Tonight we decided to meet some old friends for dinner for our last night in Oklahoma. Eischen's was the agreed spot, so we hopped in the Suburban and made a drive to Okarche, Oklahoma.
Eischen's is located in the quaint little city of Okarche. Okarche is a sleepy little town with one stoplight about an hour west of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eischen's was also featured in Guy Fieri's "Diner's Drive-Ins and Dives." (Google it, I'll wait.)
Ok, we good?
We walked in and found us a spot to sit in the back room. Although the jukebox rocked "Feels like the First Time," this is not my first time here. Sorry, Foreigner.
Eischen's is a bar type setting, but don't let this fool you. This is a no frills restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, and has the best damn fried chicken in Oklahoma.
In the words of the Dos Equis guy, "I don't eat a lot of fried chicken. But when I do, it's Eischen's."
On the menu was the whole fried chicken, fried okra, nachos, roast beef sandwich, and .. well, honestly I stopped reading after whole fried chicken, so I do not remember what else they had.
We ordered two whole fried chickens, fried okra, and various sodas around. Sodas come in a can and with a cup of ice, so don't expect fancy fountain sodas.
They seemed a little busier than usual for a Wednesday night, so the chicken took a little longer than usual. This was no biggie, as we enjoyed our friends' company a little longer. In good time, we all devoured our chicken.
The chicken, perfect. Perfect crispiness. Perfect seasoning, perfect juiciness. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Need I say more? If heaven has chicken, I'm sure it is from Eischen's.
The okra was very good as well. Perfect crisp texture and not one piece mushy.
This was the perfect meal to wrap up our visit to Oklahoma.
I highly recommend Eischen's. The drive is worth it, and you will not be sorry you came. If fried chicken is your thing.
*I also forgot to mention - Eischen's now accepts credit/debit cards. They charge a 3.75% convenience fee, but are no longer "cash only."
