El Ermitaño

"El Ermitaño is accessed by a minor road flanked by market gardens and fields of corn, a setting which reaffirms the gastronomic, cultural and family legacy of this aristocratic country house which retains close links with its surroundings and boasts an adjoining hermitage dating back to 1775.The Pérez brothers (Pedro Mario and Óscar Manuel), who look for contentment in even the smallest of things and who, in their own words, “cook what we are”, remain loyal to their history, their heritage and to their different yet complementary personalities. The à la carte features the restaurant’s signature dishes (don’t miss the cured meat “canutillos” or the delicious roast baby lamb) as well as creative seasonal recipes, alongside four menus dedicated to their children (Raúl, Félix, Lara and Marta). The “blind” wine pairings with dinner are also particularly interesting." - Michelin Inspector

What an incredible meal. The restaurant is in an old hermitage (hence the name) and the grounds are really nice. The building is old and appropriately decorated in honour of its history, but the food is modern and delicious. With the degustation, there are some choices for meals you can make and the wines are matched to each specific dish, a great touch that worked really well. A well deserved Michelin star.

We visited El Ermitaño Restaurante while traveling to the north part of Spain with some members of my family. It was a huge surprise having found such a restaurant in the middle of our route. We ordered some dishes from the traditional menu which we shared. I highly recommend Carrilleras. It was a delicacy, executed to perfection and with a different twist from all the others I’ve tried in Spain. The surrounding are also something amazing with a beautiful building and garden. Incredible experience. I will repeat for sure!

I truly recommend eating here. If you are on your way to madrid and you happen to pass by, don’t doubt stoping. It makes you feel as if you were in a truly and authentic Spanish place. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great! 100% recommended.

Unfortunately we were super disappointed with the food. The menu was extensive, yet only filled with very strong flavours like horse, foie gras, tongue, intensities, etc. Nothing is traditional— the food transported me out of Spain which is not something I intended. You can get better tapas, traditional dishes, etc at any place in town or at thousands of other places in Spain. The staff was nice, but unfortunately the food tasted terrible. Really, no other way to put it but terrible tasting, even if you are an extremely adventurous eater.

Great food and service. Lovely ambience. Creative dishes executed perfectly. They have a permanent menu and a seasonal menu. Dessert was fabulous. Price according to quality and style. Will definitely go back as soon as I am in the area. Booking recommended.

Massive place, completely overrated. The relationship between quality, price and quantity is not good at all, some dishes are delicious some are normal and some average, the price is quite high and the quantities quite small, I will not go back for sure. They recommended Cecina with Foei. 27+€. It looks very nice to take a picture but an excellent Cecina completely erase the taste of the Foei, an unfortunate mix of two delicious ingredients. The Carrillera was superb as well as the salad, simple but with wonderful local ingredients. I have eaten better Cow tong but it was acceptable. It is no doubt too expensive for what they give you, I can pay more for a small portion if it is exceptional otherwise I am disappointed. I was mostly disappointed here
