As someone who does not normally give reviews, I just had to drop a 10000000/10 stars for this restaurant. We booked for 21:45 on a Friday, and the food, ambience, and service were that of a Michelin starred dining experience.
As soon as we sat, the manager/owner made us feel at home. He personalized our meal by making sure we had just the perfect amount of every item we ordered. The staff was just as attentive, changing our plates after every meal, keeping our tables clean, and checking in on how everything was going, without being intrusive.
The food was PHENOMENAL. We ordered the lomo marinado, croquetas, buñuelos de bacalao, rabas, and entrecôte. All had depth in flavor, and it was very obvious that their produce (i.e. fish, meats) were of excellent quality. We topped our dinner with a cheesecake and a flan, and these were perhaps just as good or even better than what we’ve had in all of Spain.
All in all, El Hostal del Pericote was a total gem. If you’re looking for elevated Spanish food and a refined atmosphere in Cantabria, don’t skip this one.
