Google
I've always been a customer at Pavo Bakery because of the quality of the bread, but I used to be treated poorly. The older women were always throwing bread at me and were very rude to the customers. But I went back recently and a new girl served me wonderfully, and I like her service.

Sunshine Allen

Google
The lady is friendly and the bread looks quite nice. She even told me to change to another croissant coz the one I took was too small. lol

Google
The bread is good. BUT NOT WHEN THEY OVERCHARGE AND DONT GIVE RECEIPTS. 🧾 They don’t tell you how much or for what they are charging. They do the math in their head and over charge and frequent customers can tell. JUST GO TO BIG SAVER THEY HAVE A FRESH BAKERY AND BETTER BOLIO.

Chino Soliz

Google
They recommended bread from the Pavo Bakery to me. It's the first time I've bought bread. I liked it a lot and also received good service from the employed

Google
The best Mexican bread around the area food is OK , cakes also are really good if you're in the mood of some good Mexican bread with some hot chocolate this is the place to go.

Christina Ramirez

Google
I’ve been coming here since I’ve been a little girl it’s my favorite the bread is always fresh never hard like some places!!!! I hope it never closes 🫶🏽

Sandra Esparza

Google
I have been going for many years and the bread is always really good.

Google
El Pavo is a treasure, and Doña Elia always makes our day, she remembers everyone’s name and always greets us with a smile. The breads are all delicious, we are loving the Pan De Muerto right now. We get every birthday cake made there. Other places need days of advance notice. El Pavo does custom cakes with less that 24 hours turn around. Thank you for making all our celebrations so delicious 💕

Yelp
Some of the best conchas around. They have a great texture to the bread, and just the right amount of sweetness. The make them in mini, regular and humungous! Seriously they make one that is bigger than a sourdough loaf and it's like $6. It's a small place and items are sold out depending on demand. I've been there and had tons and tons of selection fresh and being stocked and other times almost nothing left. They have tons of really good types of pan dulce and galletas. They also have really good jamoncillo and dulce de leche near the register.

Yelp
Growing up, El Pavo was ALWAYS a weekend staple. Fresh and warm from the oven, we would eat our pan dulce with chocoláte caliente for breakfast. Lately, not only has the quality gone down, but so has the selection. I was craving AUTHENTIC MEXICAN pan dulce, so on the way home from errands we stopped in around 11am. Upon checking the breads, I could tell that most of them were day old bread (cold and hard). As we went to check out, the lady at the counter was bagging everything with tongs, then I noticed that she was taking CASH payment and handling the customers' money WHILE BAGGING the bread, all WITHOUT GLOVES. That was the last straw. I will NEVER buy at El Pavo Lincoln Heights again. From now on, when I want pan dulce, I will make the drive to Whittier and go to El Gallo! I have NEVER been dissatisfied or disappointed with their quality, selection, or cleanliness.

Yelp
As a Mexican, I can honestly say this place has authentic pan dulce.... been coming here for years, since it was first in Highland Park... Fresh bread daily Tried other bakeries, but honestly, they don't compare with the quality and price El Pavo offers... 10 dollars will get you a big bag of bread VS all other "trendy" or new bakeries that sell a piece of bread for 2-4 dollars a piece (right Monaraca?)... If this place ever closes I will be depressed my friends (no joke) Elote, puerquito, and Cuerno are my top choices Hope you try it... if you do.... Enjoy

Adriana P.

Yelp
The bread is good , when it's fresh and not just sitting there stale. But my main complaint is the service. The ladies handling the bread at the counter no nothing about customer service. Lack of respect, friendliness to their customers. I understand people can have bad days , but when they are consistently rude and lack any common courtesy it creates an environment that you just don't want to come back to.

Yelp
Was craving pan dulce and was so disappointed to find mold on my concha couldn't return since I was on my way to work tossed the bag.
google avatar

Liz G.

Yelp
The best pan dulce. Consistently fresh, flavorful and delicious. Been going since my childhood, always the place to go to for parties. They have mini conchas, elotes, and the mini empanadas de guava are the best.
google avatar

Bianca L.

Yelp
This bakery has all the essentials. The employees are always helpful and friendly as well. Love that make ginormous conchas. Would recommend!

Yelp
El Pavo has several locations and has been around for many years, I also consider them to be one of the better Panaderias in town, not my favorite, but pretty reliable for some good Pan Dulce. This trip was some Chocolate Conchas, Empanadas de Pina y Oreja's. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/el-pavo-bakery-los-angeles-2?select=AYTuWZQ7fpMmdd4H2nKphw https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/el-pavo-bakery-los-angeles-2?select=vDM3r8NK2pCELI4O1qxAfg

Yelp
My go to old school pan dulce stop . They have the best elotes and conchitas . Quality !
google avatar

Jimmy T.

Yelp
This spot has pretty good bread. The bread had just arrived and it was pretty good. Soft and fresh. The spot has a very old school vibe .The employees were nice. Only thing I would like to see prices on the bread.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Never again!!!! I am super disgusted with this place! I purchased a chocolate cake for my daughters 6th birthday and it was spoiled!!!!! The cake was rotten !!! My daughter was devastated ! And all the kids were upset !!!!
google avatar

Yelp
No better panadería in California with better selection or quality of authentic Mexican treats. I live in Northern California now but grew up in Pasadena where I used to have easy access to this bread. Now my parents specifically drive to this panadería from El Monte to bring me a bag when they visit. Every single piece is unique in texture and design. Every single piece is worth the price. I'm so sad I don't have them near me (honestly probably good for my waistline haha) but rejoice at every time I get the delight of eating one of their treats. Thank you! Highly recommend if you're looking for authenticity. I'd post a picture of the pan I just ate, but there's only crumbs left!

Yelp
So from recent events, I'm happy to report nothing has changed. My mother came in to purchase pan dulce and milk. The milk was spoiled and came back to Return it but due to the fact she wasn't given a receipt by your employee nothing was done. You mentioned your establishment does not want to advantage of our community but here we are. Where is this itemized list of prices you speak of? Why are your employees refusing to a receipt, this has happened on several occasions and we have to fight with the dońas sometimes. We also are a family owned business so we understand you're not able to afford specific POS systems to add your 100+ items. If this is the case why not go old school and have the cashiers write out the amounts? This is still done in other establishments so why is this any different? Please feel free to reach out to me to talk. I'm sure I am not the only person in Lincoln Heights with concerns. I have a strong believe the pan dulce is the only reason people come back but these prices and hostile customer service is ridiculous

Yelp
Thank you El Pavo!! My daughter and I LOVED the giant tortuga and baby. I greatly appreciate your fast, professionalism to order this. The bread was extra soft and delicious as always! This may be my next birthday cake

Suzy Z.

Yelp
Really expensive I got 5 different bread and it was 12.00 And the lady was really rude didn't say hi or thank you or bye Never again Don't go here
google avatar

Rosa J.

Yelp
Never again those worker need to leave no good customer service they are so rude....sorry but your losing customer..get rid of these armargadas got no skills

Carla P.

Yelp
I literally found this in MY BREAD!!! DONT EVER GO THERE!!!! I came in to complain and they told me to call their headquarters. Guess who's getting a call on Monday morning?
google avatar

Jesse C.

Yelp
Extremely expensive and the ladies that work there aren't friendly . Payed $5 for two sweet breads the first time. Second time I went I payed $19 for 7 sweet breads . That's ridiculous expensive for a Mexican bakery . Same bread will be more than half off that price elsewhere. For a ghetto part of town with bland sweet bread and cold customer service, definitely not worth coming here

Mercedes T.

Yelp
I love the cuernitos bread, sometimes a little dry or overcooked. Just need to be on top of quality.
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
I had the worst experience on Thanksgiving! When I went to the bakery to pick up an order (that I already paid for) it wasn't ready... When I asked why it wasn't ready, I was told they were busy and they sold out. I was super annoyed. I called their corporate office, I spoke to Manager of all the bakeries. She was extremely rude. The manager responded to my story with "your calling me a week later... what can I do for you?" I'm never going back.
google avatar

Sandra D.

Yelp
Love this place. The pan dulce was fresh and delicious. The champurrado was warm and rich but not overly sweet. Customer service was great. You wait in line outside and one person goes out and one goes in. Line went quickly .

Yelp
I come here solely for the pumpkin empanadas! Ok, I'll grab a puerquito and an elote as well just to not be racist. Just make sure you don't park in the little market parking lot next door. This lady (manager?) will come out ready to chop you up with her machete. Use the tiny King Taco parking lot instead or street parking if you find any. The pumpkin turnovers are overstuffed silly like nowhere else. You can taste the lard goodness as you bite into them. This is no place for pasty-faced vegans. They will encounter organ meats and chicharrones decorating the cash register area.
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
I love this panadería we've been going here for years and generations of my family have gone to buy bread here. A lot of the comments here are about the price of you want quality bread spend the money and don't complain bc this bread is by far the best better than la monarca the two lady's that were there were so nice and I appreciate the fact that they are taking this pandemic very serious they will enforce social distancing for EVERYONES safety thank you for remaining open !
google avatar

Silver G.

Yelp
I'm always very happy with the service I get from this bakery. I order often for potlucks and such at work and regardless of how late I order the day before, they always have my order ready for me at 6am. I've ordered delicious Tres Leches cakes and fresh orders of conchas and pan dulces. The ladies that work there are always very friendly and professional. I can always rely on this bakery.
google avatar

Janice S.

Yelp
I live close enough to continue enjoying this great tasting pan dulce. I grew up having it every weekend with my leche or cafe. I'm glad they are still in business all these years later to continue the tradition for my own kids. I've tried other bakeries and always go back to this one because the flavor is just perfect.

Yelp
I been coming to El Pavo for years!! I went to El Pavo and I was really disappointed to see that they sell milk that will expired in a day or two. I made the mistake of not checking the date until I was in the car my daughter mentioned, "mom this expires in two days." I was like no way but it was true. I went back to see if I can get another one that Expires Maybe in a week or two, I mean it was a gallon there is no way I can drink a gallon of milk in a day. The cashier said, "No I can't exchange it you already walked out with it." I wasn't even gone for more than a minute. Please check the Expiration date before you buy anything here specially because it is pretty pricy. I paid $5.50 for a gallon of milk that is going to Expire in two days.

Yelp
El Pavo Bakery in Lincoln Heights the lady at the cashier was rude and doesn't even greet you!
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
Honestly the softest and best pan dulce around. Saddened when they closed down the one in highland park a few years ago. Now we drive all the way to Lincoln hgts for el Pavo, but it is worth it. You can tell it's fresh. Never stale.

Michelle H.

Yelp
I LOVE EL PAVO BREAD, it's the best pan dulce ever ever ever. BUT, the old ladies who work here are always so rude. Like the rudest lol. Oh well. She yelled at me "TIENES QUE ESPERAR AFUERA," like i get it I do, but don't yell at me. Still coming back for the bread though. ‍

Monica R.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would! So upsetting! Bread had flys and looked like it was there for a while. Poor customer service! Young man ask me if I had put hand sanitizer on after seeing me put some on! That isn't even the upsetting thing is that he still had the audacity to look at me up and down just because I'm a plus size! NEVER AGAIN!
google avatar

Guillermina P.

Yelp
My name is ricky and i take my black negra to get some cheap pan with my ebt it is free

Christian G.

Yelp
Fresh pan dulce all the time, Friendly staff and some of the best bread in town. I recommend ordering the tamales de elote.
google avatar

Foodmurderer O.

Yelp
One of the better panaderias out there in the Boyle- Lincoln Heights areas. It's a very small place. I'm usually not a fan of pan dulce, but I'll eat anything from here. The conchitas are my favorites!!! I can have 10 if them in one sitting with no effort. It's the gem in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
In the area & decided to purchase pan dulce. A bit pricey. I made a few selections . Nothing really to brag about.

Onyinye A.

Yelp
Delicious Mexican bread, the best I ever eat, it's a very clean place and excellent attention; the girls who work there really love their job, they treat us with respect and kindness; Thank you Maria Pilar for your kind help and good treatment.
google avatar

Miriam D.

Yelp
This place is expensive and the bread isn't that good. We will not return to this bakery!!
google avatar

Alfred M.

Yelp
I've been coming here forever, almost every weekend for bread to go with my coffee on a weekend morning. My personal favorite is the Jalapeno Cream Cheese rolls, or if I'm having a sweet tooth then the folded up cheese danishes are a must. Traditionalists will love the old school Mexican cookies, and the conchas, which are a super airy fluffy sweet rolls with shaped sugar molded into grid like patterns on top. They also carry Tamales, so if I'm getting ready to watch football, or if friends have stayed over my house, I'll grab a few of those. I usually get Green Chicken, and Red Pork. Their coffee is OK, nothing special. If they paid more attention to their coffee, I think they'd make a killing, and get my 5th star. The place itself is tidy, they also have a little fridge with juice and milk to go if you need that. I see a lot of people go in there for birote or bollillo, which most people make tortas out of. I've never tried them, but they look great. All in all, it's one of my favorite neighborhood spots, and I hit it up regularly. I especially like the mom and pop feel, although I believe it is part of a chain.
google avatar

Javier G.

Yelp
Best pan in the city!!! Always fresh and you can taste it in every bite. The sweetness is not to much but just perfect.
google avatar

Ami T.

Yelp
It's ok. Too sweet, but then I think this kind of bread is always too sweet. but place looks clean with a lot of variety and has pretty ice cream cakes and normal cakes.

Jeanette C.

Yelp
I love this bakery always come here only problem I have is every time i want to order a customized cake I need to call the manager at another store which is karina and she is so rude always answers the phone with an attitude love the store in Lincoln heights just hate the fact that I have to deal with karina when I want to order a cake
google avatar

Mayra M.

Yelp
The bread here is the best. I love their bolillos which are 4 for a $1.00 and there is no other bakery that was such great tasting pan dulce. I do however have a complain. About 3 weeks a go I lost $400.00 in that store. I think I left my wallet on the counter as I was paying. I was talking to the cashier because there was no telera and I must have put my wallet down and I walked out of the store without it. As soon as I got to my house and before getting off the car I realized I was missing my Victoria Secret pouch with all my cash. I panicked and drove back to the bakery. I asked the cashiers if anybody had turned in a wallet and they both said no. I stood there and called the police. As I was waiting in there you I could tell that the cashier was upset that I was standing there waiting for the police to arrive. When the police get there they asked the cashiers if they had cameras in the store and they said they did but that they had no access to them only the manager. The cops called the manager who's name is Karina said she was not near the store but that she would be there the next day so that I could review the cameras with her. I called Karina the next day to meet with her and she was not in her office to answer my call. When I finally got a call from her she informed me that she had been to the store but that she did not review the cameras. She said that as soon as she had a chance she would review the cameras but there was a chance that there was nothing because after 48 hrs the erases itself. I finally talked to Karina after a couple of days and she said there was nothing in the cameras. Soooo never except management at this place to help you at all. I hold myself responsible for losing my money but they could have been more helpful. I have stopped going there because the cashier and the manager were very indifferent to my situation.

mary c.

Yelp
I think this place has the best conchas. I have tried other places, but I think this has the softest and yummiest bread. Come here and get a slice of chocolate cake for $1. It was light and not too sweet, comparable to chinese bakery cakes.

Myx R.

Yelp
I recently ordered a custom cake for my boss' birthday and it looked amazing! They print pictures on top of cakes and the writing which was made out of frosting is legible (something very uncommon) and it was really a reasonable price. Best of all everyone at my work loved it!

Anilegnave Q.

Yelp
If you know about mexican bread you will agree with me. It is real good! Their pan de muerto is the best on broadway strip!! I prefer el pavo bakery over King Taco's bakery! The 3 leches cake is very moist, just the way it's suppose to be!

Danny C.

Yelp
I think I got ripped off here. $31 for a small cake? Come on now. Lady also told me the cake was $31.50 and she ended up charging $33. Horrible horrible place. Best to stay away.

Concerned S.

Yelp
if i could i wouldnt give any stars to this place. the associates are really rude. i tried to make a purchase and asked the associate to wash her hands (she was mopping) and she refused because she said she wasn"t going to touch the bread. i insisted only to have her tell me to wait until she finished mopping. i will never purchase anything from this location and will tell everyone i know never to come to this place due to lack of customer service and unsanitary measures.
