The food tastes rotten, literally rotten. And I got a second and third opinion and we all agree that the food is rotten! Shame on you! We were going to feed our kids this food and they refused to acknowledge!!

The friendliest, most accommodating service! They went out of their way to please the cranky, tired and sleepy toddler! As a result, toddler was happy! Mofongo con camarones is da 💣! Definitely worth the trip, even from the city. Tripe soup was pretty decent as well. All in all, Castillo is definitely worth visiting.

There's more and more fancier type of restaurants in this neighborhood where they give you a little something for an astronomical price. Then there is this spot, which gives you lots of Dominican food without pretensions and it's cheap. If you are looking for some good tasty food and want to sit down and have a meal, you can't go wrong here.

They have got Dominican dishes, rotisserie chickrn, beef stew, rice n beans etc. The food is ok. The service is so so, nobody is going to understand you, dont expect a lot, just point at something and hopefully you'll get it. The last few times I went there they got my orders wrong, I asked for well done chicken, I got the most under cooked piece. I have asked for beef gravy, I have gotten chicken. Good people, they mean well, they just dont understand you.

Absolutely disgusting i basically order rice for 10 with i asked was pernil not fat but what did i go with a gross piece of fat a enough rice to eat for 2 days they are extremely racist towards black ppl ..white and Spanish ppl they treat with kindness black ppl come in they are cold and dismissive...im tired supporting others races that want my mind but cant respect as a human being because my hue is black...over it, it 2023 not standing for ..they place is terrible...

I ordered chicken , rice and beans. Chicken came cold and salty.even I told the waiter chicken is cold. She dam doesn’t care what I said.and When I ask for napkins , waiters doesn’t care about napkins too.service was so bad.I have to ask them twice for napkins.this is really not good experience.I don’t know how they run the business here.If there is 0 star ⭐️. I will give them 0.

As a Latino whenever Im in NYC and I’m craving for my rice & beans, plantains, mofongo and stewed chicken I come to this place. This is like home away from home type of food. I always come during the lunch time. Great service.

Great food and affordable prices. I ordered a small sancocho soup and a cod fish lunch special that comes with rice and beans. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Everything tasted good, my only complain was that the cod fish was cold. They keep all the food on hot plates but somehow this was cold. I was full by the time I finished the sancocho so I didn’t bother telling the waitress and had it to go.

Super bomb! Food was great! Service helpful! Order chicarron de pollo bone in and boneless, mofongo de cerdo, steam cassava, white rice/ red beans. All 10/10.

I haven't been here in years. The food looked good so I decided to get a little something. It's really loud so it kind of hard to communicate with the server. Everything looked yummy so I ordered some of my favorites. 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken it was moist with a subtle flavor White rice and Beans - good 1/2 pernil - for me it lacked flavor but my mom enjoyed it. You must know the menus are near the register so make sure you check the price of what you want. They basically overcharged me for my food and I didn't realize it until I was in my Uber on the way home. not sure if I'll come back.

Neighborhood spot. Cheap, plentiful & good. On any given day there are three types of chicken, roasted chicken, stew chicken, barbecue chicken, baked chicken, etc. Almost everything I've had here has been good. I like to order off the comidas calientes. That is the food ready to go, right on display. It is read & you can see what is moving fast. In this place; the chicken! But I used to order their Bistec en Salsa ( trying to be 100% vegan but the struggle is real!). Opened almost every major holiday at least half the day. This place can be clutch

The decor in here is kind of kitschy lol. When I walked in and saw those steam table buffet things I knew the meat was going to be good. The jerk chicken was so tender and flavorful, as was the pernil. But the most unbelievable thing was their homemade hot sauce. Holy shit is that stuff so freaking spicy! But it was so good that even though I was crying, I couldn't stop eating it! Service was great.

Wonderful people great food amazing experience if your ever in the flatbush area this restaurant is a must try.

Definitely the worst Dominican spot I've had ever. My first mistake was ordering delivery. I asked the lady for a medium bowl of white rice, beans and stewed beef. What I got was a full plate of tasteless orange rice (literally tasted like paper. Where is the orange coming from if not seasoning?); wet, soggy beans; and a full plate of bones and inedible fat and cartilage. I was charged $16 for a full meal of bullsh!t. Will never return. Would recommend avoiding.

On vacation in NYC and my usual spot is way up in the Bronx--this place blew me away! The beef stew is my favourite by far! I essentially have been ordering food from here every 3 days since arriving in the city in April, the quality never disappoints because you can tell it's made with love.

I ordered the Pork Chop with Rice and beans with a small side salad. Everything made with love. Better than my wife's cooking! Service was great, everyone has a welcoming spirit.

I'm fond of this establishment. The staff members provide exceptional customer service. I enjoyed the bold flavors and variety of their Latin/ Dominican dishes. This restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere which defines my experience at El Castillo De Jagua, located at 679 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11225. I would like to commend the staff members and the owner, Mr. Giovanni, for their dedication to providing great food, a friendly atmosphere, professional manner and providing a swift response to my concerns. This place is my go to when I am specifically craving a Dominican breakfast. It's so damn good. So much food for $8 bucks! You get 2 eggs (I like them medium/jammy), mangu (mashed green plantain), fried cheese, salami, and is topped with pickled onions. It's traditional! This can easily feed 2 people. I divide this into 2 hefty meals since the mangu is so filling. It's a no frills place. The staff are friendly and they have a vast menu. They do not offer indoor dining and don't have outdoor seating. Please support this local business! Their food is tasty and hot! Please remember to stay hydrated and healthy. Castillo Castillo! Food tastes so nice, have to say it twice! We ordered here for a late lunch and everything was well seasoned, hot and perfectly flavored. It really tastes homemade and the servings are very filling. All of the food in the window buffet is good. The chicharonnes, pernil and the spaghetti is also good a standout. The pasteles are chicken or pork and are amazing. They are not skimpy with the meat in the pasteles. The pepper steak is tender and pairs well with white rice and beans. Definitely worth going to because the food is really that good.

The food here at El Castillo is delightful! I visited this restaurant during the early evening of September 12, 2022. To satisfy my craving for Spanish food. Boy, am I glad they did not disappoint. From the warm reception to their willingness to serve the customer with "a gladness of heart" mentality. Every bit of my experience was greatly met. Furthermore, the food just simply tastes good! Needless to say, I've enjoyed purchasing their cuisine and will continue to do so in the future. I'm truly happy to have witnessed their desire. Ordered the paella for two! Massive! Literally walked out with a tray haha. They quoted about 35 min to make but it actually took closer to 50 min but now I see why haha. Is it the best paella? No! But man the value is so good here. Can't wait to try some of the other items. Also note that it's cash only

The food is really delicious here. Can't go wrong with chicken, rice and beans with some maduros. YUM! The service is very good. You're in and out fairly quickly, and the prices are great! You can feed a whole family for $30.

You know that food that brings you joy? The food that reminds you the food is love? That food is family? That food is community? This is that food. Wandering into this restaurant after a very late night for a rather early breakfast, made made me realize that I wasn't going to eat breakfast at all, I was going to eat empanadas. A throwback to my college years, when my best friend and roommate used to make her Puerto Rican grandma's recipe for the household. I had a carne and a queso. I thought about them both all day. The flavor of the beef empanada was to die for. The service staff keep telling us to have a seat and stay a while, to enjoy ourselves. That's just what we did. In fact, in my four days in Brooklyn, we ate there for two breakfast servings. Before we drove home, we got some food to go. I had plantains, mofongo, every kind of empanada, and rice and beans. It was all killer and each time we were greeted with a smile. Next time I'm in the area I will surely visit this little gem again!

Castillo is my go to spot for when I want to get a quick meal on a budget! They're all day lunch specials have come in so clutch when I don't want to break the bank. I usually go for the $6 rice, beans, and baked chicken!

AMAZING! Open practically ALL day, from 7am to 12 am, everyday. This neighborhood jem should be everyone's go to for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food is delicious and abundant The staff is attentive and good humored The dine in area is super clean and perfect for any fans of armor, medieval weaponry and/or castles The coffee is really good and strong They offer free delivery in the neighborhood In addition (you might want to sit down before reading this): 2 eggs any style, toast (or grits) and home fries =$3.50, with meat $5.50 Spanish omelette with home fries = $5 Side of tostones or maduros $3 Rotisserie chickens are $8 whole, $4 half A big green salad with avocado=$5.50 There are dinner specials and lunch specials starting at $6, there are full family meal specials for under $20. Discovered this place while walking in the neighborhood searching for lunch. This place totally fit the bill. Did not realize how spacious it was inside. They really stuck to that castle team decoration even down to the bathroom. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I ordered stewed goat while the hubby got chicken along with plantains and rice and beans. Dishes were both satisfying. Lunch came in large portions so much so that we packed it and ate the next day. Their drinks are not bad either. The best part was that our lunch was under $10. Can't beat in our neighborhood.

El Castillo is a really welcome and needed addition to Flatbush/PLG. There arent many spanish or Latin restaurants around here. So their rotisserie chicken, rice and beans, plantains and stewed meats are very welcomed. They have some TV's and seating for about 25 but I think of it as more of a takeout place with lots of seating. The staff there are incredibly friendly. Like reallly really friendly. Makes you want to come back

I love this place. It's in our neighborhood and it's the perfect diner (pancakes, BLTs), but with more interesting choices (mofongo!) than any ordinary American diner. The batidos are wonderful, light and not too big, as is the morir sonando. Love the pernil. Excellent mofongo! Lovely service. Gem.

Ordered fried fish, normally would be tilapia and it's typically boneless (I've never ordered fried fish from a Spanish restaurant and it have bone in) waitress didn't mention it would be bone in so that was definitely unexpected. We also ordered a side of spaghetti, tostones and fried maduros. I asked for the garlic sauce to go with the tostones and I'm not sure what they gave us but it for sure was not garlic sauce. There's also a difference btwn Hispanic spaghetti and regular and it did not taste like the Hispanic version. It's just so disappointing esp from one Hispanic to another, this food wasn't authentic at all, not even close. The other dishes might be good but based on this experience I wouldn't know as I do not have any intentions of returning.

I was craving a grilled pork chop. I love when a Dominican restaurants makes a bomb Pork Chop. This was hor-ri-ble. I did an Uber eats to my job and I was so excited. The pork chop was burned on the entire edge. Burned pork chop, not charred. This ruin the possibility good flavor that I can sort of decipher under the burned chop. Don't burn pork chops. Be mindful of your grill.

Delicious Dominican food if you want to try. Alway fresh/warm foot. No long wait times.

This is my go to spot, breakfast, lunch, dinner you name it, however today was the worst! Service was extremely horrible. I don't know where they got these new servers from but send them back!!! Seriously! I ordered something simple, eggs over easy, homefries and toast. Eggs were fried hard, coffee cold, 20 homefries and the toast was hard as hell. It will be a while before I come back again.

They definitely got a new chef with totally different recipes and styles. Not bad but definitely not the same. The alcapurias I'm not even sure what in the world they were thinking but it's definitely not what it was or should be. I'm so disappointed. Although not terrible it's not what I was expecting. White rice is hard to mess up so can't say anything about that but the red beans are not even flavored. Tastes like beans without seasoning or love. Fried Pork chops taste bland also. No where near how seasoned and perfect they used to make them. Yuca with onions was good the tres leche cakes were NOT THE SAME. What kind of cheap budget they have now? The chicken Asopao is delicious in flavor but only if you want to actually eat oil soup. It's literally all oil. I was so loyal and ordered a lot at a time and after spending almost $100 I can honestly say I will never waste my time again and stick to the Rodriguez Cabaña on Flatbush or Mi Candelaja Coney Island area. I'm so disappointed.

Love this authentic Dominican restaurant... the food is always fresh and the flavor is always home. All dishes are delicious and the cleanness of the restaurant is always on point . In addition the price is right for the amount of food you received. Last but not least the owner always makes you feel welcome and right at home. All the employees are courteous and friendly.

This place is ok. Food was decent but nothing too spectacular. I came for mangu with cheese and eggs but they had run out, which hopefully is a good indicator that their mangu might be the thing to eat here. I had tostones with eggs and cheese, the portion size for the tostones was very generous but the eggs and the cheese were not as plentiful. I had a batida de mamey which was very delicious and tres leches which was also just ok. While the waitstaff was very friendly the meal time was prolonged by the amount of time we waited between courses for our waitress to check in with us and the wait for the check was also quite lengthy. With so many competitors in the area I am unlikely to return.

I am a home cook (I cook a lot at home). I enjoy mostly my own food; however, this restaurant makes the most delicious Spanish food at the absolute best price. The combos are the best and you get so much food. Combos are dor take out or delivery. I'm never disappointed. They even have cold salads (octopus salad, egg salad and cod fish salad). They have the food in steamers ready to go and lunch specials. You can sit down and eat or take out.

YUM! This is a great neighborhood spot for delicious rotisserie chicken, rice & beans, plantain, etc. I know most people get take-out but the restaurant does have a decent seating area in the rear, with table service. It's definitely a casual place but the decor is attractive and the bathrooms are clean. The "castillo" theme is pervasive, with armored knights, swords, coats of arms and rough tile evocative of a castle wall. The rotisserie chicken is tasty and moist, the tostones got two thumbs up from the family and my pork mofongo was really delicious. It's great to have a family-friendly super casual place to dine in the neighborhood.

They have a huge variety of lunch special. They have chicken, pork and etc. Different rices, black beans and red beans. It feels like a buffet with so many choices. It is clean and the food was amazing. I paid $7 for roasted chicken, sweet plantains and rice with pigeon peas. It is a must try if you are around the area. The food is already prepared so no waiting in line... so if you are starving go here! Amazing food!

Looking for affordable breakfast near my job and found this place on yelp. I was immediately greeted upon walking in which was nice. I was there pretty early so they were setting up the food on the buffet and everything looked fresh and the area around the food was very clean. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon. It came with home fries and toast. Adding on a coffee my total was $6. The gentleman helping me was kind enough to even prevent me from getting a ticket when he saw the meter maid coming. Umm hello! Of course they get five stars! Once I got back to work and got to eat my platter everything was good and I was pleased. Definitely going to be my new spot.

Visiting from out-of-town stepped in for a quick bite to eat before we head back home to Upstate New York. It's wonderful to be able to satisfy your taste buds and wet your appetite with some delicious comida criolla. Not touristy, so THAT was a plus for us. I had the mofongo relleno de carne de cerdo and jugo de parcha (passion fruit juice)

You can fins me here 2-3 times a week. A working man can come here and get the food they need to power through the rest of the day at a GREAT VALUE. This is comfort food for the neighborhood.

Only one visit here, but was very impressed. Friendly and efficient service, everything tasted homemade and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. You can get a basic chicken and rice plate for$6.95, which is basically street food pricing. My wife, who is on a diet, was able to get a nice green salad and steamed vegetables, while my son enjoyed the hearty quality of their chicken soup. If I lived in the area I'd probably be picking up rotisserie chicken and sides 2-3 nights a week. Why cook?

Coffee eggs bacon and yucca!!!! Breakfast Win!!! The yucca is soft and dense not crispy, I love it!!! The eggs were mostly over medium...I'm not that picky. The people are nice and it's comfortable. And affordable! Can't wait to come back and try the Mofongo!!! I wish the bathrooms were gender-neutral... Single stall so no reason to put king or queen on the door.

Had a hard time deciding what to get because everything looked good. I ended up getting the baked chicken, arroz con ganules (rice and peas) and platano maduros (soft, sweet, fried plantains). My sister ordered the pernil & arroz con gandules. The food was well seasoned and not dry. We both enjoyed our food and were looking at the menu to see what we would get on our next visit. There is Spanish music playing just loud enough to hear. You can have a conversation without having to talk loudly in here. Will be back here soon.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL. Home cooked, nothing else quite like it in the neighborhood. Always consistent 04.01.2017 BACK AGAIN!!!!!!!!! I just want to sit here and eat all damn day that's how good this home cooked food is. Home fries are perfect, bacon done right and the sweetest employees in the neighborhood.
