I used to enjoy coming here but El Malecon restaurant has let their food quality go down. I ordered a caldo de res and it had 0 flavor, meat was tough, on top of that the vegetables were a mix of under cooked while others were old and had a bad taste. Really upsetting. I ordered for pick up and tasted it once I got home and had to throw it away.

After looking online we were excited to go. But service was AWFUL. Took 45 min to get our food. Our drinks weren't refilled. By the time our food arrived we were not impressed. Go to a food truck, better food/prices. This place is a joke.

For our monolingual friends, this place is pronounced "El Mall-a-cone". This place is a great place for seafood and Mexican dishes. We were seated right away and a waitress brought chips and salsa within 30 seconds. Service was friendly and everybody spoke Spanish. They have a menu full of delicious items. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful and it can be ordered with or without shrimp, which is good for people with allergies like me. I like ordering the seafood fajitas, they were fantastic! Portions were well served, we needed a to go box when we left. Prices aren't bad, they are pretty reasonable. We have been to three El Malecon restaurants and each one has the same great service. The atmosphere reminds you of being at the beach with lots of ocean decor. The picture is from another location, but they all have the ocean/beach theme going on which makes it a fun place to eat. We really like it here and we will be back again soon.

Google
The food was really good and I loved that they had unusual dishes it is not a typical West Texas Mexican restaurant it is so much better than that great interior atmosphere and the waiters and waitresses were on the ball and seem to care about their job

I came in for a late dinner and this place did not disappoint. The service was quick and friendly, the food was beyond delicious. Definitely left a happy camper. Would definitely recommend for amazing seafood.

Google
This place is great. If seafood and Mexican are your favorites then this place is for you. The menu features a combination of the two.A bit pricey but worth every penny. I had the shrimp tacos this time and they are the best I have ever had. I love the Molcajete dishes here and the chips and hot sauce are top notch.

Yelp
Fun seafood themed Mexican place in the heart of Midland. Service was okay, but they did mess up drink order and two dishes (one which had diet restrictions). I ordered the Daniella which was just chicken and got the Durango which had shrimp and chicken along with a horchata. Horchata was okay yet I could tell it was a mix. The food was good and hot but the service did seemed confused even when we ordered in Spanish. Ambiance is very loud, almost club like! Be prepared.

Yelp
When we once went here, they served our food in a rush and it was undercooked and messy. We almost got food poisoning and will never return. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Yelp
It was great! Red snapper had the best flavor. I can't remember what my mom got but it was like a steak with basically tomato sauce on it. We weren't impressed with her dish but everyone else's was great. My husband got like a mix of meats over a bed of rice smothered in queso and it was really good.

Yelp
This was the second time I've tried this place and both times didn't really go as well as I would of liked. Although it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great either. Both experiences will be noted. The first time we came here was with a party of 20 to celebrate my sis-in-law's graduation. For a table of 20 ppl there was only 1 waiter. Idk if it was because it was busy, or they're just not trained to tackle a big table between two people, or the sole waiter wanted the whole table to his self, whatever the case was it's not acceptable. Because if this our waiter took an extraordinary amount of time to take our orders and to receive them. The same went for our drinks. It took a long time to take down our drinks and to finally get them to our table. It wasn't a deal breaker but I would really recommend on getting better at this if you want to keep costumers coming back. The second time I came here was this weekend with my wife and parents. Ironically we got the same waiter that attended us the last time we were here. Since this was a smaller group I expected a big turnaround with what we experienced the first time. This wasn't necessarily the case. The waiter did ok but I did have to ask him more than once for a refill. It's somewhat a pet peeve to ask multiple times for anything, even more so at the dinner table. The food was great. I had the Jalisco special and it was super delicious and very fulfilling. I highly recommend that plate. I did notice I was charged for refills. Although not a total fail, it is a negative mark for me. This is the first time in years I've seen this charge on a ticket. Service was simply "ok" but that will not keep me from coming back. The only reason I did give some stars was solemnly because of the food & I am willing to give it 1 more try. I'd hate to say but 3rd time might be a charm. (I hope)

Yelp
I got a caldo de pescado and camarón. It was ok, tasted to much like Clamato/tomato paste had a bunch of carrots. Wouldn't recommend it. But my husband got the camarones borrachos and he liked them! I also got the flan but it was bland. But over all service was good.

Yelp
Truly authentic Mexican food! We were a large group and each asked for a different plate, and none of us were disappointed. The seasoning, chili sauce, etc were all truly authentic. Finally, there is a truly MEXICAN restaurant in town! What really set the restaurant apart though was the service. We were promptly seated and served, and the waiter was always attentive to ensure we had enough drinks, chips and salsa etc, and gave good recommendations on what meals to choose. Muchas gracias!!

Yelp
Service was okay we waited to be served and some of the servers were just relaxing in the bar while we waited to be served ,Food was ok if I'm being honest I found a hair in my food ,there margaritas tasted weird. Could do better, I guess I could recommend but no.

Yelp
Not impressed to say the least. We were seated and given chips and salsa. The chips although warm and fresh tasted like old grease but the hot sauce was really good. We waited about 7-10 min for our drink order to be taken and we ordered. We had no silverware and no napkins. Our food came and it was placed in front of us and we had to call the waiter back for silverware. I asked for a side of cabbage and after 5 min I finally had to get up and ask for it. We were never checked on again. The family in front of us was continuously checked on. My Charlotte beans had big pieces of what may have been fat or what looked like menudo meat but tasted like grease. I was very disappointed in not only the food but the lack of attention given. I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
Overall a great dinner experience. Haven't gone for lunch. Food was great and we were taken care of. If you want your normal Mexican food that you see in every restaurant, don't come here. This place stays true to traditional style Mexican food and overall experience that you would see a lot of growing up in a Mexican home or down in the coastal areas of the Valley and Mexico. Menudo, Caldo, traditional tacos etc. Decent amount of beer choices and lots of liquor and margaritas. A little loud for babies with the mariachi band going so just keep that in mind if you have little ones. Would definitely recommend for dinner!

Eric D.

Yelp
I have to say that I had high hopes for this place. Being on travel and looking for good Mexican food I'd hoped that this would be the place. The Chili Rellenos were just okay. If they had melted some Cheese on top they would have been better. The chips and salsa were terrible. The chips tasted like old oil and I actually had them take them off the table because they smelled so bad. The manager said that they change the oil in the fryer every morning. I swear they smelled like week old oil. The flan was not creamy at all, and had the texture of rice. I make better flan at home. They've only been open for two weeks, but I know I will never come back to this restaurant when working in Midland. Then, on top of all that, they charged me a dollar for using a credit card! Give me a break!

Yelp
Waited at bar for over 25 minutes & my chips, salsas, queso, & drink never came. Employees everywhere. This place is a joke

Yelp
Just opened and I had to try the Sea Food. Delicious!! Tru to the traditional Mexican Food. They also have other traditional mexican dishes like tacos and steak for the non sea food eaters. My husband and I loved it. Will be back for more!

Yelp
I will have to say I am not a fan. The salsa was warm.... yes, heated up. Not a fan. The food was good. I had a chicken and shrimp dish. They have lots of seafood dishes. Very bland for a Mexican food restaurant.

Andrea D.

Yelp
I have tried here the Shrimp Tacos, the Shrimp Cocktail, and the Caldo de Res, and all were good. The service is good every time too. The restaurant is loud so you must be ok with that.

Stacy M.

Yelp
was excited to eat there but all the wait staff were too busy talking and putting on makeup to take our order so we walked out!

Rachel J.

Yelp
I love Mexican food of all types, but this was not good. Ground beef was very soupy and watery. No flavor. Also the rice was terrible. The chips and queso were ok. If you like paying $14 for a margarita and do t want actual food it's ok

Bernadette S.

Yelp
Had dinner here for the first time. It was awesome. Our food was delicious, the service was great and the ambiance is very nice. We certainly will be back.

Lynn A.

Yelp
My husband & I had to salt everything! No flavor. We were very disappointed! We had a shrimp dish & fish tacos. The rice was good, though.

Lindsy L.

Yelp
This food was awful! Shrimp was slimy and had a horrible taste, my steak was way over cooked and had no flavor, and the baked potato tasted like the foil it was wrapped in. Won't be going back!

Amy C.

Yelp
We usually have the best experience here but this Saturday I decided to try something different and got the torre. It's basically seafood and veggies. Except mine was mostly cucumber. I counted 5 shrimp maybe 6 pieces of octopus and imitation crab was the main filler for the seafood but let me tell you... there was a ridiculous amount of cucumber. I regret not taking a picture. For $20 some dollars don't order this. There's better stuff on the menu.
