Winemaker Spotlight: Kevin Morrisey of Ehlers Estate

"After the internship at Petrus, he returned to Napa where he worked for several years at Stags’ Leap Winery and later, Etude Wines with his mentor Tony Soter, before accepting the winemaker position at Ehlers Estate in 2009. He was attracted to the estate’s farming practices, and the vineyards, which were certified organic in 2008." - Erin Brooks

Winemaker Spotlight: Kevin Morrisey of Ehlers Estate

"Kevin likens the responsibility of being a winemaker to that of a chef. “I’m making something and I’m asking you to put it in your body,” he says. “That’s an intimate act and it gives me a responsibility. If I’m supercharging what I’m making with all the goodness that I can harness, that will nourish you. Compare that to the angry chef pistol-whipping his employees in the kitchen—is that food going to nourish your soul? Anything you do affects everything else, near and far. If you approach your work that way, you’ll get more out of it and put more into it. I don’t think about it as making better wine; I think of it as a more fulfilling way to approach your work.”" - Erin Brooks

Goods friends visited from out-of-state and we arranged wine tastings in Napa Valley. They enjoy fine wine and have had the opportunity to visit many Napa wineries over time. This was their first visit to Ehlers Estate, where we are wine club members. They were extremely impressed with the array of wines which were poured and with the superior customer service (Thank you, Rosa!). They enjoyed the wine so much, they purchased multiple bottles to have shipped to them. Major kudos to Ehlers for having provided us with a memorable experience in an impressive, recently renovated building.

Thoroughly enjoyed Ehlers Estate. The tasting facility is absolutely beautiful and our host was a wealth of information. We love the story behind this terrific place and the wines were incredible. We joined the wine club in May. We have been home a few months and have had time to reflect on our Napa experiences and memberships we bought. Oddly, our wine did not show up until the middle of August (in Florida)-maybe that was our misunderstanding. Regardless, we are still very, very happy we joined this club and will remain club members.

We loved our visit to Ehlers Estate. We love wine but don’t know much about it. Rosa gave us a master class in wine using words that made sense. She has worked for Ehlers for 16 years! She was so patient and kind and made us feel right at home. Thank y’all so much! :)

Google
Ehlers estate is an extremely beautiful winery. The wines were AMAZING and every single staff member is so accommodating. This was our first time at Ehlers and we had the pleasure of being guests at an event with Chrissy Tracey for a dinner pairing. It was a beautiful night filled with wonderful people. We are very grateful to all of Ehlers for the warm welcome and delicious wine.

Prepare to be pampered. The staff are incredibly diligent and pay attention to every detail to make sure your experience is enjoyable. For example, we brought some cheese to eat outside in the olive garden, but forgot the cheese cutter. After mentioning it to Jenny, she returned with a plethora of cheese cutters as she wasn’t sure what type of cheese we brought. Add to this, she brought plates, forks, and still water to drink. It’s those extras and attention to detail you’ll experience when visiting.

My friend and I visited Ellers Estate this January 2025 because they were part of the discounted offerings through the Napa Valley Vintners Association's event for locals and California residents. We had never been there before, and we were absolutely delighted by what we found! This little gem of a winery tucked away on a back road away from the hustle and bustle of the more popular wineries, was a treat in every way. Our server, Rosa, was engaging, friendly, and informative regarding the history and the winemaking processes. We relaxed in an ambience of warmth and coziness, highlighted by beautiful tapestries of soft muted colors on the walls. The whole seated experience indoors was private and intimate. This is one of my all-time favorite winery experiences ever. We toured the grounds and wrapped up our 90-minute visit with a taste of the 2014 1886 Cabernet. What a way to top off a beautiful tasting of four other wines! Just knowing that the profits of the tastings and wine sales go to the Leducq Foundation for international cardiovascular research, was another reason to deeply appreciate this visit. I would like to thank Rosa, Ehlers Estate, and the Napa Valley Vintners for such a wonderful opportunity to experience this beautiful historical winery.

Google
Ehler’s was easily one of the most high end wine tasting experiences we have been to. Gessica was our host and had such an incredible knowledge of the history and wines of the Ehler’s property. The extra pours were pretty incredible as well. The wine we picked up will be the first we choose to cellar age for a few years, and we look forward to opening it.

Google
Probably the best wine tasting experience we’ve ever experienced. My wife and I have been to many Napa Valley wine tastings and our hostess, Nurit, was the most knowledgeable and professional we’ve ever had. We will certainly recommend EHLERS ESTATE to our friends. E&J McClure

Yelp
We've been to Ehlers quite a few times and are never disappointed. We stopped by earlier today in celebration of our son's 21st birthday and it was a total hit with him. Rosa was our hostess and she was an absolute gem - friendly, professional, knowledgeable. She gave us all kinds of information on the wines she poured and relayed some great stories of having worked at Ehlers over the years. We had been wine club members in the past and decided to sign up once again. The wine line up here is off the charts and is focused on quality. A great place to check out whether one is new to wine or a seasoned pro.

Yelp
Ehlers Estate was beautiful. We were referred to it by a friend that represents another wine company nearby. We are beginners and Rosa made us feel like we were in her home. She is an absolute gem!! Thank you Rosa!!!

Yelp
What a wonderful day our team had at this private tasting! The grounds were lovely, Gessica was so knowledgable and not only filled our glasses with delicious wines, but also our heads with amazing history. We visited on March 25th and I've been remiss in writing this, but if you can get there, don't miss it!

Yelp
Ehlers Estate Winery was such a treat! It was the first winery we'd stopped at on our day of tasting and I was so excited to try it out! Driving up to Ehlers Estate is gorgeous as many, many vines as visible. The buildings of the Estate are all beautifully decorated and the history behind them is fascinating. I hadn't seen a wine egg before so that was especially cool to see here! As we were walking up, we were greeted immediately once we walked in. Our tasting table had been set up and the gal that was helping us was wonderful. She had such a great attitude and really seemed to enjoy her career there. The setup for the tasting was beautifully laid out and thoughtful. Ehlers is really into symbolism and there are quite some wonderful ones from the wine bottles, to the paintings, to the ones around the property. Our tasting consisted of one rose and red wines. The Cab Franc is a really special wine here.. though it will set you back a bit. Though I didn't find any wines I wanted to take home this time, Ehlers really has a passion for wine and they donate a large portion of their profits. Really loved this place! 9/10 recommend

Yelp
Ehlers Estate continues to be one of my favorite places in the Valley. Situated in St. Helena, Ehlers Estate has an interesting history that alone makes it worth a visit. But their wines, more specifically the 1886, should be the main reasons why.

Yelp
I treated my Gourmet Food & Wine Tours guides to a staff day to ensure we know the best places to recommend in both Napa and Sonoma. We had an amazing experience with Gessica, and we were thrilled that the wines at Ehlers more than lived up to its amazing reputation. We prioritize sourcing wineries that are organic whenever possible, and Ehlers will be one of the first wineries I recommend to our guests.

Yelp
Mario & Rosa were amazing!!!!!! So knowledgeable, accommodating, hospitable, & personal. We had a LOVELY tasting with Mario & we loved all the wines. Would recommend time & time again! We sat outside in the garden near the olive trees & despite the construction they did the best at transforming the experience into something comfortable & personalized.

Yelp
The estate is beautiful. Maria was a WONDERFUL hostess and the wine was exceptional. (And the GM is knowledgeable and good Lookin' too!)

Yelp
My lovely colleagues and I were partaking in the Estate Tasting at Ehlers Estate on Monday, March 25. Our fabulous guide was Gessica and I could not recommend her enough for your tasting experience! She is very knowledgeable, positive, super friendly and just all in all have a lovely aura! The newly renovated tasting room is this quiet, historical place where you instantly feel welcomed. The highlights were the 2022 Dry Creek Sauvignon Blanc, the 2016 Cabernet Franc and the 2018 Portrait which is a beautiful Cab Dominant Blend. Gessica also took us out for a walk around the property and the experience could not been more enjoyable!

Yelp
we met everyone today! From Johnathan, our host, to Rebecca, Rosa, V, KC and Laura, the wine maker... never forget the wine maker. these guys are all amazing! everyone has a story and a beautiful perspective on wines, most specifically Ehlers wines but also their own pallets make for an enlightening experience! we loved discussing wines and why Ehlers crafts such beautiful, full bodied oh and ORGANIC wines! i will not highlight any single wine as your palette may be different from ours but man oh man the wines are amazing!!! and the back story is the foundation donates all its proceeds to cardiac research! food for thought. amazing winery to visit and please do make a reservation so you too can enjoy the entire experience they provide! each person here has a beautiful addition to your day. what a lovely place to enjoy beautifully crafted wines!

Yelp
An absolutely stunning facility, perfect for causally sipping on great wines. Our guide was incredibly sweet and walked us through all of the different wines and a bit of history on the vineyard and their new wine maker. We were able to tour the facility a bit and walk around their pretty gardens and vineyards. Atmosphere and ambiance was top notch, and we were also impressed with the quality of the wines. Very much a relaxed atmosphere as far as tastings go, and on the higher quality side. Highly recommend.

Yelp
There are hundreds of wine tasting experiences in the Napa Valley. It can be quite a daunting task picking one. My friend from Michigan and I picked Ehlers Estate for their eclectic library of red wines. It was our first authentic Napa Valley experience. We pulled into the property, which featured a beautiful stone barn surrounded by bucolic fields of the finest vines. The tasting room is in that barn, an airy structure with ceilings at least 25 feet high. We were warmly greeted by Jonathan, who introduced us to our guide, Vanessa. Vanessa has a long family history on the property and in fact has two relatives who help to make these wines. Tastings at Ehlers are very much a high-contact experience. She carefully described our wines, and beautifully described the mission and the care that goes into every vine on the property. We had a short tour of the property, including the fermentation tanks, the fields, and even the original guest house. We were bowled over by the science and yes, love that makes every ounce of this exquisite wine. The wine is organic. The sun and rain, the farmers, and the careful stewardship of the winemaker Laura (who we had the privilege to meet) are the only ingredients. We were most impressed by the mission of this boutique winery. The profits go to cardiovascular resarch, inspired by the LeDucq family, whose patriarch survived due to the efforts of the geniuses at the Mayo Clinic. Over $350 million has been donated by the foundation to date, including the proceeds from this winery. To summarize, this is a Napa Valley gem and set a high bar for our subsequent tasting experiences. I recommend it strongly to anyone who cares about wine and the stories of the people who make it.

Yelp
This is Winery is getting a one star of covering and filtering out my google review. I originally gave it a three star as It did not live up to my expectation from what I received and experienced on the grounds versus from what I was notified of beforehand. Was promised and said to have an extra selection pour besides on the phone before the appointment. That didn't happen on day of. That's fine if you don't have it the day of but don't go blatantly handing the bottle between three different other host and say "NO, there no more selection to taste or extra pour" when I asked in person the day of after we can see you doing it for the other parties! Please don't lie to me when blatantly to my face. This behavior is now reflected by their actions on how they handled the google review. Secondly my party was ignored while my host who was already late with her previous party had to go and then had to help out with another party to load up their wine as if we weren't important. Aka they was missing for 70% of the time. Third let's not brag about big pours when you poured less then three ounces per glass and never asked for us to re-visit anything. IF you don't want to host us there then please refund my money and say it so I don't have to waist my time with the presence of someone who is not compelled to do their job responsibilities based on the premise on which they are hired. The post is to show my response for the underlying tactics from this winery who has taken off by google on the backend. The Shady tactic of backend filtering out the review instead of asking what was personally wrong. The info's are in the system with the phone numbers and booking dates through Tock along with the payments paid before hand. You don't have to give me your email you know info already.

Yelp
Having experienced dozens of tastings across Napa Valley -- large, medium, small, and tiny -- I have to say this was one of the most disappointing visits I have had. That said, the wines are fine, but these days in Napa it is all about the 'experience' of visiting a winery and this is where Ehlers fell down. I had an appointment, was shuffled between three staff for my tasting, and left alone for at least 80% of my tasting. A bit tough to ask questions, etc. when no one is around. This was disappointment especially being a customer of theirs. When I am tasting, I prefer to get a different glass. Usually for each wine, but at least between the whites and reds, but not here. One for all and all for one. I was also interested in the artwork being shown, but my staff didn't know anything about it. Also I caught a bit of attitude when I wanted to place my order at the end of my visit, which was the final straw of me being unable to overlook the other shortcomings of my visit. Could have been a bad day, but for me it will be 'one and done' for this winery and I will return to places where the experience was much better.

Yelp
My family has been wine club members off and on for years. Last week I visited the estate for the second time. I visited 8 other vineyards during our short stay, and while a few of the other vineyards had 1 or 2 wines I thought could be considered better, Ehler's provided the most consistency across the board for a great price. Every wine was fantastic. It's always our families favorite visit. Having our names on the chalkboard, waiting for us at our tasting table is a nice touch. Bernard led us through the tasting and gave us some valuable pointers on cellaring and peak times of some of the wines we had bought with them over the years. Ehler's allowed us to store our picnic lunch we brought in their fridge, which we enjoyed out in the Olive grove after our tasting. Ehler's true strength is in that they don't have a multi year waiting list in order to purchase wines like some other vineyards, but still offer a very personalized and boutique feel. Can't wait to enjoy the 2011 1886 Cab we picked up from the library and can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
What an experience! This winery has so much history, and the sommelier Bree was very knowledgeable about the history and quality of the wines. I don't want to give up my favorite because they were low in quantity, and my sweetie AKA GA and I EC plan on ordering a few cases. Another personal detail that caught my attention was the E shape on its bottles with a silhouette with its meaning and caused it's heartfelt and wonderful

Yelp
We had a good time here. Nice wine and nice Service. They have a little section that displays their DIY candles and necklaces made from their wine bottles and corks. The best part is I love their complimentary bread sticks. :)

Yelp
Thank you Ehlers for a wonderful experience. Celebrated my birthday in Napa and this was the second winery we went to. The winery itself is rustic chic and the wines were delicious. When we arrived late to our appointment the staff was incredibly kind. The personal touches is what made this my favorite winery of the day. On the tasting list they printed happy birthday Camila and waived my tasting fee! They waive a fee per 2 bottles which is not hard to do because the wine is wonderful and the customer service is great! Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday, Ehlers Estate!

Yelp
We started our day here with the "Start your Day" tasting. What better way to start your day than with Bouchon croissants and great wine? Charlotte was our host and we enjoyed our time with her. We started out with the Sauvignon Blanc and moved on to the Cabernet Franc, Portrait Red and the 1886 Cabernet Sauvignon while enjoying the croissants, walking through the gardens, vineyards and barrel room. We even had a taste of a future release while out in the barrell room. The grounds are beautiful and the tasting room is is in an old stone building, but still manages to have a modern feel. The wines were all great and we shipped home some of everything we tried. It's resrvation only, but it's well worth your time to make a reservation and visit.
google avatar

Len L.

Yelp
I like Ehlers wines. Mostly a cab specialist, Ehlers has a few others too. The winery is an 1886 stone building nicely appointed. The grounds are beautiful. All grapes grown onsite.
google avatar

Katherine K.

Yelp
This winery truly took a piece of my heart! This is reservation only, when we walked in our names were on a little board at a very comfortable seating area! We had a huge couch to ourselves, and a very large wooden coffee table. The wines were fantastic, we tasted. Wide variety, ending with a very beautiful Cabernet! The customer service was impeccable, we felt right at home with the staff. Also, 100% of their profits goes to cardiovascular research, which is amazing! We will definitely be back to taste more of their fabulous wines.
google avatar

Jeff C. J.

Yelp
I want to marry this wine. Bordeaux treatment of beautiful California fruit. Elegant, balanced and euphoric. I'm afraid to post a review because I don't want the secret to be let out. Wine lover's wine but also approachable. I have several cases cellared and I have more on the way. The 100% Cab Franc is a standout, but this winery is for the cab lovers. I've loved this winery for a long time and see a long and beautiful relationship ahead. But still open to other wine experiences on the side.
google avatar

Yelp
It doesn't get much better! I love reds and Ehlers always delievers. We are members and brought some friends with us for a tasting. They loved all the wines too! Brianna is always a pleasure to have as our host. She is knowledgeable about the history of the winery, and the wine itself.
google avatar

Yelp
A visit to the Ehlers Estate Winery is a very nice experience. We reserved the 9:30am appointment for a tasting and tour that ended with Bouchon Bakery Croissants. (Yum!) Our hostess was lovely and provided an in-depth history of the property, the wine, the owners and where the estate is today. She also provided us umbrellas while we toured the property during a very rainy morning. After our tour we were led back to our reserve table where we were able to sample 4 wines (if I recall). During our tasting we dined on the croissants, which were the BEST croissants I have had in the USA or in Paris. I could have ate 4! After our tasting we declined to make any wine purchase - because we were not an overall fan of the wine we tasted - AND we did not feel pressured to purchase or left feeling guilty that we did not make a purchase. This left us with a great experience because the pressure of the sale can turn off a consumer and not want to return. We would try Ehlers wine in the future to try other vintages, and I still encourage you to also visit the winery, especially at the 9:30am time frame. You won't be disappointed. Note: You must make an appointment for this time. You never know a favorite until you give one a try. Cheers!

Yelp
This is an estate that everyone must visit. Their wines are well above expectations, and the model that they have, where they work with the heart association is a remarkable statement to Napa ingenuity and the American spirit (no pun intended) The tasting area is very welcoming and our super fabulous host Bradley made this an even better experience ( a touch of class here - he sent us a thank you note in the box of wine we ordered....yes it was the 120/80). The wine had a distinct flavor and they were all drinkable, whether that release or later in their maturity cycle. i intend to find out......

Yelp
Wow! Ehlers never disappoints. Hosts are very knowledgeable and welcoming. The start your day tour includes Bouchon croissants and is available at 9:30. Definitely recommend the tour if you want to get started early. The tasting room has a casual setting with couches that allow for conversation between the host and your party. This type of setup is unique compared to other wineries in the area and felt like you were in the Ehlers "living room". All 100% organic estate wines.

Rachael L.

Yelp
Ehlers was beautiful ! And so personal. Our guide Mario gave us so much time and attn to our day that we loved every second there. Can't recommend the wine and the staff more !!!! 10000/10
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
During our week of wine tasting, this one was a definite standout. We consistently enjoyed every wine that was poured, and Bradley, our host, was extremely attentive. It was nice to have some personal touches, welcoming us for our 5th anniversary. Bradley made the whole experience fun, chatting with us, walking us around the property, even letting us sample some loquats off their fruit trees. We became members - we really like that you can customize not just your first allotment, but every time a shipment comes. We also really appreciate the company's philosophy- while technically not a non-profit, the winery donates their profits to fund the study of cardiovascular disease. Well worth your time to visit!
google avatar

Jen H.

Yelp
Beautiful building. We had the reservation and unfortunately this place fell into the category I'd time wasted. The staffing didn't seem genuine to talking us through the wines and giving us some history of the winery. The wine is very nice, but the whole package isn't there. Disappointed.
google avatar

Stacy S.

Yelp
Great visit to Ehlers on a Saturday afternoon. We were served by Bradley who is a total 5 all on his own. He's charming and knowledgable about wines in general and about Ehlers specifically. We called to get in on a moments notice - were initially declined - but with a little begging - we were told we could come by. Turns out they have some strict daily serving maximums and once they explained that it felt better. We sat outside near the Bocce courts in a gorgeous setting - with a great view of the main tasting room which was originally built in the 1800s. The wine is very good and we walked away with some delightful cabs. Very much recommend this stop on your wine country visit. It's a gem. Tip: Ehlers has a unique story and has a deep association with a non-profit focused on heart disease - be sure to ask them about it - it's very compelling!

Yelp
Amazing place! Serene & beautiful with exceptional customer service! Matt was our host. Very knowledgeable & friendly. We've been wine club members of several wineries in the past but still learned from him. Our son is autistic & in the middle of our private tasting, he had a meltdown. Not only did he understand, he didn't make us feel bad about it. Quite to the contrary, he was extremely patient. If I only visit one winery upon my return to Napa, it will be this winery. Not just for the quality of the wines but for the exceptional customer service. As a parent or a special needs child, I often feel judged & won't go places for fear of judgement. None of that happened here. Instead, they made our visit very memorable! To top it off, they remembered our anniversary & it recognized it during our tasting! 5 stars to this winery! Very impressed!

Yelp
We stopped into this winery on a Friday a couple weeks ago and has an amazing experience! Bradley was our host and he was fabulous. I loved his energy and his knowledge about Ehlers. All of the wine we tasted was delicious and we were pleased to hear that it was all organic. They also donate 100% of all sales to cardiovascular research. We thought that was really neat. Overall, I loved the ambiance of the winery and it felt super cozy. It was comfortable getting to taste on the couch vs. standing at a counter. They also have some amazing views outside! I was very impressed with this place and we will definitely be back

Yelp
This was our second stop on our first wine tasting experience and Ehlers was by far our favorite wines. I don't particularly like wine by my husband does. I was able to find three I was pleased with. I was very surprised. I enjoyed all of their 2012's apparently this was a very good year for grapes. When we arrived our chauffeur introduced us and they brought us to our table with a Happy Birthday sign for my husband :) our server sat down with us and talked about each wine and we got to know him as well. He was very easy to talk to and was a great host. I felt he was knowledgeable and sincere. I loved how he paired every glass with a meal suggestion. We left buying 8 bottles and they comped our tasting :) My husband said the wine reminded him of how good the wine he had in Italy was. We will be back.

Great cabernet sauvignon. It was a nice tasting, but I just thought it was okay and nothing more.

Yelp
This was absolutely one of the highlights of our Napa trip this year. Bradley took excellent care of us, he was so friendly and personable and we just loved getting to learn a little bit about the wines and the history from him. We were here for an 11A tasting on a Saturday and the building was full of the most beautiful light as well as charming (constantly-changing) artwork for sale. The wines are wonderful, the building itself is one of the oldest in the valley, and the staff are all cheerful and pleasant - but absolutely ask for Bradley if you can. We learned about the microclimate of the vineyard, sitting at one of the lowest points in the Valley, and we learned about the history of the vineyard from the mid-1800s, all the way through to 2008 when the vineyard was awarded the coveted and hard-won Organic certification. The wines were all wonderful, but my favorites, no surprise, were the 1886 Cab Sav and the Leducq Cab Sav. They were kind enough to offer an extra pour of our favorite, so I did the 1886 a second time. The Petit Verdot was also outstanding - though there is only one acre of those grapes available! We enjoyed our visit so much, we even bought a wine-transporter to take our wines home with us as checked baggage on the plane. This is definitely one of the nicest and least expensive wine transporters I've seen. Since the winery operates as a non-profit with all proceeds going to charity, their merch doesn't seem nearly as marked up as I've seen in other places. We would absolutely come back here - maybe for the 9:30 appointment sometime to really get the day started right!

Yelp
Perhaps the wines were good during other years, but I was unimpressed and left broke and sober at the end of this 5-splash $25 wine tasting. AMBIANCE: they have nice tables and seats and do individual group pourings, but I think this is quite a common feature amongst the Napa Sonoma wineries. I personally don't require fancy ambiance and thought the tasting lasted too long. SERVICE: the woman who helped us was very nice but poured tiny (1 ounce.. if that!) pours. She splashed the remaining ounce all over the tables. WINE: Ranges from $28-100+, and really, was not that good... Should've saved our money and bought a bottle to split. They are a small winery producing all organic wines where all profits go to the owner's charity. It's a really sweet idea, but when I come wine tasting the bio-sustainability-organic-hippy stuff doesn't really matter to me. I'm more about quality and quantity, but that's just me :)

Yelp
THE MOST RUDEST PEOPLE EVER! The place was not full at all, matter of fact, there were a total of 3 parties there. One had 6, which had 1 host tending to them, we had 5 people, but only two were tasting, with 1 host, and a couple at the bar, with their own host. Mind you , that left 2 other people free and clear. So, one would figure, just figure that perhaps my parents could get their wine tasting done in half an hour. NOPE! This couple that exited from a Mercedes that had their own driver came in, and there went our host. She entertained them, laughed, and FORGOT ALL ABOUT US. 3 tastings took 40 damn minutes. There was one left, but we decided to just leave. they weren't worth our time. HIGHLY SUGGEST FOR YOU TO NOT GO HERE!! HIGHLY, HIGHLY SUGGEST A BIG FAT ENN OH! (NO). Well, unless you like to be treated rudely and like to waste your time.

Yelp
Great wine, 1886 is definitely a great wine. The first time we (me & my wife) were there, a gent named Kyle (i'm not too sure) took good care of us (he is the shorter hair blonde guy with glasses). We were so happy that we signed up for their wine club. We just went to their release party and we bought 6 bottles of 2009 J. Leducq Cabernet 100% Cab (only available during that time). The wine is so balanced for such a young wine. I wish I have bigger wine coolers. However, there is another gent, I think he is Italian and apparently he likes other people's girls (mentioned by some reviewers) and older women. That guy was kind of looking down on us and gave us the "look", perhaps because we were the only Asian there. The first time I was there, I remembered he talked to us like we are just numbers, like Ehler is the only winery in Napa Valley. I will be glad to move my membership to some other wineries if this happens next time.

Yelp
I had my first taste of Ehlers Merlot At Twisted Vine in Fullerton and fell in love. As my husband and I drove down hwy 29 visiting various wineries we saw Ehlers and had to make a stop. My husband and I stepped into their tasting room and was greeted by thier friendly staff behind the counter. She asked if we had an appointment and we told her we no. They were closing up in half an hour by the time we stepped in but was very accommodating and instead of turning us away, she squeezed us in for a tasting. We walked out with 6 bottles and were both happy campers. I'm hoping to come back sometime this year again to tour the winery, now that I know where it's located.

Yelp
Came here based on a recommendation from a friend. Bernard was our "wine host" for the day and the experience was much different than the big vineyard/wineries in the area- he sat down with us on the couches, chit chatted with us like we were old friends and he told us about the wine in between conversation. The wine was so delicious that we not only bought a bottle on our way out, but we came back and picked up more later in the day. Highly recommended. Also, they have a nice outdoor picnic area that pairs great with prosciutto, cheese, and a baguette. :)

Yelp
It pains me to write this. I have been loyal to Ehlers as a wine club member for several years and have recommended them to many people. Something has changed there, and it's not good. They have either gotten big enough that they don't really care about customer service or they just simply can't be bothered. A group of friends and I are headed out to the area in October. I called at the beginning of September as a wine club member and asked for a reservation for a tasting. I was called back and told that they couldn't accommodate my party as it would take up "too much of the tasting room". I called to clarify and ask why, if we were paying members and they take reservations, they couldn't accommodate. No one ever called back. I totally understand if you can't accommodate, but you can't even call back? Want more proof? I then called to cancel my wine membership - they didn't even call back - just sent an email indicating it was cancelled. I can see they were concerned. With so many choices and wineries who actually care for members outside of special events and when it suits them, it's sadly no longer the first place I want to visit when I return to Napa Valley.

Yelp
Ehlers Estate Wine is wine that's good for your heart-in more ways than one. Drinking red wine in moderation (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) has heart health benefits and can lower the risk of heart disease. In addition to the known health benefits of drinking red wine, one hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of Ehlers Estate Wines go to support the Leducq Foundation, a highly regarded, not-for-profit foundation dedicated to funding international cardiovascular research. Cheers to a healthy heart! http://www.ehlersestate.com http://www.fondationleducq.org/ http://www.healthcastle.com/redwine-heart.shtml http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/21478144/ns/today-today_health/#ixzz0n4RlqltJ

Yelp
We did the start your morning tasting yesterday at Ehlers and had a great experience - absolutely beautiful tasting room in a building from 1886, wonderful wine guide, nice, short tour and a delicious tasting that also included Bouchon Bakery croissants and dark chocolate to pair with our wines. The Merlot and 1886 Cabernet were our definite favorites and we took a few home with us for enjoy and relive our fantastic visit!

Yelp
We had the pleasure of visiting Ehlers Estate Winery on Saturday, 4/28. There was a bit of a mix up on our tasting reservation but luckily we called and they accommodated our party. We had the pleasure of working with Marcela (national sales) who is very passionate about her job and the great wines at Ehlers Estate. There is a great story with this winery so when you visit be sure to ask about it. The old stone barn is amazing and next time we hope to have time to explore the property. The wines were exceptional and they experience is worth trying. This is a must visit winery!

Yelp
I had some friends visiting from Australia and NYC and since we had a party of 8 we decided to be smart and hire Platypus to drive us around. The driver Mark suggested we divert from our list of wineries and visit Ehlers and Im so glad he did! As a local, its easy to get in a rut and just keep visiting your favorites over and over and it was fun to try something new. The Ehlers charming stone tasting room is beautifully decorated. They had an amazing man playing a guitar - on a Tuesday! The tasting room manager Kevin took excellent care of us. He was informative, funny and cool...not just running through the sales pitch like at some wineries. The wine was delicious and unique. I can't wait to go back!
