The 16 Best Taco Spots In Mexico City

"The best $3 you can spend in Condesa is Pescadito’s quesotote taco: a corn tortilla filled with an entire chile relleno and fried shrimp. This is a casual, cafeteria-style spot with a tight selection of fried shrimp tacos, fried fish tacos, and plenty of beer. And while the menu is short, the variety of unlimited free toppings you can add to your order is anything but, with multiple salsas, coleslaw, and pickled red onion." - guillaume guevara

We were the first customers in the restaurant as they opened at 11 AM—not sure if that was a blessing or a curse. I really wish they had served us freshly fried fish and shrimp tacos instead of what seemed like reheated meat from the night before. That said, the flavor was still phenomenal, which speaks volumes about their seasoning and preparation. If the seafood had been freshly fried, this would’ve easily been a 5-star experience.

Google
The best bite of our entire trip were these tacos. The shrimp taco was our standout favorite taco we had. We also loved the chile relleno and fish tacos. Everything is fresh fried, and there is a toppings bar where you can dress your own tacos exactly as you wish. It offers different vegetables and salsas. We came back twice: it was our first meal and we made sure it was our last as well because we couldn’t stop thinking about these tacos. I will be thinking about this place in my dreams.

Google
Amazing fish tacos at a relaxed, airy cafe. Very good prices and a great selection of sauces and toppings. They also have beer. Definitely stop here!

Google
Good, solid tacos with a wide selection of toppings and salsas at the salsa station. The only thing that bothered me was that the batter wasn’t crispy—refrying would be great. I’ll be back!

Google
Amazing service. The employees were so friendly and were so helpful. These tacos were made super fresh, they fry the seafood in front of you, made to order. They take your order as you walk in, they give you a receipt and you pay after you eat at the cashier. There are sooo many different toppings and sauces you can choose from, and you help yourself. Lots of tables available and ample space. I will definately return next time. The price was extremely affordable. Two tacos filled me up cause they are so loaded.

Google
Taste: Seafood taco restaurant. Campechano taco was top tier. Consisted of fried fish and shrimp and they did not skimp, was really the size of 2-3 tacos. Smoked tuna was meh but not bad. Service: order the tacos, they make it right in front of you, then you go to the salsa bar and load it up. Coleslaw with spicy mayo on the campechano made it top tier. Value: 6.30$ for two very large tacos + tip - Great

Google
If you’re a fan of fish and shrimp tacos, this is the spot to visit in the city. The flavors are consistently excellent, and the fresh dressing bar adds the perfect touch. Don’t hesitate!

Google
Best fried shrimp tacos ever!!! The bar for toppings, like pickled onions, salsa, sauces is so thoughtful. Service is also nice!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible tacos. Quick, friendly service. Delicious menu. Old school vibes. Tacos de Atun - 5/5 Tacos de Camaron - 5/5 The Atun tacos are phenomenal. Super flavorful and juicy. The Camaron are crispy and juicy. The entire menu looks amazing. Service is quick. Definitely an old school restaurant. Need to go back to try everything. The salsa and fixings bar is a great touch.

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. I got a shrimp/fish combo taco which is sort of regular on its own, but you can turn something very plain looking into a masterpiece using their extensive topping bar. You can add sauces, salsas, cabbage, pickled toppings, etc. They have an English menu if you need one and they also have friendly staff helping with the ordering and the menu and seating etc. Lots of open air seating and a very casual vibe. It was a nice switch up from all the meat tacos from the trip. I just had one taco since I had 4 tacos at another place across the street. The fish and shrimp was being hand dipped right there on the spot.

Yelp
Totally lives up to the hype! The shrimp tacos are some of the best I've ever had. You get to watch them making them - the folks frying all the shrimp and fish are impressively efficient. Ordering was a fast process. They have beer and some other bottled beverages. Their salsa bar has lots of options for toppings. Prices are dirt cheap.

Yelp
Well, I had really high expectations for this spot, but Ieft severely disappointed. Pros: Large corner restaurant, plenty of seating, organized, friendly, clean. Cons: Ordered the fish taco and shrimp taco. Unfortunately, both weren't fried fresh. The pieces were already fried and actually sitting on the rim of this large fryer (as with many other pieces). I'm guessing this is how they're able to deal with large crowds and are able to expedite the food. But in doing so, they've seriously compromised their food. So what I got was just soggy, oil-soaked pieces of shrimp and fish. Both were just tepid, especially the fish. Just lacked serious flavor. Not sure what kind of fish, but it was super lean and dense - almost like canned tuna. Zero crunch at all, and I could barely taste the crema. Just a really disappointing experience, unfortunately. Checked all the boxes, except the one that says the food was good.

Yelp
I read the reviews and thought people were too harsh, but they're right. This place is just meh. Not bad, not good. The dressing bar is fun. But what you end up with are these massive tacos that are still just fundamentally kinda lifeless and dull. Good service and good value, so I wouldn't say don't go...but just don't expect to be wowed in a city with such good food.

Yelp
One of my favorite taco spots that we got try in condesa! I wanted to go here after seeing Mark Wiens try this place and I'm so happy we were able to make it. Then tacos are big, I only got one and was full. I got the tacos with a fried fish and chile rellano in it. They have a salsa/toppings bar, paired it with a corona, and chefs kiss! You order at the register and then they bring you your food, definitely has a Mexico taco place vibe, which I loved.
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
First meal in CDMX and it did not disappointment. We ended up ordering the que sotote, which is fried shrimp with a cheesy pepper (?jalapeno). It was so tasty, not to mention the large array of toppings, salsas, and sauces alike. I saw both locals and other travellers there!
google avatar

Eddie U.

Yelp
This was the first place we came to eat after arriving to the city. The tacos are tasty and cool ambiance, very laid back and situated on a pretty corner. I like the concept of ordering your tacos and then move to the prepping area to add all toppings and sauces.
google avatar

Caroline G.

Yelp
Got the fish and shrimp tacos. I will say, I took them to go and ate them at home so a little flavor is lost when you do that. That said, I just thought they were a little meh in flavor even with the salsas, pickled onions, and lime. The service and vibes were on point in here even if I wouldn't come back for the food.
google avatar

Pauline C.

Yelp
Tasty fried giant seafood tacos, plenty of seating, fast service, lots of toppings for your hearts desire. A nice change from the standard meat tacos around the city. These tacos are huge, freshly fried seafood options, and loads of toppings to add. Will definitely come back here for more on future trips!

Yelp
Came here because I was hungry and in the area. Got: - que-sotote (chile relleno with cheese and grilled shrimp): by far my favorite of everything. Super flavorful, the cheese added some flavor too, and the shrimp was delicious. - taco de marlin (tuna): not very flavorful, pretty plain. Lathered it with the complimentary coleslaw, raw bell pepper and onion, and salsas to make it taste a lot better. Wouldn't recommend this one. - enchilote enchiloso (shrimp and cheese): not very flavorful, did the same as the above and lathered it with toppings. 169 pesos for it all, big portions. 3 tacos for one person was probably too many, given that I stacked all of them with the available toppings. [Note: this is my 3700th Yelp review!]
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
Super fresh tacos.. you can actually see them fry the shrimp/fish in front before adding it to your taco. Fish was piping hot! Service is good and server was super friendly. Recommend

Yelp
Decent food! You get a table first and then order at the front. After eating, you pay at the front. I got the campechano (battered fish and shrimp) and tacochango (marlin styled tuna and battered shrimp). I found the batter for the shrimp thick and unnecessary so I removed it. Self serve toppings and salsa that were fresh given the number of customers. I enjoyed the campechano more than the tacochango (not a fan of the marlin styled tuna) but overall the food was very average and seemed a bit Americanized. The price was 52 pesos ($3 USD) per taco and I was very full after 2 tacos!
google avatar

Kathryn F.

Yelp
The rating is within the context of a casual taco restaurant. Our Campechano tacos were brimming with freshly battered, fried fish and shrimps. There are numerous condiments and salsas served buffet style. They looked amazing, but we were cautious and only added a cooked, red, spicy chile sauce and lots of lime. The tacos were delicious and filling! The staff are as nice and helpful as can be. I am a Spanish speaker, but no worries if not; there are menus in English and staff speak some too. The atmosphere is clean, casual, indoor/outdoor.

Ray L.

Yelp
A laid-back corner spot in the La Condesa area of CDMX offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I had tacos filled with freshly prepared crispy fried fish and they were darn good. You can load up on unlimited sauces, salsas, pickled red onions, coleslaw, and limes from their topping station. The portion sizes are larger than at any other taco places we've visited. Just two tacos were enough to satisfy me and prepare me for more taco adventures in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
Portions are friggin huge. I had one taco, the ta-cotote and I was stuffed. We went at about 4pm and there was a line but it moved fast and they are extremely attentive to keeping the tables clean and ready for the next group of hungry visitors.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow just wow. Hands down THE BEST SHRIMP tacos in all of CDMX. Also probably in the top 5 shrimp tacos I have ever had which is a ton. Located on the corner, it was east to find. They have indoor/outdoor seating and it is very spacious. What I loved is when you get in line, you order with the cook who serve you the tacos right then and there. Then you can hit up the salsa bar if you'd like for amazing toppings on the tacos. They serve soda, juice, water, and beer. A restroom is on site for customers. Tacos were so flavorful. We had the batters fish and shrimp and the batter was so good! Perfectly crispy and flavorful. The quality from the tortilla, to the protein, to the veggies was a 10/10. Considering your paying $48 pesos per taco, you really can't beat that price ANYWHERE. If you find yourself looking for a great seafood taco, please consider them. You will not regret this choice. Next time I'm in CDMX, this will be on of my first stops. Cant wait to come back

Sabrina A.

Yelp
If you want seafood tacos, come here! The food here is incredibly fresh and tasty. They have a condiment bar that you can load up your taco how you'd like. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Kent L.

Yelp
Good service, bountiful salsa bar, wide range of sauces. The tacos were good, but wasn't too uniquely flavorful or noteworthy in my opinion. I had a cheesy shrimp taco and a marlin(?) taco. Mexico City has so much good food, if I were to return to Mexico City, I would probably prioritize trying other places first before this one; the competition is just too high!
google avatar

Esther A.

Yelp
These tacos are cooked right in front of you. Somehow they are not greasy at all. The Shrimp is cooked perfectly and the fish is light and mild. The best part is the little buffet of toppings after you get your tacos so you can dress it up as much as you want! My favorite is the campechana half shrimp/half fish! Delicious!
google avatar

Vivian H.

Yelp
We may have ordered wrong but we didn't realize we were getting deep fried cheese-filled poblanos and deep fried shrimp. That's too much.. I wish there were pictures on the menu! My partner ate everything though and there were definitely lots of locals/regulars. On the plus side, the tacos were generous, the toppings bar had endless possibilities, and the staff was super helpful!
google avatar

Preeti R.

Yelp
One of the stops in our taco tour. We sat outside and people watched and our order was out in a few moments. We got the fried fish and the shrimp and devoured them both. Lots of topping and salsa options. Service was quick and friendly.
google avatar

Adam C.

Yelp
The food was exceptional and the service was really good. Very clean and the vibe was vibrant.
google avatar

Cecilia H.

Yelp
I was honestly kind disappointed from this spot. We only ordered a few tacos because it was 2pm and we we're going to eat dinner a few hours. I got an original fish taco and a marlin tun chile relleno taco. The tacos were actually huge but I felt like the fish had no flavor. I remember watching a YouTube video about this place and then I suddenly remember about the crema! They never gave us any! I went up to the sauce bar guy and asked for some and he was able to give us some. However, we only had a few more bites left and eating it with the crema was definitely a game changer. This place probably would've gotten another star had they put crema on all our tacos in the first place.

Steven M.

Yelp
Delicious seafood tacos. The shrimp one even better than the fish. Pricier than other taco stands, but that's expected for seafood. Lots of seating and friendly service. Several beers and soft drinks to choose from.
google avatar

Jamie C.

Yelp
100% yes Their shrimp tacos are amazing. I ordered two and it was so good I went back and got another. They're so flavorful, crispy and fresh. They make the fish/meat base in front of you then you go to another counter and pick and choose your toppings and sauces. Highly recommend. One of my favorite spots we went to.
google avatar

Andy H.

Yelp
These seafood tacos are insane. Just see the photos, that's all you need. The service here is incredible and beyond expectation! The outdoor seating is nice as well, this was one of my favorite taquerias on my first and second trip to Mexico City!
google avatar

Immanuella A.

Yelp
This place is amazing the shrimp taco is the real star! So flavorful and fried perfectly. The guys working there were so kind as well and helped us understand the menu. I got the shrimp, the marlin and shrimp, and the fish. Skip the the marlin unless you like chewier tuna or have a taste for it... the fish was yummy, but the shrimp truly has a special place in my heart for amazing taco dishes. Another thing I loved about this place was the selection of toppings all so fresh and so clean and organized... truly a taco topping heaven. This is a must go when in Mexico City no questions asked.
google avatar

Verenice B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. since covid you can't put your own sauces/toppings and therefore it's not your personalized taco anymore. Also, there was almost zero Mexicans there this time around. So weird.
google avatar

Kimmy U.

Yelp
We were trying to hit up as many taco places in the area before our dinner, and since we had a million al pastor tacos..El Pescadito seemed like a good change! They are known for deep fried seafood tacos. This review may be biased because we were only able to try one taco, but the waiter said this was the most popular and delicious! So we went for the que-sotote (fried cheese stuffed chile relleno with fried shrimp). You basically stand in line and tell them what you want while the guy makes your tacos right in front of you! It's a super quick process. Then you dress your taco at the bar on the side, eat, and pay at the register. The salsa bar has so many types of sauces, slaw/veggies, and salsas. And you can dress to your stomach's desire! We were overwhelmed by the amount that went into this taco, but underwhelmed by taste. It was a bit too much fried stuff, but if that's your thing then you'd love it. I'd prob try the fish taco if I come back again.
google avatar

Aren A.

Yelp
Best fish tacos I've ever had. Best shrimp tacos on earth probably. Condiment bar is off the hook. I think this qualifies as a good review.
google avatar

Arjun A.

Yelp
Amazing tacos all around! The fish and shrimp are fried to a crunch. You have a salsa/topping bar - unfortunately due to COVID, you have a staff member add the toppings for you but they're pretty generous so no worries on that. Make sure to grab the taco with the fried fish and jalapeno. I usually don't eat jalapenos whole but these were barely spicy and the flavor went so well with the fried fish. Word of warning, these are heavy and filling if you add all the toppings and sauces. I usually devour tacos but two of these filled me up.
google avatar

Fresh L.

Yelp
Mmmm yummy yummy tacos, ordered the fish and the shrimp. Large for the price and served quickly. Pop in if you a walking past. Onto the limes.... JUICY JUICY, 5/5! Much better than limes in the United States, and they have seeds!
google avatar

Barney C.

Yelp
If you're looking for Fish Tacos in CDMX ... Don't. Look. Any. Further. El Pescadito is so good that I waited in line, twice. Food: 5/5 - Amazing fish tacos, crispy and full of flavor - Good portions. 2 tacos and you're set. - The shrimp tacos are solid as well. - Topping galore. You get to dress up your taco as fancy as you want. It'll be the bell of the taco ball Location: 4/5 - In a chill, tourist-friendly part of Mexico City - There's a park near-by so that's a great option for walking Atmosphere / Ambiance: 4.5/5 - Chill. Down to earth. Casual. No need to dress up. It might be for the best as well. Spilling those awesome toppings is a highly likely possibility. Quality: 5/5 - Food tastes fresh as they fry up the grub right in front of you - Good portions at a great price.

Yelp
I came for a weekend visit to mexico City. I saw this around the corner of my airbnb. There were big lines one day, so I decided to check it out the next day. I ordered the fish taco, shrimp taco, and marlin taco. Each was about 52 pesos or like 2.5 dollars. The shrimp taco was good, marlin taco was fine, but fish taco wasn't that great. The fish taco didn't have taste, very bland but they had a salsa bar where you can add all types of cabbage, salsas to improve the flavor. The was fine and clean but I'm from San Diego, and I head down to baja ,Ensenada a lot and this place doesn't even compare. Most likely won't come back to this place
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
We were walking over to Chapultepec Park and came across this restaurant - which is actually a spot that my boyfriend's favorite food blogger scouted out on his Mexico City taco tour! We lined up to order, it was fun because we could watch the seafood getting cooked. We ordered the ta-catote and and que-sotote, so we got a taste of marlin and shrimp. The tacos were fairly big and were topped with tons of stuff. It was a messy meal but delicious! Because there were a lot of things in one taco, it was hard to pin point what seafood I was eating, a lot of it was masked by the deep fried batter. The ambiance definitely felt a little touristy, even the food itself so it wasn't my favorite meal in CDMX but it was still good. I hadn't had seafood tacos on the trip yet so this was a good first find! We got a bottle of horchata which was very refreshing.
google avatar

Lucas B.

Yelp
Question: Do you want the best fish tacos you have ever had? If yes, go to El Pescadito in La Condesa. They are incredible. The place is on a corner across from another taco stand (Don Juan's) so it's in the perfect spot if you're hungry for tacos. El Pescadito serves only seafood tacos - shrimp, white fish, marlin, etc. so if you're looking for meat you'll have to head somewhere else. I'm not the biggest fish taco fan but after coming here once while in Mexico I knew I'd be back with friends before I left. As far as I know, all the fish is fried before being put into their flavorful corn tortillas. They've got a bunch of things to put on top - slaw, pickled onions, salsa, sauces, etc. and they are all damn good. If you're super hungry you can get out of there with two tacos and a beer for about 100 pesos. Can't beat it!
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Great shrimp & chile relleno taco! Crispy and flavorful shrimp, cheese, and some spice from the chile. The tortillas are nice and thin too. The fish tacos were good but tasted a little tilapia-ish. Also had the shrimp and cheese enchilote - was ok, just wish it had the fried shrimp. Liked all the sauces at the condiment bar as well.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
We came around 2 PM and there was no wait. I ordered too many tacos because I didn't realize how big they would be, but luckily someone changed my order and gave us two less tacos because he had a feeling we wouldn't finish. Food was decent, but I couldn't help but wonder if the condiments and salsa bar were sanitary. Two reasons why I knocked stars off: 1. One of the four of us got food poisoning. Did three of us get lucky because we didn't add a salsa or condiment that was contaminated? 2. There was confusion when we tried to pay. They told us what the total was, but I couldn't figure out why they were overcharging us. Only after they printed out the receipt, did I realize they charged us for a soda and water that we did not order (this was probably for the table next to us). It would have been helpful if they printed out the receipt upfront. I don't think we would come back because of the food poisoning experience, but if not for that, we might have been back.

Yelp
Very good fish and shrimp tacos. Recommend getting the Chile Relleno and shrimp taco. Service was great, very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Charlie A.

Yelp
Incredible tacos atún. Maybe one of my favorite places I ate at during my time in CDMX. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Connie T.

Yelp
SO GOOD. DEFINITELY STOPPING BY FOR TACOS WHENEVER I'M IN THE AREA. I got a fish taco, friends got the fried shrimp taco. I added the avocado sauce and the sriracha mayo-looking sauce which was a little bit spicy. Top notch choices I made on the sauces. The food is very fresh and everything tastes great! The fish is lightly fried right in front of you when you order, and the line moves quickly. It's not overly greasy at all and had plenty of fish in one taco! You order at the counter, get your food, sit down, and return to the cashier to pay when you're all done. I think it's worth noting I have a pretty sensitive stomach and had no problem here and in CDMX in general, either time I've traveled here.

Debi H.

Yelp
Always good! Went several times and food is made to order right in front of you. Attentive service, and love the ingredients bar where you have your choice of multiple toppings and salsas. Very reasonably priced and nice outdoor seating.
google avatar

Neil C.

Yelp
Delicious tacos; you can see the shrimp, green chilis, and more being fried and prepared as you line-up. Tacos prepared right in front of you in quick fashion. All were delicious. Casual and lively atmosphere. Felt like this is a go-to spot for tourists as wife and I saw several individuals with the airline baggage :-) Also some selection of flan -- I chose the flan de coco -- a nice sweet finish to the meal. I highly recommend this food place for the traveler. I hope to visit again!
google avatar

Mar B.

Yelp
The best! Weary from the pictures but honestly some of the best tacos I've ever had- and I've eaten A LOT of fish tacos. Liked the shrimp a little more than the fried fish. Thin soft tortillas and lightly fried fish. Got the marlin taco w shrimp, tacochango. It was good. Love ALL the creamy sauces, my weakness. You order first and then they give u a paper receipt, you take the paper with final taco tally and pay at the cashier at the end. Go!
google avatar

Blake B.

Yelp
Some of the best Baja style fish tacos in cdmx, although a little pricier then some. I always go for one shrimp, one fish, and one chili relleno with either shrimp or marlin.
google avatar

Solomon R.

Yelp
Walked by this place, and couldn't help but go in to get some fish tacos. Their top selling item are theor Ensenada style battered fried fish tacos. Ordered two of those and a shrimp taco. The tortillas they use here are the larger size, and they were generous in their serving of the fish and shrimp. They have a self-serve slaw and salsa bar so you can finish off the tacos just the way you want them. The tacos were delicious and I was very satisfied. This was a great value and I will definitely be back again.

Angely G.

Yelp
Good food, good service, very important: delicious salsas, good price, and they don't try to be a fancy place and they have the vibe they want to transmit as if you were in La playa

Rick A.

Yelp
Simply great non nonsense seafood tacos. Best meal we had so far. Shrimp and Marlin Taco are the bomb
