11 Best Ice Cream Shops In Atlanta

"When we want vegan ice cream, Eighty7Sweets is our go-to spot for its creamy, coconut-based frozen treats. This tiny Downtown Atlanta shop has flavors named after local neighborhoods and colleges, like smooth Morehouse Chocolate or rich Caramel Cobb. Try Vanilla Vinings with a matcha cone for earthy sweetness. If you try the delicious Wakanda (their black mystery flavor), expect a guessing game about its almond-y sweet secret. Just know you’’ll keep coming back to figure it out." - jacinta howard

Eighty7Sweets Vegan Ice Cream Company - Review - Downtown Atlanta - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Nobody's claiming that vegan ice cream tastes exactly like dairy ice cream. But at Eighty7Sweets, the coconut-based ice cream is creamy and sweet enough to make you not care about the difference. The downtown shop is teeny tiny, so if you roll in with your crew, be ready to take turns squeezing inside to order. Flavors are named after Atlanta neighborhoods and colleges, like the smooth Morehouse Chocolate or rich Caramel Cobb. Get Vanilla Vinings with a matcha cone for a hint of earthy sweetness. Kids will get a kick out of the delicious Wakanda (their black mystery flavor), and don’t expect more than a sly smile and a guessing game when you ask what's in it. Just know you’ll be back to try to guess the almond-y sweet secret." - Jacinta Howard

Google
Service was genuine, kind, helpful and explanatory. The ice cream was phenomenal not like anything we have had before. I got the mocha ice cream and my husband got the peanut butter milkshake. All the ice cream is coconut milk based FYI. Does not taste like coconut tho! We will drive an hour to come here again.

Google
We had such a great experience at this vegan ice cream spot! The service was truly wonderful, only one client/family at the time which is very different from other places. K-P took the time to explain how the ice creams are made and gave us samples so we could find our perfect flavour. It felt really welcoming, and you could tell there’s a lot of care behind everything they do. The ice cream was absolutely delicious we took the cookie bowl with Wakanda and Moka’s flavour! The whole experience was 100% worth it. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you K-P

Google
Traveled from Buford to try this vegan ice cream and I was BLOWN AWAY. From the aesthetics, to the service, to the taste of the ice cream and cookie bowls, to the prices, I was in Heaven. Butter pecan and Wakanda were my fave! Great Black owned Business

Google
Just tried it this past Sunday! Omg!!! It was the best experience ever! The strawberry mango was a hit! Actually—— everything I tasted (4 flavors) was a hit! Not to mention the vegan vanilla wafer was Everything! Absolutely delicious! My husband and I will be back! Definitely!

Google
I got the Oreo & Mocha, it was really delicious! I loveddd the few options they have to offer. A good variety and KP was really dope. She lets you taste test a couple of the options if in doubt. Everything was a 1000/10! Must come and check it out! 🙏🏽

Google
This place is phenomenal, masters of the vegan milkshake. Had the Oreo, Caramel Salted Pretzel and Peanut Butter one—all equally delicious. I love how small the place is, only one customer in the shop at a time. The place next door is a unique space to sit and enjoy your icecream.

Google
Wonderful ice cream shop tucked away between buildings in down town ATL. Not far from 5 points Marta station and Woodruff park. Street parking available but it’s best to walk or ride bicycle there like I did. The flavors are delicious and creative. House made waffle bowls. They have a few bistro style tables & chairs out front if you wanted to sit and enjoy your cool treats!

Google
I was casually walking downtown Atlanta and happened to check out this hidden gem. I sampled the “Wakanda Black Mystery Flavor” and “Mocha”. I can say the Mystery Flavor is 10/10. I was serviced by the lovely KP and my experience was phenomenal! Check them out if you like Vegan Friendly Ice-Cream

Yelp
small counter where you order one party at a time, very covid conscious. first thing i noticed was the fun ice cream names on the menu. we were allll wondering about the morehouse chocolate. we really enjoyed our conversation with KP and guessing the mystery flavor ice cream (grey/black). our fav flavor was butter pecan. so happy for atlanta that we have a solid local black owned vegan ice cream spot. next time i wanna try a float or milk shake! some of the ice cream flavors i wish were more creamy textured. i also hope they will have some future ice creams that are not coconut based!

Yelp
First time visiting a vegan ice cream parlor and it was delightful. Service was great with the close intimate space as the space is very small. There was 1 table with 4 seats outside of the building. I had the vanilla and the wakanda (black mystery), and would recommend it! Both were delicious. I couldn't eat half of the cookie bowl but it had great coconut flavor with a light chocolate chip cookie flavor. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Since I was staying nearby, I decided to try this vegan ice cream spot. The ice cream here is all coconut milk based. It's a small space where you just go up to order but there are some chairs and tables set up outside. The ice scooper helping was super friendly and even gave us Atlanta recommendations. I got two scoops which came out to be just under $8. Spelman strawberry & mango - more icey than creamy with chunks of mango. The strawberry flavor was subtle and I wish the flavor came through more. The flavor was very refreshing! West end wakanda - super creamy! It's a vanilla based ice cream with charcoal and a little bit of salt. I highly recommend this flavor!

Yelp
87 Sweets is the kind of business that exists down the Yellow Brick Road. It is 1) a dairy-free, nut-free creamery 2) offers gluten-free cones and toppings 3) is African-American owned. It's a trifecta of goodness!! There's your sparkly unicorn! I've been to this spot twice. Found 'em by google-hunt for "non-dairy ice cream shop" and voila! Grabbed a friend for this adventure and tried the Buckhead Mocha in a gf cone -- dee-licious! Made a return trip for a Spelman Strawberry/Mango milkshake with gf cookie toppings and my friend had a Morehouse chocolate milkshake. We both got lifted, I'm telling you! Go get yours.
google avatar

Lavinna K.

Yelp
Wait what!! Vegan ice cream that's coconut based. This place was so good we had to go back the next day!! We got butter pecan, west end wakanda buckhead mocha and Edgewood cookies and cream. My hubby got the graham cracker bowl. We decided it was not worth the $3. The Next visit we just got the ice cream in bowls. The service was good..we were told we could try two flavors. Not sure if that literally meant you can only try two but that's how I took it. I'll try another two when we go back. It's a small spot but we were told there's some seating somewhere.

Yelp
I love this tiny ice cream place. There was no one here when we came. We ordered ice cream in a cookie bowl. The owner said she had a batch but it just came out of oven so we need to wait a few mins until it cool down. She moved a table an chairs for us to sit and brought the ice cream for us. It had a vibe that made me I feel like I was having ice cream at a friends place. I love it!
google avatar

Akemi S.

Yelp
Late night snack, it can be a little slow moving but that because the service is second to none.

Jasmyn R.

Yelp
Super delicious! Went for my birthday and the staff is always nice and the wakanda ice cream with the cookie bowl is super good!

Yelp
Dope Vegan Ice cream spot in the heart of downtown Atlanta. My bro and I stopped in to get some sweets. Met KP she was cool as well. Def a spot to get a healthy sweet fix lol.
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
This is the absolute BEEEESSSSSST vegan ice cream spot my mom and I have ever been to. I first came here on my own when I was pregnant and had to bring my mom with the next time. I'm always bringing someone new when I go to this shop. If this ice cream shop was in Douglasville we would be regulars on a weekly basis. There's usually a line but it is absolutely worth the wait! We both love the cookies and cream and caramel. I also enjoy the buckhead mocha. Another star of the show is the cookie bowl! It's a big cookie bowl so you may want to share with someone especially if you do 3 scoops of ice cream. The customer service is always amazing. I'm not going to lie but the location of the shop is not the best as far as finding a park and safety concerns (for some) but I have no problem managing just for this ice cream.

Yelp
My fav ice cream spot in atl. Wakanda with red velvet cone doesn't miss ...and a little less fattening
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
First off, shoutout KP! So kind and gave us a thorough walkthrough of the 8 flavors. 7 of the 8 were gluten free and they had lots of GF topping options (even Oreo!) I'm not using hyperbole when I say this is some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Absolutely delicious! Great creamy texture and flavor. I had a scoop of caramel and mocha. Both were outstanding. If I did a blind taste test I wouldn't be able to tell this was vegan. Bonus - KP did a GF cookies and cream for my friend. She loved it. On a 5 star scale this spot is a 10 in my book!

Yelp
Whether or not you care about avoiding dairy, the desserts at this little cubby spot stand on their own. I had the mysterious Wakanda that was buttery heavy creamy flavor with a reminder of coconut. This belongs in the grocery store so EVERY ONE can have it; nationwide!
google avatar

Tiffany A.

Yelp
Great experience and flavors! I've been wanting a non-dairy milkshake for a while, and they did not disappoint. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Beverly E.

Yelp
The hubs and I decided to try our first vegan ice cream so we opted for milkshakes at this establishment. You could get up to 3 flavors in your milkshake. I got the Buckhead Mocha and Spelman Strawberry Mango w/ Oat milk and the Mr got the oreo cookie w/almond milk. I was surprised how good the mocha and strawberry-mango taste. Not only was the ice cream excellent, the service was as well. What this establishment lacks in size, it most definitely makes up for it with their product and service. #HighlyRecommend #BlackOwnedSmalllBusiness #PlantBasedJourney

Yelp
Extremely small (see pic for reference) Black owned vegan ice cream shop in Downtown ATL. It's downtown so of course only street parking available. That being said, it was still pretty easy to find. The service was phenomenal. They have a pretty good variety of options/flavors; all with cute names that represent Atlanta. The prices are about average for a ice cream shop. The Wakanda Black Mystery flavor was good...tasted like a mix of butter pecan and/or homemade vanilla. The Spelman strawberry mango wasn't good in my opinion. The flavor profile/combo was just way off. Got the mango slightly but no strawberry; plus it had a weird chemically aftertaste. So I wouldn't recommend that one.
google avatar

Cierra K.

Yelp
When I found this vegan ice cream shop, I had to try it. I'm not vegan, but I'm lactose intolerant. Sure, there are dairy free ice cream options in grocery stores, but it's refreshing to have a vegan ice cream shop dedicated to hand-crafted dairy free delights such as milkshakes, cookie bowls and a variety of ice cream flavors. I've been here twice now and always receive warm and kind customer service from KG. Both times I ordered the Oreo milkshake with oat milk and Oreo crumbles...absolutely delicious! I told myself I'll try the caramel ice cream next time I visit.
google avatar

Gloria J.

Yelp
I'm not sure where to start with this post. Let's just say I'm torn between the awesomeness of KP's exceptional customer service and the awesomeness of the flavors of vegan ice cream. Honestly, I was extremely skeptical to try vegan ice cream. But I'm so glad I did. KP was the kindest soul EVER! The vibrating energy in the building was phenomenal. The flavors were so intense and the prices were great. The line outside is proof of the level of excellence in this establishment. I can't wait for my taste buds to experience such joy again!!
google avatar

Camille B.

Yelp
This is hands down the best vegan and gf ice cream I've had. They had gf waffle cones which were delicious and definitely worth it. I had the sweet auburn butter pecan and it was amazing. Lovely service. No seating inside so plan to take everything to go.

Paul S.

Yelp
Ice cream was really good. It's a small space where you go and order but there are chairs and a table outside. Great customer service as well. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Donna W.

Yelp
This place is a must! I was skeptical when I read the ice cream was vegan. I worried the texture would be weird or lack creaminess. I was so wrong!! This ice cream is creamy and flavorful. Also, the waffle cones are flavored. I chose the red velvet and the cone was amazing as well. Excellent customer service and a cute location. I will absolutely be back!

Moses C.

Yelp
GREAT SERVICE, the team member K.P was great. Very friendly, professional, and helpful.
google avatar

Lisabel M.

Yelp
Tiny and cute, the flavors were very good and the service was amazing, super kind and positive workers. My tummy ache is worth it
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
What an amazing gem to find. Easily some of the best ice cream in Atlanta (vegan or otherwise.) The flavors are fun and adventurous + the woman working there was so kind. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Elisabeth S.

Yelp
Best ice cream around. They ran out of Butter Pecan but the server was kind enough to make it on the spot. We did wait 10 minutes but it was totally worth the wait. The server was kind, attentive, and personable. I would definitely go back. This is your sign to try this vegan ice cream.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Absolutely delectable. You have to try this place!!! Don't let the Vegan part turn you away. You'd be hard pressed to find better desserts anywhere in Atlanta. Friendly customer service and great food!!! I highly recommend. Caramel may be the best ice cream I have ever tasted "period".
google avatar

Mitchell W.

Yelp
Doesn't refund money even after specifically claiming that they will. Slow service all around.
google avatar

Milla M.

Yelp
UNIQUE ICE CREAM FLAVORS with hip ATL neighborhood names. Different flavored sugar cones ! Makes eating ice cream a bit healthier. Not quite 100 percent ice cream with the texture and aftertaste but pretty dang good. This wannabe cop will have ice cream over donuts. Thanks for making my stressful day that much better !

Lauren C.

Yelp
Was visiting Atlanta for the weekend and found this vegan spot for my dairy free friend. We went back twice. KP was awesome- let us try flavors and was so personable. Highly recommended for even non vegan ice cream lovers. Favorites of the group were the Oreo, chocolate and caramel.
google avatar

Jannon S.

Yelp
We had the best experience with KP and Michael made us believers in vegan ice cream experience. We had the milkshakes with Wakanda, caramel and Oreo. Life changing. Great little spot and will be back again!
google avatar

Tabitha R.

Yelp
The BEST vegan ice cream ever! From the moment we walked in until we walked out it was a pleasant experience. We were able to sample different flavors. The ones I tried were Edgewood Oreo, Spelman Strawberry & Mango, and Buckhead Mocha and they were all amazing. I went with the Edgewood Oreo on a Black Cocoa waffle cone. My husband had Caramel Cobb and Buckhead Mocha topped with caramel. My son had Vanilla Vinings with sprinkles and we all walked out very happy. There's so many different options and she even has a mystery flavor which I thought was pretty cool. If you're looking for a good place to have vegan ice cream I definitely recommend Eighty7sweets. You will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
KP is awesome and so is the ice cream! I choose mango strawberry and lime avocado. Both flavors paired very well together.
google avatar

Jack W.

Yelp
Honestly, this is the best dessert place I have ever been to. Not joking. This place needs to be Instagram famous or smth. It's so impressive and I was shocked!! First of all, the lady there was so kind and was working extremely hard. She was so friendly and let me sample a few flavors. She also made sure I knew about all of the menu options. I went for the cookie bowl and it was such a good idea. It's awesome that it's vegan, you would have no idea it is. The ice cream (Oreo) was amazing too. The restaurant itself is very small, it only fit me and my two travel companions, but to me that's totally part of its charm. I loved it so much, ATL is extremely lucky to have a place like this!!!
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
I was recommended this spot from an employee from a nearby restaurant and did not regret it. The service was wonderful as we were able to sample 4 flavors. I had ended up picking the strawberry mango flavor which reminded me of a fruity pina colada with just the right amount of sweetness. It was just the right pick me up treat after dinner.
google avatar

Bradford K.

Yelp
KP and her business highlighting the city with good vegan ice cream is truly great. If you are lactose intolerant like me or just don't want to have the traditional ice cream and not sacrifice flavor please be sure to stop in. I'm taking all my people and try to show people this is truly great. Still can't tell you what the wakanda flavor is but man it's good! Also get that Super Bowl fam it's worth it

trun up Atlanta A.

Yelp
This is a great store great energy good ice create great food great atmosphere and good customer yyt
google avatar

Marissa P.

Yelp
I love the energy of the worker, which automatically is bonus points. She let us have samples and described each flavor of vegan ice cream. I got the Oreo ice cream. The place is small. They also have vegan milkshakes, which is nice since I can't drink regular milkshakes. Next time I come here, I want to try vegan milkshakes.
google avatar

Mio H.

Yelp
Cute and cozy little ice cream shop. Loved the lady that works there she has great customer service and humor. It was my first time but I will be back! I loved the mocha ice cream with the matcha cone. The avocado and lime with tajin was also very interesting and refreshing! The wakanda is still a mystery tho!
google avatar

Danelle F.

Yelp
Yay for Black owned vegan spots. This one was perfect for dessert one night during a college visit to ATL. Michael helped our family fully enjoy our experience by creating special desserts for each of us. While we'll never really know what is in the Wakanda Black Mystery flavor, it was delicious. As we're all the other flavors we sampled (Among them Spelman strawberry and mango, Morehouse chocolate). We were able to taste flavors first and then choose. For a little cozy spot, there are a LOT of options. My magical child created a Green Unicorn shake with secret flavors. My other child, who was visiting HBCUs in the area, got a delicious shake plus some dope life advice. My husband had a yummy "Reese's inspired" ice cream bowl created by Michael. Service was amazing and the synchronicities were We'll be back when our kiddo chooses Morehouse!!! And I hope to have a GF cookie bowl then.
google avatar

Becca W.

Yelp
We had such a positive experience here! The worker was so sweet to us. The flavors were delicious. We especially liked the Oreo and ordered it in a cookie bowl. So, so good! Just keep in mind that this is a very small shop and there's no room inside to eat. You need to take it to go. Thanks Atlanta for the amazing vegan ice cream!
google avatar

Autumn ..

Yelp
The ambiance was so nice and cute! Very modern aesthetics. She offers unique waffle cone flavors I've never seen before and the ice cream is delicious! The owners customer service was so sweet and joyful. She even sung me happy birthday. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
The service is amazing. The ice cream is out standing. You would not even know that this was vegan ice cream. Hands-down is the best ice cream I've ever tasted.

Juan E.

Yelp
This the face of my friend after he finished eating the Atlanta Braves grand slam! have to come and try it

India J.

Yelp
This place is wonderful. Me and my husband had tried many vegan ice creams and this is by far the closest when it comes to consistency and taste. The owner was so patient and so sweet when it came to any questions we had. I had the butter pecan and caramel Cobb with mixed nuts. I had 3 scoops and ate every last drop. This is an awesome addition to the Atlanta downtown area. We will be coming
google avatar

Alexa G.

Yelp
If I could, I would rank this place above 5 stars! I wanted to try something different in a warm Saturday evening: vegan milkshake. After leaving Slingshot on Marietta, I didn't want to go home immediately. Saw this place on Google Maps a while ago, but kinda forgot about it. Downtown ATL overall is not for me. Horrible parking and tourist haven. So anyways..... Found street parking around the corner. Two people ahead of me. Cool. Place is tiny. Only one customer inside at a time. First customer took forever. After about 15 minutes, guy in front of me leaves. Great! I'm next. Got a 3 flavor shake with oat milk. You know what's crazy? This has got to be the very first place ever to ask me if I like my shake thin or thick. Okay. I'm loving this joint already. After paying, took a sip and it has to be the best shake I have ever tasted! Even if you're not vegan, check out this ice cream business. It's totally worth it!

Denise V.

Yelp
Vegan, soy free ice cream! I ordered the strawberry and mango shake with almond milk. It was great. Service was excellent. I'll definitely be back.

Vony-tza C.

Yelp
One evening, after a long day at the office, I was heading to a late appointment and in a desperate search for a healthy snack. I googled the best vegan/gluten free dessert and stumbled upon Eight7sweets - The ice cream was delicious!! I also had the pleasure of meeting KP who was the absolute best and incredibly kind. The chocolate flavor was better than any conventional chocolate ice cream I'd ever had! I can't wait to go back and try more flavors! I've been craving it ever since!
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
Here is a great idea, vegan ice cream shoppe! Absolutely delicious. I have NOT enjoyed a real milk shake in YEARS! Today I had a coconut based ice cream and milk; plus WHIPPED CREAM. Can't wait to visit ATL this will be my must have treat.
google avatar

Payge S.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this ice cream shop. First of all it's AMAZING!! Probably the best dairy free gluten free ice cream I've ever had! Secondly the owner cleaned the scoops and got fresh tubs to completely avoid cross contamination from the normal gluten filled cones. I was seriously SO GRATEFUL! She went the extra mile without me even asking! Wonderful business and wonderful, kind, thoughtful, amazing owner! If we lived here, I'd come all the time! Support this wonderful business, you will be so joyfully happy with your ice cream treat!
