40 Affordable Places to Eat in NYC

"This new Guerreran Bronx bodega and carryout — the name means “the dandy,” a Day of the Dead figure smirking from the awning — offers all the usual antojitos like tacos, quesdillas, and picaditas, but also some less usual things like chicharrones preparados and some oddball snacks like pepinas locos: cucumber cups filled with nuts and candy." - Robert Sietsema

A Tasty Food Trek Through Mott Haven, in the Bronx | Eater NY

"I found a new Mexican taqueria and grocery run by owners from Guerrero where two cooks work while a clerk sells food from behind a counter; beyond the usual tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, and flautas, they offer snacks and desserts like chicharrones preparados (a giant rectangular wheat cracker topped with cheese, chiles, and chorizo) and pepinas locos (cucumber cups filled with peanuts, candies, and other items). Knowing the masa would be hand-patted, I ordered the picaditas ($4.75), a ridged sope popular in Guerrero, and got lengua and campechano (chorizo and carne asada) — they were supremely tasty, especially dribbled with the bright orange chipotle hot sauce, and the masa was super creamy." - Robert Sietsema

I’m pregnant. I love this spot. Today was my first day ever trying their food. It was really good. There was absolutely no seasoning on the chicken but the spicy orange sauce makes up for it. I love it so much I’m pregnant.
