The Best Restaurants In Chestnut Hill & Roxborough

"El Poquito makes some of the most delicious Mexican food in Chestnut Hill. And whether you’re dining in the courtyard with a few friends or with a date under the hanging lights in the tent, you can’t go wrong with their grilled shrimp tacos or mole chicken enchiladas. Whatever you choose, go for a margarita, sangria, or pomegranate spritz to round out and extinguish the spice of each bite. " - candis mclean, alison kessler

The only thing wrong with this location is the type of people it attracts. I do not think it’s very welcoming to all ethnicities. You may be stared at your entire visit. However, the server, McKenzie is amazing to the point where I remembered her name. Give that girl a raise! She was great. The food was flavorful as well, and the drinks were good. They also have inside and outdoor seating as well. The establishment is usually pretty clean. I’m not aware of any happy hour specials. It can be a little bit on the price of your side, depending on what you’re used to spending. I did not mind it.

I had the jerk chicken fajitas and I was blown away by the flavor. Definitely would go again...service was great by the waiters but that hosts and hostess were very chatty in their own conversation to notice us standing there and then were confused about where to sit us (maybe I little more training or a balance of older and younger to guide would be helpful). My mom had the chicken quesadilla and it was just ...okay like a 4/10. I will go again 🪭🤗

Google
This is one of our favorite places. Their specials and larger meat cuts are DIVINE. Short ribs, pibil, steak are always delicious. The standard dishes are good, but not what keep us coming back. The service is also great. Everyone is so kind, friendly, and matches their attentiveness to our needs depending on the night.

The waiter was amazing & food came out SUPER FAST! So did the drink. Blood orange house margarita was 👌🏽 Chicken tacos were not good! Steak tacos were just ok! Guacamole needed more cilantro and seasoning.

Google
This place was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, the place was clean, the guac was spectacular, the service was awesome! My husband and I loved it so much! 10/10 would recommend! We ordered the EP bowl with steak and a Virgin lime margarita (rather sour).

Google
Went to brunch there with friends from out of town. Food was so great, HUGE portions and a lot of options. Everything was delicious and our server was great and attentive! We sat outside which was so nice because there was a covered space and it was rainy out. So rare to be able to sit outside in the rain so that was fun. The prices were also so great, Bloody Mary’s and mimosas for $5 is unbeatable

Had a GREAT dinner at El Poquito! Mackenzie was a FANTASTIC server—super friendly and never rushed us! Taco Tuesday + Happy Hour = perfect combo. Great food, great vibes, and awesome service. Highly recommend!

Google
So we thought we’d give this place another chance seeing as we haven’t been back in a long time due to bad service. Everything was going fine… food was fine. Service was good. But we asked for mezcal margarita’s, and instead of asking which mezcal we preferred, or notifying us of pricing, our server just charged us for the most expensive mezcal on the menu. Which really felt unfair. We paid our bill and left, but we told her from here on out that she should clarify, because there are plenty of less expensive mezcal options on the menu. Most people aren’t looking for 30 dollar margaritas. She was nice otherwise, but someone from management needs to speak to the staff about that. I understand upselling… but at least make your customers aware before you do so.

Yelp
I stopped by for Happy Hour! I hadn't been here in over a year-I was excited to be back! The menu has changed and it seems the drinks weren't as 'crisp'. Lil watered down Margarita was disappointing! I didn't stay for dinner as intended. I'll come back to explore this new menu!

Yelp
Never got to taste the food since no one ever came over to take my order. Food probably taste as bad as the service. Decor is OK since I had a long opportunity to sit there and stare at the wall.

Yelp
I tried the mushroom enchiladas from here and they were ahhhhmmzzziiinnggg. The entire meal itself was great. There were white mushrooms and enoki mushrooms inside of the enchiladas. Id definitely come back for this meal. The house margaritas all flavors are good too.

Yelp
This place is cute but I won't be returning. My partner and I came on an early Friday evening and because of his cute it looked outside, I requested a table outside. It was just two of us so we were placed at a table next to the door to the restaurant. Okay not a problem with the exception of the table being uneven and wobbly so he took some tissue to try and combat the issue but it didn't work. We asked for 2 glasses of water as it was pretty warm on July 14th and received 2 glasses of warm water. My glass had something on it, so we asked for 2 new glasses of water with ice and initially received two glasses of ice with the same glasses of water. So we against again and received what we requested. I ordered shrimp tacos but didn't realized they would be served cold so I wasn't too happy with that. The flavor/toppings were good but the tacos were cold. He ordered the chicken tacos with no dressing so his tacos were dry. The margaritas we ordered were okay but nothing to return for. I live in the neighborhood and wanted to check them out; I did and don't need to again.

Yelp
Superb. Whereas most Mexican themed places go for spice and salty food. Here you really got the flavor of what you were eating. It's 33 degrees and we ate outside in their heated tents. My wife actually had to remove her jacket because it got so warm. Don't be afraid to make reservations for outside. Watch out the tacos are packed. A normal person only needs 2-3. I got 4 Mahi Mahi because tacos normally are t super filling. Especially when it comes to fish. Each taco though had a fat ass piece of fish on it. You'll see in the photos. I don't like taking good photos but I had to. I didn't think you would believe me. I got the fish grilled and it was perfection. My wife tried it and she was very pleased. She isn't really a fishy person. She got the pork tacos. Those were also packed to the hills with meat. She said she should've only gotten 2. I got the virgin margarita with coarse salt on the rim. I don't like a lot of mock tails but this was delicious. We got a jumbo crab dip for our starter. That was delicious. Again the food was not super salty and you could really taste it. We topped it all off with churros which came with a cinnamon ice cream. These were also huge. So we left with a $100 bill completely stuffed. That's a good time to me. I would've loved more of that fish. I don't know if I can go there again and not get that.

Yelp
Definitely overpriced gentrified Mexican food, you're better off at an authentic mom and pop spot. You're for sure paying for the ambiance which was surfer themed which I didn't really understand, service was fine food didn't take too long to come out and the server was nice. The chicken nachos and brussel sprout tacos were good. I came with 7 other people and they all had similar thoughts, the food lacked spices/flavor/quantity. Not exactly worth paying the hefty price tag for. Only rating it a 4/5 because I liked my tacos.

Kim S.

Yelp
I've been going to El Po since they opened. Off and on. They've had many different managers and staff. The margaritas are generally good. The food has been great at times and not others. Lately it's good. The happy hour menu has gone up considerably in price. One thing, if you're going to bartend, be a bartender. It's a huge turn off when the bartender acts like they're doing you a favor by waiting on you. And I'm talking about only 4 other people at the bar. The bartender laid down the menu in front of me and left. I mean left the actual bar. Came back in a while. This kind of service turns me off. The appetizer was decent. The drink was good. But, service please.

Yelp
My friend just moved to town and wanted to try this spot while I visited her. Great covered patio and outdoor space! We were seated outside in the covered patio and ordered drinks and queso right away. My friend got the spicy margarita and it lived up to its name. I ordered the Nicolo and it was good too. Queso was okay, but the chips were nice and salty! I don't know if it's because we ordered queso pretty quickly, but they didn't offer any chips and salsa to us, so that was a bit of a let down. Good gluten free options with corn tortillas and bowl for their tacos. I got the mahi mahi bowl and it was very yummy! My friend got the brussel sprouts bowl and also liked it.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Good, but unnecessarily overpriced food- especially for the location. Excellent attentive service with indoor, and an abundance of outdoor seating, with colorful ambiance, including cooked hanging lights. Gluten free tortillas available to accommodate those with food allergies. Tasty fresh cocktails and margaritas. Tables need to be cleaned much better. When butcher block tables are sticky throughout, it's indicative of not properly cleaning and sanitizing.

Yelp
The food was very good. The place was clean. The service was exceptional. We'll be going back.

Yelp
I want to start by saying I reviewed up el Poquito is a solid 3.5 (if that was a thing) I reviewed up bc the service was great, the ambiance is chill, love the lights around as well as the fixtures. The food was ok, pretty standard nothing special. The guac appetizer could have been larger it was pretty small. We also ordered shrimp ceviche appetizer, it was good but could have had more shrimp. I had the mahi tacos which were really good imo I regret not ordering something son the side. I also had a margarita, it was delish, really well made! Overall I'd go back I really liked the atmosphere, parking on the other hand would steer me away but that's most of Philadelphia.

Yelp
At dinner here, the atmosphere was really nice. We are in the igloo bubbles. It was warm with the heaters and made it perfect. Service wise: a little slow, didn't check up a lot; had to ask twice for silverware, and refills. Just seemed to been forgot about. Food: was fine, fajitas didn't have a lot to them meat wise and peppers. Honestly wouldn't get it again. Gauc didn't taste as fresh

Yelp
This place has ALMOST become a local favorite of mine. The food, ambiance, service and drinks are good. Drink Tip: The house margarita and top shelf margarita are pre-made and tbh they both gave me a pain throbbing headache (on two different instances). HOWEVER the other cocktails are tasty and did not give me a headache, I enjoy the cocktails most with mezcal as the smoky tequila gives certain drinks a nice kick with a smoky undertone. Food Favorites: Guacamole, Steak & Shrimp Fajitas Service: The service here is chill, they'll always ask if you have a reservation, you don't need one BUT if it's after 5 you'll be better off with a reservation. Parking: There is on street parking but if it's in the evening hope for the best.

Yelp
Came here for lunch in Chestnut Hill on Father's Day. We didn't have a reservation and were told the outside patio was full, but had no problem getting a seat inside in a huge booth. The inside was very spacious with a lot of wood used in their design concept. The large bar in the centered added a nice focal point and additional seating for singles or couples. We all decided to get a drink. I got a Margarita Gose by a local brewer, while the others got Sangria, margarita, and old fashioned cocktails. All were enjoyed. You don't get free chips and salsa here, so we ordered some Queso Dip (chipotle queso topped with pico de gallo and served with chips). Immediately upon sitting the appetizer on our table I noticed the glaring unequal distribution of Queso to chips. The bowl of Queso, while tasty, was quite small. It was very quickly consumed by a table of four, with us scrapping the sides of the bowl trying to get a little more on the many remaining chips. The Queso size needs to be reevaluated for its cost. For entrees, we ordered a set of 3 tacos as did our friends. They almost always get the Nashville hot chicken tacos (Valentina honey hot sauce, ranch, pickles, flour tortilla) and did again today. I tried a bite and they were good. Not too hot, but enough kick. We ordered the Korean Steak tacos (flank steak, bulgogi marinade, avocado, red chili sesame, corn tortilla) as they sounded so good on paper, but did not deliver in actuality. All you tasted was hot from the red chili sesame. All of the other flavor profiles were just lost. I don't know if the bulgogi marinade was forgotten or what on the steak or the chili was just that heavy handed, but you could not taste it. The tacos were one note and quite disappointing. My husband took a couple bites and just couldn't deal with the heat, so he discarded his dish and ate my enchiladas instead. Speaking of the Enchiladas (3 chicken tinga enchiladas, choice of sauce (verde or roja), poblano rajas, onion, queso mixto, crema, pico de gallo, and black beans and rice). I selected the verde and was happy with the look of my plate when presented. It was a nice sized portion as far as the enchiladas and sides. The enchiladas themselves were good, nothing out of this world, but tasty. Really liked the crema and other toppings, chicken tinga was solid. The one downside to this dish was the rice was very dried out, but the beans were creamy and well seasoned. Thank God for the Churros (fried dough, cinnamon, and chocolate sauce) as they were absolutely the meal highlight. Perfectly fried and I liked both of the dipping sauces very much. They are made fresh so have to order them earlier in the meal, but worth the wait. Make sure you leave room to order these! Delicious. In general I thinking they were having a bad day, it may have been due to the Father's Day rush or just still trying getting their groove back from opening post COVID, but whatever the reason their food suffered.

Yelp
Such a cute place - had an interior and outdoor areas. My friends and I sat outside and we ordered guac, tacos, and drinks. The guac was average, nothing spectacular. The chicken tinga and shrimp tacos were good but nothing special. The carne asada and carnitas tacos were so so good! They had so much flavor and sauce. I ordered a passion fruit margarita and it was great. FYI - you order & pay online via QR code

Yelp
lunch vibes very nice. server was very accommodating food was okay full bar and location , is A-1 anyway from the craziness of Philly would go again I had Nacho's so I honestly didn't go to deep with the menu. I would definitely go again.

Yelp
The food can be hit or miss as I have visited here on many occasions. I've received really good tacos, wings, salad salad, etc. Other times, I've received not so good food. My most recent visit was good. I tried the cheesesteak empanadas which were two empanadas cut in half with three onion rings on top. It was very tasty. The ambiance is great and there are indoor and outdoor seating options. The service is typically really good.

Yelp
I went here on a Friday night with my mom. We arrived early and got to eat outside which was a plus. It was super busy so there was a wait, a good option with this restaurant is that you can order everything online. I got the quesadillas and she got the enchiladas, both were good, we split the chips and dip, and a pitcher of margaritas which were also good. Overall if you have some time on a busy night it was worth it!

Yelp
Had a great time sitting outside of El Poquito for happy hour. Was randomly walking on Germantown Ave and decided to pop in to see what it was all about. Pretty hard to find Tex-Mex on this side of town. The nachos were ok, but that main event was the margaritas. We got a pitcher for the table and it was delicious. Supplemented the margs with some tequila from the pretty robust selection. I'll said it was a struggle to walk home, but was super satisfied with the experience. Also the wait staff was great.
google avatar

Yelp
While there were more pros than cons about El Poquito, I have to admit this wasn't my favorite Mexican restaurant. Starting with the positives: Booking a reservation on the website was super easy, metered parking was available right out front, employees were friendly and the inside of the restaurant was absolutely stunning. Staff wore masks/face shields and social distancing appeared to be enforced. Stopped in on their Margarita Monday - pitchers of any margarita are $15 off all day long. I ordered a glass of sangria. There was a decent amount of fruit mixed in and I savored the spices with each sip. Food was just okay. It came out fast, but the temperature of the food wasn't right. It must've been sitting out for some time and got cold. We started off with chips and guac. Nothing special about the guac, although you can add cojita cheese, pineapple or lump crab for an additional charge. I was looking forward to trying the Impossible Chorizo tacos, but was abruptly told by the waiter that they were out of them. I settled for the curry cauliflower tacos. The cauliflower was crunchy, but lukewarm. I will say they did not skimp out on filling up the tacos with the cauliflower. The curry aioli inside the taco shell was very good and actually gave the taco the majority of its flavor. My favorite menu item by far was the esquites (corn off the cob). It was flavorful, creamy and complimented my tacos amazingly. It looks small in size, but I was able to share it with my boyfriend. Highly recommend! I would like to give El Poquito another chance. The food didn't leave a lasting impression on me, but I enjoyed my experience here. The environment was comfortable. Maybe next time I can sit outside on the heated patio or inside the heated igloos.

Hesham S.

Yelp
Bad experience with miserable bartender who hates her life. Fire her. Waited 20 minutes for a beer, and she was so incredibly rude for no reason at all. Asking her for anything was like I was personally offending her, any request was met with frustration from her. Will never come back.
google avatar

Daniela D.

Yelp
First time eating here. Wasn't anything special. The rice was undercooked and the quality was subpar.
google avatar

RB R.

Yelp
I checked out sone of the reviews and I figured I'd give El Poquito a chance. Big mistake. Let's start with the first issue, zero parking! Obviously that's not the establishments fault so that didn't impact their rating but just wanted to mention that in my review. We ended parking across street at the grocery store and took a chance at getting our vehicle towed. I do not advise that move but hey, "no risk it, no biscuit". Now onto the actual review of the food. Upon walking inside, we were greeted and seated relatively quickly. Breezed over the menu and knew exactly what I wanted to order. Strawberry margarita Nachos Shrimp tacos Pretty simple, pretty hard to mess up. The margaritas was solid, not strong but decent. (6.5/10). The nachos were decent, not much flavor but hey, serviceable (6.5/10). The shrimp tacos were some of worst tacos I've had, which was surprising because I read over so many quality reviews. The tortilla seemed to be stale and lacking any texture or substance, the shrimp was bland and just blah. There was no sauce, or anything to tie the ingredients together. (2/10). Talk about a let down. Maybe it was an off night but I will not make it a priority to spend my evenings at El Poquito anytime soon.

Yelp
More authentic than other places, lot of rice and beans with the entree servings. They don't overdo on the portions, but plate is full. We sat indoors but has outdoor seating, heaters, and bubbles. All staff wearing masks properly and dividers between tables/at the bar. Good service, chill. Parking available behind Market at the Fareway, which is only like a block away so definitely worth it. Nachos: 3/5 not a lot of chips but decent amount of cheese, chicken, sour cream, exc. Salsa Roja: very odd. Not spicy at all but reminded us of mushrooms. Not sure I would get again Tres Leches Cake: 4.5/5 Very interesting to have coconut & pumpkin seeds on top. If you want an interesting take on this treat, would recommend. Moist. Not too sweet, but also not for everyone (acquired taste) Korean Steak Tacos: 4/5: could have used a bit more flavor, the lime I had on the side was the end of the lime so there wasn't much to add but with a better lime I think it would have helped. Avocado was perfectly ripe and went well with the radish. Carnitas Tacos: 3/5 not super flavorful, meat kind of dry Quesadilla: 4/5 pretty good, chicken was a little dry. Good amount of cheese and good portion. Maji Enchiladas: 4/5 came with rice and beans, rice was fantastic; very flavorful and delicious. Could have used more flavor, were not very large Steak Fajita: 4/5 lots of peppers and onions. Very filling, don't be fooled by the appearance. Margarita: great, not too sweet. Have heard good things about the drinks here.

Yelp
Came for brunch and am now really confused by these positive reviews. My guess is reviewers have never had delicious Mexican food before. BUT maybe I should have ordered something different because what I got actually made me angry. Came for the first time with my dear friend from out of town. I feel sad now that I chose someplace where the food was not delicious. My mimosa tasted weird as if the champagne or prosecco was a bad match for the orange juice. The good thing is they give you plenty to drink. I ordered huevos rancheros and I've never been more disappointed in a meal. I almost sent it back but didn't want to be rude in front of my friend. The atmosphere was nice. I remember when that restaurant used to be different. I can't even say it will be worth it for me to try something else the next time I visit. It was that bad. The service was friendly and accommodating though.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Sunday and the place was fairly crowded. We had a reservation for the patio, which is covered and was a great place to eat. Everything was done through the Toast app, from ordering to paying. You could see everyone's orders and when it came time to pay, pay for your items only. This is great for groups. The menu had so many good options. I decided to go with a bowl and had a hard time deciding between the grilled mahi bowl or the plantain tempura mahi bowl. I ended up going with the tempura and have no regrets! It was a unique taste and so good. It was a light, but filling meal. The kids menu was great as well and our server kept our waters full. That was the only interaction we had with her.

Yelp
Good morning, I forgot to write a review for Haley. She made me and my husband feel so welcomed. He went through a loss and felt like he wanted to do something to make things better, and she delivered. I have to say that Haley made sure that we were well taken care of. Please please keep her around, because we don't see that In restaurants these days.
google avatar

Diana G.

Yelp
The atmosphere is awesome. They have etch a sketches for kids and a decent kids menu. I loved how much space there is outside and how much shade. Service was great. The margarita I had was delicious if not criminally was overpriced. Seriously.... A 16oz margarita ended up costing me $34 when I added blood orange flavor to it. Holy moly. Now for the food. The verde salsa tasted store bought. Flavorless and it was sold as their hot sauce. It also cost us $5. I know a store bought chip when I see one. I had mahi mahi tacos and the only redeeming factor was the pickled cabbage and crema. The fish was flavorless. My husband had a carnitas brunch burrito which was also fairly flavorless. My kids $8 chicken quesadilla was delicious. All in all, we spent over $100 (including tip) on a subpar meal. Not happy.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
I understand why they average 3 stars, but I think they are a little better than 3. Some people might not appreciate the authenticity. The space is cozy and the staff is great. The drink program is a plus. They have a tequila "mule" that is a clever twist. The best thing we had were actually the fried jalapeño. And the tres leche and churros were great for dessert. The entrees were all fine. Most in our group did tacos and my wife did a platter and they were all good, but honestly the portions were a little small. Usually Mexican places are generous with the portions and the plates were a little boring. The simplicity of a fried mahi taco is nice but pickled onion on top isn't quite enough. Something on the side or something to complete the plate would have been appreciated. Overall really good flavors and I'll return happily, but a little more creativity on the plating and composition would put this place over the top!

Yelp
This is a cute Mexican food place right in the heart of Chestnut Hill. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and in the winter (this year atleast) they have a cute heated igloo village. The igloos really do stay pretty warm and comfortable. Make a reservation though because they're a hot commodity! Their menu is pretty big and they have a variety of options for vegetarians too. They also have happy hour deals. The food is pretty good and priced about average. I have been there a few times, and usually service is good. The last time I went, the service was very slow and they forgot to put in some of my order but I believe they had new hires working so that's likely why. It won't keep me from returning.
google avatar

TCharves F.

Yelp
It's not that the food is bad,it's that it is falsely advertising as Mexican food. This is a synergy of yuppie banter and low quality mess. The main reason I give it such a high score ( 2 Stars) is the service was pretty good and even without a reservation the wait time was minimal.

Maria F.

Yelp
Had a great dining experience at El Poquito! They have a newish menu and will be adding another updated menu later this month with a longer wine list. It was our second time back recently and their revamped kitchen changes will keep us coming back. I highly recommend you give them a try if you haven't been there in a while. Excellent service from Janet and a special custom mezcal drink from bar manager, Peligia! Cheers!

Yelp
Plenty of spaces, large (and pricey) portions and a customer service that puts all other family-friendly establishments to shame. Must get: cauliflower tacos, cheesy nachos, free nachos (surprisingly still crispy at 9pm) Meh: guac (nothing too special), vegetable fajitas (way too oily) Missed out: fish tacos I can tell you first hand how embarrassed we were when our delayed nature got us seated in this fine restaurant just 15 minutes before its closing time. However, instead of being rushed to order the remaining lukewarm bar food options, the hostess greeted us with an eagerness and positivity that surpassed my expectations. While services do not make a 4 star review, I must admit that our entire experience was lit up from the beginning. However, I would recommend a slightly cheaper menu option for all of the other dishes. For example, most of the tacos come about $3-4 per piece and some of the larger dishes range from $15-20. While the plates were slightly generous, spending $14-15 for 4 tacos seemed a bit outrageous. However, all of that gripe went away when the staff surprised us with a sparkler in celebration of our anniversary. If you're looking for a nice, spacious place for a business meal, El Poquitto has you covered. Food: 3 stars Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 3 stars Price: 3 stars

Yelp
I recently moved to the Philadelphia area. My lady friend came down for the weekend to hangout and explore. She had a stressful week with exams and was really craving some Mexican food. We called a few places but they were unfortunately booked up and then we stumbled upon El Poquito. El Poquito did not disappoint. The first thing you notice in the restaurant is the ambience - amazing lighting, wall and table decor, and the overall atmosphere. We elected to sit inside but there is outside dining as well. Rest assured, the staff and everyone were on the ball with covid protocols. As for the food and drinks. We started off with some water and then decided for a pitcher of margs to destress from the week. Wow, they packed one helluva punch. If you want a strong margarita, this has your name on it. For food we had queso and chips for an app and chicken quesadillas and a chicken bowl for our meal. All 3 were excellent. My friend loved the pepper in the quesadilla. It was a great place to share in some great food, unwind with some margs, and really enjoy each other's company with a lot of laughs and smiles. My gratitude to the El Poquito staff.

Yelp
I met a friend for some outdoor igloo dining tonight! The outdoor set up is so nice with the lights, igloos, and pebbles on the ground. It was restaurant week so you could get three courses (appetizer, entree, and dessert). I got chips and quest, my friend and I split the shrimp and crab quesadillas and mahi mahi enchiladas for our entree. For dessert I got a brownie and Passionfruit ice cream. Everything was delicious. This is the perfect place for outdoor dining. Masks were worn by all staff and there were individual heaters in each igloo. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
What a great restaurant for Mexican food. I came here in the winter and only got to eat inside but I'm excited to come back and get to try their outs seating area. It looks gorgeous. We all ordered different margaritas and and shared them, so I got to try a couple of the flavors they're offering. All of them were delicious, not sweet and syrupy, and definitely not watered down. We all also ordered a portion of the guacamole to share. Not the best guacamole I've had in Philly but still really fresh and good. I definitely liked it more than the salsa. I ordered the chicken tacos (you get three tacos with your order). Personally I thought there was too much of a cilantro tase, but if you love that, then these will be great for you. Service was great, staff was friendly and the food came out quickly.

Yelp
Placed a take out order - it said it would be ready at 5:53. Finally at 6:23 I asked the manager where my food was and he brought it out with a quick "sorry bout that." This place has gone so downhill. Really you make your customers wait 30 minutes past the ready time with barely a sorry? It wasn't even busy.

Yelp
A little pricey but they had good Happy Hour Prices. The tacos were very delicious and the margarita was potent and refreshing. Will be back.

Yelp
A Spectacular Array of Authentic Mexican Cuisine As you enter "El Poquito," a warm welcome awaits you. Smiling staff that will make you feel at home and in your own kitchen. A gentle and serene gourmet experience enriches your visit. The renewed menu has reached the highest standard of typical, genuine, flavored, and rich entrees. A menu elaborated with fresh ingredients, cilantro, tomatoes, garlic, and rice. Be sure to request a margarita, a beer, or your favorite drink. The bar staff is ready to delight you with the best ingredients! A classic favorite is the typical fajitas cooked tender and sizzling to honor the passion for the cuisine at El Poquito and accompanied with crispy tortillas and topped with your favorite accompaniments. Avocados and cilantro with a drop of lime enhance the flavorfulness of this dish. It is a must! And another favorite, "yucas," cooked gently through inside with a toasty outlook and flamed. You can blend the flavors of El Poquito with its red and green salsas, guacamole, and the traditional Pico de Gallo. All are delicious choices! El Poquito can accommodate small, intimate, and large parties. Be sure to share your requests with the staff in advance. We were delighted by the welcome and attention of their manager, Ms. Amy, who, with professionalism, etiquette, and deep knowledge of the cuisine, recommended the perfect array of servings to our table. It is refreshing to have delicacy, elegance, and finesse as the trademark of El Poquito. We are sure you will experience this spectacular array of authentic cuisine for any special celebration, and why not on everyday occasions?

Yelp
Food is fine. Had two ants crawling in and around me and my food at the bar. Not worth a return visit in my opinion. Prices aren't worth the infestation of insects crawling around.

Yelp
Came by for some lunch and asked the two hostesses if we could sit outside. They could not have looked more miserable. One of them led us to a table that was in full sun and I asked if we could sit at one of the other 5 empty tables that were in the shade. She told us no, we couldn't, because the servers are on rotation. I handed back the menus and told her "so you're not going to give us one of those tables so we don't roast in the sun, and would rather us leave?", she then took the menus back and just walked away. So we left and went to Adelina's and had a great meal. Pretty ridiculous experience.

Yelp
My two girlfriends and I went to El Poquito for a girls night out and reserved an igloo. It was a really cute back yard style vibe and each igloo had heating fans which were much needed when we went. We decided to order a bunch of apps and entrees and share. We got chips guacamole and queso, wings, two different style tacos and quesadilla. The food was average at best. It was American style Mexican food with no types of authenticity. It was quite disappointing. Overall the service was good and the atmosphere was nice which is why I'm rating it 3 stars.

Yelp
Best margaritas in the tri-state area, even before you choose the top shelf. Tasty high quality happy food in August when everyone is at the beach. Nachos cheese whiz not my fav but it's good, all decent quality. Also imo high price quality :)

Yelp
This is pretty much the only Mexican place in Chestnut Hill and overall it's not that bad. The last time we were there it was very hot outside and it didn't seem that the AC was working or they did not have it on. We left because of it. The fish taco's are pretty good as well as the chicken. Don't show up before 5:00 pm on weekdays because they don't open the door until then. Kinda of annoying if you want to catch a quick beer or drink.

Yelp
Our food and service were excellent. We have had Mexican cuisine in Santa Fe, NM and Tucson, AZ, and this has topped all such restaurants we previously attended. Being new to Chestnut Hill, we had no idea this restaurant had changed hands. Apparently, it lost "its luster" during the pandemic, but we would highly recommend that people return for a wonderful meal. The new manager came to meet us and mentioned how much they are trying to provide the best quality fare to their customers. Try the fajitas...best we've had, huge portion, more than enough for two! Yelp
The wait for the heated tent was about half an hour on the weekend, and the wait for food is also about the same. I loved how pretty they set up the tent for outdoor dining experience. Although the heater was offered inside, you could still feel cold on a colder day so make sure you wear warm enough. Here are my thoughts on the dishes my friends and I ordered: Korean BBQ Tacos & Nashville Chicken Tacos: they were pretty good. Decent taste. The chicken was marinated a bit sweet for me, but it's a must try among other dishes Brussel Sprout: too burnt. I would not recommend this dish at all Nachos: it was okay. I would prefer more cheese. Overall, the food and drinks were good enough for a night out with friends. The tent was really romantic as well and perfect for Instagram story I would give this place a 4 stars for the atmosphere, 4 stars for the drink, and 3 stars for the food

Yelp
I ordered the carne asada taco. The meat itself was fine. As a meal it was unfulfilling. I left hungry. It was not worth $15 at all. Not even picture worthy. What a waste! Did not care for the service at all. Our waiter either didn't want to be there at all or didn't really wanna serve us. It was off putting to say the least The stars are for it being one of the few locations that offers outdoor seating during this pandemic. There were at least 2 sanitizer stations. The front desk was also friendly

Yelp
The ambiance is great and lively. The restaurant is Located on a pleasant street in Chestnut Hill. We enjoyed the great service and fun ambiance. We sat outside in the bubble. It was cold outside but the heated lamps kept us warm and cozy. The Nachos and tacos were delicious and we enjoyed our drinks as well.

Yelp
We had reservations and we were told to wait 10-15 mins which didnt make sense. I was given a used menu (picture shown below) which had grease on it. There were so many tables that weren't cleaned off and overall seemed unsanitary. Now to the food, the nachos were good and the margarita pitchers were strong. But everything took over an hour to reach our table. My sister ordered fajitas and she never got tortillas after the server said she'll be back with it. We ended up packing our food and later throwing it out since it just wasnt good. Our experience was so poor for having a $200 bill.
