El Pub Restaurant - Review - Little Havana - Miami - The Infatuation

"El Pub is a common stop on Little Havana food tours, where guides in guayaberas pass out Cuban empanadas and regale Wisconsinites on the luck they’ll have if they find an olive in their picadillo. And those empanadas are good. They’re fried until crispy and filled with loads of meat (just stay away from the cheese empanada unless you’ve got Lactaid on hand). It’s not one of the best Cuban restaurants in Miami. But it’s been around for almost 30 years and gets the job done. We also like it for a quick colada at the ventanita. And if you’re in the mood for some good old Cuban ingenuity, try their flan and chicken tenders for a weird (but enjoyable) breakfast." - Virginia Otazo

My first stop for breakfast in this area. Angel was the host and spoke English. Angel was able to help me from outside finding parking to going inside to sit down. Angel is an Excellent Host. Yamilette R. was my waitess/server she was good as well. The food was very good. The coffee was awesome. The mango juice taste great. Everyone was kind. Thank you for having me and my mom.

First time visiting Little Havana as a couple In Miami Florida whilst on holiday, we were looking for a place to eat for lunch, El Pub Restaurant caught our eye as it looked busy (which normally means good to us brits) and the atmosphere looked great! We were greeted by a friendly gentleman named Ariel who served us lovely food pictured and his service was excellent! Highly recommend visiting this restaurant if you are visiting Little Havana and looking for a bite to eat, I have no doubt I’m sure dinner there would’ve been awesome also 🤙🏼 Thank you!

Food was really really great. Service was crap. We waited a really long time for a waiter to acknowledge us and our food was brought out in all different times. We ordered apps and they came out with the meal…. Then I had to go get a waiter for the check and to-go boxes. We were there for two hours during lunch….

Brought my mother here after a long day of touristing. This place was very clean, large and had plenty of seating inside and out. My mom ordered fresh squeezed orange juice and it was spectacular. For dinner I ordered the chicharrónes de pollo that comes with two sides of your choice, I went with white rice and yuca al mojo. They were served in large healthy portions that I had plenty of leftovers. The chicharrónes de pollo were delicious, juicy. The yuca was really good. My mom enjoyed her vacation frita as well.

Been here twice: for a breakfast and for a quick drink. Breakfast options are quite varied though they were out of pancakes that was bit of a let down. Portions were big and filling. The best thing is their mojito Mondays - you can get delicious cocktails at only $6 for the whole day!

Update: Went back for lunch next day- which was delicious! Yusnavy was our server and she was absolutely delightful! 🩷 Friendly service was the first thing I noticed when we ordered a Cuban espresso. We wandered back for lunch- a tasty mojito and a Cuban sandwich. Generous portions and the bread / sandwich was delicious.

Yelp
El Pub is a classic Little Havana gem that perfectly captures the heart and soul of Miami. This unpretentious spot has authentic Cuban foods. I stopped by for a meal and had empanadas. They were ok but nothing to write home about. The ropa vieja however was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned, served with white rice, black beans, and sweet plantains. The Cuban sandwich is another standout--crispy, cheesy, and flavorful. And you also have to get a coffee while youre there. The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel like family. Sitting outside gives you a true taste of the lively culture of Little Havana, with music, people-watching, and a sense of community all around. The music was also cool.

Yelp
I came out to Miami for my birthday and this was the first place my uncle took me. I was looking to try more Cuban cuisine and this was the SPOT. I had the Vaca Frita steak for the first time and it was really good. It's basically crispy shredded beef. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The onions went well with the steak. On the side I had white rice and black beans can't go wrong with that combo. I love flan so when I seen they had a flan milkshake I had to try it. It was real sweet and creamy and was honestly the perfect embodiment of a flan and milkshake combo. On my last day in Miami I came back. This time I had to order the Cubano sandwich and it was fire. First off presentation was on point. The bread was toasted nice and crisp. The meat inside was juicy and had that Smokey taste to it. I love the pickles. The fries as garnish was nice. I really wanted to true the cuatro leches milkshake but they ran out so I got the flan again. That milkshake was still good. Service was pretty good. I love how it's more of an old school vibe. The waiters were amazing and on point with everything. The complimentary butter bread was nice. Overall, this is a dope Cuban restaurant in Little Havana. The aesthetics are nice and old school. If you're in Miami looking for Cuban cuisine this is the place.

Yelp
Cute little spot. Pitcher of mojitos was good and food came out quick. However, service was very slow. Fine at first because we were just relaxing but 30 minutes after ordering drinks, we didn't even offer food. Once ordered, it cam quickly. Worse part was paying the bill. We get bill and I gave 10% because of service. She takes the check, walks away, reviews my tip and comes back to say they REQUIRE 18% TIP. I had to give another $4. No where on menu or restaurant said required tip. Absolutely ridiculous. El Pub, el no

Yelp
I will never eat here again! Our waitress was very rude, no hello, no welcome, just "what do you want?" We ordered drinks and when she came back we tried to make small talk and she just asked "ready to order" not even a reply. I get having a bad day but you can at least fake a smile. I forgot to order a shake therefore I got up and went to her so that she would not have to come back to the table and she answered "what" I repeated my order and she did not even give me an acknowledgement. Then I went to the ladies room and witnessed another waitress leaving a bathroom stall and she did NOT wash her hands. Gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
They have live music but other than that this place is pretty average. The food wasn't anything to rave about nor their mojitos. Service was food and they do a have a small dedicated parking behind the building which is a plus. But be prepared for really tight spots.

Yelp
Highly recommended from a lot of people in the Calle Ocho area. I will say, nothing beats $6 all day Mojito Mondays so that for sure was my favorite part. Bonus points if you're actually there on a Monday, and we sure were. After snacking around and trying different bites around Calle Ocho, it was time for a meal, an authentic Cuban meal. From croquetas to sandwiches, fufu to rice and beans, here you will find all the delicious staples. We ordered mariquitas because these felt so nostalgic to me from years ago and our friends always ordering them and sadly they weren't as fresh as we would've liked and the mojo was straight up garlic (flavorless). Either way we loved our rice and beans and the sweet maduros we got. Our friends ordered sandwiches and they were HUGE (big enough to share). El Pub is a big staple of Calle Ocho but next time we'll probably try something else when we're not in a hurry. Definitely a quick place to get a sit down meal or sandwich, so if you're just casually dining or needed to be on the faster side, this place is pretty great for that. Mojito Monday, we will be back. DESSERT: leave. space. for. FLAN. That's all I'll

Yelp
I've seen the Little Havana food tours stop here for a coffee and empanada. So we chose it for lunch. They claim to be the oldest restaurant in Little Havana. I had the tostones rellenos with chicken, still in search of the best in town. The tostones were a bit oily and needed salt. I prefer it when they are shaped like cups to hold the filling. My friend had the fufu de platano, a Cuban mofongo. Served beautifully in a wooden trencher. She enjoyed. The place was pretty full and the service good. They did not rush us when we were finished.

Yelp
I went here for a drinks in Little havana decided to check it out with my man. I had 4 croquetas and my man had mojitos and I had the strawberry daiquiris the croquetas were pretty decent. I really liked trying the mojito it was actually refreshing and delicious a lot better than my daiquiri actually our server was really nice and attentive she let us take our time when it came to ordering the food. I'd come back here to have some mojitos they were great!

Yelp
Food was amazing and authentic. Drinks were delicious as well. The ropa vieja is the dish to get for sure! Empanadas were just ok but lots of great options overall. Patio was nice to sit out as well.

Yelp
We went in because they looked busy when walking around in little Havana and I am glad we did. We just wanted to get pre lunch drinks but also ended up getting the Chicken empanadas along with The Cuban beer and the Pina colada. Everything was good and the service was excellent. The ambient is rustic old time theme and we loved it.

Yelp
Male host was welcoming & actually thanked us for coming in. Our waitress was less then friendly. We had to ask twice for our condiments. Had the Miami club, and a side of mixed rice and beans. The sandwich was good. The rice and beans was cold, and tasted dry and old. The waitress did not check on us once. A second waitress brought our check and brought us a Togo box. They offered booths, tables and bar seating. They also had outside seating.

Yelp
We were told El Pub was known for their empanadas and they did not disappoint! The restaurant was BUSY on Sunday afternoon. Thank goodness they have a to-go window. We quickly ordered and the empanadas were ready in less than 5 minutes. The beef empanadas were bomb. The pastry was so flakey and buttery - ugh, I would've enjoyed that crust without the filling. lol but they do pack in the beef! The hot sauce they serve with it adds a nice kick of flavor. Definitely a must try when you're in Little Havana!
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Stopped in for my own food tour of little Havana! I sat at the bar and had a beef empanada and Cuban coffee. The beef empanada was filled with beef and the shell was flaky. I especially loved that it wasn't greasy. I added the hot sauce to kick it up a notch which rounded out the seasoned beef inside. Next up the Cuban coffee. It was like expresso on steroids. The waitress asked me if I wanted sugar. Usually I am not a fan of sugar but opted because she suggested I do so. Take her advice: go for the sugar. It's super concentrated and strong. The flavor is smooth but on the bitter side. The sugar adds a nice finish. It's served in the tiniest cup which hints at the powerful punch it's about to give. Pinkies up!

Maryn M.

Yelp
Pass on the vaca frita de pollo. Not shredded, crispy, or stir fried with the onions. The taste was fine, but the dish was just disappointing and not what I ordered. My waitress was nice, though. The outdoor seating was fine too.
google avatar

Allie H.

Yelp
Cool place that serves coffee, empanadas and variety of other foods! The beef empanada was crisp and flavorful. When dipped in their spicy sauce, it took it next level! The coffee was sweet and strong. You only need a bit to wake you up!
google avatar

Steph S.

Yelp
I didn't eat here but my friends all did and I sat with them while they ate. They got a lot of different foods and it came out decently fast. Louis our server was very nice. They enjoyed the food! It looked and smelled good!
google avatar

Katrina G.

Yelp
I went on a sightseeing tour and this location was a pit stop for the empanadas. The tour guide raved about the beef empanada that had banana inside and suggested the hot sauce as well. I was a little hesitant but decided to order it and I am so glad I did. The crust was flaky, the inside was packed with beef, the empanada itself had a good flavor but the hot sauce definitely took it up a notch. I did get the order to go so I can't really comment on the service but I would definitely recommend trying the empanada from this location.
google avatar

Nerina B.

Yelp
This was part of a walking tour. We stopped here for their beef empanadas. The beef empanada was very good. Just needed a tad more seasoning but other than that it is a must try. The dough was nicely golden fried, not greasy and very good.

Neil H.

Yelp
This place is a maybe. Got the special Cuban sandwich and fries. Sandwich was okay. Noting to brag about.pork a little dry. Not many pickles. Mustard good. Lite on cheese. Fries hot but bland no salt or spices. Seems like a local favorite but not for me.
google avatar

Cynthia R.

Yelp
The beef empanadas were to die for!! So pillowy soft yet crunchy edges. And so flavorful. Like OMG, no words lol. Add some hot sauce to take up the flavor even more. Amazing. Chefs kiss. And tried a real Cuban coffee, just a tiny cups worth is soooooo strong lol. It was delicious though but definitely gotta watch your intake with those for sure lol
google avatar

Yelp
We took a food tour & stopped here. The coffee was amazing & so were the empanadas. We would definitely order from this place if we visit Miami again.

Yelp
We decided to have lunch here and it did not disappoint. The hostess was very friendly and she sat us down right away. It wasn't too busy but the restaurant had a steady flow of people coming and going. As soon as we sat down, the waitress came on over and handed us menus. We ordered a few waters and a soda. We quickly just glanced over the menu since we already knew what we wanted. We ordered: Empanadas 3 carne con papas 1 jamon con queso 1 queso con guava and 1 order of fried plantains The empanadas were delicious. You can not come to this restaurant without trying the empanadas. The carne con papas, was my favorite and my sister really liked the jamon con queso.. You must ask for the salsa and put that on top, it's soooo good. The fried plantains were actually pretty sweet and were a good way to end our meal. Service was great, fast, and our waitress was really friendly. The inside of the restaurant is really cute as they have a lot of Cuban memorabilia on the walls. Prices are reasonable, give this place a try!

Karissa Q.

Yelp
So disappointed. The on site parking was easy but none of us even ate our food. We let them know the chicken was so rubbery it couldn't even be swallowed and the soup was horrible. We sent it all back paid and left. They didn't offer to have anything remade or to fix it.
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Delicious authentic Cuban food. Everything came out very quickly. Service was good. Ambiance was very upbeat , they had great music on. I love croquettas and I got the Cuban sandwich with jam on croquettas inside! my eyes we're bigger than my stomach! This will be dinner as well! The empanada was perfect. Hot, crispy, delicious. Will return next time I'm in miami'

Yelp
Highly recommended all 4 plates we ordered were delicious . Arroz con leche and mojitos exquisito

Yelp
The food, music and experience was really authentic and nice! Highly recommended! We highly recommend this place for a Calle Ocho experience. The service was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Walk up to the window and ask for a café cubano. Sugar or no sugar, that's up to you. Typically it's ordered with the sugar, just in case you were wondering. Stand outside against a wooden counter and take in the beautiful surroundings and wonderful breeze. Folks working here are super friendly. It's the Best!

Yelp
Great little unassuming hole in the wall in Little Havana near the visitor center. We enjoyed a croqueta preparada at the bar. Our server was attentive. We loved watching the cook make all the orders. Great conversation with a local who eats there everyday!!!

Yelp
Heard a lot of good thing about this place which is always a plus. The food, coffee and so on. We stopped by for dinner, there was six of us on a business gathering. Which apparently we did not know that separate or split check was not allowed. You basically would have to out on one bill and go from there. As it was for work, we would have to have separate bills. From there, we were about to leave as they couldn't accommodate us but the waitress said she'll talk to manager. Who know if that was the case, they ended up doing three checks instead. Food wise, it was good. What we ordered. Did take some of the recommendations from waitress. The seafood dish in the broth was great. As well as the whole fish. Empanadas great as well. The calamari was just ok. Drinks was good and was still available during happy hour. Overall, fish and the seafood dish was the best. Just be aware that split check is not allowed. We were going to leave but they ended up accommodating us as they could have lost out of six meals and drinks including appetizers. Overall, we enjoyed what we had.

Yelp
Yum... ABSOLUTE DELICIOUSNESS!!!! We had a very long layover in Miami so we decided to visit Little Havana. There are tons of boutique restaurants along Calle 8, but something about El Pub was welcoming. It's definitely not the prettiest restaurant from the outside, but sometimes those are the best spots to eat. The interior is like going to your elder's house, the one that cooks the best food. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and sat at the bar in the front. The menu had LOTS of great options but I went with the beef empanadas and the Cuban sandwich. Can't be in Little Havana and NOT get a Cuban sandwich and a cafecito. The cafe Cubano was so delicious! It was smooth and flavorful. The food came out really quick too. The empanadas were STUFFED with filling. Soooo good!!! The Cuban sandwich was delicious! The bread was crispy on the outside and buttery soft on the inside. Everything was so yummy. The price was awesome for everything I got. Will definitely return when I'm in Miami.

Yelp
The Cuban sandwich was soooo good. I am definitely going to go back and try something else.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere in little Havana in Miami. Mango Mojitos was so tasty Authentic chicken and rice Cuban food Not too dry very flavorful

Yelp
What drew us in was the $6, Monday mojito special they were delicious and refreshing. We order the calamari- it was good and liked the dipping sauce. My husband and I then shared the lechón sandwich, meat was cooked perfectly.

Yelp
Visited this place during a culinary tour of Little Havana. Excellent empanadas and cafecito! Great authenticity on a picturesque street. Definitely recommend to stop.

Yelp
The food is delicious. The food came out quickly. The service was good. Good location right on the main strip
google avatar

Yelp
Stays open until 2:00 AM before you get your lyft it's perfect to get snacks for tomorrow. In this case empanadas de queso con hamon. Service is right outside the window perfect. Along with the night life it's perfect to end the evening with perfect cultural vibes of old Cuba welcome to little Havana. You will definitely come here again. That's is all. Chief Cuban sandwich only in Miami
google avatar

Jasmin M.

Yelp
Was attracted bc of the people standing outside so I came close to read the menu and a person passed by and said try it's really good and they have a dying margarita!
google avatar

Atira S.

Yelp
I just happened to be walking around, and their empanadas caught my eye! I went inside and was seated immediately. Service was not the best. We had to flag down our server multiple times just to place our order. The food was very good though. My favorite was El Miami. The bread was warm and toasted, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. I also LOVED their guava and cheese empanada. One of the best I've had. I will be back!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
Born and raised in Miami and this is the best croqueta preparada I've had lately. It's not super stuffed with ham on a thick Cuban bread. It's the perfect amount of ham, cheese, and the croqueta in a fresh Cuban bread perfectly toasted on the flat press. Super delicious. LOCALS order a cortadito with evaporated milk instead of regular. It's heavenly.

Yelp
Actually found this restaurant using Yelp. Was in the area due to having to be at Jackson Memorial Hospital and decided to give this place a try. On a Monday at 3:30 in the afternoon they had live music. The outside patio felt so relaxing and inviting with the pop up bar. We sat inside to listen to the music. The waitress that we had was very attentive and was able to understand what we were ordering and was able to communicate, even though there was some language barriers. Started with that beef empanadas, which were moist inside and so good. We also got the fried plantain chips. The sauce that comes with it is phenomenal that I actually used it for my Neel as well. my sister got the Cuban and said it was the best Cuban she has had. My Palomilla steak wasn't as thin as what I'm accustomed to, but for the thickness and juiciness of the steak made it melt in your mouth. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area. Mondays are $6.95 mojitos
google avatar

Jade L.

Yelp
The food is really good that we came here twice in three days. Highly recommend the Tamal en Cazuela and Mango Mojito (it's only $6 during happy hours!) The service is good too, the workers here are so chill.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
The food was incredible. We went with the traditional Cuban sandwich & Empandas... phenomenal. Service was fast too. We were in and out within 15-20mins. Must try if your in Little Havana!
google avatar

Shad W.

Yelp
A must stop any time I am in Miami. Their staff is great, service is quick and the quality of food is amazing. Next time you are in Miami check out little Havana and the great ambiance.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
I can only comment on the coffee and empanada de carne, but both were excellent. We went as part of a walking food tour and our guide explained to us how Cuban coffee was made and how one small cup was meant to be shared with multiple people. We all tried some and it was really nice and strong, but still sweet. He also gave is each and empanada that was filled with a ground beef mixture. Super good tasting and we were glad to learn about it from a local.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Very great food! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get food in the little Havana area! Service was great. Food and drinks were great also! Will be back!
google avatar

Marti H.

Yelp
It's the bread. The bread on the sandwiches is perfectly crisply on the outside and soft on the inside. The vibe is on point with the music, staff culture and locals. Sit at the bar to have a good view and be emerged in all things El Pub.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
We love El Pub! Good prices, good food, and good service. We went on a Friday night, so we took advantage of the Happy Hour from 5-8pm and got the $20 Beer Bucket, which came with 5 beers. We take visiting friends & family here all the time, everyone loves it.
google avatar

Cristina C.

Yelp
We are vacationing in Miami. No vacation is complete without a visit to Little Havana. I have mixed feelings about El Pub. First we stopped for their $5 mojitos. The mint was old, even brown in the drink. The bartender completely ignored us, and the waitress literally asked, "what do you want?" Then the bartender quickly served another couple that just walked up. We came back with a walking food tour. Their empenadas and Cuban coffee are amazing! So after the tour we came back for more empenadas and had the same terrible service experience with a different waitress. Bottom line- go to the Little window and get your empenadas to go.
