Yelp
Made a reservation through Resy and it was so-so.
It's an open concept location with a bar and musical performance area; the music was pretty loud, especially since we were seated under the TV, so it was a bit hard to have a conversation overall.
When I was there, there were maybe three other patrons there; service was nice, but a little too hover-y and talkative for me.
Ordered quite a bit from the menu but it all fell short of taste and flavour:
- Taquitos de papa: Four pieces of fried potato tacos, tomatillo salsa, crema, queso fresco. $12.
Blank, perhaps unseasoned filling, although the taquitos were crispy.
- Yuzu calamari: Crispy calamari, red yuzukosho butter, fresno chile, green yuzukosho aioli, cilantro. $17.
This was probably the only dish I actually enjoyed out of everything because of the balance of flavours.
- Pulpo con papas: Grilled octopus adobado, castelvetrano aioli, garlic fingerling potatoes. $14.
The single octopus piece was overcooked and required something citrus-y. It tasted so much better when I dipped pieces of the potatoes and octopus in the yuzu calamari sauce. The potatoes were a nice balance, but needed to be dipped in the same calamari sauce to really be tasty.
- Albacore crudo tostada: Aji amarillo, grasshoppers, peruvian corn, yam. $7.
- Camaron marinero tostada: Black sauce, cucumber, mango, onion, tomato, cilantro, avocado. $9
- Tuna ceviche tostada: Blue fin tuna, tamari garlic, lemon, macha salsa, serrano, avocado (contains shellfish and nuts). $8.
- Ceviche de salmon tostada: Pico de gallo, orange, lemon, avocado, pickle carrot, green onion. $8.
- Aguachile verde de camaron tostada: Shrimp, mint, yuzu, lime, cucumber, radish, onion, cilantro. $9.
All the tostadas were missing flavour, borderline bland; none had the hint of spice they should have had, e.g., the aguachile, or the tartiness one would expect for dishes with lemon/lime; very disappointing. Portions were fine for sharing as they were tostadas.
Parking is limited to street parking, since this is on 4th Street. You'll have to circle a few blocks to find parking in the neighbourhood and then walk here, as we did; didn't see any signs for parking lots nearby that we could use.
Overall, it was overpriced in my opinion and not some place I'd be going back to.
