El Hostal del Pericote

As someone who does not normally give reviews, I just had to drop a 10000000/10 stars for this restaurant. We booked for 21:45 on a Friday, and the food, ambience, and service were that of a Michelin starred dining experience. As soon as we sat, the manager/owner made us feel at home. He personalized our meal by making sure we had just the perfect amount of every item we ordered. The staff was just as attentive, changing our plates after every meal, keeping our tables clean, and checking in on how everything was going, without being intrusive. The food was PHENOMENAL. We ordered the lomo marinado, croquetas, buñuelos de bacalao, rabas, and entrecôte. All had depth in flavor, and it was very obvious that their produce (i.e. fish, meats) were of excellent quality. We topped our dinner with a cheesecake and a flan, and these were perhaps just as good or even better than what we’ve had in all of Spain. All in all, El Hostal del Pericote was a total gem. If you’re looking for elevated Spanish food and a refined atmosphere in Cantabria, don’t skip this one.

Walked in at 3:45 with no booking. The staff were so friendly even though we don’t speak much Spanish. We tried 3 different steaks which were all delicious! The steak came with peppers and chips. Great desserts too, especially the basque cheesecake.

Very nice place, great service and good food. Very service oriented and everybody is trying to make you feel comfortable.

What a great place! Amazing food and service in a special setting! The garden is unbeatable on a nice sunny day in Cantabria!

The waitress that took the order was kind but she did not understand our order. We have order 3 plates both 1/2 raciones. We payed for 4 plates, one of them full racione. I would expect more professional care given the level of a place rated on the Michelin guide.

We had an amazing experience dining at this place. The staff was very friendly, had no trouble presenting the menu in english and made excellent recommendations. We can honestly say that it was one of the best meals we had, not just in Spain but in general (the steak was to die for). If we ever return to this region, we will definetely have to revisit this restaurant. Well worth the detour!
