El Patio 77

"How did it strike you on arrival? This 1890s-era stone building is homey and inviting, but also elegant. I was first struck by the period-looking woodern staircase, then I caught sight of the beautiful, tiled floors. Nice. What’s the crowd like? The crowd is mainly couples in their thirties who eschew chain hotels in traditional tourist zones. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The eight rooms (six suites and two standard rooms) are uniquely decorated, incorporating traditional materials in a contemporary way. They're named for different Mexican states and each one reflects something of the handicrafts of its namesake region. You'll want to spend time exploring all of the different objects before you head out into the city. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Comfortable white linens are topped with colorful cushions and bedspreads. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? You'll want to know where you can buy the rugs. And the pillows. And the wall art. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathrooms, like the rooms, are all uniquely decorated: some have a modern feel while others are more rustic-chic. Note that the two standard rooms have a shared bathroom, so if worry about bumping into a stranger while brushing your teeth, opt for one of the suites. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? There is free high-speed Internet in every room and across the hotel. Room service: Worth it?There's no full-service restaurant, but breakfast is served each morning in a beautiful central patio (and it's included in the price of the room). What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?El Patio 77 is one of the few hotels in Mexico City that's environmentally conscious: Water in the showers and sinks are heated by solar energy and recycled into for use in sewage." - Susannah Rigg

We loved our stay at El Patio 77! The rooms/property are just as pictured, even better in real life! We stayed in the Chiapas Suite and loved the king bed and spacious seating area. We loved the mid-century modern furniture mixed with raw woods and traditional textiles, great vibes. The staff was excellent and it was so relaxing to have a fresh breakfast only a few steps away. Coffee, fresh juice, fruit with yogurt and granola, plus a different main dish each day! The hotel is outside the traditional tourist neighborhoods (which we prefer) but was very safe and had plenty of cafes and places to visit. We'd recommend El Patio 77 to any of our friends visiting CDMX and would ONLY stay here if we visit again!

Exceptional! We came to El Patio 77 for our honeymoon and could not have been better looked after. I think it may have been the best place we have ever stayed on a holiday. Warm, excellently designed and homely rooms. great location, great food. I cannot fault El Patio at all! A special shout out goes to the staff who gave fantastic recommendations and went out of their way to be warm, friendly, and genuinely made us feel like friends. Also Bonito the dog is a delight. I doubt I will stay anywhere that was as special as EL Patio 77 again... So that means I'll have to come back!

Where to begin, my wife Kenia and I stayed at this wonderful, enchanting place just last week. I have fallen in love with the City of Mexico and it's great people. The host is amazing as well as the staff, even the resident dog Bonito (he loves to play). Once is not enough, we plan to go back many more times, it was some of the best times I've ever spent with my wife, what a great way to celebrate being together for 10 years now, Thank you so very much for opening your doors to us! Take care, see you soon...

Lovely building and beautiful rooms and the best breakfast in CDMX! The staff were lovely, helpful and accommodating. Our beds were remade everyday and we received a fresh jug of water everyday.

El patio 77 was such an amazing place to spend our vacation. The staff was incredible, the breakfast was amazing and if you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet Bonito the dog during your stay. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcomed. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast for your stay!

ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL - El Patio 77 is so special. The moment you step inside it’s like being transported to a secret garden. You can see that the owners put so much love into the property and take a lot of pride in it. We stayed in the Oaxaca room which was huge and very comfortable, some road noise during the day but very quiet at night. The neighborhood felt very safe and provided easy access by Uber to everywhere we wanted to go. The daily breakfasts were delicious and service was wonderful. Highly highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

We absolutely adored our stay at El Patio and cannot wait to come back!! The rooms are spacious, incredibly well cleaned, and tastefully well decorated. The staff (!!) are absolutely delightful: friendly (including queer friendly), kind, helpful, and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome to the hotel and to CDMX. The location is in a quiet residential neighborhood, walking distance to neighboring cafes, restaurants, bars, markets, pharmacy, bodegas, hair/nail salons, etc., as well as to the nearest subway just a 5 minute walk away. 15/10 recommend, and we very much so look forward to being back soon! Muchisimas gracias por todo a El Patio y hasta la proxima (:

I ended up staying here for one night after the Airbnb I stayed in couldn’t extend my reservation. I’m happy I got to experience El Patio 77! I traveled solo and felt very safe in the neighborhood. The grounds are beautiful and my room was clean, cozy with a mini balcony. The kind staff was a highlight. They made me feel welcomed plus the pup Benito! I would stay here again when I return to CDMX - and highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality place and a unique experience.

Yelp
We love this place. It's actually two beautiful 19th century houses that have been spliced together, retaining their gorgeous historical motifs but with an overlay of super-sophisticated of-the-moment decor. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious and served in the hotel's enclosed patio with its soaring two story roof and hanging plants. Guests should be advised that El Patio 77 prides itself on being ecologically conscious--this is not the place to take a decadent bubble bath or a long steamy shower. The neighborhood is a "real"(ie non-touristy) place with some great dining options (El Asadero is a local favorite) and it's close to the metro. The staff couldn't be more helpful, and there's even a security guard on duty over night.

Yelp
El Patio 77 provided us with an amazing and welcoming atmosphere in Mexico City. This place is a wonderful bed and breakfast very close to the subway. Our flight arrived earlier than our scheduled check-in time, but the staff at El Patio 77 worked with us and stored our luggage in the main office until our room was ready. This was an amazing start to our trip and it allowed us to enjoy the city for a few hours until our room was ready. The staff spoke English and of course Spanish beautifully. The room. What can I say about the room. It was stunning. We stayed in the Guerrero room, which doesn't have a private bathroom, but this was never an issue throughout the trip. Every morning, we had the option of enjoying breakfast with the wonderful chefs at El Patio 77. The food was delicious and it was a great way to start the day. We had pancakes, enfrijoladas, fresh fruit everyday... simply awesome. I really have never felt more welcome on an international trip. I would highly recommend El Patio 77 if you are looking to be near la reforma in Mexico City. Ride the subway nearby! It's only a few pesos and it can get you down to the historic district in a few minutes time!

Yelp
This b&b is really fantastic. Location is very close to the San Cosme subway stop and the neighborhood is very residential. New art galleries are popping up on the block so it is interesting to walk around as well. Breakfasts are different each day of the week and all taste amazing. Room is huge and decor is pretty. Cleaning is daily and they give you free drinkable water.

Yelp
Very nice place but be aware of the suite on the ground floor. It has very bad air quality and is noisy since it's inches from the street.

Yelp
Fantastic B&B which is more of a small hotel in San Rafael. Perfect staff, perfect establishment with beautiful rooms in a quite and old Mexican neighborhood. Safe as a foreigner to kick it in the streets and get some great food and wares. This Eco-hotel rocks it for sure with great designed spaces and cool owners, Diego & Pedro.

Yelp
Patio 77 is exactly as described in other glowing reviews. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well decorated. The building itself is beautiful and there are some cool spots nearby. What really stood out was the staff. I can't remember the last time I stayed at a place as welcoming. I'll be staying here again

Yelp
El Patio 77 is simply magical. I stayed there on my last trip to Mexico City several years ago and fell in love with the beauty, warmth, and splendor of this gem of a B&B. On a long overdue trip back to CDMX last week, I returned to discover that it retains all the charm I remembered even as it expanded to include additional guest rooms. The proprietors, including Elvia and Sergio, are a delight to talk to - they are so welcoming and take such care to ensure every guest has a perfect stay. They even helped me chart out a tour of galleries and local art spaces in the city. The rooms are creatively and tastefully decorated with art and vintage pieces. And the breakfasts are delicious! I can't sing enough praise for this place. The neighborhood is also great to explore, and close to all the central areas, monuments, and nightlife of the city but still quiet, charming and not too touristy. If you visit CDMX and don't stay at El Patio 77 you are missing out on a truly special and unique experience. I can't wait to return again soon!
