Where To Eat In Industry City - New York - The Infatuation

"Building 2 Ejen isn’t anything fancy. It’s just solid, straightforward Korean food like japchae, jajangmyeon, and bulgogi. It’s a good spot to pick up something quick, and there are also a few tables where you can hang out for a minute and eat some tender galbi with an especially sweet glaze." - Bryan Kim

Google
I have to say portion is a bit small but the taste of comfort is definitely there especially that crazy tofu. This happens so often with us. There will be no line when we got in then the moment we order, there will be a long line right behind. Good for us I guess. The space is small about table for 20 or so. Probably less if a bunch of parent with strollers and babies. Industry city is packed with them on the weekends. The food is amazing. Tofu is fresh and I love the rice that comes with it. Again portion can be a bit more generous for the Manhattan price. I will complain about the amount of containers and plastic comes with the meal thou. I might actually don't want to eat here cuz of that. I hope they fix that up a bit. I doubt for the soup but for all the dry dishes.

Google
Loved the food! The service was also amazing. The crispy chicken dumplings were delightful, the chicken wings were good, and the japchae was mouth-watering!

Google
Homey korean run by mom and pop. Its nice to have ginseng chicken soup on a cold day (i think the soup is a little over salted) and the chicken meat was soft and tender. Ahh another thing is, no tipping was asked on the payment screen. Thank you halmeoni and hal-abeoji. Will be back soon ~ ~ ~

Google
First stop of the day and can’t say I regret any bit of it. Food was served with warmth and care for our taste buds and super super impressed. Wings were really a shocker, wouldn’t mind eating 20 of them in one sitting!!

Google
I was really craving kimbap so I came in trying to order that but they were out. Instead, we tried an order of the potato croquettes. They were six small-ish croquettes with a small side of greens with a black sesame dressing. The croquettes were just okay. I didn't love them as much as I would have liked to especially since the the app was $10 and on the smaller side and just okay. The black sesame dressing was quite good though and I would have purchased a bottle to go if I could have. Admittedly, it's hard to write a full review based on one item but I'd like to mention that anyway.

Google
I got Japchae which was delicious, but was kid size portion. Never in my entire life have I seen such minuscule portion at a take out place. I say that as someone who can never finish the whole dish, and typically takes leftovers home. The whole Japchae could fit in a palm of my hand. There was more rice than the actual food I ordered. And even with me filling up on rice I still left hungry. I paid $15 (same price as I pay at a sit down, high end Korean restaurant) for this and felt completely ripped off.

Shay W.

Google
A quintessential Korean spot in the heart of Industry City! Not too many Korean places in this part of Brooklyn so it’s a welcome sight. Friendly staff and delicious and authentic foods! Try the Jajangmyeon!

Lilli S.

Google
Little ol’ white girl late to the bibimbap party… I could eat this every day of my life. Each ingredient is really fresh, not over-salted, the beef is flavorful and makes the rice taste really good, and there’s a nice side of kimchi to help you digest it all. A perfectly well-balanced, fancy looking, fast meal. Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu (such as the japchae (which I HAVE had before)), and the jajangmyeon which looks delicious (and I have definitely not had before). Ejen staff, please don’t judge me if I’m back here ordering the same thing every day for the next two weeks.

Yelp
Quick service, there are tables in the space itself but this is also in Industry City so there's great outdoor seating right nearby, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced! The tangsoo had a great texture too it, a nice sprinkling of vegetables on top, and a perfect amount of sweet and sour sauce to top it all off. The side of pickled radish was a wonderful touch as well.

Yelp
Came by for lunch before going to Costco. There were a few people in the restaurant. They have a variety of different foods, from bbq meat to kimbap to Chinese influenced Korean dishes. Opted for jajangmyeon with pork tang soo. The jajangmyeon was okay. The portion was huge, and the sauce was pretty good. However, it didn't stick to the noodles as well, so the noodles themselves were a little bland. They really took time to make the pork tang soo, so you know it's fresh. My favorite part of the meal. The batter was light and cripsy, and the sweet and sour sauce was great. I didn't expect it to be served with rice and pickled radish as I was hoping to have just the meat to eat with the jajangmyeon. It worked out though as I mixed the rice with the rest of the black bean sauce. You can really tell it's a family owned business. You can see the grandparents working in the back making your food. Definitely a restaurant to support.

Yelp
I always forget to take a photo until I'm halfway through the meal Delicious, no-frills Korean comfort food. ~$30 for two people lunch, and great portions. It's very clean, food is out quickly , and they are happy to help you Thank you for a great lunch

Yelp
I had a great first time experience here. The food came out at a reasonable time -- quicker than being at a restaurant, that's for sure. For a place that's small, it's airy, bright and the plants were a nice touch. There is ample seating, both benches and chairs. The service was quick and easy. No complaints. We ordered: - crispy pork dumplings: 8 fried dumplings filled with pork and assorted vegetables - galbi beef: flanken cut, fire grilled short ribs in a sweet and savory marinade - bulgogi beef: thinly sliced, pan fried rib-eye in a sweet and savory marinade - fish cutlets: panko crusted tilapia with a spicy mayo sauce on too Everything was freshly made and delicious

Yelp
Ordered Beef Fried Rice for $14 dollars. Food was decent, but I was very disappointed with the portion. There was nothing special about the dish to warrant such a small serving at this price. I know prices for food tend to be higher at Industry City, but other vendors provide better value for the money.
google avatar

Yelp
The place looks modern and clean. The food freshly made and delicious. The service is great. I'll be back to the place again.

Yelp
Cute little Korean place located in Industry City. I've never really ventured out to this area but I was catching up with a friend and she suggested this spot. There are other food places located around, kinda like a mall strip but this place caught my eye. I ordered the crispy dumplings which came out to $14 for 8 which wasn't too bad. They were absolutely delish and came with a sweet savory sauce on top. There were a few tables inside and plenty outside to sit to enjoy your food. The service is more of a quick service.

Yelp
I love the diversity of cuisines located in the Industry City complex. To compliment that even further, Ejen appears to be a small family-run business. I ordered here when they were operating out of a corner space in the building before they moved into a bigger adjacent space. To my knowledge, the prices for food are still quite expensive although one can argue that it is because of the location. I ordered a simple beef kimbap and their delicious-looking black bean noodles. For the astronomical pricing, I expected more in quantity out of the noodles, or even a bit more in protein but that was not the case. Growing up in Sunset Park, the lack of Korean cuisine was evident, and to see what can be had today, is definitely refreshing. However, the portion size and pricing might dissuade people from making this a constant. I also would prefer that the Kimbap would be made fresh in front of the customers but I understand that can be problematic when the lines are longer. Overall, the food was just okay and I would probably come back if I ever craved an overpriced and homey Korean meal.

Yelp
Delicious quick comfort in a low key place. I stopped here and not wanting Korean, but just curious what was on the menu. I liked the look of the space and felt immediately interested in eating here, altho initially pizza was on my mind. I ordered the dumpling soup and it was sooooo ono I still want it again.. and tried to get it again the following weekend lol - that's not a joke tho. I was so bummed to miss out. Womp womp. Be warned when they run out of food, they close so that could be earlier than their normal business hours. So delicious. Clean and some items were organic.. I asked. Great lil spot, I just wished they would deliver

Yelp
BLUF: Delicious food, but we've experienced take-out mishaps in portions and packaging. We ordered take-out from Ejen Korean Comfort Foods on separate occasions. While the food here is delicious, Ejen seems to need better execution on packaging and portion consistency. - Jajangmyeon (Black Bean Sauce Noodles): $15. Delicious noodles; the sauce is on the sweet side. There wasn't enough sauce for one-third of the noodles. I expected enough sauce since the dish consists of only two things -- noodles and sauce. - Ejenmyun with Seafood: $15. Most of the broth spilled out during transport because they used a cover with an insufficient seal. The soup that remained was pretty good.

Yelp
Even though it is a small establishment, it had some of the best Korean food I ever had. Usually I have to travel to Koreatown in the city to get Korean food. But not any longer. We tried the kimbap, Bulgogi rice combo, seafood tofu soup, and fried rice. The service and ambiance is great. It didn't take long to get our dishes. It was all delicious. You can tell it was authentic and brought me back to Korea. I will definitely be going back l.

Yelp
More like Korean fast food. Difficult to find good seafood tofu soup in Brooklyn, this place satisfies the craving.

Yelp
Quick bite in Industry city. Loved the bowl and how fresh all of the ingredients were! Limited seating in the actual shop, but lots of outdoor and indoor seating around the food area of Industry City

Yelp
Get to the Chase: Pros: 1) Family run 2) Quick service 3) Friendly staff Cons: 1) Was really looking forward to it, but the food tasted pretty bland and not authentic at all 2) Incredibly over priced for portions 3) Feel like it's hyped up a bit given it's in Industry City

Matthew M.

Yelp
Edit: Visited four times recently and each time they said they are closed randomly. Just today (sunday) at 4:40, they decided to close up shop nearly an hour and a half early. Great food, but unfortunately totally unreliable and no phone number to call to check beforehand.

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place since there isn't any authentic Korean restaurants in Brooklyn. I came during the weekend with a friend and the place was packed! There was a huge line and all the tables were filled so this gave me the impression this place must be really good. I ordered the galbi which came with a side of rice and a side of veggie. For $20, this entree was pretty pricey given how small it was. I get that with the pandemic and inflation, everything is expensive. I was more than happy to support this mom & pop restaurant but this dish wasn't great. This dish came with 4 pieces of galbi and the texture was off. It was super chewy and didn't have that charred/grilled taste. The galbi looks grilled but it was probably cooked/simmered in sauce afterwards. If you're opting for a healthier version of galbi, this might be your thing. I also got the corn tea which was surprisingly really good. It sounded weird at first but this is a must try. It was very refreshing and you can actually taste the roasted corn flavor. I would come back to try the bibimbap and give this place another chance but definitely not getting the galbi dish. Lastly, prepare to wait 15-20 minutes for your food!

Yelp
A solid place for a quick, light-ish bite while in industry city- has some vegetarian options! After shopping on a Sunday, we walked around to the food vendors in Industry city and decided on Ejen. It was very clean and looked like a family was running it. We both love virtually any type of Asian food and were pleased to see a few vegetarian options on the menu. We both got the veggie sweet potato noodles (I forgot exactly what it's called on the menu). It didn't mention any sides, but it came with white rice and kimchi on the side. The noodles were pretty plain and simple. Not flavorless, but not spicy and without any thick sauce. I prefer more bold flavors from Thai or Chinese food, but this was solid, filling, and didn't leave me feeling too full

Andrew M.

Yelp
This place was great and needs to be a chain. I work in Midtown and I wish we had a similar restaurant there. The tofu soup was great. Great portions. Really does need to be a chain.

J J.

Yelp
Terrible food and overpriced! Had the shrimp fried rice and it lacked in favor. It was so blend my mouth had more flavor than this! Also the portions are comically small for the price they charge. Really not worth it. Really wanted to like this place but it was not comforting at all. Would not go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
google avatar

Yelp
We wanted to grab a quick dinner so we decided to try this spot and it's actually pretty good! We order the Bulgogi Plate and fish cutlet and it's amazingly delicious! Would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Pricey, but really good. It is a smaller business so I can understand. There is only one cashier and one person making the food. My black bean noodles Jajangmyeon was $16 + tax. It came with a side of pickles. It was very homemade and good, but pricey for my lunches. I would come back very occasionally as their food can get pricey but is good. I do understand as Industry City rent is not the cheapest and they need to earn also. The workers were friendly and nice.

Yelp
From the simplicity of the menu to the bench and table seating, I enjoyed my visit to Ejen. I had an appointment nearby and on my way to it, I passed this establishment and was captivated by the menu photos. I returned after my appointment and made a hard decision as to my first meal .. hard because of so many great options. I chose the Pork and Beef Dumpling Soup. It was a takeout order, and when I finally got home and opened that bag filled with my treasure I was not disappointed! All those wonderful aromas had me ecstatic. Plus I was given a container of rice and a small container of kimchi! All for under $20! The dumplings in that soup were just so good. I kept adding some rice and some kimchi, and scoop after scoop of just plain deliciousness kept getting devoured. The small staff did wonders. The only sounds you heard were coming from passing foot traffic, this place was quiet and respectful. Just the comfortable silence of people enjoying their meals. I am glad I stopped by and made a purchase. Ejen has made a new, and returning, customer. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better prices. Don't think twice about it; make a trip to Ejen and discover how great this place, and the food, are.

Yelp
Major Food Poisoning! Got major food poisoning from their fried fish and kimchi. Safe to say that I will not be back. So upsetting!

Vi L.

Yelp
I came to support this restaurant because I am Korean myself. But what I saw today this place should be shut down and the owner should be banned from owning a restaurant. I was eating there and saw the owner came out from the kitchen very aggressively and was cussing crazy. The 3 woman that was eating at one table complained why this meat was so chewwy, it turned out that the meat has a string in it that was from the package where the meat came from. They were very polite and very understanding saying to the owner it's fine and was wondering if they can just get a refund for that dish. He came at them very rude and very aggressive I thought he was going to punch them! I was very in disbelief of what I am witnessing. The customer is always right! The whole time the 3 woman was calm and tried to talk to him to the point where they were scared and Decided they would pay for it! I think because they were scared for their life. Anyways, the owner even cuss at them in Korean saying F Koreans I hate them and this is why I don't like Koreans. The thing is he's Korean himself! I don't think I will ever be coming back here ever! He's racist and abusive towards his customer super rude, service was bad ,food was bad ,never again coming here!
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
The food at Industry are highly over priced but it definitely showed the most here with Ejen. I ordered the Beef Bokkeumbap, or Beef Fried Rice which was $10, which is already pretty expensive but actually one of the cheapest on the menu. The moment I saw the worker pack my rice into the smallest container ever, I felt scammed. Did I order a meal or an appetizer? But! The meal was actually really filling despite the size. To be honest, the meal was sweet and savory but the rice seriously tasted like something you can make at home. The rice was also more on the mushy side with some parts being clumped up together. I would have enjoyed my meal slightly more if it wasn't for the huge amount of glistening oil at the bottom of the bowl. Really nice respectful workers and owners but the food is mediocre for the price.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. What can I say. When we saw momma cooking the food we literally knew this was the spot to be in. The food is delicious. I ordered the hot wings and my wife ordered the chicken dish. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, but it was worth every minute. There's a huge difference between their dishes and any other Korean spot I've been to. It taste as comforting as a home cooked meal. We sat inside and waited for the food to be ready, listening to the calm indie music they played, and admired all the beautiful plants they have surrounding the windows. I was so glad I didn't settle for the pizza my wife wanted to have. I would have missed out on great service, a delicious meal and a beautiful experience. The place is a bit small and doesn't have it's own bathroom due to it being inside the main buildings of industry city, but don't fret there is a restroom right around the corner from it. I've already recommended it to about 10 people and will 100% come back here. Worth every penny and more

Yelp
While checking out Industry city this place was one of the few open for food we decided to give it a try. we went with the Tangsoo, this was sweet & sour Chicken with white rice & the cucumber side , very good chicken nice tasting sauce , decent rice & cucumber side. we also had an order of the Crispy pork dumplings they were very good . The Dumplings seemed to be the winner taste wise, Chicken was a close second. Small location, decent service & prices .. we enjoyed our food.
google avatar

Deb G.

Yelp
Definitely worth a try! I got the jajangmyun, which is a squash, black bean, and pork casserole served over noodles. Delish! My friend also got it and called it korean bolognese, and she wasn't wrong! The corn drink I got was ok (basically like barley tea) but my friend's ginger persimmon drink was awesome - hot and spicy!

Beth G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I had the pork bulgogi and it was amazing. Kimchee and rice came with it. Only reason for 4 stars is that the Kimchee although very fresh was vey mild and a bit bland, the portion sizes here and are really small for the $. The sides are also overpriced.
google avatar

Tamie L.

Yelp
Super cute and homey ambiance. Super nice workers. Bibimbap 5/5 I loved the smokiness of the beef and the addition of mushrooms. I'd come again to try their other food options :)
google avatar

Helen H.

Yelp
Unfortunately, it's hard to find good Korean food in Brooklyn. So we were thrilled to discover Ejen which has decent Korean food that satisfied our cravings. The beef BiBimBap was great with plenty of assorted vegetables to make me feel somewhat healthier; just remember to remind them about the gochujang sauce on the side since they forgot to include it before in my first order. Husband is happy with their jajangmyun, easily polishing off two bowls in one sitting, and called the spicy pork bulgogi divine. I've had better seafood soondubu elsewhere, but the broth is still good with silky tofu, not too spicy at all. Ultimately a great place to pick up some Korean comfort food; just be careful to note the days they are open. They are currently listed as closed Mondays to Wednesdays.
google avatar

Chloe D.

Yelp
Ordered Shrimp Fried rice and Korean Wings. Rice was light and tasted good. Shrimp was ok but not cooked well. The chicken was the reason I had to write this review. HUGE steroid wings that was over breaded and not cooked well. I do not like those humongous chicken wings that look like turkey wings and the breading added to the weight. The actual meat was not hot to the bone and not cooked well done like I asked. The breading was poorly done so some parts were crispy and others were soft and chewy. Not good did not finish.

Yelp
Ejen moved into a larger permanent space within the Industry City food court and I have one thing to say: FINALLY. It's been like months of renovations and whatever else always takes ages when this stuff happens, but FINALLY Ejen is back and better than ever. With a new expanded menu, they've upped their prices slightly but also include a host of new options still at the $10 range, which I very much appreciate as it's a rare commodity in this pit of hip gentrification. It's also a rare commodity to see an actual family business in a place like this, in this case a husband and wife duo who are still behind the counter cooking and manning the register, and I appreciate that too. Anyhow, now with an expanded kitchen and a small seating area, the food's still great and the service is always pleasant. Off the new menu, the hits seem to be the Crispy Chicken Wings (Bonchon chicken style) and the Jajangmyun noodles (basically a sweet pork stew on top of a mess 'o' wheat noodles). I'm looking forward to going here as often as my wallet allows once the initial rush of lines blows over.

Yelp
If you are looking for a quick and affordable Korean take out food this is the place for you. My food was ready in 5 mins after I ordered. I got bibimbap with beef which I enjoyed and as a Korean I can say the taste was authentic.

Yelp
Very good vegetarian Bimbap and customer service. A bit on the pricey side but so is everything Industry City. Great customer service.

Yelp

Looking forward to trying the other things on the menu (such as the japchae (which I HAVE had before)), and the jajangmyeon which looks delicious (and I have definitely not had before). Ejen staff, please don't judge me if I'm back here ordering the same thing every day for the next two weeks.

Yelp
I came during lunch on a weekday and had prompt service. I ordered the veggie jap chae which came with a daily side. The noodles has slightly too much sesame oil but I enjoyed the many vegetables and the side of picked veggies. The daily side ended up being fried chicken which I felt was inappropriate considering I ordered the vegetarian noodle option vs the one that included meat. I was also confused why the dish came with rice when you already have carbs from the noodles and wished I received more noodles and no rice. It worked out anyways because my friend ate the chicken with the rice. I was also impressed by their environmentally friendly containers and compostable utensils/straws. Too bad industry city doesn't have separate compost bins
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
The food was amazing and just what I needed. It was a chilly day and I needed a comforting warm soup. I got the Ginseng Chicken Soup and Crispy Chicken Dumplings and it was everything I wanted. It made me feel good not just as I was eating it but afterwards as well. I am someone with stomach issues and it was just what the doctor ordered. I will be back and will be telling all my friends to try as well.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Place is small it's located inside industry city, not much Korean places in Brooklyn so was excited to try this place, got their kimbap rolls and they were delicious. There was a line and wait can be long for the cooked food because they make it fresh for you, the kimbap rolls are already made and put in containers so it was fairly quick. I believe it's family owned with the husband and wife cooking and the daughter or worker as the cashier. Authentic Korean food!

Yelp
I've been going to Ejen ever since they opened their first little stall in Industry City. They've since upgraded to a storefront down the hall, and with that the prices have increased as well, but the owners are adorable and very friendly so I don't mind giving them my money as much. Most importantly, their cooking rules the entire food hall! Their food is easily the best thing on the Industry City campus. My favorite dish to get is the bulgogi plate. The beef and the pork versions are ridiculuosly tender, and they are marinated thoroughly. The sauce is delicious, and there's plenty of it to go with your rice. They usually have either kimchi or radishes as a banchan to go with it, and it makes the meal complete. The portion size for the meat is good, and it's larger than what it used to be when they had their stall. My biggest complaint used to be that their food is so tasty that I always wanted more after I was done, but now I get pleasantly full and satisfied. I got a sample of the creamy chicken soup today, and it was flavorful and way better than anything Campbell's ever put out. If I were sick, I'd definitely think that Ejen's chicken soup would make me feel better! Also, bonus points that they serve their to go portions in compostable containers, but IC is so hipster that of course they would based on the usual clientele. I'm sure some millenial would take away a star from them if they didn't, but now they don't have an excuse to not give them 5 stars!
google avatar

Carla T.

Yelp
I've finally tried most of the dishes from Ejen and they are all very tasty, you really can't go wrong. The reason why I'm lowering the stars is because of the wait time. The only people in the kitchen are the two owners and one helper who deals with the register and 20 other things. Everytime I come here the wait time is extremely long. They really should consider hiring more people. I love Ejen! So much that I've eaten twice last week. Admittedly I've only tried their japchae stir-fry glass noodles, but everytime it's been super tasty. The food is made daily by none other than the owners, which in my opinion, speaks volumes. It usually takes a bit to get your food, or there are huge lines, but this is the reason why. I rather wait and have freshly made food than get something that was taken out of a fridg

GAH! I am THRILLED by the existence of Ejen! It's been a struggle to find my FAVORITE foods, jjajangmyun and tangsooyook, in Brooklyn where I have lived for the last ten years. These comforting dishes of my childhood are now available at one of my family's favorite hangout spots, Industry City! The prices are incredibly reasonable as well. Let's support this lovely family-run business and devour their extraordinary food!

Yelp
Ejen is a fabulous family-run restaurant with absolutely delicious food. The vegetarian jap chae and crispy pork rolls are some of my favorite things to eat in Industry City, which itself is an embarrassment of riches. Bulgogi beef is also to die for. We are local and had been going here for over a year when we discovered this write up in the NYT: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/22/dining/ejen-review-korean.html Was very glad to see one of our favorite spots getting much deserved attention. Ejen is totally worth a trip from any part of the city.

Yelp
an overpriced fake Korean food. The food does not taste good at all, I tried their Pork Bulgogi and another dish. Both were very meh. The pork bulgogi was very oily and the portion was tiny for the price they charged.

Yelp
We settled on this little eatery in the Industry City Food Court after a day of exploring. Unlike Japan Village, which was absolutely packed and a bit anxiety-inducing, the food court was a bit more manageable. Ejen's steady stream of customers (without appearing TOO busy), welcoming look, and the promise of "Korean comfort food" drew us in. This time around, I went for their bibimbap. I'm my opinion, it was the perfect amount of food for what I paid, not too little, not too much. It is not the *most* flavorful version I've ever had, but it was totally satisfying, and enough to make me want to take other people there if I come back to IC. Finally, how could you not go "aww" at all of the family pictures on the wall and the fact that it's like a woman and her 2 parents (wo)manning the whole operation? Definitely worth supporting!

Yelp
Pork dumpling soup w/ beef brisket and sweet & spicy pork bulgogi were SO GOOD. Can't wait to try everything out! The restaurant was cute & clean and located in industry city where you can hang out w/ your friends or family , people were VERY FRIENDLY (especially the owner), nothing to complain! Oh, also they have very special drinks that I really want to try next time :D
