I found a WORM in my oxtail. Absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable. I ordered oxtail with rice and beans, and while eating, I discovered a worm in the food. This wasn’t a bone, tendon, or seasoning—it was clearly a worm, and I have photos to prove it. This raises serious concerns about the cleanliness, food handling, and overall safety of this establishment. I stopped eating immediately and saved the food. To anyone thinking of ordering from here: please be extremely cautious. Check your food thoroughly before eating. Just because something looks cooked doesn’t mean it’s safe. I’m writing this review not out of anger, but to help protect others — especially families with kids, pregnant women, or anyone vulnerable. No one expects to find a worm in their food, but it happened to me, and it could happen to someone else.

Absolutely amazing! The home fries, scrambled eggs, and bacon were perfect. They packed it with about 8 strips of fresh, crispy bacon—opened it up and thought, 'My man!' Everything was delicious and generously portioned. I live in The Bronx, but I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing!!! Authentic dominican food @ its best !!! Truly one of the best Latin restaurants Outside of D.R. If you like or are accustomed to bland food this place is definitely not for you Anything you can think of from steak & onions to rotisserie chicken and everything in between . avoid this place @ or around lunch time because the lines are out the door . reasonably priced , a bit loud at times but overall a great atmosphere , fresh food , friendly staff , clean bathroom. Don’t park in the bus stop in the front of the restaurant, the ticket will cost you more the the food.

My partner went here n he didn’t like their customer service. Said the Man was very rude l, barely acknowledged him. The woman was nice n hospital. He got beef stew and rice. The food was bland. I ate some with him. Right off the back we did not enjoy it.

They have their own prices made up, their menu prices advertised is not their actual price. They have several menus in the restaurant including the one right above the cash register but charges you more and when I pointed out to the kid working there, he said they can’t control inflation and he can’t do anything about the prices. There was no manager on duty to assist so I’d have to come back when the manager is on shift. Ask the price before purchasing

Where most spots would decline in quality after soaring price increases, the food here is still very much as good as it was when I first set foot here back in my Senior year of High School. There's also a lot of variation with what they have so anything you're looking for, chances are they'll have that ready to order. Aside from the entrees, my highest recommendation goes to the plantains and empanadas. They're cooked so well and tender and not overdone like a couple other spots I know. Whenever you're in the South Ozone Park area and hungry for something, check this place out. I've been a regular here since 2006.

wonderful food. Amazing service coming with it. Everyone there are so very patient and kind with their customers. The food is like stuff i’ve never tasted before.

Everything is incredibly expensive. Any simple dish costs between $20 and $30; it's too much, and sometimes the food isn't very good. I like the restaurant. I've been ordering here for a while, but I can't stand the prices anymore. I've been to other Dominican restaurants, and they're not as expensive as here. They're way over the top with the prices. I don't recommend it.

I'm always get food from here when I'm in the area. Been visiting this eatery since 2007! The food is fresh, well seasoned and just like your grandma homemade dishes! The service is excellent and ambience is typical to walking into a restaurant in Dominican Republic !

Pernil is decent Rice a little hard and oily Soup was very salty, vegetables need to be cut smaller they are huge. Oxtail is also salty and very fatty Friendly service approx $15 a meal I do love the setup with the glass and organized food.

Definitely recommend you try this spot!! I recently ordered for a big event- for my sisters bridal shower and the food was on point!!! I definitely will be ordering from them again wether its just a lunch or catered food they are amazing! The food is tasty and the restaurant is super clean.

Great food! They have daily prepared food where you can choose from. All kind of meats, and rices. Try their pork or oxtail.

On a whim to find good Dominican food I stumbled upon El Campeon De Los Pollos. I called to make sure that they were open and if they delivered to my area. Much to my surprise they obliged my request. I ordered a large Pepper Steak with Yellow Rice, Beef Empanadas, and Yuca with Pickled Onions. They also included a side of beans. The steak was tender, the beans were flavorful, and the rice was seasoned just right. My entree was delicious. I was concerned with the size of the empanadas. They shouldn't charge $1.50 for what looks like the size of Barbie doll food. Also the yuca was terrible. It was extremely mushy and dry in certain areas that it disintegrated when I picked it up. I asked for yuca with pickled onions, but instead they placed them in two separate containers. The pickled onions were laughable. The container was so small that it didn't have enough brine to cover the onions. I can also tell that they made the pickled onions the moment I hung up the phone. You have to allow the onions to at least sit for an hour or 24 hours (if you're fancy). I ended up adding my own red onions and made a brine so that they were pickled to my liking.

prices r to high for little bit of food..been buying there 4 yrs. but will never go back due to those crazy prices not worth it.....

If my first experience was typical of the daily lunch rush lunacy, I'll be better equipt to run the steamed glass gauntlet upon my next arrival. It comes at you fast as bag weilding customers happily exit, some with a tune, some like a panicked Godzilla mob, running and ready to eat. Inside, I listened closely, (it being my first time and all so let's call it classic evesdropped to be more genuine) to the three individuals ordering in line in front of me. They all went with a similar lineup of a meat type, (the pork went two for three) a rice and a bean combo in some wet form and each came up from the metal trays ladeled deep and poured crossed crossed heavily and then the finishing palm press twist down, preventing escapes and packing in the layers of deluciousness. Pernil was my meat, brown rice and a cross between forest and pea green beans, which was basically what the Guyanaese gent ordered, all with pointing, so I did the same. Then the woman behind me begins to ask me questions, yet I was feeling the kitchens energy grove and the passionate loudness of those serving and the happiness of those spellbound by the aromas that they were to recieve. So much good energy, so much excitement from the people, the zest for life and love of food. It was boarding Space Mountain excitement -- while inside a the Copacabana -- that just so happened to be serving 50 dishes of the most comforting of comfort Spanish foods in Queens. Sizing the portion up, I figured I'd be good for a half and save the other half for later -- but after half way was quickly passed I thought to slow down -- but the fork was scooping deeper and then there was none. I realize that I've been flinging the 5stars around like nickels now, unlike the manhole covers that I used to throw, but I've been having some really great meals lately..

We ordered in delivery from El Campeon for a late lunch / early dinner. Our feast comprised of their combo #1 including rotisserie chicken, yellow rice, beans, & tostones, an order of mofongo with pork, oxtail stew, and a side of maduros. We placed the order directly with the restaurant and it was delivered within about 50 minutes of when the order was placed. Everything was good but our favorite item was the oxtail stew.

Where have you been all of my life El Campeon? For the locals, El Campeon might just be another great local staple for inexpensive and delicious spanish food, but to many non-locals (like myself), El Campeon is a spanish food lover's paradise. You name the spanish dish and they have it: beef stew, fried pork, goat stew, oxtail stew, pepper steak, roast pork, rotisserie chicken, stew fish, etc. Just listing their delectable lineup of meats just has my mouth watering like a shipwrecked sailor on a deserted island. As for the restaurant, it is indeed a no-frills type of joint. No fancy markings or decor, just a few tables, seats and cafeteria style ordering of food. Although the restaurant is devoid of any fancy shmancy look, the menu is the real deal with all that I mentioned above and a whole lot more. There are a plethora of appetizers and daily specials that will make your head spin! The daily specials cost about $7-$9 for medium plates and $10-$14 for large plates. Each special comes with a choice of white rice and beans / rice with pigeon peas / yellow rice and beans / fried plantains / sweet plantains / fried casava / boiled casava / french fries / salad. Do you need me to repeat that? Yes, you can select any one of those with your special so choose carefully. On our 1st visit to El Campeon, my fiance and I ordered 1 pernil with rice and peas and 1 beef stew with rice and peas. To be honest, we only asked for our orders to stay (without indicating whether we wanted medium or large) and the server plopped down a massive amount of food on the plates. After seeing the mountains of rice and meat that resembled Mount McKinley on our plates we swore we thought we had just overspent and had ordered larges, but how wrong we were. Our receipt indicated that the orders were only $7 each, which meant these enormous servings of food were just mediums! We're afraid to even see what a large plate of food looks like here, but we'll be sure to come back for that on a day we fast from morning till dawn. We know the servings are the size of human heads, but what about the flavor? If there's no flavor, then the serving sizes mean nothing. Well, let me just cut to the case, as the food hit the mark! The rice was warm, fresh and thoroughly cooked. The pernil was mostly juicy, fatty, and capable of causing a heart artery to clog, which is always a delight when eating pork. I won't lie as there were some dry pieces of pernil here and there, but it was all tasty. The beef stew was also very good as it was marinated really well and the plate was oozing with the stew sauce. We loved that the server took some of that sauce and poured it over the rice. The verdict? Need I say more? This is a must visit neighborhood spot that screams of what we all want when we're hungry --- inexpensive items, large portions, and deliciousness written all over it!

I found this place by accident and it has changed my life since. I've always been a fan of Spanish food, it literally rocks my taste buds! You always get a lot of flood, packed with flavor and great quality. It's buffet style line up, so you pick what you want. I asked for the fried whole fish, rice and beans, beans on top, and Sweet plantain... ONLY 13$ with a drink! WOW! So much food, and it was so good. The food was good I went back the very next day for the same meal! (don't judge me) Seriously, try this place... and try the passion fruit juice. Beware of the LINE....... can be lengthy!

The food here is how do you say good, wow, bad, slammin, delicious, bussin... Great selection of Caribbean dishes, all premise and ready to be devoured.

This tasted sooooooo good I got a medium and my mom asked me for some of course I had to share but now I want her serving back. The chicken was so tender and the soup was PERFECTLY seasoned. Just what I wanted. Needed.

Food is good but their prices are way too high. I understand economy has impacted businesses in a negative way but it seems like this restaurant is trying to make it all up at once.

I have frequented this establishment many times because as others have said the food was good in the past. My one star is due to their poor customer service skills. Do not expect to be treated with respect by the cashier. I ordered food for pickup on 07/01/19, which was Combo # 3 for $38. A relative picked it up in my place. The cashier told my relative that the cost of the food was $38. There was an error on my part for not giving the right information HOWEVER what the cashier proceeded to do is unacceptable. In a frustrated manner he went to look for a 'menu' to give to my relative. He shoved it in his face and told him to check the prices himself. As someone who has ordered food from this restaurant an infinite amount of times I would expect at the very least a modicum of respect. I have also recommended this establishment to anyone that lives in the area. I don't care how busy the place is- there is no reason to talk down to a patron. This behavior is bad for business. The sub par customer service skills that the workers exhibit along with the food [that has become mediocre at best] is not worth it.

The food was really good. Very flavorful but not salty. Was crowded but did not wait long at all. We have been looking all over Brooklyn for authentic Hispanic food and have been disappointed. We happen to drive by this place and decided to try it. Wow, we are going back. We found a lace that has food just like back home. It's like having dinner in Puerto Rico with out having to fly there. Yummy!,,,

To be honest the quality here has gone downhill. I used to love this place but its just not the same since pre covid. I recently ordered the chicharon de pollo but it came super dry and completely different consistency. It used to be breaded but not anymore. The flavor is good but just mediocre. Wish they would go back to how they used to be.

A hidden gem in south ozone park. Parking was very easy- I scored a spot right in front of the restaurant. The line was kind of long when we went and it stayed long even when we left. That's how you know this place is good. Despite the long line, everyone is waiting to get a delicious plate of food. This is a no frills establishment. You choose the food you want and it is cafeteria style. You pay for it, then sit by the tables and eat. It's pretty spacious with maybe 8 tables. Most people I've noticed take it to go. I had the rice and beans with carnitas. They put a HUGE heaping amount of rice and beans. It'll probably last me 3 more meals. My bf had their rotisserie chicken. I got to try some and it was good. The chicken wasn't dry, and the meat really fell off the bones (not sure if this is a term you use for chicken). Their tostones was on point! It has to be my favorite tostones. It wasn't dry but still crispy. Overall, a great spot for cheap and HUGE servings of food.

What a great find in ozone park! I came after work with my girlfriend for a quick, cheap and dirty meal. I got a half chicken with tostones and Maduras while my girlfriend ordered the rice and beans with carnitas. First of all you know you're getting a huge plate of food, enough to feed a family of 4. Second the prices are ridiculously cheap, definitely worth every penny. It can't get any better!

Yes!!!! I finally found an affordable Spanish restaurant with really good food.. Finally!!! El Campeon is like your neighborhood Spanish spot that can not be beat. Even if you are not a local you will come back. With all the varieties to choose from and the food is always fresh. I would have to say I frequented this place after my 1st time here and I always wind up trying a different dish. My go to's have been the stew chicken and barbecue chicken. They are always fresh. The barbecue chicken however is not always available. The lines are long but the service is fast, friendly and efficient. My spot for Spanish from now on.

Being a huge fan of ordering food behind a glass. El Campeon does it for me. Since I was first introduced to this spot all I think about is their pernil, stew chicken, yuka, pepper steak, soup, etc etc etc....... Prices are very good and they stuff your plate with food with no room to spare. Taking out or eating in you will not be disappointed. If you do plan on stopping by, be careful and review the parking signs as it can get a little tricky. I typically park around the street which you don't need to pay for street parking.

They have great variety here. The soups are amazing. Rotisserie chicken, rice, salad,, beans, beef stew. They also have fried fish like tilapia, red snapper made fresh. Very busy location, try to go earlier before they run out from food. They always have lines to order.

Tried this place for the first time. So glad I did. Just what I needed after a long days work. The beans are flavorful alone. The same for the rice and stew chicken. The passion fruit juice was so refreshing. Will be back

Omg we always order from this spot they have every Latin dish you could crave and great prices ! We ordered oxtail for my moms bday last week and boy did everyone love it .. we also had empanadas for the hour drive to my sisters home very good ... only thing I do have to say if you plan on going to this place there is always a lot of cara outside in front of it or double parked when picking up I always go with someone so one person can wait in the car and there is typically a line though it goes quickly

I placed my order online via their website at 4:15 pm. It's now 6:00 pm, and nothing. I'm barely a mile away from the location... Let me give them the benefit of the doubt... Nope! It's now 8:15 pm. I love given up. Very Unfortunate. Very disappointing. Didn't receive any further notice after a confirmation email of my order. (Minus 10 Stars)

Not to happy. Doesn't taste bad but I grew up in the neighborhood so I taste the difference in the food. A couple of years ago I would have slept outside to get some food from them. NOW.... The line you wait on to get this food should taste a lot better.

The best there is in queens. Best Spanish / Dominican food I've ever had Recommendations : Yellow rice with oxtail (beware, this sells out quickly) Pernil Stew beef Actually come to think of it, there's not one thing on the menu that isn't delicious. I come here twice a week for my fix.

Food was amazing! The beef stew was so juicy and tasty and the yellow rice was perfect. I highly recommend it.

Good solid food. I got the large steak with beans and rice and a side of avocado, tomato, cucumber salad. Fresh and seasoned nicely. Cool staff. All came up to $15.

Looked on Yelp to see what options I had in the area and this place popped up. Being from Puerto Rico , the food here is heaven! Just like abuela used to cook. Nice , clean atmosphere. Will definitely come back next time I am in town. The pernil and the tostones were delicious! God bless!

This food is great the only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because if u order delivery you don't get as great service or presentation in the food as you would if you ordered in store. This is my first time trying the salmon and OMG I'm in love. Steamed to perfection with the vegetables and then the side of beans is perfect. My favorite Spanish restaurant right now. Hands down.

I always order pickup because that line be CRAZY!!! That's how you know this place is DELICIOUS! I never have to wait long when I pick up also which is perfect. Most places you call and when you arrive you still wait 15-20 min which makes no sense but not here!!! Food is always yummy and prices are great! Oh btw I drive from Howard Beach to get this great Dominican food!!

Love coming here for the beef and chicken pastelitos and the fried boneless fried chicken . The rice and beans are amazing as well as the half chicken . This place usually is usually busy just like Triniciti that is right across the street from El Campeon. They are friendly and accommodating. I have to say I can get so much food here for just $20.00 . They are reasonably priced . You won't regret it

Love this place!!! Totally recommend coming to eat here. I've been coming to this restaurant ever since a I was a child and they have never disappointed me with their dishes. Took my boyfriend here not to long ago and he loved it.

Great Dominican food. The pernil (pork) is on point, ask for extra skin. This place also makes the best beans to go with any of their rices. Gotta try if your in queens looking for great spanish food.

I didn't know where I was going and my friend took me there. Did a to go order but had to try the empanadas in the car. Good food after a long day at work. Now I need a nap

DELIVERY is a speed of a turtle. We ordered food at 7:55 pm & it did not come as yet. We called at 8:50 to check on order they said its out for delivery. It's only a 10 min drive from where we live it shouldn't take so freaking long. We did not get out food till 9:03 pm but the delivery guy was very apologetic. So now for food aspect it was okay, it probably would have been more enjoyable if we had gotten in a more timely manner. Don't think we would order from here again it takes too long to get your food delivered.

Drove from the airport straight to get my PR/Dominican food fix. I got there around 10:30am and the food was all laid out. Everything looked amazing! I got white rice and beef stew (carne guisada), yellow rice with pigeon peas (arroz con gandules - a Puerto Rican staple), order of fried green plantains and empanada de carne. Everything was delicious! Tostones and empanadas were made when I ordered them - very fresh. My daughter ate up the entire serving of arroz con gandules (definitely getting it for myself next time). The beef stew and white rice was incredible. The meat was so tender! The roast pork looked so good too. I will definitely have to come back this weekend to try more things before I leave. Do yourself a favor and try this place. It is so good!!!

BEST Dominican food in queens hands down ! I've never ordered delivery, but every time I go they have a-loot of FRESH food to pick from & extremely quick service , no wait time (& for an extremely good price)

Came here few weeks ago and I was sure by some of the pictures but the food tasted fresh and had a good quality of flavor.

Mediocre food. The rice portion was huge but the meat portion was only fair. The pernil was a little dry and tuff but the skin was tasty and crispy.
