El Fuego Restaurante - Review - East Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Next to the margaritas, the best thing about El Fuego is the massive outdoor space—perfect for parents with small children, because those horses need room to gallop. On any given night, you’ll see lots of dads ordering from the walk-up counter outside and moms corralling toddlers from the fenced-in backyard once their quesadillas and tacos arrive at the table. There’s live music on the weekends, including a band that carries extra guitar picks so your child can be an honorary member. Go with a group so you can split a pitcher of those margaritas, snack on queso and guac while your kids play, and get a big spread of pupusas and birria tacos served with an extra rich consomé." - Adam Sloan

The Eater Margarita Map: Where to Drink Margaritas in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Look to El Fuego just down Gallatin Pike for expansive patio seating plus house margaritas that are always just $5.99. The Suave frozen margarita is just $2 more and can be twisted with jalapeno, mango, or strawberry. El Fuego also has several other margarita options, including a skinny and hibiscus. Jose Merchan first opened this popular Latin American restaurant in 2018 and quickly grew the dedicated following that sent them packing to the larger space in 2020." - Bailee Mulder

The Best Margaritas in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"The chill Magazine Street taco house doesn’t take short cuts. All of the margaritas are made with fresh squeezed juice, as nature intended. On tap at the bar, Del Fuego’s margaritas are beyond potent. Slurp outside overlooking the streetscape or in the cozy back patio." - Beth D’Addono

Seems like quite the nice place, decor was good and I very much enjoyed the interior of the greenhouse. I had the Al Pastor tacos and they were quite good however the portions did not satisfy totally. Was part of a somewhat large group and it took a while to get my order in. Seems like the staff didn’t know what to do with our group. We were seated outside on a chilly night and I was not totally prepared that. Service of the food was quick. Once again seems like a nice spot, but I can’t say I was totally satisfied.

Very good vibes. Good to note there’s parking on each side of the restaurant. Service could have been better, however overall it was a great experience to hang with friends.

It was simply delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. We’ve been in Nashville for several days and this was by far the best meal we’ve eaten since arriving. Quick and fabulous service, best guacamole I’ve had and a huge helping of food. My husband and I both took half of our plates back to the hotel for a snack later.

Google
Best Mexican food in east Nashville! Love the queso and Alambres is amazing! Get this once a week if I can.

Google
The food was good! We were freaking starving and it was a Saturday night so it was a bit busy. We had to wait to be sat and then had to wait a bit for our food which is totally understandable but I should’ve had a snack before I go there. The chips and salsa were good as was the guac, but the guac is low key sweet and I kinda prefer salty. I have heard the margs are really good but unfortch I was down bad and couldn’t try it I’ll have to come back

During a recent trip to Nashville, our friends took us to this restaurant our first night there because of their amazing margaritas. Very cozy setting with a warm and upbeat vibe. The staff was very responsive and quick. If you are looking for a delicious and pretty strong margarita definitely go with the classic frozen. The chips and queso were a great start to the meal. We had couple different burritos and enchilada plates and all of them were excellent. We will definitely go back next time. We’re in town to their fantastic margaritas again!

Google
This is a good Mexican restaurant with usual basic Mexican food. The fresh lime margaritas were very good and very reasonably priced at $5.99. The queso was also very good. I ordered fresh guacamole which was never brought to me. I also ordered fajitas which were ample in size but the taste was ordinary compared to some other Mexican restaurants to which I’ve been. The worst part of the dining experience was that the air conditioner was not working, and it was very hot and uncomfortable. Maybe everything would have seemed a notch better if the restaurant had been cooled properly.

Google
The food and atmosphere were amazing. Our dogies were welcomed in the greenhouse which was nice and warm in the winter. Layla provided excellent service and conversation. I order al pastor tacos which were amazing with the pineapple flavor. I would definitely recommend El Fuego any time for you and your furry friends. 🐾🐾💕

Yelp
great mexican food and INCREDIBLE outdoor seating. what a vibe!! Patio and outdoor seating is first come first served so i definitely recommend coming with a friend so they can snag a table while you order! Food is delish, sangria is AMAZING and the ambiance is so worth the wait. lots of vegetarian options and decently priced.

Yelp
The patio is an amazing vibe! You almost feel like you're on vacation. Great food & great prices! Overall, I would highly recommend. I went on a Friday around 6:30pm. It was a 20-30 min wait for a table inside for 3 people, but we wanted to sit outside. Outdoor seating is first come first serve, and there were already several groups standing around waiting for seats. We waited about 45 minutes to an hour for a table in the greenhouse area. The food was delicious! We got the El Fuego Special, Santa Fe Chicken, and the Burritos East. The portions were smaller than other Mexican resultants I've been to, so we all cleaned our plates. Like others have said, the Burritos East are small, so I would recommend adding a side of rice & beans. Also, we expected the El Fuego Special and Sante Fe Chicken to have a lot more queso on top. For drinks, we tried the Hibiscus margarita and the House margarita. Both were pre-batched at the bar. The margaritas are very strong! The queso and salsa were both AMAZING! The queso has a little bit of a kick. The guacamole was just okay. It was very creamy, which I loved, but it didn't have much flavor.

Yelp
People rave about this place because of their cute patio, but I think that might be the only real appeal. I ended up sitting inside because the weather wasn't great, so I didn't get to sit on the cute patio that people talk about. Our server was hard to get a hold of for refills or to order, and we realize she rang up our order wrong when we got our bill at the end (she did end up fixing it luckily). I ordered the steak quesadilla, which was pretty good except for the random piece of fish I found in it (thankfully I'm not allergic to seafood). The rice and beans that came on the side of it were cold when they got to the table. Overall, the food was okay, but there are so many better Mexican restaurants in the area with better service.

Yelp
The outdoor vibes of this place are super cool. Unfortunately the food was mid at best. I got the Grilled Shrimp Quesadilla for $9 it was small but buttery and cheesey..just didn't fill me up and was pretty plain (would be great for a child). My partner got the grilled shrimp tacos which he also said were lacking much of anything. The chips were a bit stale tasting as well. The salsa was nice and fresh though! The house margarita was mid but expected for the $5.99 price point. Would maybe return for the outdoor seating/vibes, staff all nice!

Yelp
OMG, amazing food! They were shorthanded yet the waitress that took care of us absolutely was hustling. Did her job. My husband had the birrio tacos. They were absolutely amazing the sauce on there and the flavor was exceptional. My girlfriend and I shared the chimichanga and we had it with steak and chicken. They were both very tender very tasty. The beans were extremely good. The Mexican rice was off the hook very flavorful, cooked perfectly. My girlfriend's husband had the Fuego special, he chose the shrimp oh my gosh, the cheese or whatever sauce was in the Mexican rice was absolutely fabulous shrimp perfectly cooked. I don't think you could order a bad thing at this restaurant. The drinks were amazing. Their margaritas look delicious. A must come back if we ever visit Tennessee again, El Fuego Restaurant, five stars in my book. Beautiful decor inside of the restaurant nice and cool nice layout.

Yelp
El Fuego was really good! The atmosphere was cozy, service was amazing and food tasted delicious. I got the Burria tacos and they were super yummy. I also got the house margarita which you could tell was made in house. I will say the burritos were extremely small, so if you're like my boyfriend and can eat a lot, don't get the burritos.
google avatar

Yelp
The best local Mexican spot! The vibes on the outside patio are great and they even have live music. When you sit outside you have to order at the bar, but the line moves quick. Food was great. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The patio here is very cute and a great way to soak up with sunshine during the warmer months. It's a seat yourself and order at the bar style on the patio as opposed to the regular service that you would get inside. The food was good and relatively cheap for the quality. The drinks were also good, we got a mango and a classic margarita and then a paloma and a hibiscus margarita. The issue was the disorganization when it came to bringing food. We ordered two steak tacos and one cheese quesadilla. No modifications were made and we were given a number to put at our table. It took a long time for the food to come more than once during the wait someone came up and tried to deliver food that wasn't ours, so much so that she had to get a manager to come and make sure the food wasn't ours. We explained to the manager what we ordered and then it was brought to us. Once we got our food things were fine. Would be back but just would anticipate some hiccups. I would check it out but make sure you have a lot of patience the day you go.

Yelp
I would like to file a public complaint. I showed up for a normal Mexican dinner and after 7 margaritas I had the time of my life. Everyone should El FueGO to this restaurant. The patio is definitely the spot to be and the margs are both delicious and dangerous.

Yelp
The food never disappoints. Taste is flavorful and yummy. They have great attentive servers. The atmosphere wasn't a big vibe but it's a cute spot. Family friendly and plenty of space. Parking is chaotic but at least there is a semi large parking area and it's free. The queso and salsa flowed and the margs were tasty. Oh and it's not expensive so yayyy.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the breakfast tacos and they made me very sad. The eggs were really dry and the potatoes had no taste. Our food didn't come out at the same time and also took forever to even come out. I will not be coming back.

Yelp
1/26/2025 The owner of the restaurant is very rude and tries to make it seem like you haven't paid your tab. ok so we had a big party the young Lady had only worked there for 2 days . She did a great job and the owner mad her cry in front of us and took our tab which she had separated as we ask and put them all together and tried to demand a credit card. That didn't happen. So we all paid separately and then he tried to say one tab wasn't paid and they did pay him before I paid. So when the receipt was shown he tried to say a drink wasn't paid for. Do Not go here the Owner is very rude to customers and his staff.

Yelp
Stopped by here with a buddy the other day while picking up some specialty tequila at a nearby Liquor store, to add to my collection. Anyway, we came by here for lunch. I had the verde enchilada with beef strips on top. Which was good. I was craving Chili Verde or Carnitas, but that wasn't on the menu. This place is more of a place to get combination plates and not the place to get classic Mexican food like Mole, carnitas, etc. but it was good.

Yelp
Visiting Nashville from NM I guess just excepted more spice. Overall taste was good just missing the "fire". Service was attentive and Margarita was yummy. Dining area was clean as I could tell as the lighting was dim, hence the dark pics.
google avatar

Jose S.

Yelp
Just three things: in this place, you won't find real Hispanic food; it's just more Taco Bell taste. The food took almost 20 minutes to be served. Also, the server took forever on everything.

Yelp
First time visiting never knew this restaurant existed lol. It's definitely a cute little spot with plenty of outdoor seating in a greenhouse and at picnic tables under an awning. I was told this place is usually packed and the service isn't always the best. Today must have been our lucky day. I'm sure coming during lunch time or around 2pm on a Thursday contributes to this greatly. Wait staff was fairly attentive and it was nearly empty. I ordered a steak Chimichanga but was given chicken. I went ahead and ate considering our server informed us he was working a double and wanted to take his lunch. Understandable. Chimichanga 4/5 -more peppers and onions than chicken I ordered a spicy margarita on the rocks that didn't seem to have any alcohol in it and was a margarita with a cup full of some sort of pulp and spices. I wouldn't recommend a spicy marg on the rocks. Despite the few things mentioned above, I will definitely try again.

Bernadette D.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Hubby had burrito texano with steak. I had one of the house specialties: enchiladas with salsa verde. The complimentary corn tortilla chips weren't too salty or greasy. Salsa was tasty with a lot of cilantro. I had the house-made hibiscus water, which I'd never tried before and really liked it; very refreshing. Server was very friendly, efficient & accommodating to my request for a half order at same price. Ambience was cozy, nicely decorated, but fun with a bar. I don't think we'll visit Nashville again (tooo expensive!) but this place was extremely reasonable ($25) & free parking. You seem to have to pay over $20-40 everywhere else we've been, including our hotel!

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere, poppin' drinks, more food than you can stomach, & excellent service! I live in West Nash, but this is the new spot for us!! I can't wait til it's warm out so we can check out the patio!!

Yelp
I've lived in Nashville for almost 8 years but had somehow never been to (or even heard of) El Fuego. I ordered the Fuego Special which came with a hefty bed of rice under a pile of grilled chicken and delicious queso cheese dip. It was a simple dish that is common at Tex-Mex restaurants, but this was definitely one of the better iterations I've had. The chips and salsa were delicious as well. The chips were thin and crispy while the mild salsa had strong notes of cilantro and onion. The outdoor seating area was expansive and perfect for a nice evening. I loved the atmosphere of restaurant -- I never would have known I was in East Nashville. I will definitely be adding this to my Tex-Mex rotation.

Yelp
El fuego has very good margaritas and yummy food for a good price. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa, which I liked. I got the carne asada tacos, which were very juicy and flavorful. It comes with pico on the side. I tried my friend's carne asada dish (carne asada steak, rice , beans, tortilla, pico, lettuce, tomato) and that was delicious as well, a lot of food!! You can make your win tacos with it or just eat it with rice and other toppings. For margs, I got the strawberry frozen margarita. It was fantastic and strong and not too sweet. Drinks are amazing here! Small parking lot, usually packed, but there are some on the road parking. Great patio for when weather is nice!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
A hidden gem for very good margs and good prices. The frozen margs look small but they are mighty and they limit you to get 2 frozen margs per person. I got the mango flavor frozen Marg and it was tasty and strong. I highly recommend any type of margs here. For food I got the el fuego special with carne Asada, which is rice, carne asada slices, and cheese melted all over. It was very good, but even though I love cheese, it was a little too cheesy for me. We went on Friday night and there was a 30 minute wait. There's a decent size patio but it was cold that night and even though there were heaters, we opted to wait for an indoor table.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on Cinco de Mayo and this place was crazy busy as expected. When we got a table inside we were quickly served a mound of chips and our waitress got the margaritas flowing fast. The margaritas were strong and delicious and will keep me coming back. The service: - Our waitress was great, and even on the busiest day of the year you could see the employees were MOVING. The food: - The chips and salsa are your normal Mexican restaurant style, but the positive is you can get as many refills as needed, and if your slamming margaritas down you'll definitely need a refill or two. - Enchiladas Verdes were cheesy, filled with onions, and overall a really good dish. Overall, this place is serving up a great value in terms of the food and prices. Excited to go back and sit on their patio. Highly recommend El Fuego.

Yelp
Website and Apple Maps said open Mondays 11am-10pm. We drove out of the way to eat here based on reviews. It's 1230p and the place is completely closed. Waste of time.
google avatar

Allyssa N.

Yelp
This is a classic Mexican spot! The spicy margaritas are great and I love sitting on the patio or inside. I've never tried a bad taco here!

Dana M.

Yelp
The place looks cute upon arriving. A bit strange on ordering but got it done and told to pick a seat and let them know what the table number is so they can deliver the food. Grabbed a few glasses for water, self serve, and noticed immediately that the glasses looked dirty, fingerprints and lip marks. Sat down with our chips and what they call salsa, I call cold tomatoe soup. Food came and it just didn't look right. Slabs of al pastor and the greasiest, gross tacos I've ever tasted. It was all just wrong.

Nichole C.

Yelp
Let's just say if you want to leave hungry come here. Food was alittle slow coming out. The only great thing was our server from California. Brunch was just meh. I left sad and hungry. I wish I could leave half a star. There was a wasp that was also trying to escape the place
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
Terrible service! Their To go app lies don't go off of those times... girl up front is super entitled.. more worried about sipping on her drink than checking if my order is ready when it's been 20 min past when it said it was due. Top it all off the food was incredibly meh... 45 min wait for 5 tacos... get with it....
google avatar

Queen H.

Yelp
Used to be a decent place but has definitely gone down hill. The drinks are the best thing on the menu. I feel like the owners have become greedy and care more about quantity than quality. They need to revamp the whole menu or improve the taste of their current dishes. Either way I won't be back way to inconsistent.

Breanna D.

Yelp
Food was amazing, went during live band show . The outside seating was great. Parking lot is a bit small but overall great experience.
google avatar

Joseph N.

Yelp
We went for dinner last week. The service we received was excellent. Our server was attentive and was very helpful. We sat inside, the room is beautiful. It was also very loud. Not a bad thing, but, just to loud for my wife and I. We shared cocktails, my wife enjoyed her Margarita and I had a beer. The food was bland. No hot sauce on the table. There was no lettuce and tomatoes to complement the refried beans. The salsa was watery and tasteless. We will not be going back. With that said, this is a very popular location, the outside bar and dining room are beautiful and as I stated, the service was excellent. The food needs to be better.
google avatar

AJ M.

Yelp
We stopped here after a long drive from Michigan. We're in Nashville for the week for vacation and a work conference. We had no wait at 6:45 on a Saturday night. Our waitress, Lucy, was friendly and offered good suggestions. The guacamole was delicious! My husband enjoyed the birria tacos. They were sooo flavorful! I had a Paloma and a bean and cheese papusa which were very good. My daughter loved the suadero and a carne asada tacos and the agua de jamaica. We wanted to try the sopapillas but we were too full. It's a fun place and we would definitely stop again.
google avatar

Darryl T.

Yelp
This place is great. the food was amazing. Service was very attentive. We had the chimichanga and the salad, the salad seemed weird because it didn't come with lettuce lol, but it was delicious. The drinks .... we had the frozen margaritas that say there is a limit of two. I was like why but after having only one I was a believer, the prices here a super reasonable, and everything thing seemed very fresh. When I'm back in Nashville I will definitely stop here. There is an outdoor area that looks like a green house I saw when I was leaving and i didn't get to explore, maybe next time.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
First off i will say my margarita was the BEST i've gotten here!! Second this is my first time trying since someone recommended this place... but the food was not it, i got the Fajita dish which had like shrimp, steak & chicken with side of rice, beans & "salad". The protein was SUPER dry like a damn desert... Service was kinda alright.. felt like they was all over the place LOL the ambiance was alright, they had indoor & outdoor seating. it was a little dark, if you wanna eat kind of in the dark this is your type of place but i would definitely rate this place a 3 out 10.. & the 3 is for the margarita that was the only thing that was the best.
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
Came here once by myself and sat at the bar and liked it so much I brought my boyfriend when he came in town. Atmosphere is small and fun in a house off the Main Street with back door porch seating! Parking can be tight but can usually find a spot in the lot or out by the road. Margaritas are nice and strong don't let the size fool you, chips and salsa no complaints and added queso makes it even better. For entrees the first time I tried the burrito texano and thought it was good but could've used one more burrito. The second time I got the chimichanga and it was so much better and I had leftovers for sure. My boyfriend got mahi tacos and finished every bite with nothing but smiles so thumbs up from him. Service..amazing! I can't remember her name but our waitress was on top of everything before us having to ask for refills or chips, she really was amazing. Will be back no doubt:)
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
The Margaritas are great and so is the chorizo queso, but that's about it! I had the carna asada which I sent back. The wife and son had a quesadilla and I sampled them both. I give them a 3 star. The place was packed and service was a bit slow. If you are looking for great Mexican food this is not the place. The outside is cool I must admit.
google avatar

Jamie P.

Yelp
They charge 3.5% on credit card fees. In a world that is going cashless, this just seems out of touch. Do better or offer an ATM. Salsa-meh Chips-ok Guac-decent Pupusa w/chicken-great but small (sides: basic rice, decent beans, a random "coleslaw" that was interesting) Enchiladas verde-fantastic Margarita-good! Bloody Maria (with jal infused tequila)-could not drink. Tasted like straight Tabasco yet not really spicy...? Service: 4/5

Yelp
This place simply exceeded expectations. We came here on a whim and wanted to have a patio and some margaritas - we managed to acquire both. What I can say that I enjoyed the most is the vibe. I literally felt like I was in Key West again. We went around this time last year, and we had so much fun. The lights, the people watching, and the general ambiance just took us back to our vacation. I could totally soak this up so much more. There is literally nothing to say bad about it. We both enjoyed the food we had and the pitcher of margaritas. I am not going to pretend and say it is cost effective. We paid a hefty penny for the pitcher, but it got the job done for Taco Tuesday. We loved the food. I enjoyed the salsa the most because it was fresh and didn't have a kick to it that would affect me later. I think it had a hint of heat, but in a good way. The tacos were superb. I got 3 steak tacos to keep matters simple that were prepared street style. My significant other got the El Fuego special that consists of chicken, rice, & queso all with Cajun seasoning. He doesn't require a lot to make him happy. Plus, he is very gringo when it comes to some food. I love him anyway. We sat outside and you order from the outside bar. Seating is first come, first serve when eating outside. I really wanted to enjoy the outside since it was not super humid tonight. People watching is the best part of the dining experience if that is something you enjoy. I love people watching, and El Fuego is perfect for it. One warning I would give is that tables outside fill up and you will be approached by bold people to ask you when you are forfeiting your table. We were almost done and had 3 people approach us for when we would be done. That might not sit well for some, but we didn't mind. Plus, they will not serve you if you do not have a table already established. We got here around 6:45pm and were able to secure a spot without issue. The later you come, the harder that becomes an issue to secure a space outside... or at least on Taco Tuesday. No complaints here from me. I want to come back. It is worth the trek, the havoc, and the "musical picnic tables" you might run into.

Yelp
Long wait for food NOISY dining area, but back garden seating outside is nice Food was not good. Just bland. The Mahi tacos were so dry and hard that it could have been used to hammer a nail. The side of beans and rice are slopped on a plate and it wasn't very appetizing. We've been here a few times, but with so many other choices, why bother.
google avatar

Mary Alice B.

Yelp
They make you wait in a long line for everything. Soda refill or another beer? Wait in the long line. Kids are running all over the place, which I don't mind, as the space on a nice night is big enough for that sort of behavior. The service is the worst and the food is only average. There are so many other Mexican places nearby that have better food and service - we choose them instead.
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
It was BUSY but the food was good and the outside area was fun for our group of friends

Joe W.

Yelp
Great food! Great Service. Ate at the bar and I had such a great time overall. When a bartender is also a fantastic server and very entertaining it really makes the experience special. Thanks Mark!

Noe M.

Yelp
I came here to bond with my new teammates. Our company paid for the appetizers but the drinks were on us. I highly recommend the queso and chorizo (choriqueso). I ordered a hibiscus margarita which was surprisingly very good. This pairs nicely with the El Fuego Special which is your choice of steak or chicken over a bed of rice smothered in the house made queso. It came with three flour tortillas. As a person who grew with authentic tortillas made by Mexican relatives, the flour tortillas are not the best, but the rest of the meal was so good, that I was able to overlook that. Will definitely be coming here again to taste the corn street tacos and the El Fuego quesadilla. One last thing, the prices are just right for the food.
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Al pastor tacos are as good as I've ever had, anywhere. Can't wait to work my my through the menu.

Dafne R.

Yelp
You basically have to do everything yourself, get your own napkins, your own silverware, and walker over to get your own chips, that's crazy and is this supposed to be a Mexican restaurant or what because the music wasn't Mexican music at all. This seems more like a whitewashed "Mexican restaurant".
google avatar

Camille S.

Yelp
Great margaritas and Birria tacos!! Outside seating was super fun and very kid friendly. Will definitely be back next time we're in town!
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
First we are from California so live by the expectation that we are not going to find good Mexican food in the South. We chose El Fuego because we saw it lit up nicely with a lot of cars in the lot. The restaurant is a bit dark inside and a tad loud but we were able to converse without issue. The chips were good but the salsa was very bland. Our entrees were mixed. The enchiladas verdes with chicken added were the best on the table. The carne asada tacos and fajitas were good but a bit bland. For the pupusas the dough was good but the filling bland. I added some guacamole to add some flavor. The Al pastor was good and on the sweet side. Our server Dustin was funny and personable and the prices were fantastic. Overall the restaurant met our expectations but this Californian remains convinced I should give up the search in the South.

Karman L.

Yelp
The food is disgustingly salty, and the management and service is terrible. I would never go back to this place.

Yelp
Great service, great food. Clean fun environment. Some parking in their parking lot but lots on the street. The Mahi tacos were just great. Friendly you never felt rushed. Highly recommend.

Angelique F.

Yelp
We had 14 people which was a squeeze with the weather but they had room in their outside greenhouse. Everyone ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their meal which I say is a great accomplishment! The staff were also kind and helpful! So 5!
