"El Primo is one of our favorite spots in South Austin for tacos and tortas alike, and we’re certainly not alone. You’ll probably pull up to a long line and be quoted a wait time that’ll make you wonder if it’s all worth it. It is—just grab a cold drink at the convenience store they share a parking lot with, and try to find a small bit of shade under the lone tree casting a not-nearly-big-enough shadow. There are a few great options here, ranging from the rarely-sighted breakfast torta, all the way to the Super Torta that comes loaded with carne asada, al pastor, and ham—our personal favorite." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"Austinites are passionate about El Primo’s beans, so be sure to sample a steaming bean and cheese breakfast taco from this small taco cart.. The migas stuffed with ham is another safe bet, as is the barbacoa. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and early dinner with limited outdoor seating, so this might be more of a take-it-to-go option. Online orders can be made in advance." - Nadia Chaudhury
"South Austin’s favorite breakfast tacos are found at this South First food truck. The thick, fluffy tortillas make them standouts, and there are meaty burritos, tortas, and tacos for lunch. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person (cash only), and there is a tiny dining area on-site." - Erin Russell
"With simple but tasty offerings and some of the fluffiest tortillas in town, the tiny Bouldin Creek cart is South Austin’s most beloved breakfast taco destination. The migas with ham is an epic taco. Be warned: There will likely be a line, and the cart only accepts cash, so be sure to get there early and bring cash. The outdoor dining area is small, so ordering online is smart if you plan to take your tacos elsewhere." - Erin Russell
"Waiting in lines for food is basically a sport in Austin. There’s often a good reason for the line—and at El Primo’s it’s the fantastic breakfast tacos. Like moths to a light, people are powerless to the migas tacos (the default version is made with deli ham, which is pretty unique to this place) and the housemade chorizo and egg. You’ll see crowds waiting patiently for their orders while traffic whizzes by on South First. What to get: Migas (with ham); Chorizo and egg " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
