BEST Mojarra Frita in the game. Consistently delicious, seasoned, fresh fish. I get it delivered and they have never let me down. Fantastic local spot in the Excelsior, on Mission Street. They have 4 different salsas and I recommend trying each one out to find your favorite. So much comes in the order, plus chips and fresh tortillas.

I recently visited Taco Loco Mexican restaurant, and I was thoroughly impressed. The place was spotless, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was fast and efficient. I ordered tacos, and they were absolutely delicious! It’s rare to find a spot that combines great food with such a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!.

I ordered a super chicken burrito here today, I was pleasantly surprised that there was almost no fat on the chicken, it was pollo asado. Definitely not a dry burrito either, although I wish I would have remembered to tell them not to put pico de gallo, but that was my fault, I would prefer cilantro and savoya without the tomato. The taste was better than I expected, I would give them a five but I will give the food a four because I did not like the chips at all, very good food, very nice people working here, the atmosphere is decent too. I'm very pleased overall with the food, however, I still put La Altena at number one, a slight edge with the food, but both are very very good.

Amazing quesadilla! Great service and atmosphere. My only complaint is they jacked up the prices. I will only come here once in a while as a treat, I can't afford to eat here as often as I want to.

so, I ordered this on DoorDash. I got two quesabirria tacos and a super taco. can I just say that this place changed my life? This was literally the best birra Taco that I’ve had in San Francisco, and that I’ve had in a long time. The consomé was so good and flavorful. I wish I took pictures, but I was being a big back and the food is gone 😭 try this place ASAP!

Let's start with the quality of the food, excellent, presentation,10/10 I don't like burritos but I once tried this place and was fascinated, now I am a fan of the Gran taco loco burritos, bomb the chips so good , the sauces, everything is very delicious 🤤 the desserts my god everything was perfect. I opted for online delivering. Regular burrito, asada, requested extra chopped, enchilada sauce. Regular burrito asada. 2 carnitas tacos. My order is correct unlike others that claim they received wrong items. Every thing tasted amazing. My taco was so tender and crispy. Even my dad was able to eat it, he doesn't eat much hard or crunchy items. I love their green sauce, I wish I had more. My wet burrito was amazing! I split it into 2 meals. One for lunch and one for dinner. They gave free ships and salsa. The chips are amazing. Medium thick, salty and crunchy! It made my meal extra delicious! I can't wait to order more.

I ordered a chicken taco, the carne asada nachos & an agua fresca through their delivery system. I received a chicken taco, chicken nachos & an horchata. The chicken taco was packed full with lots of meat, onion, cilantro & salsa. It has a nice kick to it, the flavors all together were really nice. The chicken by itself was less flavorful but it shows you how well the combination goes together when all the pieces are there. The nachos were nice and packed in. The chips were stale when put under the food, thicker than usual but then they were thin, soggy and hard to pickup. I wasn't super impressed by the flavors even when I was intentionally getting it all in one bite. I wish I could've had the carne asada. The horchata is thick and delicious and was the reason why i gave 3/5 stars instead of 2. While the food that I was given was yummy, I would've loved to have known what I had ordered tasted like. I don't think I would return in the future but I hope you try it & make your own opinion! I would recommend going in and picking your food up yourself and checking it before you leave.

Had to try San Francisco Mexican food ( From SoCal) and El Gran Taco didn't disappoint. Great service. Great food. (A little high in sodium)!but worth the indulgence. The Music adds to the environment and ambiance.

Ordered a super wet burrito. It was missing guacamole,beans,sour cream. What a rip off. The worst wet burrito I have ever had. I did not like the taste of the enchilada sauce and since all the best things were missing from the inside of the burrito, it really lacked flavor.

Food arrived via delivery was still hot ! Missing the guacamole on the side but portion size is filling! Carne in the burrito was a bit dry but with the sauces it made up for the dryness sauce was flavorful not to spicy, 1 taco was $5 dollars but you can easily make it into two tacos and it was juicy and the onions gave it a sweet crunch

All I can say is this is my 1st time trying Birria tacos and this place made me love it! So flavorful and the dipping part is even more delicious! I'm happy that it's Beef and my preference! I totally recommend cause I will order again soon!

This is a good spot if you are close to Bernal Heights in San Francisco. It's has a variety of different dishes and the traditional taqueria foods. I enjoyed their wet burrito.

Their "new breakfast burrito" is what I get on a fairly regular basis and it's been consistently good since I started coming here almost a year ago. I'm so glad they have this as it's simple, filling, and the perfect breakfast burrito for my taste. It's not loaded with a bunch of salsas and rice etc. Amazing! The staff are fantastic, very welcoming and quick! Check them out!

It was a pretty good burrito! Great deal! Would order from this place again. Not crazy about the whole beans though. I prefer refried. Other than that, it was a solid burrito. Totally worth it!

I have the opportunity to check out many many Mexican restaurants and taquerias around sf and I'll said California, this is one I'll said I felt like home, their soups, tacos and the burritos are so tasty, the beans are amazing; the staff and location always clean and super friendly, please don't forget to visit and support this family business; any time I got to the mission areaI have to stop to get a shrimp cocktail, burrito asada or birria, caldo de res or OMG OR THE BEST TORTA AHOGADA !!!!! YES THE TORTA AHOGADA IS THE BEST !!!! do I have a space to write something about their best OMG BEST FLAN !!!! The location is amazing around the area is very clean and safe. This is one of maybe the only clean Mexican spot around this area !!!!

Hands down the best taco place in the City. Yes, I said it. It's a little hole in the wall spot that's easy to drive right past and there's almost no parking near there so you gotta get lucky, but it absolutely worth it. I've seen some non-5 star reviews for other dishes besides the tacos, so let me say that I've only ever had tacos here and I will only ever get tacos here. They're absolutely amazing - bursting with flavor with the right amount of spicy and cooked perfectly. They make everything fresh and the chips are perfect. The lady only wanted to eat like 3 boxes of chips because they're so good, until she had the tacos and she was hooked like I was. If you like tacos, do yourself a favor and come here. You won't forget it.

I don't know how much prices are at the restaurant but the food truck is a rip off for basic Mexican food. $17 for a burrito lol? C'mon I can easily go anywhere else for $12. This is all honesty and I'm not trying to tear apart their business. I think most people would agree with me.

El Gran Taco Loco is my GO TO! For some caldo de res. And yes, I've tried many other places but this one is consistent, thick chunks of beef, flavorful for sure, thick cuts of carrots, potatoes, and FRESH CORN (not frozen thank goodness!) Only place I order my caldo from (yes I'm particular on this haha)

My to go order of chilaquiles. Yes, thats right, thats what i got. . And what is up with the beans (or so i think) and this egg? Scrambled in the chilaquiles, no? The quantity is not what it used to be either. What is this mess? Wish i could get a refund!

One of my old co-workers recommended this place and omg, the Quesabirrias are sooo goood. I love that they give you cilantro and onions on the side. Definitely recommend, a bit on the pricey side but worth it once in a while. I also like their Burrito bowls, very filling and heathy.

It's a regular burrito with no rice and extra Salsa!? Just ordered through Uber, I ordered a regular burrito with NO RICE and extra salsa. If you look at the photo, you know what's up. Got a RICE burrito with light carne asada. Never again, too much good Mexican food around to even waste any time or money...

I used to love to go to El Gran Taco Loco late at night at their old location near Cortland in Bernal Heights. My go-to menu items were lengua quesadilla and shrimp cocktail. Recently I visited their current (new) location and found that they no longer offer lengua and prices have gone up quite a bit. I ordered a quesadilla with Al Pastor and a shrimp cocktail for old times' sakes. My bill was approx $35 for 2 items (take-out, without tips). The cook wasn't friendly. I tried asking a question but he wouldn't even look at me. Alright, cool. The food was just so-so since there's no lengua and if you ask for Carne Asada, you have to pay something like $2 extra. The shrimp cocktail was still good but a tad too sweet I don't remember it being this sweet? Oh well. I satisfied my craving for nostalgia. I think I will explore other taquerias that still offer lengua.

A review for their soft tacos - ordered Doordash with them and tacos came well wrapped in foil to keep them warm. It included a bag of tortilla chips and two salsas. I think they could provide customers with more salsa. But, tacos are worthy. Very well packed with meat and double tortilla. Includes salsa, onion and cilantro! Not a bad an option if you're craving a taco and it's nearby.

Confirmed our catering order multiple times the week leading up to our event. When it came to the day pick up our catering order, it wasn't prepared. The person who took our order over the phone and confirmed by email didn't relay our order to the restaurant. Caused an enormous disruption to our event. The staff at the restaurant who was trying to help us was very kind. She looked over our order and was really trying to think of a way to help us, but ultimately there was no way to get our catering order in a reasonable time.

This place has been making really delicious tripas burritos, and is currently my favorite burrito spot. My pro tip is to ask for extra crispy tripas because it makes a huge difference! When they're extra crispy, they are easier to chew and more tasty. If I feel like switching things up, I get the tacos or the tostada salad. I don't really like the nachos too much because I have a personal preference of having less toppings so that the chips stay nice and crispy. I like that this place looks so clean too. They are a bit on the pricier side but it's worth it for their amazing tripas burrito. Ok, now I'm craving it. *drool*

The food was alright. I ordered a super steak burrito for nearly $15. I am very disappointed in the size of this burrito as it gives off regular burrito vibes. The didn't give an option for beans and just gave pinto but I would've preferred black beans. I also ordered a taco salad for a family member which looked really good and i'm sure it tasted great! They provided chips and salsa which I am really grateful for.

Oh man very generous food portions good service and nice staff. 2nd time here first time orders the super burrito 2nd and ordered the nachos and never disappointed

I would give this spot 3.5/5. Overall the taste is decent, but there are better taquerias in the city. Their tacos are OK. They have an decent deal on Tuesdays. Overall nothing to complain about but I wouldn't rave about this spot.

I just paid $23 for a taco salad. WTF.....12$ maybe 15$ but $19.87 plus tip $23! Probably not coming back here till I get a better job. Love the employees, love the food, but holy shit!

I really hate giving bad reviews. When you make a burrito and you decide to give like 3 pieces of meat and shove an entire ice burg lettuce into the tortilla, do you seriously think the customer will be like, "oh wow yum i love me some lettuce burrito! I will come here every day!" Why not just give lots of meat and get repeat customers? I've doordashed from here at least 3 times and it was always a soggy lettuce burrito. I don't want that. Skimping on the good stuff won't get you repeat customers.

I recently stopped at El grande taco Loco with my best friend while visiting from Minneapolis. I was really craving authentic tasting Mexican food. I am very glad that I chose to come to El taco Loco as their burritos were amazing my burrito, a wet burrito of Carne Asadawas stellar spectacular and award-winning. Such flavorful flavorful meat we love meat. Please come here more. They are great. Thank you.

Had to check this place out as it's in the neighborhood. A couple of friends had suggested trying this place out and decided to order lunch from here. Kept my order simple and got some nachos (mobile order). The presentation of the nachos was great. The nachos were not smashed and there was a good balance of toppings and chips which is always appreciated. Just good nachos and great flavor. No complaints and good service. They also provided additional chips with salsa which is a HUGE PLUS for me. Good stuff and great eats.

It was my first time ordering from this place but the enchiladas that I order had all the dam chicken hella burn and also hard can't even eat but the rice and bean are alright ,if you order from here make sure you order something that doesn't have meat they might burn your food and I will link photos below

This is about my taco order on 2/20/23. The picture in the menu shows two tacos, I really thought the order came with two Tacos. So when my order arrived I was disappointed. The pico de gallo was unfortunately plain. This company was my place to go to back when it was on 30th and Mission.

I can always count on El Gran Taco Loco to satisfy my Mexican food cravings. They open early and also stay open pretty late. The super nachos are good, but the steak fries are my favorite. My husband usually gets the burritos and plates. The complimentary salsas that come with tortilla chips are fresh and really good too. Overall they have good food and service, great hours, and decent prices.

Skip. I regret coming here but I had a 30% cash back from Groupon+ and decided to give it a try. I ordered a bunch of stuff and it took really long for the order to finish. Super Quesadilla with carnitas $9.50 - wrapped like a burrito. Pretty decent size. Taste wise it was just ok. It just wasn't very captivating to keep me eating if that makes sense. Super burrito with pollo asado $9.35 - This burrito felt small. It definitely lacked flavor. It felt so plain. There wasn't even much salsa or sour cream. A lot of rice. Fish taco $3.90 - I asked for the chipotle dressing out since I didn't want to eat spicy but dam without the sauce, it's literally just tortilla, chopped up fish, cilantro, and some lettuce. It was so dry. The taco wasn't even hot anymore. Like if you knew that it was going to be this plain, at least warn a customer! Maybe suggest me put some salsa or something. This was literally the worst; better off with Rubio's. Steak Fries $10.75 - heavy loaded box, I like so far. But then I remembered the guy popping this box into the microwave... My fries aren't crispy anymore!! It was thick cut fries so hmm.. But honestly, at least this was better than my fish taco. Standard fries stuff. Salsas - the green one (always forgetting what it's called) was pretty sour. Comparing to the others I've tried, I don't think it's supposed to be this sour. The regular salsa was ok, pretty fresh at least. Yeah, definitely not going to come back. I'll stick to the guads 2 long blocks away.

Sadly it is a hit or miss. Weeknights are bad. They do amazing shrimp or fish tacos, and made amazing shrimp burritos. But now the super burrito diameter has been halved. The shrimp and fish is done in an amazing sauce and veggies. Amazing. But the size has decreased. To a point where $15 is a robbery. I want to love it again...it is clean...nice people...high quality food.

Unfortunately I have gone twice, and both times I got food poisoning. I will not be going again . I got a al pastor burrito. Customer service is great. I have bad stomach pain after I ate that in the evening.

El Gran Taco Loco is a small glimpse into the future of taquerias on Mission Street. It's new and clean. Along with a clean bathroom. The full menu showing on screens above the counter. A nice salsa bar area and drinks like Horchata, Strawberry, and cantaloupe available for self service. Flat screens televisions located throughout the restaurant. They didn't copy the old taqueria format of a Cash Only, orange grease dripping through your fingers as you ate, loud music playing, and almost always guaranteed a gut busting sized burrito worth the money paid. Thats what we were used to. In some ways this new way is better. But of course there's always the bad too. How was the food? Super Steak Burrito: it tastes pretty good overall. The flavors and the quality of steak all blended well together. But the one draw back was that its small. In fact I ate 1 1/2 Super Burritos. The price of one is around $9 something plus tax so I ate about $15 of burrito. Flavor-wise 4 stars, quality-4 stars, quantity-2 stars The people who work here are extremely nice. Overall I would like to give four but there are just too many good taquerias with the same if not better. It's stiff competition on Mission Street. But still a worthy place of trying.

They have misleading advertising outside they offer $ 2 tacos on Tuesdays and Thursdays but when they charge you, a temporary charge appears according to them for meat in the taco, well I don't want to buy only the tortilla,

There are many Mexican style restaurants in San Francisco just like pizza, parlors and Chinese food but when it comes to authentic Mexican food, this place is way up the list most people give it a 4 1/2 star. I am saying five star by far this place has the best Chile Riano have ever eaten so if you're looking for a good Mexican food, give it a shot I'm sure you'll be happy and the place is clean.

It's North VS South. My diet consists of 50% Mexican food when here in California. El Gordo or Aldaberto's are my go to places in San Diego. But you already know that after reading the reviews. I came here for a quick lunch from the Jewish home. I know you read that review, right? The place is decent size. Plenty of dining tables and the open area kitchen dominates the front corner of the restaurant. The staff bust the tables so I didn't have to clean it myself. There must have been a huge rush because some tables still needed a wipe down. I really like the menu display. It's five LCD TV displaying the food and describing the ingredients. It's pretty easy to read even if you're way in the back. I had the option to get my carne asada burrito with pinto or refried beans. I got the pinto and I suggest to you getting refried beans. The pinto beans were in water and they didn't drain it well so the dripping went all the way to the bottom. The meat was ok. Wasn't as favorable as I was hoping. And it didn't have much guacamole and sour cream as I would have wanted. I did cover the burrito with some of the complimentary green sauce from the salsa stand. You know the creamy avocado and jalapeño mixture. This is one of the best I've tasted. Overall three stars. Staff gave great service but the food was just three stars. They do have taco Tuesday and Thursday specials. When I'm in the area guess where I'll be those days? Now excuse me, time to head back and spend family time. M

Lots of choices for breakfast to dinner. The food is always fresh & prepared in front of you. The workers are fast, efficient & friendly. You can get a spinach tortilla or other kind instead of white flour. The place is always clean the eat in dining area is spacious. I always get a breakfast burrito or super carnitas burrito. However there are a lot of other items I need to try that I see others ordering that look delicious

Honestly the only good thing about San Francisco. The tacos are delicious, price are fair, and its open late. Bonus points for the free tortilla chips and super fresh salsas.

I waited for a taco truck, to replace the one that left, about a month ago. There was a Black van, announcing that El Gran Taco Loco truck was coming soon. Finally, the truck arrived! Boy, what a truck! So nice and clean and you can see through the windows, and watch your food being prepared! The staff is great and Rafael works the window. They have great Frescas! The food is wonderful! The meat was so good, I thought it had been marinated, but it hadn't. I love birria, and they have it. Everything is good and fresh! The homemade tortilla chips, and salsa's are all homemade and fresh! If there is a downside, it is just the fact that they shutdown and leave at about 7:00 pm.

They just loss a customer. I hate when people are rude to paying customers. If you don't want to work Don't. I use to love this place. If I could give them no stars I would. Went there yesterday evening order a super chichen taco, churros and a super chichen quesadilla with rice and beans inside and no guacamole. They told me they didn't have any more churros and refunded me for them. Got home and had to switch food with my sister. My taco was not a super taco. It was just a regular taco with sour cream. My quesadilla looked more like a burrito and only had chichen, cheese, and Hella guacamole. So I called the restaurant and told them they messed up my food and they told me to come back the next day. I called the next afternoon and asked for a refund and was told they can do that because I no longer wanted the food. So I called again to make sure I could still get the refund when I got there and that I was 10 minutes away but then was told no I can't get a refund but they will remake the quesadilla for me. I asked her to wait until I got there to make it so I can make sure they made it right this time around. When I got there, the lady just hands me a bag without making sure it was for me and goes back to doing what she was doing. Never again!!!!!! When I got home and looked at the quesadilla it was the exact same. How is that possible?

I'm haven't been here in a while, but I used to come here when it was Menudo, the food was definitely better then and the wait time was less as well. I came here for Taco Tuesday/Thursday where taco's are $2 each and they layer them up pretty good too. The tacos were alright. They have a salad/condiments bar--which I'm glad is still there. But like I said above, the food was better and came out more expeditiously back then before it became El Gran.
