"Brothers and business partners Alex and Jeff Henry are quietly doing great work at El Molino del Sureste, where they share the foods of the Yucatán. The double storefront space on South Kingshighway includes a mill, where the team grinds and nixtamilizes rare and unique heritage varieties of corn sourced from local growers. That depth and heart translate directly into the nostalgic, home-style dishes the Henrys loved as children, as well as Alex’s more cerebral dishes, like white chocolate mole draped over Japanese scallops. The treatment of seafood is gorgeous, and don’t miss the incredible conchinita pibil. El Molino del Sureste continually evolves while elegantly engaging with memory and tradition.Holly Fann" - Holly Fann

I would recommend this place to anybody who needs to be gluten free as they have a completely dedicated gluten-free kitchen. If you want authentic, this place has it and it is really good with lots of different choices. The bathrooms are large and accessible, the bar has a beautiful atmosphere and plenty of seating. They have plenty of seating, staff are very attentive. I never ran out of water, or ice for my other drinks, they are also very knowledgeable about their menu and if you tell them what your specific diet is, what might be the most go-to option or which ones to avoid. I have not sat down in a restaurant and had that great of service in a long time and so it was refreshing. They have plenty of outdoor seating as well if it's a nice day, If you go to St. Louis, this is a must-go-to spot.

If you're looking for a place that actually transports your taste buds straight to the Yucatán, El Molino del Sureste is it! ✨ The owner is incredibly personable and took the time to walk us through the dishes and flavors like we were guests in his home — major points for that. 🙌 We started with chips and a dip... which, honestly, the chips didn't taste super fresh and the dip wasn’t my jam (but hey, we're here for honesty, right?). 🌽👎 BUT THEN. Cue the culinary fireworks. 🎇 We ordered the Kaaxil Sikil (pepita dumplings) — little flavor bombs floating in an achiote garlic broth that I wanted to bathe in. 🍴🤤 My sister — ever the traditionalist — ordered tacos (of course lol 🌮😂), while I leveled up with the Huarache de Camote. Think: a corn base, smoky local sweet potatoes, salsa macha, house-made requesón, fresh oranges, frisée, and herbs — an absolute flavor explosion in every bite. 💥🌽🍠 I was so full but I couldn’t stop eating. (No regrets.) Took a quarter home, reheated it the next day, and it was still slapping. 🔥 If you want to try something authentically different, bursting with love, history, and flavor — RUN to El Molino del Sureste. 🏃‍♀️🌶️ Your taste buds will thank you.

I was treated to a celebratory dinner at El Molino to mark a big career milestone, and everything about the evening was perfect. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, the service was great, and the tapas-style Mexican menu made for such a fun and flavorful dining experience. We shared several small plates, and I highly recommend the stuffed poblano pepper—absolutely packed with flavor. From tacos to shrimp to house cocktails, every dish and sip was on point. El Molino is a fantastic place for a group night out, especially when you want to try a little bit of everything. The shared plates encouraged conversation, laughter, and lots of “you have to try this!” moments. Feeling grateful for the amazing company, great food, and a restaurant that helped make the celebration even more special. Already planning my return visit! 💬 What’s your favorite dish here—or do you have another tapas-style STL spot I should try next? ✨ Follow me for more food adventures, celebration spots, and STL gems! #TheSassySaint #ElMolinoSTL #STLEats #TapasMexicanStyle #FoodieAdventures #GirlsNightOut #WomenSupportingWomen #SmallPlatesBigFlavor

Google
Excellent Mexican Yucatan experience. Small plates, share plates and the kitchen serves you as they see works best with what you have chosen. We each had 2 different tacos to start. The meat was perfectly cooked and the sauces very complex, just awesome. The we shared the pork belly chops. Again, cooked to perfection. The outer skin/fat layer was cooked crispy and the meat was buttery. It was served with warm tortillas and a slaw. Outstanding. This is a new must try I'm south city.

Excellent! Definitely the best tacos in STL i’ve tasted so far!! And im coming from living in LA where the taco game is competitive! Everything tonight was so delicious, beautiful presentation, the meat in the tacos were so saucy, moist and packed with flavor! Our waiter Miguel was kind, informative and the other staff members were so mindful and attentive too. Easy parking out front. We booked a 5:30pm reservation for right when it opened and it wasn’t packed, but by the time 6:30pm hit it was 70% full. Be adventurous and try the candied squash called Dulce De Calabaza for dessert! So unique and yummy! Tasted like pancakes! We tried two of the drinks they had with this unique liqueur called Sotel as well and they were both yum. We bought 2 drinks, shared 4 plates, 1 dessert, got a complimentary basket of chips and dipand it cost about $100 total after tip for a 2 person date night. The caliber of the food was worth the cost. Especially since they adhere the the farm to table mentality. 100% going back.

Google
absolutely fantastic! mostly Yucatan and the flavors are very full. the mole negro is everything you want it to be. don't skip the pork belly taco! the drinks were all great and I'm very partial to that cacao infused mezcal old fashioned. omg. definitely coming back to try out the other half of the menu

Google
We had an amazing first experience here and will return! They are 100% gluten free (with exception of bottled beer) and that is unbelievable and so wonderful! It was a great feeling to feel safe eating at a restaurant and to be able to order anything I want off of the menu. They do all of their own milling in house which is so great! It shows the level of care that they have for their food quality. The food is AMAZING. It is so well developed, authentic, flavorful, inventive, and unique. We loved everything we tried. We had: pepita dumplings, sea scallops in mole, coconut shrimp taco, and 2 various pork tacos. Our favorites were the scallops and shrimp taco, but again everything was wonderful and developed with its own unique flavors. My husband very much enjoyed his margarita - said it was very well done. Service was great. Very well attentive, and they did a great job of describing dishes to us. The build your own tasting menu / shareable / tapas style experience is really great and allows you to try so many things. For the experience, the food quality, and the cuisine, it is also very well priced.

I visited this spot 2 weeks ago and I have to say my food was delicious! Laid back atmosphere and very comfortable. I had a chance to meet the brothers, who are very cool. There's a small patio setting out front if you wish to get so.e fresh air while you dine. They also carry my favorite beer, Modelo😊. Go check these guys out and tell em Bronco sent cha! Cheers

Yelp
I highly highly recommend El Molino del Sureste, where I sampled the cochinita pibil taco, the taco de castacan (crispy pork skin), the taco de camarones al coco (coconut-masa fried shrimp, gluten-free!), and the panucho de pavo, a bean-stuffed tortilla with smoked turkey. All were excellent, but that panucho de pavo was SPECTACULAR. Hard to describe how the tortilla is just, like, lightly lined with a layer of silken refried beans? They do all their masa work in-house. Chef's kiss. (NOTE: I live in Los Angeles, and I don't fuck around with tacos.)

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, because the employees were so nice and I really liked the owner. However, the cost for the food was not worth what you got and, overall, a decent amount of the stuff we got didn't have an awesome taste. By that I mean, the taste of the dessert we got was so bad that we couldn't consume more than one bite and were so disappointed by the experience - it felt like gastronomy gone SO wrong. Additionally, we waited forever for everything to come out and for service in general. The place was cute and the owner was a really cool dude, but I can't recommend to come here when we waited forever, had food that didn't taste great, and paid a lot. Hopefully they get some kinks worked out and things get better in the future.

Yelp
What a gem. And 10% off on Thursdays for Southampton residents. Food was fresh. The tostadas were made from blue corn and you could taste it. Very nice. The seafood was fresh and tender and the combo of flavors and textures was very nice. The carnitas were pork feet but we are morons and didn't realize that's what trotters meant. If we had to have them anywhere this was it because they were pretty good honestly. We were wondering why it was a little tough to chew at times. Whoops.

Yelp
Be prepared to spend money, OK! One of my cocktails was almost $20! It's a farm-to-table Mexican restaurant serving authentic Yucatán cuisine with small plates and shareable options, most of which have a kick (spice) to them! I loved my blue crab tostada and everything tasted fresh. The food had unique flavors I've never had before and it was delish. The only downfall was that there was only one server and he had a difficult time with our bill and service was slow.

Yelp
Do not go here expecting your typical Mexican restaurant, with chips and salsa. DO go here for some amazing elevated dishes, and fantastic cocktails. Really enjoyed everything we had, the spot is super nice and has a cute patio out front. The service was great as well. My only gripe is that it is a tad expensive. Still, I cannot wait to go back and try new things.

Yelp
The food here was excellent. We ordered multiple items, most of them seafood offerings. The scallops were perfect, the aguachile was as well. The octopus "braised in its own ink" was the best octopus dish I have ever had. Our server seemed new, but the rest of the team helped her out and made up for a few minor transgressions My main complaint and reason for 4 stars was the ambiance. It was veryyyy dark. The vibe didn't match the food being served. The decor was off and somewhat dated. And the open kitchen felt cluttered rather than cultivated. I hope that this place does well so they can invest in some updates to their space.

Yelp
El Molino "the mill" del Sureste is a unique take on Mexican cuisine offering traditional Yucatán bites. The Blue Crab Tostada, Squash Blossom Tostada, and Octopus Ceviche were delicious choices... It is #stlouispescatarianapproved The Seafood Rice Dish is a flavorful and satisfying choice for a main course. It's a lil' spicy though. The fact that this spot is 100% gluten-free means it's a great option for those with dietary restrictions. Mayan patterns and the bright yellow aesthetic creates a visually appealing and culturally rich atmosphere. Oh, and one of every dessert please! Creative & unique! Loved it!

Yelp
This is not a Mexican restaurant. Yes, it is food from or of Mexico, specifically the Yucatan peninsula or perhaps Mayan originality. But don't come in expecting a bowl of chips with salsa and a margarita or three. You won't find them here. DO come in thinking of this as a tapas-style Yucatan/Mayan restaurant, one with richly flavored, crafted dishes. Now one of the owners did stop and chat with us (the other was busy cooking), and politely pushed back when I said I thought of El Molino as more of a Latin Tapas restaurant than a Mexican restaurant. He said it is Mexican food, and he's not wrong - but it's not what 'Muricans think of as Mexican food. Perhaps had I thought at the time to say Yucatan Tapas, he would not have objected. Regardless, we had great, flavorful food in a relaxed atmosphere. The wife and I being teetotalers, I can't offer comment on the alcoholic drink menu. But we did order Champurrado de chocolate (Mexican hot chocolate), which was pretty tasty. For our food selections, we had never had any of the choices before. Even the taco was different - described as achiote-citrus pork, marinated onion, habanero. As was the tostada de ceviche Mexicano - shrimp, tomato, lime, onion, chile, cilantro. As I alluded above, every item was richly flavored, as well as being pleasingly crafted and presented. Their tortillas are not just cooked in house, but the (blue for ours) corn masa is actually milled in house. Being, in my mind, a tapas restaurant, the menu is divided into antojitos (snacks), ligero (lighter fare), guisos (stews and braises), moles, and platos fuertes (larger plates). So there are over 30 choices, a pretty wide selection. And as with tapas restaurants, the prices can add up quickly. This is not atypical, even though I'm always a bit surprised when I get the bill at a tapas place. Of course, there is always the option to choose a couple of the platos fuertes as typical entrees and avoid the tapas route. Each item ordered came out when it was ready, rather than all at once. We were there early, so it wasn't yet crowded. Some dishes came quickly, but others took longer than I would have expected. That was no problem for us, as we were enjoying a relaxed dinner. But as the evening progressed, others may wind up with a longer wait for food than desired. For us, the flavors and attentive staff (which I neglected to mention above) made it a five start meal.

Yelp
Very cool laid-back ambience. The food is authentic and very delicious. Lots of big bold flavors and good size portions. It seemed like Everybody in this restaurant on this staff works together and has a similar end goal. Great open kitchen so you can watch the chefs prepare your food. Highly recommend going in on a weekday evening when the place isn't going wild. For a restaurant and food of this quality, the price point is very reasonable. It's obvious the kitchen is very detail oriented and FOH seems to be as well. Altogether a great experience.

Yelp
Fabulous. Just delicious. Everything we had was wonderful. We had the grilled mackerel which is an entire fish served with tortillas and it was outstanding. The mushrooms with the little dumplings were incredible. We had the octopus which was great. And these little round stuffed things that were so good we ordered more. We were expecting to spend a lot of money and maybe leave hungry because it is a "small plate" place. But we were absolutely stuffed and thought everything was reasonable. Super nice folks there. We sat at the bar so we could see things being made (and play some games), and enjoyed chatting with folks about g the the food. So glad they opened!!

Yelp
Cute place, family owned. Unique dishes. Friendly staff service. Drinks are great. Shareable plates and large plates. Large plate big enough to split and take home for next day. Will be back.

Yelp
This place was awesome, the vibe fun (maybe the music was even a bit too loud), the plates nicely presented with very interesting flavors, not the typical Mexican food - Our party very much enjoyed the Mackerel, the octopus and the braised venison among other small plates. There were so many flavors! It was a bit spicy (it was good, just fyi). The server was one of the owner and told us a bit about the history of the food and recipes.

Karishma B.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious -- we had a great experience!! This place is run by two brothers, it is clearly a labor of love! The food was truly other worldly! We are vegans and this restaurant had ample, traditionally vegan options that truly blew our mind. The flavors, spices, and herb garnishes make this restaurant stand out from a lot of other restaurants in the city serving "elevated fare." This place is a must-go if you are vegan, or looking for a unique culinary experience. I see a lot of reviews complaining about "slow service" and price -- you have to realize they are making these masterpieces as you order. This is a culinary excursion. We were shocked that this was so affordable given the high quality of the food and the portion sizes. If you want cheap American food served quickly, go to McDonald's or Taco Bell or put some toasted ravioli in the air fryer lol. This is a traditional food experience with the freshest of fresh ingredients. We arrived around 7pm and we were still eating at 8:30. There was a constant stream of food, but it was served course by course with some spaces in between. It was absolutely perfect! Do not change a thing!

Brian G.

Yelp
The food was very unique and aligned with traditional food items. This is not an Mexican American restaurant and I was so glad it wasn't. Many places claiming traditional or authentic cuisine serve Americanized nonsense. This food provided an experience. All of the dishes were delicious and I tried 5 different items and a dessert. Everyone was very friendly and gave a lot of the story behind the food and the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place for people looking to step outside of the box and experience real Mexican/Mayan cuisine.

Yelp
I rarely give bad reviews to a restaurant because I know what it means to them. We were excited to check out this new spot in stl since their menu featured moles, which is some of my favorite food. We had a party of 8 and the food started out good... but VERY SLOW SERVICE. Our server kept telling us they are "coursing" our meal, which felt like eternity our reservation was at 7:30pm and we didn't get our last plate of food until 9:45pm... it's not like the restaurant was packed or anything. At some point we thought she just forgot to put the dishes in. When the food came, the mackerel fish and the scallop dish was raw. I would have been ok with it if the manager didn't come over and told me it was how it's supposed to be served.. we had some good dishes but most of the dishes were actually underwhelming. I definitely won't be back nor would I recommend this place.

Yelp
Unique menu for both food & cocktails. We enjoyed the shareable portions to try more of the menu! The tacos & tostadas are a must!

Yelp
Sincerely one of the best meals I have ever had. We went with a group and tried a ton of things. The squash blossom tacos, pepita dumplings, scallops, crab tostada and whole roasted fish were some of the standouts, but everything we tried was fresh, interesting and beautifully plated. Some diners said it's pricy, but it's all scratch cooked and the staff is amazing. Chef Alex even made us some special things to try. Definitely worth a try if you want something different!

Yelp
Welp...got to the spot to have dinner with family. Noise level including music was low enough to allow for normal volume across the table. 3 of the 4 of us ordered alcoholic drinks. I don't drink alcohol and I do love me some diet cola. So..."ma'am can I have a Diet Coke?" "Nope, our soda machine had been down for a month and we don't have any tea either"... got it, so sounds like I'll be drinking this water. Looked at the menu for a while which all seemed like it was trying too hard to be more than it needed to be but I'm new here, the places is recommended, let's give it a whirl. Wait a minute, if you're fancy enough for $28 mole and mushroom plates, somebody could've ran to the nearest Schnucks and grabbed a case of soda to put behind the bar and sold them to me at three dollars a hit, I would've at least bought a couple. But no, I'll just drink my water. My sister ordered some Chicharróns and then we all looked at the menu a bit longer to order some more food. When coming to take the rest of our order, our server noted, the food won't be brought out the way you order it. It'll be brought out in the timing and order we think it should be served. , No ma'am if I order my tacos, bring me my tacos. If I order some of the other weird stuff on this menu, just bring it all to me. This ain't really a degustation menu so please quite trying to be that pretentious. My family ordered the blue crab tostada, that Molay and mushroom plate and some small scallop dish. Family said with food was good but who's paying these high prices for food that is just "good". My wife said her drink tasted like freezer burn. Why my wife knows what freezer burn tastes like I have no idea, but it did tell me that her drink was not particularly yummy. Service was OK. They did fix the wobbly table when I first mentioned it as we first sat down. As a table, we decided we could finish this little bit of food and then go somewhere else for dinner which we did. I can absolutely appreciate a chef with a fusion idea and I absolutely want them to be able to make as much money as they can, especially in the food industry, you just can't make it off food that is just OK. I looked at the rest of the clientele and I will tell you that they're just a different client than my family. All the best, we just won't be back...least until that month long broken soda machine gets fixed ‍

Yelp
My new favorite restaurant in St. Louis. Everything was amazing! The service was outstanding and the food was so tasty. Our table ordered 8 different dishes and they were all fantastic!

Yelp
Excellent food. Artfully prepared and plated. Looking at pictures on Instagram I felt unsure of whether or not I would enjoy the dishes, but each one we sampled was packed with flavor. The passionfruit cocktail with tamarind-chile syrup in it packed more heat than I expected but was still refreshing and well-balanced. The tostada with blue crab was a favorite at our table!

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere can't wait to return and try something new.food was great server was nice

Yelp
Food was excellent. It was unexpected and delicious . Food from the Yucatán peninsula includes turkey and venison along with the more familiar chicken / pork /fish . The menu also includes the owners grandmothers recipes lovingly recreated . We ate a lot of food. First the two types of pork fritters . Then the delicious beet salad , after that the scallops in white chocolate mole ( delicious but less savory than expected) and a grilled whole mackerel with salsa matcha . Then came the venison dish and the pork and turkey dish . For dessert we had the flan con queso and pastelitos with sweet potatoes . Drinks were great . Out of the many drinks is we tried we loved the mezcal old fashioned the best of all . The others were pretty solid as well . The tortillas kept coming and our water glasses were always full. The service was fantastic . That evening one of the owners was working due to staffing issues and his presence helped shape our food and drink choices . The ambience is cozy and I love the yellow hues on the wall as well as the decor . The whole experience was pricey but for the delicious food , drinks and culinary education , I would do it again ! Sorry I didn't take any pics . We were too busy eating .

Yelp
I see what they're going for. And I can see segments of STL supporting a Mexican inspired tapas restaurant. We ordered several plates and cocktails tonight. High points include the beverages and the pepita soup. The mole under the scallops was also good but the scallops were undercooked. The dishes are VERY small - even for tapas. On the downside was the ambiance with incredibly uncomfortable seating and sticky plastic table coverings. The music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other and it's very dark toward the front where we were seated. Flashlights out! Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made good suggestions. Our bill for 5, which included only two entrees, was $300 including the tip. Not my vibe but cheers to the owner and chef for doing something different in this city of boring food.

Jackie C.

Yelp
The food was tasty, and much more interesting than the usual types of Mexican-ish food available in this region. Portions were on the small side, even for shared small plates. I had a daiquiri, which was very good. There are no attractive non-alcoholic options, which is disappointing. I don't know if they have coffee--it was not offered with dessert. Service was pretentious, yet slow and inattentive. However, the owner seemed very nice! The space is just plain confusing. Given that they're going for a somewhat upscale experience, the oilcloth covered tables, harsh lighting, lack of sound dampening, and plainly visible bug zapper seem at odds with the menu and pricing.

Alessandro L.

Yelp
What are we talking about?! The best mexican food in town. Hands down. Food made me tear up. It's not a cheap restaurants, but the quality you get it's unbelievable. Great service, great cocktails, amazing food. I will ve back for sure.

Billy M.

Yelp
We went with a party of 10, and early in their tenure. So some hiccups are excusable and even expected. However, we did not receive several ordered plates, even after 3 hours of "dining." Several of us left wanting to stop by a late night diner to actually have dinner. One of my highly anticipated dishes, the octopus, was never served, among others. That said, the food we did get was excellent. The service was very friendly and accommodating, apologizing for the missed dishes and handling the billing appropriately. One of the founders also expressed his regret for the missteps. And the cocktails were decent, though a little overpriced. I will definitely give them another chance, perhaps on just a date night. But not with a larger party. And I will modify my rating accordingly.

Jan P.

Yelp
Went last Saturday for dinner with my wife. The ambiance is nice. Very dark with about 14 tables and a bar. Looked like it would be a romantic choice for a first date. We ordered the Gordita de Rajas to start. This appetizer was almost inedible. A thick, dense masa with cheese; It was rather flavorless and actually hard to cut. Next, we ordered the Cayo de Hacha (scallops). The taste was good. Interesting blend of mole and spices, but it came with only three small scallops. At $27 it was not worth it and is certainly not enough food for even one person. We also ordered the Chile en Nogado. This took awhile to come out and the poblano pepper was undercooked/ and cold. The lamb picadillo stuffing was basically rare. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with our meal. On the bright side the service was good and the wine was affordable. Another gripe was that they add a 5% service charge to the bill for the kitchen staff. I hate it when restaurants do this as it leads to confusion about how much to tip the server (i.e., only 15%, since there is already a 5% service charge included? 20%? Who knows?). Just increase the food prices by what you need in order to adequately pay the staff instead of confusing (and irritating) your guests with nickel and dime charges.

Paul B.

Yelp
We finally found this establishment open for dinner but we had to call first to make sure. Other dinner times we visited the establishment was closed due to a kitchen emergency or just closed without explanation. The menu offerings were unique and boasted Yucatán cuisine. Dinner tacos (one and a la cart) are small and are $8 expensive with not much flavor or anything else on the plate. If you're hungry for a taco, go elsewhere. The ambiance is okay but not comfortable when or if this place is packed. Probably too noisy and the seating is too close to each other for privacy, intimacy, and conversation. Not pleasant, relaxing or enjoyable. The service was so-(so) but for a $100+ meal we would expect much better service than received. Fast food service is what we experienced. One take away was the Goat Cheese Flan worth a mention but noting on the menu are worth a second chance. Overall, save your time, money, palate and enjoy dinner elsewhere. This establishment and menu offering is overpriced for this type of cuisine when the ingredients are local, typical, ordinary and tasteless. Nothing to brag or boast about with this restaurant establishment.

Esmeny R.

Yelp
overprice. I feel scammed, ordered queso empanadas that were literally flat mozzarella sticks. flavor was okay for the tacos but also overpriced for small tacos that didn't have enough meat and a bunch of cilantro. waitress recommended the Mezcal with guava drink that tasted like an ash tray. Mezcal has a strong taste as a person that lived in Oaxaca where Mezcal originated from I didn't even taste it. definitely do not recommend. for two tiny tacos and two small "empanadas" and a small drink was $65 btw. place was empty when we walked in now I know why.

Linda O.

Yelp
Uninspired from cocktails to main course. Wondering if the chef is gone? Atmosphere was sedate and dull for a Saturday and it was impossible to order a tequila on its own- just as a horrible margarita. I do not get this place

Kaylyn S.

Yelp
El Molino is an outstanding culinary experience. The Chef brings his heritage and talent to EVERY dish. I would pay any amount of money for this food because I know the meat is locally sourced and the chef goes out of his way to cultivate the freshest, ingredients. Can't wait to go back!

Clayton K.

Yelp
The scallops in white chocolate mole was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The octopus cooked in its own ink was astounding. Highly, highly recommend.

Wow--had a fantastic meal here, everything really good, great vibe, wonderful staff and charming chef. It's been a little while but I remember the mackerel and the pepita dumpling app especially standing out. Super creative Mexican cuisine, one of the best Latin meals we've had anywhere, and one of the best restaurants in STL. Easily better than the Michelin-starred Latin restaurant we recently tried in NYC (Oxomoco).

Yelp
Welcome to the neighborhood El Molino! You had me at homemade tortillas! I have a dairy sensitivity so going out is always a hurdle for me but not here! The server asked about allergies etc and when I mentioned I had an issue she was very accommodating and helped me with the menu. I was able to eat almost everything, but if I wanted the few of the items that had the dairy I couldn't eat they would have made the necessary changes. We started with the blue crab tostada which was dynamite! The ceviche tostada just as good! We also had the whole mackerel, a venison sausage dish and the octopus which all came with the delicious tortillas! The ink sauce on the octopus was so good I'm still thinking of it! The drinks were good and the space is open and inviting with the tortilla maker up front and center. It was busy but we could still have a nice conversation. It was nice to have something different.

Yelp
All of the food was absolutely amazing! Our server was very knowledgeable about every plate. We never had empty drink glasses. Everyone was polite. The mole was out of this world. The ambiance was relaxing and it made date night so special.

Yelp
The best Mexican food I have ever had. It is unlike anything you have ever had. Amazing service! Everyone is so kind.

Yelp
This is not my granddad's Mexican restaurant. No chips and salsa. This is a highly creative take on food from the Yucatan Penninsula. The flavors are vibrant and bold. We've enjoyed everything from the whole mackarel to the pepita dumpling soup. Abby is an excellant server with a complete knowledge of the menu. The owner has come out to our table on both our visits and lends to the small and familial feel. This is our new favorite restaurant! - Kent and Tammy

Yelp
I would like to start off by stating the service was great, our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and did a great job. However, the food was not worth the price. We did enjoy one of the tacos that we ordered (the castican taco) but the smoked tomato braised pork taco was overdone and contained gristle. The octopus was good, as well as the scallops on top of mole (I can't remember the name at the moment). However, the skatewing was unimpressive (this might be my own personal taste) and we had to wait over 40 minutes for this dish. It was an okay experience but I did not feel good about spending $170 there as opposed to other options in St. Louis within a higher end price range. We will not be returning, but there were a few good parts of the meal.

Yelp
A little on the pricey side, but the flavors are out of this world. The small plates were fantastic, and the white chocolate mole scallops were unlike any dish I've ever tried.

Yelp
This restaurant is an experience that I hope everyone gets to have! The food here is amazing!! This was recommended to me by the owner of another restaurant I go to and I can't thank that person enough. Each bite here is like a little piece of heaven! It's like a perfect combination of flavors in your mouth. The little bite-size portions are beautiful in the way they looked and in the way the flavors combined. I just can't wait to go back and have more. The shareable meal was delicious and definitely shareable. The way the spices and the smells and the flavors came together is mouthwatering and my partner, and I, just couldn't get over how good everything was. My partner also had a small coffee drink and we shared a small coconut pudding dessert that was rich and sweet and the perfect ending to the perfect meal. It was all just so good. I felt like I was at a five star Gordon Ramsay type restaurant where all of the flavors and all of the portions were just so unique and amazing and it was an experience in every bite. We ended up being stuffed. We can't wait to go back. Also, I'm celiac and I can't have any gluten and everything here is naturally gluten-free so it takes that worry out of my night. The owner was so kind and explained the dishes to us from a cultural standpoint and also talked about how they frequently change the dishes seasonally. I'm just blown away by this place. They also sell tortillas there of different sizes and made from different types of corn (blue, white, yellow). I took some of those home, and I've already eaten those with different things at my home, and they were delicious. I will definitely be back. I would recommend setting a reservation if you're going during a busy time or if you're going with a large group. I think this will be one of my favorite spots in St. Louis. The only downside to this place is probably the parking. All parking seems to be on the street so just be aware of that. Also, this is not TexMex. This is authentic Yucatán cuisine so if you're looking for chips and salsa, and that sort of fair, this is not what you're looking for. This is very unique and true to the area it's from. This is a classy/upgraded version of what Jeff, the owner, grew up on from his grandma. This is not something I think you'll easily find somewhere else and that is part of what is so special about it. It does have a little spice kick, but be aware I'm a big wuss, so you have to take my opinion with a grain of salt. I'm the mild Indian food girl, so it doesn't take much for me. :) The staff was very knowledgeable, though, and they directed me to what was more, or less, spicy. Hope you love it like we did.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this new restaurant in my neighborhood, but am sorry to report that we waited for 10 minutes to receive our drinks and then weren't given an opportunity to order food for the 30 plus minutes we stayed after that. We decided to leave before ordering food, I'm afraid. This restaurant consistently receives rave reviews for the food--so I hope I'll have the opportunity to try it some time. For now, waiting for 45 minutes without being given the chance to order is a disqualifier.

Yelp
All around excellent dining experience. Delicious tacos and wonderful service. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Be prepared to spend some money... I realize these are supposed to be shared bites, but having said that , price and quantity does not commensurate, particularly when you're talking about an inexpensive meat like pork. It may just be my opinion, but I think their profit margins are way too high - food was very tasty. Service was attentive, although the restaurant was empty . If you don't mind a high price in the value to quantity ratio, I recommend this place!

Yelp
Wonderful experience tasting the food from southern Mexico. This restaurant hits the spot with their authentic and delicious dishes, from the venison tacos, to the octopus cooked in its ink. This restaurant does not disappoint and I highly recommend you visit them. Super nice folk and a great atmosphere.

Yelp
The food and cocktails were so flavorful! Every bite and sip was amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We decided the food was so delicious, we had to make room for dessert. We will definitely be returning soon to try other dishes!

Yelp
Food was ok. However, the service was awful. There are better dining options in St. Louis for much lower prices.
