El Fogón

"It's not just about classic tortillas stuffed with various types of meat here. Instead, this taqueria also offers more complex dishes that are always worth considering. The fogoncito bistec is a house specialty heaped with beef, bacon, chorizo and melted cheese.Frequented by both locals and tourists alike, this place is typically crowded but the service is prompt, so you won't be waiting too long. Paddle fans up above keep things cool while you work up an appetite." - Michelin Inspector

Just WOW. This, this right here, is why you come to Mexico! Absolutely outstanding food and service, and the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in Mexico! We ordered a whole slee of things to try and they were all great. The surprise star of the show for me was the pork chop on the House Special plate even though I am taco enthusiast. I can't believe I have never been here before but will definitely be back!!!

Hands down the best taco joint in Playa Del Carmen. I don't think anyone will be able to change my mind on this. On a previous trip, I ended up going twice within 3 days. On my most recent trip, it was the first place I went when I got back into town. Not only are the prices extremely reasonable, the flavours are unmatched. They just do it better at El Fogón. I personally enjoy getting a variety of tacos as opposed larger menu items (like quesadillas or burritos) because I like enjoying all the different flavours they have to offer. Their guac is also incredible. Don't pass up on their margaritas either - they're massive and delicious! I'm not lying when I say that I associate El Fogón synonymously with Playa del Carmen. I can't go to Playa del Carmen without El Fogón and I can't go to El Fogón without going to Playa del Carmen. Can't wait to go back!

The Sirloin Taco and und Al Pastor Taco were amazing. Sirloin Beef is tender, finely cut and crispy, I had to reorder 3 times. My girlfriend called me a madman 😄 You get Pico de Gallo, spicy guac (muy rica), salsa and pickled chilies as a side. Highly recommend! Best sirloin and al pastor on our trip to Mexico so far! On the picture you can see „plain“ nachos, chorizo taco (red) and al pastor gringos „taco loco“ on the menu. Sadly no picture of sirloin taco. But be prepared that it can be a little foggy because of the grilling. We liked it because it built athmosphere!

El Fogón is hands down one of the best meals we had in Playa del Carmen. It’s just a short walk from the touristy Fifth Avenue, but it feels like a totally different vibe in the best way. Don’t let the location fool you, they treat you like a local the moment you walk in. They offer menus in both English and Spanish, and even when the place is packed (which it often is), the staff is super attentive and friendly. The service is quick, the energy is great, and the food? Absolutely delicious. Everything tasted authentic and full of flavor, this is the kind of place you go to when you want the real local experience. If you’re visiting Playa, do yourself a favor and walk a few blocks off Fifth Avenue. El Fogón is 100% worth it. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

This is the Mexican food I would like to eat every day. Super delicious and juice meat is being served in various combinations. Just the guacamole is worth a visit. Been here several times and I have never been disappointed.

El Fogon is one of the most recommended restaurants in Playa and the first stop during our vacation. I had really high hopes but it just did not live up to the hype. I ordered the pastor tacos and pastor nachos but they were both just mediocre. Don Sirloin’s pastor tacos had much more flavor and were juicier too.

This place was suggested to us and we had to try it out. We were extremely pleasant with everything here. Their tacos were bomb and service was great. If you’re looking for good tacos in playa, y’all need to check them out.

Absolutely amazing experience. The food was incredible and hands down our best meal in Playa. Best margaritas too. Very affordable. 3 margaritas, a soda, two tacos and fajitas was around $50 USD. We have two more dinners in Playa and this is the only place I want to go.
