simple esthetic of the dining area. The quality of ingredients was fantastic, and all of the food was cooked to perfection. Favorite foods of our table included the Slagel Sausage and Egg sandwich, steak and egg sandwich, and the Japanese curry hash bowl. We also all loved that the menu is simple and uncomplicated--the perfect amount of options and offers something for just about anyone's needs. On a side note, while the owner, Andrew, apologized for this, I was ecstatic to see a line from the order kiosks all the way to the door! We are looking forward to coming back soon, and having EWB in the neighborhood for years to come!

Yelp
Visited while in Chicago recently. DNC was in town but not planned at all. The name caught my attention and so.... Great food. Had my first real breakfast bowl not store bought. Wish I had time to go back but trip was curtailed. Teabagged cinnamon, turmeric, flavor was great. Service was great. Easy morning atmosphere as I was learning the neighborhood. Will make it my business to get back there when in the Windy City again.

Yelp
Eggs with benefits consistently proves they should be in business. I love love love their egg and steak sandwich. I also love how they wrap their breakfast sandwiches so you can enjoy them handheld so as not to make a mess. The cold brew they sell (metropolis coffee) speaks for itself. A piece of heaven.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Stopped in because I was soooo hungry and forgot my yogurt in the fridge and had a 10 A.M. meeting. The guy, who I assume is the owner, was beyond nice and HONEST. When I asked him how long it would take to get something with eggs to go he said like 5 min. He was spot on! Had a steak and egg sandwich - normally do not eat that way in the morning but it was EGGSELLENT! Will be back for sure when I am in the area to try something else! The place is also very clean, so I really hit the jackpot today!!! Love the name too LOL

Yelp
I visited Eggs with Benefits on Thursday, and tried the Doshirak Korean Lunch Bowl- it sounded like the most interesting item on the menu, though everything sounded delicious! What immediately pleasantly surprised me was a beautiful presentation of crunchy nori sheets, sesame seeds, and fragrant sesame oil on top of the bowl. The serving tray was clean and covered in parchment paper, and the owner also added a hashbrown patty on the side. The bowl itself was delicious, with very unique flavors- the egg was fluffy and flavorful as promised, the sauteed kimchi was buttery and was (from a person who doesn't love kimchi) very good, the spam was surprisingly delicious and crispy- and the toppings added a perfect element of umami and salt. This was a delicious lunch, no ingredient was overpowering the others. The hashbrown patty was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and an absolutely welcome addition! The shop was very clean and aesthetic, I was able to get some work done while I ate which was great! The open kitchen format was also a nice touch. I look forward to returning to try the pork tonkatsu, curry, and egg which seemed very popular. Also- they carry do-rite donuts! My only feedback would be to possibly offer an omurice/french omelette style egg on top for more variance in the textures of the dish- but the fluffy scrambled egg is delicious, likely way easier to prep, and a more widely liked option. Overall, Eggs with Benefits is a great new restaurant in the area that is absolutely worth trying- and you'll probably find yourself coming back again and again!
google avatar

Dan G.

Yelp
The minimal unassuming decor belies a diner with some amazing egg sandwiches. Wasn't aware it was an Asian fusion place so I stuck with a more traditional chorizo sandwich. The soft brioche bun was a little bit unexpected but turned out to be perfect complement to the eggs and seasoning
google avatar

Annie K.

Yelp
Had the soft scramble sandwich and doshirak bowl. So delicious! Friendly service, cozy vibe, conveniently located. Looking forward to returning to try more items!
google avatar

Nani K.

Yelp
My new favorite spot. They have the art of eggs down to a science; always the perfect texture and consistency. The quality of their products is just that, quality. so it hits every time. The sandwiches are perfect; the hash browns are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I love this place the service is quick, the prices are right and so is the vibe. I live above a cafe that serves breakfast but I'd rather drive/ hop on the redline and grab a sandwich from here because the food is just that good. 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
Adorable neighborhood gem with an eye-catching name. Saw it across the street from Target so many times I decided I had to try it. I ordered take-out one day and it was ready very quickly. I had the curry bowl with rice, eggs, caramelized onions and a hash brown patty, plus a couple slices of pickled daikon. Taste sensation! The food was still piping hot when I got home. This is a simple menu with a fabulous price point. I was excited to see a full restaurant when I went into pick up. Can't wait to try one of their breakfast sandwiches!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Eggs with Benefits is just heavenly to be honest. I'm not even the biggest egg person but this place makes me crave them. A delectable soft scramble upon some of the best butter-toasted buns I've ever had... add the garlic mayo, melty cheese and caramelized onions and it's seriously the best breakfast you'll ever have. I've also tried the Japanese curry bowl with the crispiest hashbrown on top. I've also enjoyed a good side of kimchi. And the fresh orange juice is FRESH! Service is always fast, employees are super friendly (shout out to the one guy who gave me, my sister and boyfriend some free hashbrowns to celebrate midterms being over!!) and the inside is nice and clean if you're trying to sit down and eat it at its freshest.
google avatar

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches seem to be everywhere now in Chicago. Seems to be inspired by Bear tv show. But this newest addition is doing it right. I had the sausage patty egg and hash brown on brioche. Absolutely amazing. Right next to Loyola's Campus in Rogers Park. Fast friendly service in a newly renovated space.
google avatar

Hanjong L.

Yelp
Perfect meal for anytime of the day! Surprisingly satisfying, tasty and comforting sandwiches. Thank you for making another creative sandwiches! I will be back sure!

Joroel Terrence M.

Yelp
Food is soooo yummy and Andrew is the best host! Will definitely come back to try other dish in the menu
google avatar

Angel J.

Yelp
Brand new and knocking it the park from the gate. The sandwiches are so light and fluffy and butter and everything an egg sandwich should be. I got the little coffee on the right which is the perfect size for breakfast. It was sweet but not sugary, strong but not bitter. The hashbrown was perfectly crispy. The staff were all exceptionally friendly.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Takes breakfast sandwiches and breakfast bowls to the next level. Went back two days later after the first day to try more. Will be returning every time I'm back in Chicago. Owners and cooks are all motivated and talented at what they do. Hope this place continues to grow and gain the recognition it deserves.
google avatar

Yelp
Really delicious breakfast sandwiches! The eggs are cooked perfectly and as the soft and pillowy. The cheese is empty and the bun is toasty and delicious. Good coffee too. Treat yourself :)

Julie M.

Yelp
Run, don't walk, to Eggs with Benefits. We went on a Monday night for some egg-y comfort food and we loved everything we ordered. We were greeted by the owner, Andrew, and their ordering system was very easy to navigate. He had some great suggestions for add-ons to our order, as we wanted to try a good sampling of the menu. I ordered the Japanese curry bowl and added Spam. What a luscious, comforting bowl of goodness! The hash brown patty was crisp and stood up to the moat of curry sauce. The eggs were fluffy and light and were a great contrast to the salty Spam and the savory caramelized onions. My friend ordered the Steak and Egg sandwich. It had plenty of meat and egg and he noted that it was just perfect. I also ordered an egg salad sandwich to go. They packaged up the bun separately so it wouldn't be soggy the following day - which I appreciated! I toasted the bun the next day and the egg salad was super flavorful and well seasoned. They are open all day (breakfast thru dinner). We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This place rules. Met a buddy visiting from Canada, and we got in pretty early Sunday morning, while the young people were still recovering. Crisp, clean look, nice dining room, very friendly staff! Buddy ordered the Kimchi and Tofu bowl and I got the Steak and Egg bowl. Outstanding. We both managed to eat 1/2 before we were stuffed, and I mixed both leftovers together for tonight's dinner. Oh, and do not sleep on the $2 Hash brown, it is a next-level experience. Really terrific breakfast. Thanks!
google avatar

Jared L.

Yelp
No gastronomic experience but worth it once in a while if you don't want to take them time to prep yourself.
google avatar

Justin V.

Yelp
great food and vibes! the staff are super friendly and give the whole place a fantastic neighborhood feel.

Sam T.

Yelp
Wonderful, brioche buns with lovely eggs! Can't beat that for me, you won't regret buying food from here.
google avatar

Anne P.

Yelp
Yum! Friendly service and delicious everything. I got the bacon egg sandwich and they honored my request for crispy bacon. Also got the Doshirak and asked for it sans kimchi bc I'm not a huge fan and was worried it wouldn't have enough flavor without that element but the spam (don't sleep on spam!) and the nori and sesame oil did just fine to flavor this yummy bowl!
google avatar

Megan A.

Yelp
We're neighbors so we figured we'd check it! We tried the Japanese curry and the smoked bacon sandwich - food was very good! The curry is definitely a must and they partner with other local business for coffee and donuts. Orders are placed through a kiosk but the service was nice and quick! Very chill ambiance. Would recommend!

Yelp
DO NOT SLEEP ON THE EGG SALAD SANDO! It is criminal how good it is. Exceptional quality, price, and portions. I feel some breakfast/brunch joints either try too hard to re-invent the wheel and alienate that average diner or cop out and hit ya with the same items available in every corner diner with a flattop grill. Simple items executed well individually that when combined create the unique Eggs w/ Benefits experience. They shoot straight and hit the target every time. A welcomed addition to the breakfast/brunch space. I gladly travel from Evanston for this spot. Worth mentioning that the owner/operator is previously of 10Q Chicken in Evanston and brings the same ethos to this venture. Service is fast and with a smile. Got the Steak Bowl, Sausage Sando, and EGG SALAD SANDO(!) w/hash browns. Will be back to explore more of this well curated menu.

Yelp
Bowls and sandwiches are delicious. Some of the friendliest and fastest service in the area. Big portions and you have to get the hashbrowns! As a Loyola student it is awesome to have a place like this in the area. :)

Paul W.

Yelp
Instant favorite. The sandwiches are bar none. Just tried the new chorizo and egg sandwich, and I'm craving another already. Maybe tomorrow! The owner and staff are bringing true foodie sensibility with flavors that make my mouth and tummy happy to be alive. Bowls also wonderful and don't forget a crunchy fresh hash brown
google avatar

Pamela J.

Yelp
Appropriate portion sizes for breakfast but wow! What phenomenal food! Had the steak & egg breakfast sandwich and the flavors were amazing. Chef and his team were friendly and engaging. Great music. Will be back soon to hang out with a sandwich, a good cup of coffee and my kindle.
google avatar

Kaitlin B.

Yelp
The breakfast sandwich was amazing!! Didn't expect to be raving about a breakfast sandwich because most of the time I order them they're easy, fast, cheap, and just fine, but these are truly great. The sausage and egg sandwich was super flavorful. The soft scramble eggs are divine. The onions are truly caramelized--not sautéed or fried like I usually encounter at restaurants. Everything came together so well. I'll definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good but hey its just eggs i cant give 5 stars to anything egg based on principle. Generous portions!! Eggscellent!! I would write more but i dont have anymore yolks up my sleeve
google avatar

Yelp
Sandwiches are really good and super, super affordable especially for college kids too. Service was very friendly and lots of smiles. Location is great on sheridan too.

Yelp
This place is quickly becoming a staple in the community. Food is incredible. Andrew and his staff are always friendly. If you are in Rogers Park you have to try it.

Yelp
I ordered the scramblers eggs with onions and cheese with hash brown (crispy and perfectly soft from the inside). Will definitely be going here again! Very fast service too.

Yelp
It's my first time eating here and the food was incredibly satisfying. I was on the go from the bank to work & decided to stop in for a quick bite. The ambiance was chill & for midday Tuesday was pretty slow. I had the option to sit anywhere & the service was very welcoming. This place is right next to Loyola so I can imagine it gets pretty packed, so I'm glad I stopped in on a slower day. Even though it's a small menu, I can't wait to come back & try out the other items!
