First time here and it was a great experience. The food was so absolutely yummy. The people were so nice. It's definitely I must try and try again

Highly recommended… Big portions, big flavor, endless choices of mouth watering goodies to choose from. Plenty of seating, you name it, they have it. Put this place on your bucket list, must try.

One of or if not the best spot in Brooklyn for Spanish food. I’ve been coming here for over 15 years and even after moving out of state, I still come back for the food every time I visit. Without fail it’s always just as I remembered. This time I gathered here with my family for my birthday dinner and would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the manager and staff for bringing out a cake and singing Happy Birthday. When in Brooklyn, drop on in. You won’t be disappointed! My favorite dish is their thick cut pork chops that are always cooked to perfection paired with the rice & beans and a side of sweet plantains.

O.M.G. Awesome Food! My favorite is the Camaronfongo (Shrimp Mofongo) but everything on the Menu is Delicious. Awesome Staff and Owner. Highly recommend.

Food was great, service could be better. We had fried snapper. Two orders of fried boneless chicken, which was amazing. Yellow rice and red beans, white rice and red beans, and tostones. We also had chicken empanadas fresh from the oil!! Delicious!!!

I love ordering from this restaurant. I haven’t done so in a while but I soon will start back. Their T-bone steak, shrimp with rice and peas are so good and so is there drinks and butter bread. They delivery is quick and friendly. As I said before I will be going back soon.

I’m not gonna lie, for all you going you might tend to take the waitresses as snobby. They are not. They are the sweetest ladies ever and are about their business. I’ve been coming here since they opened. Today I went with my husband and his family after his arrival from 9 months away. Mind you, we were here yesterday and we absolutely adore the hands that cook the food. Food is abundant, liquor is poured fairly, service is fast and rest assure of the owner is there, he’s coming to the table to make sure everyone’s good (they have multiple). I give this place a 10+. If you have a situation while there, you kindly speak on it and you’ll be heard. Give them an attitude and you’ll be leaving upset 🤣 God bless the hands that make the food and those who service us. And shout-out to the gentlemen that photo bombed us 🤣😍

El Rey was recommended by a friend, so my first time trying their food. I ordered chicken chunks and stew goat. Like another reviewer mentioned, the chicken chunks had feathers attached to them, yikes. Both meat dishes with white rice and red beans. I received one small salad, though they told me the dishes do not come with sides. The stew goat didn’t taste like stew, tasted more like it was roasted in the oven, and the broth they provided was the juices from being roasted vs an actual stew. The food was okay, not as tasty as I was hoping, and I likely won’t order again.

Whenever I'm in the mood for authentic Spanish food this is my go to restaurant. Food is always fresh hot and ready to be serve. Service was okay It was a lot of people placing orders so it was a bit pack when I arrived.

Want some delicious Dominican food? Then you have to try out El Rey II. It's located on city line, Liberty Ave. I came here after a nail salon date with my friend and the food was delicious!! I came here several times for take out but this was my first dinning in experience. I got the churrasco steak with a side of salad and white rice and beans. My daughter got an order of sweet plantains and my friend got a Pernil mofongo with rice and beans as a side. We all enjoyed our meal. The steak was very flavorful and tender- so delicious!! The plantains were cooked to perfection and the mofongo made my friend want to move to DR! She also got a morir sonando which she loved! The service was pretty good. I didn't catch the servers name as she didn't introduce herself but she was nice and attentive to our table. It was loud inside as others around us were drinking and hanging out. We didn't mind though, we were happy they were enjoying their lives. They used to have a outdoor dinning area but I noticed they got rid of it. Parking in the area is pretty terrible so I'm assuming that may have had something to do with it. I would come and dine in once again.

By far the best food in NYC. My boyfriend got the grilled snapper, I got steak with rice and beans and we had shrimp ceviche. Everything was so amazing. The ceviche came with tostones. Amazing food.

My wife and I have eaten here for many years now. Best grilled salmon and skirt steak we have eaten and not over priced the owners and staff are very friendly always attentive of customers need. We want to especially thank Donna who is our regular server she goes above and beyond not only for us but to all the customers she serves. And she also makes the best apple martini.

I called this evening to place an order for delivery. The person that answered couldn't speak English, so she hung up. I called back several times, and each time that I stated that I wanted to place an order for delivery, she hung up. If the employees aren't bilingual, then they shouldn't be answering the phone. Your business is in a diverse community, so your employees need to be able to communicate with non Spanish speaking customers as well. I will share with others in the neighborhood that your employees don't care to do business with English speaking customers.

Pretty decent. Neighborhood spot so you see regulars. Always busy but manager makes sure service is good. Food is delish and prices are great. Only thing I don't like is seating at front because it's so busy. If you eat there sit in the back. Also please be more selective because there was a vagrant there and it was unnerving trying to eat.

Been coming here for a few years now. I love this place. Their drinks alcohol/nonalcoholic are delicious. Food is even better. Food is fresh. Always pack, the wait is worth it. Indoor n outdoor eating available. Friendly staff, great owner/manager as well. They help the community with sponsorship and help others in need. One of my favorite Spanish restaurants. (Street parking). Reasonable prices. Favorite dishes: Passion fruit milkshake, their ribs, steaks in sauce, chicken chunks with sweet plantain and much more.

Fried porkchops were perfectly cook. DELICIOUS. My wife had beef liver smothered with onions. Rice and beans , fried yuce and plantain were all cooked and prepared with passion. Great delivery arrived fresh and hot.

Pork chops, fried chicken chunks were delicious. My husband enjoyed the steak. Service was okay. Ambiance needs a little updating.

All I can say is the best Spanish food in the neighborhood! Delivery service is exceptional. A definite weekly order in our house.

I ordered 8 BBQ ribs on the phone with Jhaendy and picked up the order. When I get home it's plain ribs with a cup of BBQ sauce on the side which isn't even enough for 8 pieces of ribs. I called and asked why they sent ribs like this and the ladies who answer the phone told me to put my own sauce. Very bad attitude. I told her I've ordered BBQ ribs many times and it was never sent to me like this. She said well thats too bad that's how they did it. She passed the phone to jhaendy and she told me that's how it is and that's it. Seriously this place is getting worst every day

I came here and got the pernil with rice and beans. I was served a good amount of food and the food tasted good. Service was good and the place was clean. The price was very good.

Great Food ! Music playing while u eat or drink they have a bar area & they got tv on walls . The place is clean with friendly and polite staffs .indoor and outdoor dining. This is a must go again spot for your drinks and or food.

Food quality has gone down. Made a delivery order that was promised in 45min and an hour and half later was still waiting with no Good excuse (my guess is that they forgot) the fried shrimp and rice and plátanos were all disappointing and left a lot to be desired. Not sure what's a happened but food quality has definitely suffered.

I am a love of Latin food , with it being my favorite ! A friend of mine referred me to this resturant, i didn't have the privilege of sitting and dining but even the service during this pandemic was exceptional ! The staff is friendly , and knowledgeable of the menus , and specials also they have social distance indications all over with constant reminders of respecting the protocol put in place .. the food was great ! I ordered garlic salmon rice and peas , stew chicken and fried red snapper &, tostones everything was delicious! seasoned and prepared to perfection , i highly recommend this place Got my vote

They blacked out ALL their prices on the menu so I ate here again today instead of just using the bathroom. For some reason their prices change without notice due to Covid. But at least I wasn't grossly overcharged because the price on the menu didn't match the price on my check. Had a good meal with good service. And asked the price on every single thing I ordered.

The reason I was in here today I sat myself down it took a minute to realize I was sitting, then worse when I ask for a soda she forgot all me. Literally had me sitting for a bit, I literally had to look at her n stare at her to serve me. El Rey good food but lousy service literally. They need to train their waitresses, still forgot my order smh Then after I was finished I had to wait 15 mins for them to give me a check to pay n I had to ask for it. If you go there don't expect the best service from the waitresses at all Now when I go there it's only take out smh Oh yeah I tipped her a dollar, even that was too much...

I heard about the food so I decided to do some take out. It's your typical Dominican restaurant when you walk in. Screen shows you the rice, beans, meats. However they have a fully loaded menu (tacos, seafood, etc) you'll have to order that towards the register because there made fresh for you. I noticed if you dine in you'll be able to order alcohol beverages which is super cool. I will definitely come back and sit in to try their drinks. My dad liked the fried pork rice and beans that I got him. I ordered a fried snapper and I got this big platter with a nice size fish. I was impressed by the presentation. I want to try their deserts next time as well. For my two meals of friends pork, rice, beans and my single fried snapper my bill came up to $49 which is not bad at all.

So disappointing to have spent 60.00 on food from here and get sour rice which spoiled all of our appetites

My friend is a big fan of this restaurant located in south ozone park. It's spacious, there's hot food to take out right up front and seating and menus for those willing to stay. It's definitely your typical comfort food if I must say. Dominican Cuisine like someone grandma made it. Service is not bad, not the most professional and that's okay because this is you neighborhood low key local restaurant. My favorite has got to be the mofongo sliders, you get three on a plate & they are pretty good. The rotisserie chicken is so so, a bit on the dry side. The yellow rice and beans are on point always. Their salad is very fresh always. The skirt steak was decent, so was the grilled shrimp. The fact that they stay open till 2 am is a plus! My friend swears by their oxtail and I believe it's excellent as it was sold out all 4 times we went to this restaurant. Check them out. Oh and dress down !

Me and my girl went and got breakfast yesterday, I got eggs steak and potatoes and she got the same but with bacon instead. We've had the runs ever since lmao. Getting food poisoned together is definitely checked off our to-do list.

Food and service has gone down tremendously. Lived in the area for almost my whole life. Always something wrong with the order and prices increase aren't justified

This is a great little place to buy delicious food, very flavorful. I would go here again. I used to go here years ago when I worked in Brooklyn and rediscovered them earlier this year while visiting friends in the borough. Great food and they deliver.

Update to my review, years later. The food here is amazingly flavorful. Really good soups, rice, the rotisserie chicken!!! Very affordable food. Overall Service is good, If you can pretend to speak Spanish.

The food is delicious. I was there with my mom yesterday 2/8/20 the place Was NOT full but we had to wait a while. We ate and when we were about to pay I saw my bill. Gratuity was automatically added, and a service fee as well. I questioned it. We were a party of 2, not 6 plus. That's the legal TERMS in order to automatically add tip! It's also law NOT to tax the gratuity, which they did. Apparently they charge u svs fee bc u are using your debit card. No where in the restaurant does it state this. So be aware!!! They'll hike up your bill if you don't question it. I got them to take the gratuity off, but they insisted on the svc fee. SMH, I won't be dining there again!

Worst customer service in the world. Called to place a order for delivery at 3:05 called again at 5 wondering where the food was at and to come and find out they never placed the order and tried to place it again when I had called in. It's such a shame that a place with great potential is run by horrible customer service.

Food was great! Company was good! The manager and his was good company.. Great spot to watch the basketball game!! what more can you ask for? See y'all next time.

Man oh man has this place fallen off. I've been going to this place for 15 yrs. the food used to be soo good now it's cold every time you receive it, it doesn't taste good anymore. The service is absolutely horrific how they speak and treat you. And they charge you what ever the hell they want. I can order the same thing consecutively and get charged a different price each time and if you question that they become down right hostile.

Good food. Bad service. Requested hot food- received cold food. As if it was brought out cold on purpose. Waitress was arrogant. Was very defensive about what chimichurri sauce was. And lastly, price of food doesn't reflect the real price. Will not be going back till service changes.

I ordered their T-bone steak which usually come with a side of rice and beans but I substituted it with mashed potatoes with gravy. The food came out pretty fast. They are always packed so should expect to wait before getting seated. Although I asked for a medium rare temperature they made it well done. The steak was well seasoned with full of flavor. The steak was big portion and the side was plentiful too. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience and would go there again to try out their other tasty dishes!

Came to order here on a Sunday and the place busy. I asked for the menù since, my order was to go and I wanted it freshly made. I ordered a few plates including the Crab Meat Mofongo, chicharron de pollo. I waited for my order and them I was given my cc receipt to sign which was ready to do so when my wife stopped me and, demanded an itemized bill. Going over it, we discovered why not providing an itemized bill in the first place. We were overcharged for the Mofongo and when questioned, the moron working at the register simply replied that that was what the computer said. When confronted with the actual menu and a totally different and way lowe price, he simply replied that he could show us on their payment management that the price was $16.95 and not the falsely advertised menu price of $11.95. I told him that they are ib the business to trick and fool people out of their hard earned cash and he did not even showed any concern or anything else to a point that we told him he was "Robando" to whomever ordered here. I waited a few weeks to see if, he was smart enough and re adjust the bill.m and he did not. I understand that, this is not a restaurant for a repeat visit for anyone due to their food being so bland and, the tremendous lack of hospitality. "I'm simply judging based on my own experience and have not read any other reviews." Beware when getting a simple receipt that only shows what the total is. Demand an itemized copy and thank me l8er.

I came here on a Sunday night w/ a group of friends to get some dinner. As soon as you walk into the restaurant there is a huge smell of seafood that hits you in the face (heads up for anyone w/ seafood allergies), lucky I took a Benadryl just in case because my friends tend to forget my allergies. Anyways, you enter the restaurant and you will get hit with stares especially if you aren't Hispanic, which isn't a big issue but get ready to get stares from the workers and patrons in the place. We get table and before we sit of the servers clean the table for us, which was nice. After we get seated the waitress comes to get our order. She was super polite was a language barrier of course, I asked for a water and she look confused until I say 'agua' and she understood me. I ordered that skirt steak (med well) w/ rice and beans. I got the smallest steak out of everyone and it wasn't even cooked med well it was actually more along the lines of med rare, it could still see the bright red. Overall the food was mediocre and not worth the price, in my opinion.

I haven't been here in a while since Covid but now that I came back and ate here I remember why I loved the food!!!

Love this place. A nice Mom and Pop restaurant. I blame them for my addiction to Hennycoladas (Henny in general!!! lol). The rice con gandules is really good & their fried snapper is exceptional. Every bite was seasoned to perfection. The prices are decent. Street parking is always hassle-free. TV all around so it's also a good place to watch a sporting event.

I've been ordering here often , & after I tonight I totally give up I asked for a chicken soup and got oil and bones in a pint I ordered steak it wasn't nearly cooked I give up on this resturant Terrible service

The food is great. I say it gets 5 stars . Place looks clean BUT... THE SERVICE can be a hit or miss. I hate it when I have to wave for the waitress. Some of them got attitude. Place usually is busy . Parking in the area can be a pain sometimes. I usually order Their camarofongo ( shrimp fried plantain) is real good. Get it with garlic sauce ( white sauce). Overall, I give them 3 and 1/2 stars maybe even 4 stars.

The food is always fresh and done in a timely matter the severs are very friendly and never have a problem with the food and good quality food that is inexpensive love here I recommend 10 out of 10

In terms of food, El Rey II deserves a 3.5 star rating. I'm a big fan of their oxtail and enjoy their maduros and bistec, but other dishes and sides have been hits or misses. Due to its inconsistent but primarily slow and unfriendly service, they get an overall rating of 3 stars. The biggest problem is most employees do not speak a lick of English, making the ordering process painful for customers. We've ordered for delivery and pickup and neither choice was better than the other. We've ordered for pickup one time, arriving 30 min after we placed the order (as advised) and still had to wait 45 min at the restaurant. Oftentimes, staff members can be quite rude as well, with the exception of a couple. I suggest ordering directly at the restaurant, oxtail preferably, and taking it to go. If you have a big order, good luck.

If your looking for Dominican food in East New York Brooklyn/south queens look no further than El Rey. Ive been coming here ever since they opened over 10 years ago and everyone in the neighborhood knows where to go if they want good authentic Dominican food. They carry the full gamut starting from Mangu Pastelitos to Pernil to Rotiserrie Chicken to Jugo de Chinola to Flan. Cant name one specialty because everything sells well but you cant go wrong with the Grilled steak w onions with rice and beans. They have a full bar with every Wine and Spirits you can think of on the menu, I always get a nice Red Wine with my meal They always like to decorate around the holiday season so its nice to stop by and see it. They make you feel as if you are in an authentic restaurant in the Dominican Republic. They have locations throughout the Brooklyn and Queens Boroughs.

Every time that I come to this restaurant, I leave pleased and happy. I love to dine here when I'm in the mood for Spanish food. You can either dine in, order takeout or stay home and place an order for delivery BUT delivery is only for the surrounding neighborhood. Whatever choice you make, you will be pleased. There's a jukebox that has lots of musical selections that you can choose from. Each time that I order food, it doesn't matter what I chose to eat I'm never disappointed with the quality of the food. I love their consistency, the food ALWAYS is good. If you are looking for GREAT restaurant with GREAT food and GREAT service, then your search is over. Get over to EL REY and give your belly a treat.

El Rey is a small, family-owned chain (there's about 5 locations) that specializes in Dominican and Latin American cuisine. Their restaurants are pretty popular and they are very sought after for take-out. I would describe their food as being average; pretty good but nothing special. One winning factor that the restaurant possesses is that the food is very cheap. You can get a large plate of rice, beans, and chicken for $5.50. Some other recommendations from their menu are: mofongo, guandules, mangu, and morir soñando. They also make a mean Dominican breakfast (mashed plantains, fried cheese, salami, sausage and onions). One downfall is that the waitresses are a bit on the snobby side and don't seem to be very interested in checking up on their tables. Just my observation.

I am here to happily add in another well deserved 5 star review for El Rey II Restaurant. The ambiance is also amazing. I had 2 dishes, one of them being Chuletas, both dishes were absolutely outstanding. And employees were extremely polite and helpful. I'm really happy that I found El Rey II Restaurant.

This place has gone down the drain. I usually order 2-3 things from them when I do order but that won't be happening again. 1. The food is hit or miss. 2. They have the most ignorant, airhead waitresses I've ever seen in any place of business. 3. The unprofessionalism on a scale of 1-10 is a 10.5. I've just never seen this type of behavior at an establishment before. It is really shocking. They cannot even answer the phones properly. 4. It does seem that the service is different based on what ethnicity you are. 5. The language barrier is a bit much. You should not pick up a phone speaking Spanish unless you have some way to identify that your callers are fluent Spanish speakers. Horrible, just horrible. I guess nothing will change with businesses that operate at this level until many people stop patronizing. Makes no damn sense!

So since we discovered this place, we keep going back. Its nearby, its convenient, and its open until 2 AM on weekends. It's always hit or miss though. I'm sure the language barrier is a part of the issue. If you try not to stray far from the basics, you will be fine.

I hate this place but since i live on cityline it is the closest place but i would rather go to rico pollo 2 on fulton & crescent. El rey treats their customers shit making them wait forever and the fried chicken chunks are nasty
