Katy Asian Town Development Will Soon Be Home to Japanese-Style Crepes - Eater Houston

"Eight Turn Crepe, a new destination for a Japanese take on this classic French dessert, will open in Katy this spring. Owner Huylong Nguyen tells Eater that he’ll open the first Texas location of Eight Turn Crepe at 23119 Colonial Parkway in the Katy Asian Town development. The shop’s space is currently under construction, and work is expected to be completed sometime in December. After that, Nguyen expects that it will take about three months to get Eight Turn Crepe’s Houston location up and running. Currently open in Brooklyn, Eight Turn Crepe comes from Harajuku, Japan, and makes each crepe to order. Both savory and sweet options are on offer, and freshly-made crepes can be stuffed with everything from ice cream and fruit to flower petals and ham and cheese. Each crepe is rolled and served in a cone, which makes it easier to consume the bounty of fillings tucked inside. Gluten-avoidant diners will also be able to partake in these crepes, as they’re made from gluten-free rice flour. When this new sweet shop makes its debut, it will join an exciting lineup of forthcoming eateries at Katy Asian Town, including locations of Houston Sichuan favorite Mala Sichuan Bistro and Japanese cream puff chain Beard Papa’s. Eight Turn Crepe is currently projected to arrive in March or April. Stay tuned for more details on its arrival. Update 10/26/18, 9:53 a.m.: This post has been updated to reflect a location of Katy Asian Town rather than the previously announced Katy Grand." - Amy McCarthy

Perfect crepes. We chose savoy- lox and pork belly. The lox was very light in flavor. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. Pure delight- this food made me happy.

This was our first time at Manna Crepe and It was delicious.😋 They have so many options. I built my own crepe with strawberry, banana, Nutella, whip, peanuts and mochi. I honestly thought it was going to be too sweet but oh my... it was the perfect blend. I recommend this place 100%.

Google
Have been twice now to Manna Crepe and both times the food was excellent. The fruit was fresh and delicious in both crepes and the service is kind and fast. I also love that they use rice flour to make their crepes so they are gluten free!

Google
Atmosphere is great with plenty of seating. Service was very good and fast. I ordered strawberry banana crepe. It was very delicious. I will be back to try more crepes.

Google
I visited Manna Crepe again last week after a long time, and the Strawberry Banana is still my favorite! The place is clean, cozy, and the service was excellent. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to 👍🏻

Google
Very busy so expect long waits. Order at the machine but had to figure that out by myself because staff didn’t bother to give instructions. Got the lychee crepe and creme brûlée crepe. They were on the sweeter side, taste was okay. Tables were dirty.

Google
Very tasty, I got the BLT crepe number 6 and we also got the Philly cheesesteak crepe, the #6 was great however there wasn't much steak filling on the cheesesteak crepe, it was delicious we just wish there was more filling. Also the hazelnut coffee hot is very tasty. Definitely recommend to try this.

Food - 10/10 sweet is delicious and savory is delicious. Service - Average. Nothing crazy and nothing spectacular! Place - nice and clean

Yelp
I was walking around the plaza when I wanted a snack with my boyfriend and so I went to Eight Turn crepe. I've heard of this place before but never stopped by and I'm so glad I did! When you enter, they don't have counter service- there's 2 kiosk in the back of the shop to order what you'd like which isn't too bad but I personally enjoy the in-person interaction. They had 3-4 people making crepes in the window so you can watch them bake and fill the crepes as the orders come in! I ordered a strawberry and banana crepe with some chocolate which was delicious! The crepe was very light and airy, and filled with so much cream it was spilling out. I definitely want to come back to try their savory crepes and other sweet ones. The price is not bad for what you get and I'd say after you order, it takes about 10 minutes to get your food only because it is coming out fresh. If you don't like to wait- then I would recommend coming at a non-busy time.

Yelp
Crepes are amazing here, staffs super friendly. My go to savory is egg ham and cheese . My sweet tooth will be the blueberry cheesecake New York style . So yummy.

Yelp
Got in just before they closed. Service was nice and friendly. The food we ordered was warm and tasty. Great flavors in the items we ordered.

Yelp
Oh, buckle up, taste adventurers, because Eight Turn Crepes just took my palate on a joyride that I didn't want to end! If you're in the mood for a culinary experience that's a perfect fusion of art and flavor, this is your gastronomic haven. From the moment you step in, the aroma of freshly made crepes envelops you like a warm, delicious hug. The ambiance is a delightful mix of cozy and contemporary, setting the stage for the foodie journey that awaits. Let's talk crepes. No, scratch that - let's talk about the magic that happens when batter meets griddle at Eight Turn Crepes. These aren't your run-of-the-mill crepes; they're culinary canvases waiting to be adorned with an array of mouthwatering fillings. Sweet or savory, the options are a tantalizing playground for your taste buds. I had the Tokyo Pork Belly which is a savory delight! Tender pork belly meets the perfect crepe, creating a flavor explosion. The blend of Japanese-inspired ingredients harmonizes beautifully, delivering a satisfying umami kick. It's a culinary journey that transports taste buds to Tokyo in every delicious bite. Pure crepe perfection! Beyond the crepes, Eight Turn Crepes offers an impressive lineup of beverages. The Matcha Latte was a velvety green elixir that transported me to a tranquil tea garden, and I've heard the Mocha Espresso is a bold, caffeinated companion to your crepe escapade. Service? Impeccable. The staff at Eight Turn Crepes not only crafts these edible works of art with precision but does so with a genuine enthusiasm that adds an extra layer of delight to the dining experience. In the grand symphony of culinary adventures, Eight Turn Crepes is a virtuoso, hitting all the right notes. If you're ready for a taste journey that transcends the ordinary, make your way to Eight Turn Crepes - where every crepe tells a delicious story. Your taste buds will thank you, and you'll leave with a newfound appreciation for the artistry of crepe-making. Cheers to gastronomic bliss! As always ... STAY FED MY FRIENDS!

Yelp
Adorable atmosphere! Everyone needs unicorn flakes to end a weird week yes?! So hey I am down with trying new so here we go Yelpies!!! I walked in to this adorable place needing a sugar fix. The service was fantastic, ice cream delicious! Unfortunately I am no longer in Texas or a Yelp elite after four great years so all reviews will be 4 or below.

Yelp
Stopped by here because we were craving dessert and it looked good! Got the matcha chocolate crepe with mango gelato on the side! The chocolate just melts in your mouth and the crepe is delightfully warm. Definitely a great dessert after having a meal in Katy Asian Town.

Yelp
We love this place!! The vanilla latte is my favorite - best in town! And the crepes are so fresh!! Amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
You get what you see from the window display. If I was craving a crepe, I would come back. Plenty of seats. Good customer service. Efficient system.
google avatar

Yelp
Manager/owner instruct their employees to put down-low ingredients instead as shown in the picture s of the menu. What is given in ingredients is much less than shown in the menu pictures so too expensive $$$$$ for what is given. It is not employees fault, it is manager/owner

Yelp
Sweet and exotic Those two words best describes what you will find at 8 Turn Crepe. We often visit Eight Turn as a dessert stop whether dining in the area or just feeling the mode for a treat. The crepe are vey flavorful and can be shared between 2 or 3 people, not that we do that! No, my family is greedy and we each get our own, lol
google avatar

Rose N.

Yelp
The creme brûlée crepe! Ooooo baby. Creme brûlée and strawberries in a crepe. Sold!! Service was prompt and very clean inside of the store. Crows of course are made to order and can be viewed from the other size of the sneeze guard. Can't wait to take friends here.

Yelp
So glad I didn't eat lunch before I came here because I usually do I always want to hit this place. I came here a while back and I remember it being very good but I was so excited to eat this delicious treat that I made a mess this time I was well let's say more prepared. I did the create your own bananas, strawberries, whip cream, custard, almonds, hazelnut chocolate sauce, with chocolate truffles. Very inexpensive and worth the little wait.

Yelp
Me and my husband have been wanting to try this place for a long time! We came here on a Sunday and ordered New York cheesecake with blueberries and Philly Cheesesteak. The flavors were just ok but both crepes were very very soggy! I felt like the regular crepes station on the street is way better than this! I gave it one star because the texture of the crepe is very disappointing and it was very expensive. We ordered 2 crepes and a drink and the total came to $30 and we didn't even finish it. It's just a waste of money and calories.. :/
google avatar

Zahraa Y.

Yelp
This place is very chill and nice to go to me and my friend really enjoyed both of the flavors and the presentation of them was so pretty and appetizing. The service also was good they were very patient and pleasant.

Yelp
Chicken Thai $8.95 - savory crepe. you can get it mild or spicy, I got spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all? Very tasty, slightly sweet. Not too filling or heavy. Could've used more chicken but reasonable portion for the price. (Sweet Paris is $10-11 for savory crepes but bigger). The crepe was too soft, it needed to be a little bit crispier. It was kind of hard to eat without making a mess. Definitely can't eat while driving I'm more of a dessert person so maybe I'll try a sweet crepe if I ever return
google avatar

Yelp
I love me so crepes! This place is the bomb.com!!!! The staff is nice and you can sample some gelato if you want to! Very spacious and beautiful place. Loved the options that they had to offer. I ordered the matcha with strawberry & brownie and vanilla Icecream. It was the prefect texture but also very messy to eat so just ask for a plastic plate so you can spread it out and eat it. We also ordered a fruity crepe with chocolate icecream. Each crepe was about $10 each!! But definitely worth the price for how big it is and how great it is!

Yelp
I got the Tokyo Pork Belly and Azuki Berries to try for my first time here. Definitely wouldn't recommend getting both savory and sweet, because I left with my stomach feeling like it'd burst. I didn't see nor taste any kimchi in my TPB crepe, which is a bummer bc that was one of the main reasons why I'd ordered it. I think they ran out because instead, I had eggs in mine. Either way, would have appreciated if they had let me know ahead of time. They've also put in nước tương (vietnamese soybean sauce) instead of Japanese mayo...which I didn't think went too well with the meat and plus it kept dripping out of the crepe. The pork belly was delicious though. Azuki Berries crepe was great. I really enjoyed the matcha gelato. It wasn't too sweet or had a bitter aftertaste. Price definitely went up, because the receipt came out different from what the paper menu and digital menu lists. Don't know if I'd come back because the price is a bit high for my liking, but overall I did enjoy the food.
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
So many options! You can choose from savory to sweet, or create your own. They also serve gelato. The crepe brûlée was phenomenal! I also ordered the mango and matcha gelato. The mango was bursting with flavor. It wasn't as creamy as the matcha, in my opinion. Almost like a sorbet. Everything was delicious and made to order. The cafe was relaxed and inviting. Perfect treat after eating lunch in the Promenade!

Yelp
The place is also new in this Colonial Park Area for me. So we try it just for kicks The atmosphere is very noisy very loud with the music and the customer are very very loud. Not a comfortable place to enjoy the food or dessert in our case. Do not order the Vietnamese iced coffee unless you want to wait for awhile. The crepés are the main topic of the menu and it is something new maybe to try. But will not return due to the atmosphere and the food taste.
google avatar

James Z.

Yelp
I've had crepes several places and Eight Turn is on par. We get them every now and then, but mostly drop in for the gelato, which is also very average. Nothing stands out as being super spectacular, but I have enjoyed everything that I've tried.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty disappointed since the Yelp's rating is so high. The ventilation and a/c were horrendous. It was so smelly and hot even though the weather outside was cool down around 56 degree. The a/c was on/off for few minutes. Lack of air. The crepe was plain normal kind of crepe. Nothing special or wow. It was nice to try but not worth returning.
google avatar

Yelp
BEST creme brulee sweet crepe!! They offer so many types of crepes ranging from sweet, savory, to build your own. I think they also offer a limited drink menu too but honestly, I was a little overwhelmed with the crepe menu. So, my eyes didn't make it all the way to the drink menu. The creme brulee was delicious! The only thing is, I wish the crepe was cooked a little longer, a little more crispy. They're priced a little high for a crepe but still good. No pictures of the crepe itself because I devoured it within a blink of an eye.

Yelp
I came by here for some dessert after lunch around 12pm on a Tuesday and it turned out to be a good idea! Inside the store looks clean and has a decent amount of seatings. It's also very clean and neat inside which is a major plus for me. They have a cute "eight turn crepe" wall for pictures. This place serves both sweet and savory crepes as well as coffee, gelato, and smoothies! I've ordered the harajuku fruit cocktail which consists of strawberry, banana, raspberry, blueberry, mango, custard cream, and whipped yogurt n almonds. This place showcases their crepe products in a "cone" form which is pretty different. It's a cool place to stop by if you like good food pictures/grab desserts w some friends.

Yelp
This is a very cute restaurant with a trendy vibe. I associate crêpes with dessert, but Eight Turn Crêpe is thinking outside the box with their breakfast and savory menu items. I was in the mood for something sweet so I ordered the chocolate nut party crêpe. While visually appealing, the flavor was lackluster. I appreciated how thin the crêpe itself was. Unfortunately, I believe the dessert could've been easily replicated at home. The ingredients weren't necessarily restaurant quality and for $11, I expected something less mundane. I have hope in Eight Turn Crêpe since they are located in a great spot and have a hip interior.

Yelp
Came here for dessert since crepe is my favorite. The store is nice and crepe is good. I had it to go and realized that it was quite messy to eat crepe that way. The store wasn't crowded but the service was a bit too slow even though they had 3 people behind the counter.
google avatar

Yuri L.

Yelp
Employees are rude but the crepes are good. The place is run by teenagers that don't clean anything. My wife was given a dirty look when she asked someone to clean a table.
google avatar

Jill R.

Yelp
We went here for dessert after trying a couple of other places for dinner. So yummy! Since I was sharing with my sister, we went for a waffle so it would be easier to share. It did not disappoint! The waffle was so light and crispy and was a great contrast to the sweet and cold toppings. I would absolutely eat this again.

Yelp
Painful to have to write this review. I recommended this to my family because of a craving for some crepes. Upon our arrival, we were able to order very quickly. One thing to note was that each our orders came out one by one, or two by two with 5 to 10 min discrepancy (party of 5). Now I know this is a cafe eatery so I didn't mind. My father in law never received his order and after noticing other parties beginning to get their order, I asked about his. Found out his order was missed. Again, I understood and placed his order after learning this. Well again, noticed others were getting their orders, and we still haven't received his. I went to the cashier and gave them my order number. She went to the back behind the curtains and brings out and order (confusing because the cook the food in front of you near the register) for her to say somebody threw away the order receipt. After asking for fresh food because I felt we deserved as warm as food as any other patron, she had an attitude and made an under breath comment. Summary Great food... if you don't mind waiting hours I suppose.

Yelp
The best crepe in katy love both their savory and sweet option. My favorite is tokyo pork belly and chicken Thai

Yelp
Delicious crapes. The place is cute if anyone looking to take pictures while inside. The restaurant was clean and the girls upfront didn't mind me taking my time while choosing my crape Definitely going back!
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Came again as part of a group. Again my opinion is that this is very overpriced, tryhard aesthetic food. $9 for a small crepe with some fruit and a ton of nutella can fool these tiktok children but should come off as a bit overrated for most. The taste is fine, again it's cream and Nutella so if you like that flavor profile, this will be tasty.
google avatar

Tan N.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and dessert! We had 6 crepes in one sitting . I was a little hesitant at first because they are rolled up so I thought they would be flimsy with the fillings but boy was I wrong! They are stuffed pretty damn well!! My only issue was the packaging. It's nice little perforated edges makes it easy to eat on the go. But it is still a crepe haha so it can get messy. But very delicious combos. We had the. Tokyo Porto belly crepe ( added scrambled egg) 5/5 it was super good The Thai chicken (3.5/5) a little on the salty side And the harajuku fruit cocktail 5/5 (added matcha gelato, recommend if you like matcha) Definitely will come back! Prices are about same as you get as other places but they had unique flavor combinations and pretty high quality ingredients.
google avatar

Yelp
I have this location 3 stars. I am going to try it again, the reason behind the review: I ordered the Crepe Brûlée it taste more like packaged banana pudding you eat from elementary school...Gross. I met a lady who frequents weekly but recommended the Thai crepe. I'll try that one next time.
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Last weekend we tried several dishes at eight turn crepe. I thought the ambiance and decor were really nice. They had a lot of staff working who looked seriously busy the whole time we were there. It looked fairly obvious the staff took great care with the preparation of everyone's crepes. We ordered a couple of crepes plus a couple of gelatos. Well worth visiting and dining here. We will be returning again.
google avatar

Jenn D.

Yelp
First time here, I was trying to see how they make your crepe and this lady just aggressively asked me if she can help me with anything. I said no, I'm just watching you and said if that's okay. Lol! This lady choose violence for nothing. Lmaooo!
google avatar

Samah K.

Yelp
Saw this place on TikTok and decided to come try it for dessert. I got the 'Design Your Own Crepe" and got strawberry + banana with Nutella, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. The crepe came out pretty fast, but much was left to be desired in terms of taste. The crepe itself was cold and soggy. I did not enjoy eating it at all. Also, the way they serve their crepe allows for a great mess to be made. Wish they gave an extra plate or something along those lines with each crepe. Probably won't be back here again.
google avatar

Sasha G.

Yelp
Deeelicious !!!! Cute little dessert place. Clean and well kept. In the corner of huge Asian shopping center. You can eat then come hit up this place for dessert. Like their sweet and savory choices. Or you can make your own. It's just enough dessert for one person but can be shared. I got the crepe brulee worried it would be overwhelmingly sweet but surprisingly it wasn't. I ate every bite. Loved the cool brulee custard and the soft warm crepe wrapped around. I definitely will come back and try the other kinds.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here on a Sat afternoon and had the crepe with matcha, sweet cream, strawberries, ice cream, and pocky sticks. It's a big portion size, so I had to take some to-go (warning - it's not nearly as good 1-2 days later...). I thought the service was on the slow side, but it was still acceptable. Ambiance is casual and low-key. Overall, it's a unique way to eat crepes and I enjoyed the experience!
google avatar

Sophia S.

Yelp
A nice stop for fancy sweet and savory crepes with the option to design your own. Rather than accidentally creating subpar crepes, we decided to go with preset options - classic Strawberry Nutella and Matcha Stripe Truffles. Both were really nice! The outer crepe had a nice chewiness, and the filling was tasteful without being overly sweet. Nothing mindblowing per se, but also nothing to complain about. I would avoid weekend nights though, our crepes took foreverrrr to come out.
google avatar

Mimi W.

Yelp
I love this place! There are so many other dessert places to eat near by but this one is pretty and very tasty. The first time I went, I had the #15 (which is one of the two they recommend for first timers.) They second time I went, I brought a friend and she had #15 and I leaped to a #20. They have a gluten free crepe, which is offered on two of the desserts and I am sure they will swap it out to any crepe. They always come out pretty and they always tell you how to eat it. It doesn't matter if you're hungry or full, you're going to eat it all. I've come to terms with it, you should too.
google avatar

Mai C.

Yelp
I like the food here - Crepes desserts were sooo good. I haven't tried the other ones with food but definitely recommend for desserts
google avatar

Dana H.

Yelp
I prefer my crepes to be warm and these were cold, but it was still very good. I had the strawberry banana (minus the banana). It was full of ingredients from top to bottom. Employees were very nice. Self ordering and checkout was seamless.
google avatar

Eliza L.

Yelp
Eight Turn Crepe @ (Katy Asian Town) Katy, TX. I order design your own crepe. Banana, Strawberry, Nutella, Whipped Cream, Drizzle Chocolate, & Poke Chocolate Stick $7.99. Kids love it. They roll this crepe into a cone. This is hard to share with others, especially for kids. Pretty much made for 1 person to enjoy.
google avatar

Shantel K.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing, we have ordered here several times and each time the food has been great My favorite is the Nutella crepe, I get mine with extra strawberries, we have also had the blueberry cheese cake and the tiramisu which is just incredible. They each come individually wrapped, are filled will all the sweet goodness you could want. Definitely will be a repeat customer
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
Crepes were delicious. Lots of sweet and savory options. Presentation is great as well. They're rolled into a cone like shape so they're easy to hold. I got the BLT and friend got the Berries N crepe. I also had a Nutella latte that was smooth as butter and not too sweet. Would've given 5 stars but the lady behind the counter was rude and not helpful and had a bad attitude and acted as if we inconvenienced her when we asked questions about menu options. Her attitude actually dampened the vibe in the place...enough for me to not return.

Nathan M.

Yelp
The crepes here are amazing! I had the crème brûlée and it was perfect! Great dining area and great staff.

Yelp
I went here on April 1st (2019) for a YEE and I have been telling my husband about how yummy everything is here. I wanted to bring him here to try the gelato. He love mangos so I thought for sure he would get the mango gelato. He surprised me and got the matcha gelato instead. I had the mango ()last time so I tried the honeycomb this time. I really enjoyed mine. It had a little sweet flavor but not a super sweet taste that lingers in your mouth. It was a prefect blend of both sweet and creamy. My husband's matcha was very tasty as well. It had a nice smooth taste to it. We were both very happy with our choices. My husband and I will definitely be back. Next time we are going to try a sweet crepe. I already had the BLT and thought it was SO GOOD!!!! It was great to see Jennifer and Long again! Keep up the excellent work!!! You are one of my favorite places.

Yelp
Sweet and savory crepes in Katy Asia Town?! I knew I had to try this place out soon! Coming here on a Saturday evening, this place gets crowded! But despite the crowd, the wait for our crepe wasn't very long so they seem to have their system working pretty well between all of their employees. After taking sometime to read their whole menu, we decided to try their LYCHEE VALENTINE crepe. I was sold when I read it had a rose custard cream filling! This japanese style crepe was light airy, and full of tasty toppings. The lychee valentine consisted of raspberries, lychee, and the rich rose custard cream. This combination was light, sweet, yet not overwhelming. We had previously eaten dinner before coming here so we didn't try any of their savory crepes, but I'll definitely be back again to try more of their menu!

Yelp
Horrible horrible service... Went to this place after church on Sunday around 12:30 for the first time to try it out and we were highly disappointed. We ordered our food and not only was the wait very long even though there were not a lot of customers in the place but the employees behind the counter actually did give a damn. Their attitudes showed. Finally when our food came they forgot my husband's food, they acted like it was nothing and admitted to not having it on the order meaning after we ordered it the girl at the register did not take the correct order. They remade his food as we continued to wait but again they dropped the ball by leaving it sitting on the counter claiming the ticket was lost so instead of seeking who the food belonged to or asking they just left it to get cold. We requested another and as the time went on an hour and a half later we waited....after almost 2 hours and us finishing eating my husband still waiting it was disastrous.... Needless to say we will never visit this place again and will advise others to venture elsewhere for better customer service....
