Fantastic service, good (not great) food, good (not great) atmosphere. The wife and I got an Al Pastor Burrito and an order of Birria Tacos. They were good, but were missing the flavor needed to be great. The service was fantastic. Kind, quick, and professional. Can’t say a single thing bad about them. The atmosphere was also good, but not great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and good music. The bad are the piles of boxes on the floor and dishes/cutlery drying on the tables around the restaurant. Nothing to cry over, but it takes away from the vibe.

I came here with my friend in February (?) I believe, and it was my first time trying this place… and I still dream of it to this day! My friend and I sat in the patio, and since it was evening, the lights made it so cozy! Our server, Mary (sorry if I misspelled) was so kind, friendly, and attentive! She made us feel truly at home. We also got the passion fruit margarita which was wonderful, and the food was spectacular! I got the skirt steak (I forgot what the dish was called), and it’s the best I’ve had! The salsa verde is to die for; and we started with a mouth-watering choriqueso that complimented the chips and salsa! I look forward to coming back. If you’re in Charleston and are looking for an authentic and delicious Mexican restaurant, look no further!

Google
This small, quaint, authentic, Mexican spot hit all the marks. If you are looking for good, authentic, food at a great price with amazing service, this is the place to be. I wouldn’t recommend large parties since there’s not tons of space. I don’t have one bad thing to say.

Google
Had a wonderful lunch with my wife at El Pincho Taco! The food was fantastic, fresh, and authentic. The beer and spirits selection was great and the daily specials were perfect for any customer! Marie was our server and she made us feel very welcome and was very kind and accommodating. A 10/10 experience here!

Google
I couldn't even eat all the food I ordered.. very...very bland. I threw the rest away. Again I wasted money! Being mexican myself, I am mortified that they call this food authentic. You know I love my food. I love when I find true gems 💎 and this is NOT a gem. The food is waaaay over priced!!! $6 for ONE dry as hell, bland tasting, stale hard and gummy corn tortillas.. I'm guessing they must give some sort of incentive to get these high reviews. I however will be as real as it gets! I'm tired of places like this that serve such nasty food. I would love to inspect their kitchen! So if I could give it no stars I would. I see that the owners have no shame and often attack anyone who leaves a negative review instead of finding a better solution to make their customers happy, like better quality food! I dunno, but please stop giving these places, restaurants, services or whatever more business. Things will never get better if we don't demand it to be. Why are we paying so much for terrible food! THINK TWICE BEFORE EATING HERE.! If you're looking for a true gem to find better tacos I suggest: San Miguel Mexican Grill, Mt Pleasant (4 stars) Speedy's Taco Truck,(Ricos Tacos) 6907 Rivers Ave (5 Stars) Follow me in the search of the perfect TACOS!!

We stopped here after a Charleston battery soccer game & the food was great recommend the green steak enchiladas. The vibe was great if you like great food & Latin music in the background I recommend this place.

Google
If you are on the hunt for authentic tacos, this is the spot!!! They have a spicy avocado cream sauce, which is delicious on the steak tacos. The margaritas were very tasty (and you will definitely feel the alcohol ;)(mango pineapple, and a strawberry marg), and since it was our first time here our waitress Mary gave us tequila shots on the house. She was so sweet and helpful with the menu!! My boyfriend and I are taco enthusiasts and this one gets a high score from us! 🌟🍹

Yelp
Hands down the best Mexican in Charleston. I was incredibly impressed by the salsa, chips, street corn, choriqueso, and Birria tacos. Cute environment, parking available on site and around building, and exceptional bar service last night where I think the bartender made the pineapple habanero margarita straight from his heart to mine! Ha! Oh, and the churros!!!? Filled with what looks like dulce de leche/cheesecake, and HEAVEN! So good. So basically, I'll be here again!

Anthony M.

Yelp
The food and service were great! Enjoyed the chips and salsa, and the burritos are very filling and delicious. Also, loved ambiance of the out door seating as well.

Yelp
I thought the birria here was okay. The consume was pretty salty so it covered the other flavours it usually has. The tacos themselves were okay as well. I'm not sure if I'll come back because I'm still craving birria tacos since this didn't help. The pickled onions and sauces were good though.

Yelp
Delicious spot we stumbled upon. Came here to watch a fifa game. Multiple tvs inside by the bar. Staff is very attentive, food and drinks came out quick. Tacos were delicious, hot and fresh. Complimentary chips and salsa, that if the food never came out I would've been fine eating 10 baskets of. Raspberry margarita was great. Guy next to us had a michelada and IF WAS MASSIVE and looked delicious. Tajin on the rim and chamoy to give the drink some extra ummffff. Highly recommend the carne asada. Would definitely return.
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
I tried 4 different tacos and they were all good enough to recommend. The asada and lengua ones were both pretty good. The chipotle chicken one, which I tried next, was much better though in my opinion. I also got their taco of the day for my last one which was a puffy taco that also had shredded chicken in it, and it was also very good. Both of the chicken ones were definitely my favorite, but they were all pretty good. Our server was super nice. The food seemed like it came out relatively fast. Granted, we were the only people there at the time but it was still some good service. It's a small place but it was still pleasant to eat at for a quick meal.

Margaret B.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in Charleston! A hidden gem. You won't be disappointed. Support this family business.

Yelp
When you walk in, there's a bar. We were surprised to find out there's outdoor seatings in the back. We had birrias and tacos, both were very good. Service was ok. We asked for more salsa but never got any. Other than that, it was worth the trip.
google avatar

Tonitra B.

Yelp
Our server was great but that's pretty much where the good ends. I ordered two steak tacos and street corn and the food were not good. The corn tortilla was soggy and the steak was flavorless. The street corn was sweet and really had no heat. The only good thing was the pickled onions. The guy behind the bar kept checking his phone while he was supposed to be helping me pay my bill. I had to get his attention to continue helping me. Sorry but I don't recommend this place.
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
The food is great & the service is wonderful! We had 5 tacos & a strawberry margarita - very yummy & authentic to Mexico. Will come back next time we're in Charleston!

Yelp
Walked in at 910pm tonight with two patrons still sitting at the bar eating and drinking. I was wanting to order a couple tacos to go and the little girl behind the bar tells me they're closed but hours posted are 10pm and all the while I still see them full filling phoned in orders. Horrible customer service and I'll check out one of the other many taco spots around.

Yelp
I love the tacos here! The chorizo is my absolute favorite which I can't say about any other place. The quesadillas are huge. We had one with carnitas and it was excellent. Head out to the back patio and sit at a vibrant table while enjoying a michelada. I love trying all the sauces too so it's nice to have them on the table. The dark red one really had some heat to it. Last time I was in our server was nice but really slow and would disappear for long periods of time, forget things, and eventually left before bringing us our check. It was kinda weird, but hopefully a one off thing.

Yelp
Who knew this place existed in Charleston?! I had planned to get Mexican at a popular place in Charleston but with a wait of 45 minutes, it wasn't worth it. I looked up this placed and made a call to see what their wait time was. They said "we don't have a wait!" My boyfriend and I came in to be surprised by the size of the place - it's tiny. We thought that there were no seats around the bar top, but there were. First off - it's a cute little restaurant, which feels pretty intimate. You can make friends easily at the bar top if you would like. Second - the chips and salsa is AMAZING! Especially the chips. They were so good. I feel like they make their own chips there. I didn't ask but I'm only assuming. Their margaritas are HUGE! They have so many sizes. The one we got seemed like a large but it was just a medium. The tacos were delicious. As a Californian, I am pretty particular about my tacos. These hit my expectation. I think they make their own corn tortillas (again, assumption). The salsa that they brought out was tasty and spicy! If you're looking for a good taco shop, definitely check this place out!

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS! Having tried very authentic Mexican street tacos in San Diego and Chula Vista, California...this place is just as good!! Humberto provided fabulous service. Carne asada, carnitas, and lamb barbacoa tacos were delicious!

Yelp
Marg on marg on marg. Had the marg flight at El Pincho Taco and loved the tumeric one. Wasn't a fan of the other margs. This is a great hole in the wall right off the highway. Sat at the bar and service was speedy and super nice. Was given free chips and they salted the rims on the margs with different flavors. Mexican music played. Shrimp burrito was big and thick and good leftovers. Parking lot in front. #bergerknowsbest
google avatar

Yelp
Best tacos in town and that's not even an overstatement. Go for 5 carnitas/chorizo tacos and you're good to go. Solid margs too.

Yelp
Food is 10/10 every time. Service is always very fast and everyone is very accommodating. There is a nice shaded patio outback which is where you should sit. Always relatively quiet ambiance.

Yelp
Overall: 3/5! I am very grateful that they were able to accommodate our large group, but the food choices were limited among other things Location: 3/5; it was a bit tucked away on Meeting St. and also the parking was pretty tight. Inside the restaurant was COZY. It was super festive and cute, but honestly a little too crowded for a party of more than 3 people. When we came (around 6pm), we were the only group inside besides a couple of to-go orders, but around 7 pm, people started to pack in quickly because of how small the space was. The only table seating they had was the one for my group, and the other seating was bar-type seating! Service: 3.5-4/5; Our server was accommodating with our requests which was nice, but we were ran out of water pretty fast, and did ask for more but never got it, and also our orders came out one by one pretty slowly, so some people's food were cold by the time we could all start eating--I do understand though given that we did have 9 people in our party! I also wanted to say that I appreciated one of the staff members (she might have been the owner, I'm not so sure!) being pretty attentive because one of my friends' orders were missing a couple of tacos, but she noticed and got her her extra tacos quickly :) I would just say too though that the only reason this rating got knocked down for me was that they were out of the dishes/choices that my friends and I wanted, which was a little bit sad since we were really excited to eat them. Food/Drinks... ...Margaritas: I didn't drink any, but my friends did and they were HUGE. Their SMALL is a large at a regular restaurant, and their large is a JUMBO. I would say that my friends and I were shocked, impressed, and (they) were very content all at the same time! (they also have a Jumbo size if you wanted that too!) ...Enchiladas Verdes: The enchiladas were smaller than I thought they were going to be, but they were very tasty nonetheless! I would just say that I did wish there was a bit more chicken inside mine, but even with just a little bit, the dish kept me full for the rest of the night! (it's $2 extra to order chicken with the Enchiladas!)

Yelp
Nice find off upper Meeting. Small on the inside, larger patio area behind. Asada tacos (onion and cilantro) were good, 5 for $15. Rice and refried beans good. Salsa has great flavor and some heat, chips are fresh. Worth another visit if in the area.

Yelp
This is the best Birra tacos in Charleston county. The staff is lovely and everything I've tried on their menu has been amazing!

Yelp
Had dinner at El Pincho for the first time last night, and it was great. The Carne Asada was very good! Special thanks to our awesome server Omar; he was terrific.

Yelp
El Pincho Taco. Nice outside seating, yummy tacos, and excellent margaritas! My non alcoholic strawberry margarita tasted very fresh and the right amount of sweetness. Standout taco for me was potatoes and chorizo. The shrimp in the shrimp taco had too much batter for my taste but I did enjoy the slaw topping. Al pastor is a classic! Service was also excellent. Would return.
google avatar

Jill C.

Yelp
Great, authentic food. Definitely best tacos on the peninsula. Birria tacos and lengua tacos for the win.

Yelp
Firstly, I want to say that El PinchoTaco is pretty dang tasty and their tacos are close to what you would get in Mexico! Being that it's just a few minutes from my house, I should come here more often! I've been here two or three times (to order takeaway, not to dine-in). And I'll definitely keep coming back. However, I'm not giving them the full 4 or 5 stars they deserve because they have messed up my takeaway orders each time I've gone here. And I'm not giving them 3 stars because (see below). So, I want to warn all you fellow Yelpers and those just perusing the website/app to find a yummy place to eat! My warning is that if you get a to-go order, please open it up and make sure it's correct! You don't want to drive all the way home, get settled in and ready to eat, only to have to interrupt your meal to return a wrong item. Sigh. This time around we ordered the 5 tacos for $15. We wanted Al Pastor, Lengua, Cabeza, Pibil, and they were out of Nopales, so we got Carnitas instead. Sadly, the Al Pastor taco was not included and instead we received Barbacoa. The Barbacoa was delicious, don't get me wrong! But I was very much looking forward to Al Pastor (which is one of my fave types of tacos). The other item that was incorrect was the kid's cheese quesadilla. This is the reason I dropped them from 3 to 2 stars. Not only that, but they didn't include the sour cream for it that I requested! Nothing is worse to a parent than when a kid's meal is wrong in a takeaway order! Nothing! Because everyone else gets to eat, except for the kid who is devastated that their meal is wrong (and y'all know kids can be dramatic!) So parents have the choice of either eating in front of their starving child (who is now not just hungry, but is absolutely FAMISHED!) or we can choose to go back to the restaurant to correct the order and come back home to our own (now cold) food. I suppose the other options are to make something at home (so why did we order takeaway if I have to cook?) or go out to another place to get something acceptable to the child (again, a waste of time and petrol). I'm telling you, if the kid's meal is ruined, there is no winning solution for the parent. Lose-lose, all the way. Since this isn't the first time I've had an incorrect takeaway order, and since two items were wrong in this particular takeaway order (the kid's order being one of them), I'm giving them 2 stars. Again, their their tacos are delicious! I want to give them credit where credit is due! And their Micheladas and other drinks are also very tasty! But please, whatever you do, check your takeaway orders before you leave, especially if it includes a kid's meal.

Yelp
We stopped by here for my fiancée birthday here. She's mexican and she said it's the best authentic mexican restaurant in South carolina. We had Tacos and the meat and the salsa was just delicious. I had the Barbacoa Tacos which was simple amazing. Our server Omar went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed here. Will be definitely visiting next month.

Abigail V.

Yelp
Humberto give me the best service and was extremely helpful. Best Mexican restaurant in Charleston.

Yelp
I moved from California to Charleston in August 2018 and was immediately desperate for Mexican food. What a waste; Charleston is not synonymous with great ethnic food and I really suffered for good tacos, salsas, tortas, etc. Jesus wept. So when I heard about El Pincho, I was skeptical, but intrigued. But my friend Su was adamant; this place was authentic and had stuff to appease everyone. Damn it feels good to be a gangsta. What a wonderful addition to Charleston. It's north of the King Street mayhem and is off of Meeting in a food/bar strip mall that almost looks like a trailer. Table space is at a minimum, but is good for large parties. Check out the daily specials and you won't be disappointed: tacos ranging from mushroom to asada & chorizo to borrego (lamb). Other delights are the salsa flight, hibiscus tea, horchata ... just everything!
google avatar

Yelp
If you want legit tacos. This is your spot. It's in a small little shopping center on the corner of meeting street and 17. When you walk in there are two picnic tables in the right, and a little bar that has around 8 chairs. We sat down at the tables because we had my son with us. My husband ordered the torta and I ordered 4 tacos. 4 tacos for $15- not so bad of a price because they're legit tacos. My husbands torta was the largest he has ever gotten(he orders them at every Mexican spot). It was jam packed with meat and TONS of cheese(maybe a little bit too much). I got 4 different types of tacos. I forget what they were. They had a cute little salsa bar in the corner with 4 different salads that were all so tasty. My tacos were insanely good and authentic. They also have free margaritas on Friday's!! I would 100% come back. It was THAT good.
google avatar

Yelp
Hole in the wall taco shop - overpriced for what you get - Small tacos with chewy beef Better off getting Taco Bell IMO Will not return.
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
The owners of this restaurant are originally from Mexico City and the high quality of their Mexican food reflects it. I really enjoyed my tacos (the pibil, chorizo, steak & chorizo). They also have several complimentary sauces you can add. My favorite was the blanca sauce (a mild green sauce). The horchata (traditional Mexican drink) was absolutely delicious and I think was the best I have ever had!
google avatar

Ahmed K.

Yelp
Simple the best Birria Tacos I've ever had. No wonder you can only get them on Monday and Tuesday. We did get other tacos but the Birria ones were the star of the show. Everything tasted fresh from the chips to the dip I strongly recommend go on a Monday or Tuesday and you won't regret it.

Tristan’s G.

Yelp
The Tacos are great!! Pinchopapas were soggy, if your thinking carne asada fries do not get, you'll be disappointed. The service was awful. I was over charged for the tacos. I asked for the 5 for $15 but the counter was rushing us through and charge for individual tacos. I had to ask for a receipt to verify. The food runner gave our food to the wrong table. I had to motion for him to bring it to us. Then he tried to give us the half eaten guacamole. There is very little seating and they just kept taking orders try to jam every into the 4 table in back. I'd recommend tacos to go.

Alison S.

Yelp
Such a gem! The food was delicious and quite a filling portion as well. I got the Enchiladas Verdes with chicken and it was delicious! It comes with a side of rice, which were so fluffy and good, and beans. My mother got the same thing with cheese. There's an inside bar with high chair seating and a patio in the back. We chose to sit at the patio and it had fans running to keep the temperature nice and comfortable. Our waiter was Omar and he was so friendly! He gave me great recommendations for drinks since it was my 21st birthday. He checked in with us to make sure everything was good and provided such excellent service. Overall, such a good environment, authentic Mexican cuisine, and friendly staff!
google avatar

Caroline S.

Yelp
Great service, fresh chips and vegan options! Veg fillings include soy chorizo, spicy cactus, mushroom and hibiscus (?) flower. I'll have to go back for a margarita!
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. This place offers authentic-tasting Mexican food in a casual environment. Try the margarita flight - four 4oz margaritas in different flavors. We had watermelon, tamarind, peach and passionfruit. Their homemade tortilla chips and queso were delicious - light, crisp, just the right amount of salt and spice. My son got the huevos and chorizo, my husband got the tostadas and I got enchiladas verdes with beef. They were all filling and delicious - plenty of food but not too much. Service was very fast - we had our food within 15 minutes of ordering. Dog-friendly patio too!
google avatar

Peter H.

Yelp
This is very small restaurant. The majority of the seating inside is at the bar. I heard people talk about outside seating but did no go out there. The temperature was in the low 50s and people were willing to sit outside. I assume they have heaters hopefully. They started us out with flour based chips kind of puffy and fried as opposed to the standard tortilla chips. They were delicious. There were 4 of us and we were given two bowls of the chips. We ordered drinks. They do not have lemonade for the kiddos. They offered to make lime aid which we accepted. The lime aid was only enjoyed by one of our kids. It was too "limey" according to the one that did not like it. They have a wide selection of tequila and mezcals. I opted for the Clase Azul Silver, neat. As expected the silver was delicious. A great sippper. The service was quick. It was maybe 5-8 minutes after we ordered when our food was delivered. My wife had the chicken tacos and was nice enough time share the chicken as it was shredded and had a nice door to it. I had 3 tacos. They come up to 5 for $15. The tacos were on the small size. I probably could have ordered 5 and eaten 5. All three were very tasty. My daughter had the burrito with the chicken. She only ate half. Fortunately I got to eat the other half. The burrito, non spicy for the children, was good too. They seem to have a large menu selection and more items worth trying. I went worh the waitresses suggestion of having the tacos. I was hoping to stray a little of the standard taco. It looks like I'll have to come back to try something more. The check actually took the longest to get. It's a small place. We were at the bar so it was tough to miss us. The first check was not ours. The second check did not have the tequila on it. I told them about the missing item. It was added. The only disappointing item was the time to get the check.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic tacos & Mexican food in Charleston- RUN to El Pincho Taco now! My boyfriend and I love El Pincho and will tell any stranger we pass about the incredible food and sauces they offer. We've been several times and usually get some variation of the same things. First of all- I don't know how they make their verde salsa but oh my! We buy a jar to take home every time we are there. I always look for a verde salsa and most leave you wishing for more flavor. This verde salsa is a a great balance of spicy heat and flavor. Tacos: The tortillas are delicate but sturdy enough for the juicy fillings. We've had the pastor, asada, campechano, carnitas, chipotle chicken, chorizo, suadero, and nopales. Honestly, they were all delicious! The asada is my overall favorite. They are served with diced white onion, cilantro and radish side. I always add a spoonful of the verde salsa. Gordita: I ordered this one day on a whim to break from my taco rotation. Holy cow! This is a massive meal! Description: Handmade corn patty filled with Oaxaca queso, queso fresco, protein choice, onion and cilantro. I'm pretty sure my boyfriend dreams of their gordita! The gordita is a heaping pile of asada (you pick your protein), topped with cilantro, onion and that delicious Oaxaca cheese- all sandwiched in between a perfectly split corn patty. It is crispy, cheesy, greasy, and spicy (you know I add the verde salsa to this too!). A reasonable person could split this with another human but, where's the fun in that.

Yelp
El pincho, hiii. Authentic Mexican (or even just GOOD Mexican) is hard to come by in most areas, Charleston being one of them. After a year of searching though, I finally found myself in El Pincho and now I can sleep sound. The place is no frills from the outside, and the inside is pretty snug (not a bad thing!) but the back deck is roomy and will be great for warmer days. My husband and I had a few different tacos - all were great, but the cactus and chorizo were our two favorites! Rice and beans were so good I could have drank them, so don't leave without at least a side of them. Drinks: everything I had I enjoyed. The margarita flight is fun and tasty, and only $12 so I highly recommend that. And once you get to chatting with Amy the bartender, have her mix you up something that suits your taste buds- she won't do you wrong!

Julia W.

Yelp
El pincho has THE BEST tacos in Charleston and even better staff. Omar is the best! He is great to talk to and makes fantastic drinks!

Yelp
El PinchoTaco on Meeting Street in Charleston has delicious and flavorful tacos, quesadillas, and much more. Everything here is well prepared, fresh, and tasty. I like the atmosphere and staff here and they make sure that you have everything you need for a good meal. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.

Yelp
We were very hungry but had been planning to stop for lunch for the day and it was very worth it. The tacos were really good and authentic. I preferred the flautas and the salsa was also very good. The people serving us were very kind .

Yelp
Just finished some tacos and margs. Saturday. What else can I say? El Pincho is fantastic. I recommend this spot to anyone looking for some great Mexican cuisine with fantastic service.

Yelp
Just had an awesome experience with the fellas. Omar was our server he was the man. Gave us great recommendations. Food was fantastic. Drinks were on par. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Mexican and a dining experience to talk about. El Pincho fan for life.

Yelp
Charlie and Omar were super helpful and nice! The food was amazing and it came out in literally less than 2 minutes for everyone at the table. Highly recommend this restaurant for a fun quick bite!!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of Mexican food but I had never tried El Pincho food truck. My first experience was at the brick and mortar. We sat out back and were brought chips and salsa immediately. Surprisingly our chips were potato chips rather than tortilla. Still delicious and both chips and salsa were clearly homemade. Based on a recommendation, we started with chorizo queso. A large skillet with lots of meat and homemade tortilla chips arrived with our drinks. I opted for sopes while my companions tried quesadilla and tacos. Our food arrived with three sauces along with the homemade salsa verde. None of the food disappointed. We will be back! *30% off deal through yelp made the bill excellent but even without it, prices are good

Yelp
This spot is slinging delicious tacos and I cannot lie! Please come here and experience the most authentic tacos this side of México. 5 tacos for 15. Need I say more? The pibil (pulled pork) is a favorite and I'd gladly devour 5 of those. This is a tiny spot full of attentive staff and a wall of tequila. Basically, I've described paradise.

Yelp
Great little restaurant! Very cozy and cute. JP was our server and he was outstanding. Very clean and the COVID practices were in use! You can tell they make their own chips....they are delish. Our dishes were really good and flavorful. We would go back in a skinny minute!! Go there NOW!

Yelp
I went on a Monday for the birria tacos lunch special. I now wish I could go every Monday for lunch. These were *fantastic*! So much flavor and it's almost like two meals in one since you have soup (consomé) and tacos. Even the salsa that came with the chips is the best Salsa I've had at any mexican restaurant, even the ones I've been to in Texas. And the chips were even better than normal too! Most of the Mexican restaurants around here overcook the chips and they end up with that harsh aftertaste, but the chips at El Pincho are perfect! My one and only complaint would be that the birria are not available all day every day haha. Great margaritas too.
