Best New Bars in NYC: June 2025 | Eater NY

"If you’re looking for a cocktail bar that won’t break the bank, El Camino (from the team that brought you nearby Electric Burrito) is the new spot you should be after. Prices range from $13 to $15 for drinks like a coconut margarita, which, sadly, is worth celebrating in today’s world of cocktails that can hover above $20." - Emma Orlow

"From the team behind Electric Burrito, this East Village sit-down tapas bar features an approachable drinks list that keeps prices between $13 and $16 rather than pushing $20-plus martinis." - Emma Orlow

El Camino - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"The Electric Burrito team has a tiny empire locked down on the corner of 1st. Avenue and St. Marks. There’s their original location, late-night burger spot HighLife, and now El Camino for cocktails and tapas. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a very solid go-to for first dates. They focus on the classics, and the most expensive drink—a rye manhattan—is $17. The rest of the cocktails, like a coconut margarita, range from $13-16. It’s a small space, where dates at the bar chat over dirty martinis and some pretty great bar nuts, and dates at tables snack on sandwiches made with crunchy Balthazar bread and interesting fillings, like braised pork and olives. photo credit: El Camino" - Will Hartman

Daily Provisions Jersey City Adds a Polarizing Breakfast Sandwich | Eater NY

"A tapas bar project has its sign up at 135 First Avenue between St. Marks Place and Ninth Street. Alex Thaboua, Will Wyatt, and Edie Ugot have teamed up with developer Peter Kolinsky in filings to Community Board 3, submitting a 'snacky' menu that includes a mortadella plate, a Serrano ham platter, sardines, steak tartare, grilled cheese, a little gem Caesar, bucatini, and paella. EV Grieve reports the sign has gone up; Eater has reached out for more information." - Melissa McCart

If this place has no fans, I'm dead. Absolutely divine vibe (especially when the doors are open), incredibly solid drinks, and sleeper hits on the food menu (bury me with their chocolate chip cookie). The entire staff is lovely and so welcoming. It's a small space so my only disappointment is when I can't get a seat inside, but it deserves to be busy every night of the week!

What a gem! No plans of drinking but as soon I passed this gem I instantly turned back and went inside. Big open front with decent size bar. I always love to sit at bar. The bartenders were absolute sweethearts. Started off with draught beer and ended up with martinis. And oh boy ! When I say martini then this place makes some mean Vesper Martini. The bartender fetched a homemade vodka from below the counter and after that I had to uber back home. I just love this place ! It has a vibe!

Great drink spot. Can people watch while sipping fruity wine or chat the night away with your plus one. Would recommend for a drink and hang! Not too loud or big of a spot which is ideal!

Great new spot in the neighborhood — we stumbled upon it by chance on opening day. Loved the vibe, super friendly service, and really good food. It’s nice to find a place where good drinks and great food come together. Definitely makes you want to come back! Highly recommend!

Amazing date night spot. The coconut margarita was perfect 🤩 It pairs perfectly with the Ricotta and smoked salmon pate. Great addition to the neighborhood 😍

This is a perfect bar in every way. It’s unfussy and unefforted but nails all the things that make you want to stay there for hours. Data service, exceptional drinks, super tasty bites and the perfect cozy setting to people watch and pass the time. I’ll be back as often as possible.

I've lived the in the east village for 15 years and have been missing the true neighborhood bar-- the one that knows your name and learns your drink, is playing vibey music, and feels warm and inviting. El Camino nails it. Beautiful, small bar with a great, euro feel --weird art, open windows, incredible drinks, delicious small plates, and sweet service. I had a fantastic glass of white wine, perfectly-paired cheese plate with warm, crusty bread - Spanish olive oil and heard my favorite Rolling Stones song. LOVE!

Google
The food and bar snacks are top notch. Unfortunately the place was packed to the gills with frat types and it was so loud and obnoxious we couldn’t enjoy our food. If you’re going to have wine bar food you’d expect a wine bar vibe and noise level.

Yelp
Such a chic, casual, slightly French feel (especially when warm weather and windows all open) for a place to stop by for a bite or a drink. And if their amazing dessert chef has made pistachio cake, grab it! Perfect ambiance.

Yelp
I passed by this charming wine bar while biking down 1st Avenue (which I suppose is in fact the operative "camino") and made a mental note to return. It was overall a good experience, but slightly below my admittedly high expectations. I had a glass of orange wine, and we shared the bread and butter, patatas bravas, and hummus. I live in Brooklyn and naturally expect bread and butter at a wine bar to feature She Wolf bread, but this was pretty run of the mill sourdough. The patatas bravas were delicious, as they tend to be. A good option if you're in your 30s but find yourself in the East Village.

Yelp
A tiny place with strong drinks, tasty food, and a staff that will make feel like you've been coming here from day one. And, a unique feature: they have home-baked pies for dessert sliced big enough for two. I've been stopping in for a few weeks and loved it each time. I love to sit at the bar. But tables in the corner for a date are really cozy.
