Yelp
So bomb. Luckily, I was in the area for a meeting, so knew exactly where to go for lunch, thanks to Bryan K!
Walking distance from the Renton Transit Center and other downtown businesses in Renton, El Kiosko was easily found once I spotted its bright, corner building. The place is small, so was packed during the lunch hour. Fortunately, I snagged a seat at one of the tables as a party was leaving.
The menu is extensive; there are a lot of options here for Mexican dishes. I decided on the Taco Plate, which comes with four street tacos of protein of your choosing. I'm a pork fan, so went with two carnitas and two spicy pork tacos.
Tacos didn't take long to get, and there wasn't much to them, other than just the meat, onions and cilantro on corn tortillas because there's a toppings bar that you can help yourself to. Load up on the salsas - they were super yummy and had a spicy kick that will work wonders on these tacos. But oh my gosh do I love street-style tacos! After having tacos here from El Kiosko, I was reminded by just how much I do love them. They're simple, but pack a lot of flavor from the meat. That's all you really need from simple tacos if they're made right. I really enjoyed both of the different pork tacos I chose, but would say the carnitas was my favorite. It had a nice char with crispy edges from the cook, making it even more flavorful, yet the the meat was tender and juicy. The taco plate comes with four tacos, which is a good portion; but damn, I could've ate more.
I will definitely be back to El Kiosko whenever I'm in downtown Renton. For some good, classic tacos on fresh corn tortillas, you can find them here. However, I have a feeling everything on the menu is gonna be good!
