El Taco Loco Review - Ballard - Seattle - The Infatuation

"How many times has a sandwich made you pause and think, “how in the good Lord’s name do I eat this thing?” This is the question that all great sandwiches make us ask ourselves, and the “Super Torta” from the El Taco Loco truck in Ballard has us wondering exactly that. It measures half the length of our arm (we have a long wingspan), and comes on a griddled roll stuffed with juicy al pastor, lettuce, jalapeños, and a mix of spicy salsa and mayo that create a delicious hybrid sauce. This torta costs $11 but could probably feed you for three meals." - Carlo Mantuano

Google
Easily the single best Mexican restaurant in Ballard, Fremont and Greenwood. No competition. Fair prices for Seattle, perfect serving sizes, a menu that isn't too large but still has variety. You're getting great food inside a liquor store across the street from one of the best parks in Seattle. Get literally any item on the menu, a bottle or case of something smooth and go enjoy your Sunday.

Very delicious, filling, and affordable Mexican food. The atmosphere is also one of the best. It's not too crowded and is very clean, staff are also friendly. Overall, the place provides good quality food.

Having lived in California for a long time, I really missed good Mexican food once I moved to Seattle. I am SO HAPPY I found this place. Probably the best quesadilla I've had in Seattle hands down. So so so good. And everyone was so nice. Definitely coming back. I got the chicken quesadilla and added veggies.

Google
The place was slightly hard to find as it is located inside a liquor store. The people were welcoming and friendly and later we found out they are very talented at cooking. These were the best tacos I have had since the last trip to Mexico. We had Barbacoa and Carnitas. Initially I thought the prices were a little high, but the quality and service more than made up for it. If you are visiting Ballard Locks, this place is a short 200 feet from the entrance.

Love this local gem! The tacos are my favorite in Seattle, every type I've tried has been amazing. The new liquor store set up is also lovely with expanded seating. I seriously think anyone driving to TacoTime should reroute here! Wonderful friendly staff and service too :)

Google
Definitely the best carnitas in Washington State! This place might fly under the radar (they're located inside a liquor store) but the food is absolutely fantastic. Juicy, flavorful, good portions.

Yelp
The only baby shower I have ever enjoyed had tacos and margaritas. Flash forward a few years, and I was planning a baby shower of my own, and I knew I wanted to replicate the joy of tacos and margaritas for my guests. As an Arizona gal who grew up eating delicious Mexican food, my bar was high, and El Taco Loco did not disappoint. Despite not officially offering catering or large orders when I first inquired, the owners were more than happy to make arrangements to prepare food for my 45-person event. We had carnitas, chicken, vegetarian taco options, and the most delicious red rice and beans. The food came with copious onion, cilantro on the side, sour cream, salsa, and guacamole. The portions were generous, and a week later, we are still enjoying leftovers from our event. The cost was extremely reasonable given the quality and the quantity of the food, and we were even given a portable, insulated cooler/warmer to transport the food to the event (you DO have to return this after ;) ). I have family from Chihuahua, Mexico, and they raved about the carnitas and red rice. We have continued to hear from guests how much they enjoyed the shower - especially the food. If I had it to do all over again, I would not hesitate to order from El Taco Loco again. You can taste the care that this family-owned establishment pours into their food, and I am so grateful they made it possible for me to host the baby shower of my dreams.

Yelp
The best! Friendly staff and the vegetarian tacos are so tasty. Cheesy, savory, with loads of guacamole and super affordable. Our go to for a quick lunch in Ballard. They have moved to a food truck outside of the liquor store just a block away from the previous location as others have mentioned. Closed Sunday

Yelp
First off the flavors are really good- the torta is amazing and giant. It's very convenient; it has parking; the nicest staff of all time. It's all love for el taco loco.

Yelp
This spot is AMAZING. It's easy to miss if you're driving since the sign is covered by trees. They have a side window where you can order and eat on their tables outside. I ordered the beef taco and pork carnitas tacos. They came out super hot and seasoned very nicely. It's comparable to top tier tacos in other cities and is a gem tucked away in this location

Yelp
A perfect stop for fresh quick tacos in Ballard! This place used to be inside the liquor store, but are now running a little truck outside. Tacos were fresh and tasty. It was fun to try a few different flavors. The meats were tender and juicy but honestly the veggie taco was my favorite. The veggies were cooked in cheese that got a little crispy, so tasty! Service was fast and friendly and there was a little area to eat inside as well since it was a cold rainy night out. Just across the street from Edgeworks climbing, so a great place to fuel up after doing that.

Yelp
I moved to the PNW from El Paso, TX almost 20 years ago. I've really missed having good authentic Mexican food. This place has it and at a great price! To top it off the family that runs it are over the top sweet! It pains me that I just discovered this amazing gem in my neighborhood... I could've been eating here much sooner! It's hidden away in the parking lot for the liquor store (eventually it will move inside the liquor store--FYI the female liquor store manager is also really nice and helpful and the store also carries non alcoholic drinks and snacks). I can't eat gluten so I mostly stick to their tacos. I usually don't go for steak tacos--but their steak is amazing! It has a great smokey aftertaste. I can't decide if I like their steak or pork carnitas better--so I usually get 50/50. Both their green and red salsa are amazing!! And they give generous amounts. We plan to go there weekly as a family :)

Yelp
One of the best Mexican places in Seattle. I have tried and been disappointed with so many others, but Taco Loco knows what they are doing. Their al pastor is incredible and their portions are fairly substantial.

Yelp
El Taco Loco moved down the street to a truck outside of the new liquor store location - to 2840 NW Market St. The food and service is better than ever - everything we ordered was super delicious and came out quickly. Can't recommend enough for a inexpensive and tasty meal.

Yelp
This place is terrific - delicious, quick and affordable. As others have mentioned, they recently moved out of a space inside the old liquor store to a truck outside the liquor store's new location (just down the street). Their carnitas are delicious, and so are their salsas!

Yelp
BIG burritos with quality and tasty fillings. We got the steak and barbacoa burritos and they're both amazing. Great service too!

Yelp
Taco restaurant inside of a liquor store - HECK YEAH! Due to covid, they don't have the lunch set deals anymore. Updated menu below, still it is so worth because it is really good. Highly recommend their Al Pastor tacos!

Yelp
best street tacos and they are my comfort food. Gordon D. is a taco-time eater and can't tell gold from shit. they have encaptured Arizona and Mexico tacos in the most authentic way. I love them.

Yelp
The mole is fantastic here. It's sweet and spicy and complex. As good as going to Oaxaca.

Yelp
Have read a lot of Yelp reviews for el Taco Loco, all very complimentary. Been meaning to try them for awhile. Finally had a chance last week to go there. I don't want to rain on their parade but I wasn't blown away. First they only have counter seating on stools in a liquor store and there weren't any other customers. That made me feel sorry for them but the whole environment felt strange. Perhaps getting food to go would be better. Everything tasted good but nothing memorable. Reasonable portion sizes. Nice people but considering we sat just a few feet away from where they were preparing food and there were no other customers, there was no acknowledgement of our existence. Just wanted to eat and get out. I certainly wish them well.

Yelp
Oh man the Al Pastor, so good. The carnitas is also incredible. Had a carnitas burrito and the tortilla was delicious and slightly fried with some of the best carnitas I've had in awhile, perfectly shredded and cooked. El Taco Loco and El Camion. The only two Mexican food places I need.

Yelp
I just had my first meal here since the bus has since expanded to a new location and newly located inside the ballard liquor store, one from the previous liquor store location. This food is delicious, very reasonably priced, filling and delicious! The staff is always so nice. This place is a gem in ballard.

Yelp
Glad to see these guys have a Yelp page now! I've been going on about this food truck since we moved here. The service is excellent, the food is AWESOME. So far it is my favorite taco truck I've been to, and that says a lot. I've become somewhat of a regular there. I couldn't help but give them a shout out on cityonthesound.com due to their excellent service and great authentic Mexican food. I recommend the tacos, burrito express, and the tortas. They also make this amazing soup/broth. A+ La mejor comida mexicana de Everett! Recomiendo los burritos, tacos, y tortas.

Yelp
I was doubtful how the food will be given it is located in a corner of a liquor store. Don't judge the book by its cover in this case. I am not a big fan of mexican food in general but I will be making an exception with this place. The food is tasty. We had tacos, wet burrito and quesadillas. The food counters and stations are extremely clean and we never had to wait for more than few mins for our order. The staff is friendly too.

Yelp
This has to be the best tasting Carne asada I have had in months. I have moved from San Diego about 6 months ago where the fish tacos and asada gets real serious and haven't found anything close up here until now! 5 stars, well marinated meat and decent size burrito for price. I'll definately be back!

Yelp
This awesome, bright yellow little trailer-food truck is right along heavily traveled 112th St in South Everett. Do yourself a favor and swing in their sometime, the food is amazing. My fave is the asada tacos... The. Best. EVER! Super friendly people running it too. Happy to have them so close to home :-)
