El Buen Sabor in Eugene, OR is a hidden gem that is not to be missed. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made me feel right at home. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with beautiful Mexican art lining the walls. But let’s talk about the food – it was absolutely delicious! The menu had a great variety of traditional Mexican dishes but with a modern twist. The highlight for me was the Chicken Mole Enchiladas which was so flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. The portions were generous, and the presentation was impressive. Every dish looked like a work of art on the plate, and it was evident that a lot of thought and care went into the preparation of each meal. The prices were reasonable, and the quality of food made it worth every penny. El Buen Sabor also had a great selection of drinks, including authentic margaritas that were the perfect complement to the meal. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at El Buen Sabor and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine with a contemporary twist. The food, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding, and I can't wait to return!

Delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared food every time. They have a vegetarian or vegan option for most of their items! As someone with dietary restrictions, this place has been so accommodating and I’m able to enjoy my meal every time without worry. I can’t get enough of their vegan wet burrito, vegan memelas and verde salsa! One of my favorite restaurants in town.

Stephen H

Google
Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Had the vegan tlayuda, and it was amazing!

Cameron

Google
Delicious chilaquiles! Would recommend if you want a lot of authentic, hot and fast food

Google
Loved this local casual Mexican restaurant. The burrito is a handful! I tried something new and had the Asada Blanda. Very tasty, loved the beef. You get the choice of red or green hot sauce on the side. There's outdoor seating (no indoor) but its covered, the service was super friendly! This place is definitely a local favorite! Cant wait to come back and try something new.

Google
We had the best lunch today at El Buen Sabor. The Chorizo Taco had a Handmade Corn Tortilla, Shredded Cabbage, Cilantro, Grilled Onions, Guacamole, and Salsa. The spectacular Wet Burrito was huge and it was a Flour Tortilla, Rice, Cilantro, Adobado, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Lettuce, Tortilla Chips, and Green Salsa. The Gorditas were crisp, delectable Fried Corn Masa filled with Carnitas, Shredded Cabbage, Cilantro, Onions, Guacamole, and Salsa. This is Authentic Oaxacan Cuisine and the Meats, Vegetables, Salsa, and Tortillas are prepared fresh daily here. The flavors were mouth-watering perfection.

Google
HUGE menu, lots of options including vegetarian and vegan. We ordered to go and the food was not only on time but still hot and fresh. The Cilantro, perfectly cooked rice and the quality/variety of salsas alone will have us coming back!!! Best burritos in town!

Google
Very authentic food. I have not been disappointed with any items from breakfast burritos to machete. You can't go wrong.

Yelp
We went this truck during a rain storm, happy there was shelter to be had in front. There are a couple of tables and a bar stool type setup. A sign says you can park for 30 min at Carson Saw Shop. The food was good. I had the Tacos Dorados, they only come with pollo/chicken, just a heads up, I didn't know before I ordered it. This was basically like a rolled fried taquito only bigger. You can also ask for red and/or green salsa.

Yelp
Really great tacos with corn tortillas! We've also tried their machete, tlayuda, and burritos - all were great. This is a food truck but has seating out front with a small, comfy overhang. Service is decently quick. There is very limited parking. El Buen Sabor always comes to mind when we are thinking of affordable, yummy Mexican food that will deliver on portion and flavor.

Yelp
Fresh, friendly and a great variety. They have a great fresh fruit place next door that's indoors. Will definitely be going back more often.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Eugene!!! When I initially moved to Eugene, the Mexican food scene seemed sparse. I was so glad to have come across El Buen Sabor. This stand alone food cart has really anything you can imagine. I love the breakfast burritos! There is very limited covered seating, but it's easy to grab your food and go! The service is excellent, so you'll be in and out of there ASAP.

Yelp
This was okay Mexican food, they had a lot of options and the service was really fast but it wasn't my favorite. This is a food truck right next to el rancho so it's hard not to compare the two. There is outdoor seating which is very nice but it can be a bit cramped. Overall the food was average and I had a good experience but I'm not sure if I would choose this place over the other Mexican restaurants in the area. However, there is a large variety of vegan and vegetarian options. So if that's what your looking for then I would recommend checking it out. (I do appreciate all the menu photos they have on the side of the truck)

Eli C.

Yelp
Very expensive for not so great food. It's fine, but the kind of stuff you could make at home. Margaritas were also not so great. When I'm paying 14-15$ for a marg, I want it to be decent, these felt somehow worse than pre-mixed ones. Service was rough, had to get the waiters attention when we needed more drinks / the check. Ambiance was killer. Seriously good job on it. My biggest gripe is the price for the quality.
google avatar

Yelp
We had this food cart when it was outside of Soko! Coffee and breakfast burritos are the perfect pairing! The bread on the sandwich was amazing, the ingredients felt fresh, and the prices were reasonable! We had eaten burrito boy for breakfast the weekend prior, and El Buen Sabor is 100x better!

Madison Y.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to get food in Eugene. They have amazing carne asada tacos, both the street style and oaxacan tacos. My friends say their wet burrito and memelas are really good as well. The staff is very friendly and the service is pretty quick as long as it's not super busy.
google avatar

Kylie H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for breakfast the first time the other day and by golly it was so good! Lots of options, including vegan and vegetarian. Also a very fair price! I also like that the outside is covered incase you want to eat there, but we took it to go.

Yelp
Its rare to find spots open late on Sunday and with a great mexican taste! Geez their food is so rich and yummy, i say this specially coming from trying all the "LA good Mexican spots". I think the only thing i would say is offering sauces to costumer to add that top taste then its definitely all chef's kiss
google avatar

Jorge C.

Yelp
Honestly is very good place to visit, food is very authentic, i recommend the tlayuda it is big enough for tow or if you are a good eater. lol great customer service they definitely make you feel like a real deal.

Ryleigh H.

Yelp
Their new Oakway location is terribly rude and majorly lacking in customer service. Disappointing and won't be coming back

Miranda R.

Yelp
No flavor !! The tlayuda completely softened up. Will not be going back:(. I really wanted to like it

Yelp
Fantastic Mexican food at bargain prices. Tacos are A+. The pork, asada and chicken are all really special and delicious. Fresh made tortillas and fresh ingredients across the board. Service has always been friendly over the 100+ times I've been here. My family loves the food here too. There is a nice seating area with a cover so you can stay dry. In the summer they add more table along the grass. El Buen Sabor is always serving up high quality, tasty food!

Yelp
This review is for their downtown location-the tacos were very good, and I liked the rice and beans. Make sure you ask for the green sauce over the red sauce-unless you like heat. Good service. The horchata requires lots of stirring in order to keep it mixed. No ambiance since this refers to their food cart location.

Doug O.

Yelp
Breakfast blanda with chorizo is super delicious! Love the Oaxakan style food!!! Service is always pleasant and quick!

Rebecca B.

Yelp
So delicious - the La Blanda with chorizo was my choice for breakfast. It's huge - enough for two meals.y favorite place for Saturday breakfast takeout!

Rianna S.

Yelp
I had planned to take pictures... but was way too hungry and forgot. We got the tacos compenchanos and they were delicious. Chorizo was salty and smoky and asada was tender. Green sauce was great too. Overall very friendly and quick service and fantastic tacos!!
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
Delicious food with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options! The tlayuda was bigger than the size of my head, and could be shared by two people.
google avatar

Amira B.

Yelp
I came here when I had a strong chilaquiles craving one time and I wasn't disappointed. Huge portions and super fresh. YUM.
google avatar

Randy T.

Yelp
My first time having Oaxacan food and I definitely need to try more of it! I stopped by the downtown Eugene location of El Buen Sabor to get some tacos but the memelas also caught my eye while scanning the menu. Wow, handmade tortillas make the difference! They were crispy and soft at the same time. You get your choice of meat so I got the chorizo, which had that wonderful smoky/spicy component I loved. The tacos with carne asada were sublime! I could eat a half dozen of them and be truly in heaven for the rest of the day. Once again, the handmade tortillas lifted the tacos to a whole other level. Stop by and try they Oaxacan food now!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is insanely good. I had full intentions of taking pictures of the food, but it was gone way too fast. I'm really shocked they don't have more reviews on here honestly. The food is so flavorful and full of choices I've never tried before. We ordered the memeles, sopes, and the gorditas, each with a different meat. Personally, I likes the pork and chorizo the most. Also be sure to say yes if they offer you any additional salsas! Do yourself a favor and check them out!

Dennis G.

Yelp
Great Great Chorizo Burritos backed up by some awesome red salsa!!! Working now in a brand new food truck at the same location!! Great food! Super clean kitchen!! Friendly service!!
google avatar

Bradley J.

Yelp
Amazing food, just park on the street or park across the street. One of the best breakfast burritos I've had in a long time. Chorizo. A great Mercado right there as well.

Stephen K.

Yelp
Unacceptable service. When I arrived there was one couple finishing their meal and nobody else around - I placed an order for 2 burritos, 2 tacos and a side of guacamole. Soon after they began to get more customers for dinner. After 30 minutes food started coming out the window, however none were my order, but were for the people who ordered after me. I watched Erika her call the food as it came out, all more complex dishes than the burritos I had ordered (all with the same ingredients as my order). After 6 people who ordered after me received their food first, I politely asked Erika what was going on - she simply stated 'your food is being made'. When I looked over at the cooktop, my food was not being made. Still with an unclear answer as to why other people received their food first, I continued to wait. After 50 minutes of waiting - and numerous food orders served to others who ordered after me, I asked again what was going on - Erika gave the same response, pointed to the grill and said your 'food is being made'. After 10 more minutes (a total of 1 hour of waiting) she finally called out my food order to be picked up (reading it off as if she didn't know it was mine). The side of guacamole I ordered was not in the bag so I politely asked for it. She gave me a dirty look as if my business and generous tip I made when the order was originally placed (that I wish I could have taken back) was an inconvenience to her. She promptly got the side of guacamole and put it in the bag then handed me my food. She was dismissive and did not apologize once for the absurd wait time or give a clear explanation as to what was truly going on. As someone who has worked in food service, I understand that there are times when orders take longer than expected or even forgotten or misplaced - that is not the issue. The issue is being her being dishonest to my face, twice, when the food of others were intentionally being prioritized over mine, and that she did not once apologize or show any concern that I had waited an hour for two burritos and two tacos. If she had simply showed once ounce of kindness to resolve the situation, I would have happily been a returning customer. Instead she will receive this honest review of her business instead. Some of the worst food service I've ever received. Just be honest, and kind to your customers - simple.

Yelp
I notice some of the more recent reviews for this place are a little iffy, and wanted to chime in and say how much my family and I enjoyed their delicious vegan and vegetarian options - the tlayuda (lots of cabbage - I didn't need to supplement with a salad, so yeah, I guess it helps if you like cabbage), the wet burrito (potatoes are a really good idea), and the huarache. I really can't say which one I liked best because they were all excellent, tasty and rich. The service was with a smile and prompt at 5:30 on a Saturday. Looking forward to going back!
google avatar

Angel D.

Yelp
Combine the most authentic Oaxacan cuisine in Layne County with handmade tortillas and I don't care how bad the parking is or how awkward the line setup to the ordering window is. Worth it.
google avatar

Raven K.

Yelp
The food wasn't to bad but we found hair in the burrito and we didn't get what we ordered. And the location is hard to park for.

Talia W.

Yelp
Verdad al nombre, sí es comida sabrosa. La horchata tiene un sabor cómo es casera. las cajeras son amable y con good vibes.

Yelp
This was a family recommendation from Las Vegas NM. This taqueria is the BEST IN EUGENE! It really was so great! I had the Tlayuda recommendation from Yelp! So amazing!! It's huge! Their salsa and Oaxaca cheese is sooo good! My husband had the gordita and the pork was amazing. Melted in his mouth with the queso was YUM!!
google avatar

Molly M.

Yelp
Fantastic nachos. One of my fav taco spots. Popular, so can be busy. Awkward parking in that area, so I prefer to walk or ride over from the Whit.
google avatar

Cameron C.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Eugene. Hands down. Not even close. So much flavor! The memelas are a new sensation for me. Never had it before pero estan muy ricas. Will definitely come back and I recommend this to anybody who loves authentic Mexican food. La señora que nos ayudo es muy amable. Nos dio mucho gusto pasar por su local durante nuestro viaje. Nos gusto mucho la decoraccion y el ambiente!

Yelp
Props for homemade tortillas here, they're excellent! I can only speak for the tacos here (have not tried anything else yet), but they're pretty good! The tortilla is great, the meat is good (go for the pork, it has a great spicy flavor), I could do without all the cabbage they put on it though. I'd rather have just cilantro and onion on my taco. There are 4-5 tables to sit at, there was a bit of a wait to get our food but not bad. It's a good sign though, it means they make all of their food to order. Service was friendly and sufficient. I want to go back and try some of the other items on their menu.

Yelp
I was hovering between 4 and 5 stars for this place, which I didn't anticipate, since I thought it would be a 5-star slam dunk. Reasons for a slam dunk: the food is fresh, it's Oaxacan and therefore regional and more interesting than the usual fare (I tried tlayuda for the first time and that was exciting), and HOMEMADE corn tortillas that are so delicious. But in the three dishes I've tried so far--tlayuda, sopes, blanda--the flavors were not very strong. The beans can lack seasoning sometimes (their black beans are less seasoned than pinto, I noticed, so maybe opt for sopes if you want flavorful beans) and there is a lot of cabbage, and all of it wants salt, especially the tlayuda. Where they say "guacamole" they mean it comes with a few slices of avocado. Maybe they stopped making guac in response to demand and speeding up the food prep. The result is that you need a lot of salsa on top of everything. Fortunately their salsa is great, both the tangy verde and red which is HOT, no joke. Maybe this is how Oaxacan food is supposed to be and I'm just an ignorant bystander. All I can say is that the homemade tortillas and the stringy texture of queso Oaxaca will keep me coming back. P.S. As someone who dislikes Tacovore and all it stands for (pretentious fusion that doesn't actually even taste good), I'm so happy El Buen Sabor exists!

Monica W.

Yelp
I ordered a wet burrito and it was so dry. I hat to put ranch on it to make it edible. Also asked for extra cheese and paid for extra cheese and it had very little cheese. And it was filled with limebeans. Yuck

Yelp
Welcome to my new favorite food cart in Eugene- likely my favorite Mexican food anywhere. Like the last reviewer, why haven't I noticed this jewel in my neighborhood until recently? Not sure what something on the menu is? They have pictures... PLUS you can have anything 'vegan' which means lots of fresh avocado and tomatoes added! The wet burritos are HUGE yet my favorite is the Sope- served fresh and warm. I have been here now weekly or more the last two months with consistent service and quality of food!
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mexican place in Eugene! The salsas are divine, the meat is fresh and nicely grilled, and the service is always sweet. They also have a nice seating area to give you the "street" feel, which is especially fun to sit in when the weather is nice!
google avatar

Brian E.

Yelp
I don't generally prefer food trucks, but still had to give El Buen Sabor a try. I was pleasantly surprised at their house-made tortillas and robust flavors. Props for that. On the downside, they bury their tacos in nasty, cold cabbage and their burritos are full of rice, with super skimpy portions of meat. Tasty, but the balance is wrong, just a big old carb fest. I'd rather pay a little more and get the proportions right, so I tried ordering a burrito with extra meat, but all I got was the privilege of paying extra. It's too bad, because this place could be great if they weren't trying so hard to fill you up with masa and rice. As it is, it's just okay.
google avatar

Courtney G.

Yelp
Buen Sabor serves authentic Oaxacan food...and Oaxacan food is the best in the world. Everything is delicious, service is great and the prices are reasonable. My favorite things to order are Memelas and Atole to drink in winter, Horchata in the summer. My hubby has been ordering the tostada lately. This is a place you recommend to all of your friends and co-workers.
google avatar

Ian C.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Eugene. The pork tacos are always spectacular and they have wonderful vegan options. The owners and employees are all very nice and the service is always great.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Oaxacan food. I am gluten free and I like to get the Blanca. It's kind of like a burrito but it's a giant corn tortilla. It's so delicious!

Hugo V.

Yelp
normalmente atienden bien, hoy entregan la comida con una cara que ni las gracias te dan.así ni ganas dan de volver
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
After hearing some recommendations from friends I had to try this awesome little joint. I had the carne asada memelas and a chicken taco. The memelas are out of this world. So tasty, the tortilla is slightly thicker and ideally shaped to eat. The meat was flavorful, the black bean paste added great texture and the toppings were fresh and all worked together. I especially liked the rojo salsa. It packed a subtle kick, nothing overwhelming. Would probably stay away from the tacos and go straight for the memelas if you've never had them. Reminded me of Southern California traditional and authentic mexican food. Nice people and very fairly priced. Would love to go back soon

Joey M.

Yelp
Wooo best Mexican by a long shot in Eugene. The tylayuda is my favorite, although i keep trying other things and they are all wonderful.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
This food stand did the job when my boyfriend and I were hungry and craving good authentic Mexican food. There is only one table and some small bar seats but you can definitely order to go. We both ordered the chicken sopes. You can't get different meats on each one and have to order one type of meat for the three sopes that come in a meal. The sopes were a good texture but I felt like it lacked seasoning and was a bit bland. It would have been nice it there was fresh avocado and tomato. The size of the plate was very large and we were super full when we were done. The prices are extremely reasonable which is really nice not to have to spend $12 for a meal every time you're hungry. I am eager to try some other things on their menu like their burritos and their nachos. Street parking is all there is here so you might have to park down the street and walk but probably not very far. If there's a lot of people it can take a while so be prepared to wait.

Annie S.

Yelp
Great food. Prices are super fair! The tacos are my favorite (asada and adobo) Branched out and tried the tostada and was a little disappointed with the lack of flavor in the re-fried beans. However, they add fresh avocado on top which you can't beat. It's no wonder it's always packed!

Cheryl B.

Yelp
Great little spot with authentic Mexican food and vegetarian/vegan options. Highly recommend! The queso Oaxaca is super fresh!

Ben M.

Yelp
Don't sleep on this place. It's delicious. You want authentic, you can have it here. There are only a few Mexican restaurants in Eugene I eat at. This is one of them. The pork is amazing.

Yelp
Best tacos in Eugene! Adobada tacos are spot on. Hand made tortillas. Why go to tacovore.
