The 16 Best Taco Spots In Mexico City

"We’ve mentioned a lot of al pastor tacos in this guide, but they are the most emblematic taco in Mexico City—plus, we’ll never stop talking about al pastor no matter what. El Huequito was founded in 1959, and they’re the self-proclaimed first place to serve tacos al pastor in CDMX. Each comes with a mountain of pastor meat that you can split into the accompanying seven or so tortillas. El Huequito has become a legit franchise, but the homemade quality is still very much there. The best outpost is the one in Napoles—the decor feels a bit like an airport lounge, but it still has a fun, buzzy atmosphere. " - guillaume guevara

El Huequito | Bon Appétit

"GO: for the no-frills grande dame of tacos al pastor, shaved off a rotating spit and eaten standing on the sidewalk. That’s the El Huequito way. ORDER THE: tacos al pastor, of course! This place claims to be the first to serve the dish and has been doing so since 1959. It’s a Mexican take on Middle Eastern shawarma—but with pork instead of lamb, tortilla instead of pita, and a spicy adobo rub—and you shouldn’t leave Mexico City without eating at least three. Be sure to add a dollop of herby-spicy green salsa on top. And grab plenty of napkins. THE VIBE IS: literally the sidewalk. El Huequito has several sit-down locations dotted around the city, but the original—a closet-sized food stall near Mercado San Juan in the Centro Histórico with a skinny high-topped table out front—is the best. PRACTICAL STUFF: Check the website for specific locations and hours. —Hilary Cadigan" - Condé Nast

Very simple place but the tacos are really good and Servicos is fast and friendly. I had the Special Taco al pastor, which is a huge taco with lots of meet so you can make about 5 or 6 smaller tacos.

Everyone loved this place! So far best tacos around. We actually stopped to get tacos to go as we were going to another restaurant for dinner but when we got there we couldn't get in so we went back and ordered more food. The AL pastor tacos were probably the best. We dis the street taco size then the homemade tortilla ones later. The homemade Tortillas are amazing! Do those. Get them sauced already with onions. My kids also ordered a torta, some quesadilla with al pastor meat and queso with sausage. Everything was very good

Google
El Huequito is consistently good. Their tacos al pastor are different from the typical tacos al pastor in Mexico City but they do the job. Their menu is very large so I haven't tried everything on their list but everything I've had is good. I can comfortably recommend it. There is no parking so plan to park on the street or use valet. They are popular so you might need to wait for a table.

Google
Amazing tacos al pastor at a very affordable price. You are guaranteed to eat your fill here with authentic and super flavor pastor. They have a couple of outdoor seating tables that make this place perfect for a weekend lunch. Service was quick and staff was really friendly and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely come back here anytime!

The pastor tacos were original with cooked onions and orange and green salsa. Had also suadero tacos which were tasty but a bit dry. Regular tortillas were ok. Service could be faster for a taqueria. The venue was loud.

Great taco joint! There is a secret taco here, not always on the menu, it called "taco ingles" it a sealed beef with lea perrins sauce, and it's very good!

Google
One of the best tacos in CDMX. Amazing juicy tacos el Pastor melting in your mouth. We’ve ordered pastor especial, it was plenty for 2 people. Price ~130 pesos. There are a various sort of different salsas. Staff is friendly and very quick. Menu is rich. I would definitely come back! This is awesome

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite to take away. The people seemed friendly enough and double and triple checked to make sure our order was correct. So when we got home to eat, it was disappointing to find that our order was incomplete. After investigating and calling the restaurant we found out that we weren't charged for the missing item. Now to the taste. My tacos al pastor were very good. My wife's taco arrachera she loved. So if we were hungry and near this place again. We would definitely have again.

Yelp
We came to this particular Taqueria due to recommendations of the quality and taste. No disappointment, the tacos al pastor are delicious, costilla con nopales simply melt in your mouth and the hand made tortillas are exceptional. Nice traditional quesadilla con epazote, so real! I mean real cheese, real corn, real and healthy ingredients. Courteous service and nice presentation for the food. Be prepared to pay a bit more than the traditional Taqueria. Personally, I did not mind since we were carving for good quality tacos after a long flight from Canada saving space in our tummies for the experience. Totally worth it

Yelp
As an American in Mexico City I wanted a great authentic Mexican food dinner and this place delivered in spades. Everything I had (and we feasted) was incredible. The staff was friendly, the location is small and unassuming but clean and bright. If I could give 6 stars I would. The Pastor Especial was an absolutely highlight.

Yelp
Get the taco pastor and the chicarron queso. The chorizo is super delicious as well. It's a chain so it's not extremely authentic but it's so much better than anything you see within the US. The restaurant is in a very safe area and I went during lunch time. Highly recommend and the prices are super cheap. It's very close to the Pepsi World Trade Center and is walkable.
