"Founded as a food truck by Alvin Cailan in 2011, this breakfast-sandwich concept grew into a multi-city chain known for widely celebrated, highly Instagrammable breakfast sandwiches and locations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, London, and Tokyo. Its upcoming Melrose Market location has provoked neighbors not only over its provocative name but also because opaque window coverings, a large yellow facade and nighttime construction tied to the build-out have blocked natural light, made parts of the market look shuttered, and coincided with noticeable declines in nearby tenants’ sales. Company spokespeople emphasize efforts to minimize disruption, fast-track the buildout, and work with the landlord on visibility improvements; the landlord says the project should finish in roughly six weeks and expects the concept to draw more visitors to the market." - Harry Cheadle
"There’s a reason that a line of sleepy tourists winds around this breakfast spot every day from 7 a.m. until noon. Breakfast sandwiches here are warm, easy to take on-the-go, and they’re tasty. Go with crowd favorites like the Fairfax sandwich with soft scrambled eggs, chives, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and sriracha mayo. Or order the Slut — a coddled egg with smooth potato purée, and slices of baguette. Or, if the morning really calls for it, the gaucho sandwich has wagyu tri-tip steak, chimichurri, and an over-medium egg in a warm brioche bun." - Janna Karel
"Bringing your friends somewhere called Eggslut might be met with more confused looks than that time you picked an Airbnb with a chicken coop in the backyard. But once you go to the second floor of The Cosmopolitan and your friends see the line that has now reached the elevator, they’ll begin to take you and your decision-making skills more seriously. You can’t go wrong with any of the egg sandwiches on the menu, but we almost always go with the Fairfax. It has caramelized onions and Sriracha mayo, and is the type of recommendation that will have you back in charge of the hotel reservations in no time." - emmy kasten, milena difiore, edward thompson
"A greasy breakfast sandwich devoured on a hotel bed can be heaven after a night of drinking. Diners who crave eggs, cheese, and bread can grab a breakfast sandwich at Eggslut at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Options include bacon, egg, and cheese on brioche; wagyu tri-tip, eggs. and chimchurri; and bread-free options for gluten-free hangover sufferers." - Janna Karel
"While the name of Alvin Cailan’s ode to breakfast sandwiches may be a bit on the questionable side, that shouldn’t stop customers from lining up for the Fairfax with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions, and cheddar cheese on a brioche bun or the gaucho with wagyu tribute-tip steak, chimichurri, and an over-medium egg on brioche. Head to the location on the second level of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas." - Susan Stapleton
