We asked at Beck's Boots where to find the best tacos in Amarillo and we were not disappointed!!! My Al Pastor tacos were fabulous. We'll be back the next time that we are in Amarillo.

Stopped in on our way through Amarillo. The outside needs a bit of work, but don't let that discourage you. Between the service and the food it was great. The front was small w/approx. 12 tables. I noticed there was a back room as well, but didn't check it out. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was also really good. We ordered the Chilaquiles Verdes Con Huevos, Asada Tacos & the Guiso Rojo. Also, the homemade tortillas were terrific. Very authentic. At first I thought the portion was so/so, but as I was eating I realized I could barely finish it. We will definitely be back.

Google
Wonderful food. Toss a dart at the menu - you can't go wrong ! Corn tortillas are better than most every other place I've tried. Larger too. Can get busy, and there can be a wait - but it's worth it !

Great place to eat the food is fresh and great flavor every place was cooked to it correctly

I hate to love yall 😐 I feel like since we order take out there isnt much effort put into the meals going home. We ordered a combination fajitas for 2 people and we got enough meat for 2 tortillas and LITERALLY 2 tortillas only. Nobody is ordering that and expecting what you gave them, and the price for it is over charged. Yalls food is good dont get me wrong, but it's like you can only come in to dine in order to get a decent amount of the food your serving otherwise once it's packed and out the door it's not your problem. There were other things wrong as well but I'll leave it at this. Disappointed a bit 😕

Great late breakfast. Staff is very friendly and handles their English well. I really enjoyed my menudo, but remember, it is only on weekends. I got a huge breakfast burrito, but saved it for later, too much great menudo.

Google
This is our favorite Sunday spot! All waitresses are great, but one of our favorites is Cassandra. Some of our favorites to eat is the ceviche, menudo, camarones a la Diabla, carne asada with eggs, beans and papas, carne asada tacos, torta de carne asada, chilliquiles....you can't go wrong! It's so good!!

Google
I'd like to start by complimenting the waitresses. They were very polite and very attentive. The place was very neat and clean and the fresh flowers on each table is a very nice touch. We started with drinks and we got agua fresca de piña. The equivalent of fresh squeezed orange juice but pineapple. It was refreshing. The food was amazing, I had been here before and both times the food has tasted so delicious. The chips were warm and the salsa was perfect. Tacos de Birria, and Fajitas de Trio are really good. The tortillas taste and have the texture as if they're homemade. I definitely recommend you dine at El Tejavan!

Yelp
I enjoy their big shrimp cocktail so much I've never ordered anything else at this restaurant. Delicious! Service is friendly and efficient. A little pricey, but a really good place to eat, especially since there's no sense of being hurried through a meal.

Yelp
Love the ambiance and great food, service and prices. Waitresses were very friendly and helpful!

Yelp
WARNING! Stay away from this establishment. This was the last place I was able to use my debit/credit card. I received a text message from my bank due to fraudulent activity on my card just as the waitress came to tell me my card was declined (yes... I have money in the account). Ever since then my card has been frozen. Spoke to my bank and it seems a tester card has been made with my card number. For your safety and others... please pass this around. There is a shady employee working there!

Yelp
Food is great. Service is quick. My #1 spot to have a bite to eat when driving through Amarillo!

Tom T.

Yelp
Food is excellent, facility is clean. Service workers are hustling and cleaning when not busy. Would give 5 stars except for the RAP music blaring from the kitchen.

Yelp
We were going from Oklahoma City to Amarillo and decided to pick a great place in Amarillo : something we could look forward to after a long drive. We originally chose The West side location but settled on the East side because we were starving and guessed this location would be as good. First of all, the place on a Sunday afternoon was filled with locals. 90% Hispanic servers and patrons. The location is not swank, but it's right off the highway. Good for getting on and off easily. You can park right across from the location in a safe parking lot. Food : Huge portions . Huge. I wish I had shared . That being said I got the Guisado de Res so I could have ordered something less filling as a general rule. Rice and beans were excellent. And I LOVE rice and beans. The beef was very good but large portion, served with homemade tortillas. Also we ordered the large order of guacamole and it was very good, chunky with onion, cilantro, and jalapeños. A couple next to us ordered shrimp fajitas and I wanted to take them for myself before my own food came and if we go back my husband and I will get those. My son got a burrito and even that was great with queso but again large. My other son ordered a quesadilla and was a brat about it. (Kids order but I think it had a tiny bit of guacamole in it so we took it with us) My husband ordered enchiladas rancheros (beef) they were excellent. Also excellent very unique SALSA ---- really. They do not serve margaritas at this location only beer and wine . I wanted a margarita from them only the west side location serves them tho. So I may need to visit them when coming back through. Also fast service and very polite. Follow my on IG @bellacornicello for occasional foodie pics!

Yelp
It was fine, but not great. Other location atmosphere is way better! Service was sloppy. Won't go back to this location.

Yelp
Fast, clean, they had masks on and wore gloves. The tacos were exceptional. The place looked rough from the outside. It was a 10 on the inside.

Yelp
Lots of flies Canned salsa Chips from a bag Mole was good. Carne Asada was bad and THEY REFUSED TO BRING US SOMETHING ELSE?????

Julie M.

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican food at good prices. Sizes of tacos and enchiladas are on the small size but are very tasty! Nothing fancy about this place except the food!

Jeff M.

Yelp
Vegetarians traveling through! My wife and I saw how fresh things looked online and we were thrilled with the service, quality and flavor! Cheese enchiladas with red sauce, rice (no chicken stock) and guacamole salad, chips and salsa.. OMG! Highly recommend and we will most definitely go back, the next time we travel through Amarillo! Thanks you very much to the very friendly staff!

Yelp
Pollo Adobado with corn tortillas! Great food. The chicken was perfect and loved the adobado. The corn tortillas were unique and the best I've had. Unfortunately no alcoholic drinks - a margarita would have earned a 5th star. Chips good and salsa on the spicy edge

Yelp
Fast and good. I had the burrito, couldn't stop eating. I am a vegetarian, so they substituted beans for beef. The rice was delicious. Their mild salsa is on the hot side for people that are not used to hot salsa.

Yelp
Saw the positive reviews for the other location and stopped by here because it was closer on my route through town. It does look like a shack but it's great food. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are complaining about food-wise. The marinated beef tacos are great and a friend announced the Barbacoa was the best he'd ever had. There is a reason the parking lot was full, good Mexican food at a reasonable price. Great spot for lunch if your passing through.

Yelp
I am from San Diego, right across the border from mexico, so I have definitely had Mexican food before. The salsa here was definitely not fresh.. tasted like canned. Flies everywhere. I ordered the carne asada and it just did NOT taste right. I told the waitress I didn't like it and could I get something else? She refused, saying "Thats the way we make it here". When a customer is unhappy and you simply refuse to help fix the problem... thats not okay! Someone else said this is "very authentic" mexican food.. far from it!

Yelp
Don't let the outside scare you away because the food here is great. It was crowded at 2pm and I had to park on the sidewalk next door. I observed the other diners and all seemed to be enjoying their meals as much as I did. I ordered their Carne Asada which came with grilled veggies and the basic frijoles & rice, hand made quacamole, hot sauce & chips. I added corn tortillas which were soft, large and fantastically homemade. The frijoles were tasty & creamy and not out of a can as with some restaurants. The hotsauce is also homemade and had a great spicy taste without being overpowering. The steaks were large and tender. Overall, Great food. I'll be back next time I visit in Amarillo. (Much better than Ruby Tequilla ever thought of being.)

Yelp
They have Birria, great for a hangover which was the case today. Tortillas were hand made.

Yelp
Be aware that there are two locations! We decided to go here because of the nice looking menu we saw on their website, however we ended up at the East location because we didn't realize there were two locations. When we drove up we were surprised because it looked very run down and didn't seem to fit the look of the nice menu. We were at first disappointed because this East location also doesn't serve alcohol so we missed out on margaritas. After the initial let downs, however, the food turned out to be so delicious! Even the chips and salsa were extra delicious! This definitely turned into one of those hole-in-the-wall places that had amazing food!

Yelp
Beef enchiladas 6/10. Mole chicken 7/10. Service is good. I think this is a good restaurant but dining room is pretty average. Queso and salsa is good.

Yelp
We stopped at the location off of 40, on our way through Amarillo. What a treat! Service was great! Food was awesome! I'm so glad we stopped. Corn tortillas were amazing. My husband had the Puerco Guisado w/green sauce... it was delicious! I had the chili rellenos and they were really good. My kids shared the tacos, which were more street taco-ish. The kids loved them! We live 5 hours away, but the kids requested we stop there again, if we ever drive through!

Justine P.

Yelp
Food was good. We went in a good hour and a half before they closed the waitress was nice but felt she was rushing us to order. We don't normally eat here. Food came out in a decent time but b4 close we needed more tortillas and they had already closed the kitchen! The whole experience just felt like we were being rushed, highly doubt we will be back

Yelp
By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Amarillo. I've yet to have a tastier corn tortilla taco with onion, cilantro and fresh lime. Such simplicity is worth celebrating.

Yelp
Came in for lunch as a recommendation for authentic mexican food. Had the lunch special for $6 it was 2 tacos with beans and rice. Seems good enough. Look the food was good, but they were the smallest tacos I've EVER had. Small is an understatement. I needed at least 5 of these tacos to be satisfied.. but not full. I understand it's a lunch special, but the portion was the biggest disappointment. I'm not even a big dude @ 155 lbs.. so i dont need much to be happy. I cant imagine what I would get had I ordered something else. Honestly, I would have been happier at taco bell.

Yelp
Having spent some years in Mexico, I feel that this restaurant is about as authentic as one can get. Sure it's not fancy, it looks a bit run down, but the food is outstanding and the cost is reasonable and the people are nice. If you want "white" Mexican, go to Taco Bell or some other chain. If you want real Mexican come here.

Yelp
Fantastic Tex-Mex. No frills, just good food. Chips are good and salsa is spicy. Corn tortillas are amazing. My chilis rellenos were good. Not the best I've ever had, but good. My girlfriend loved her fat cheese enchiladas, and my dad loved his el pastor. Highly recommend.

Arturo P.

Yelp
one of the best places I have eaten, fresh food ... very attentive people ... thank you to all the team that works in this place ... 100% recommended
google avatar

Yelp
To be fair I get carne asada all the time, and its pretty good. Someone posted "apparently their tortillas are homemade", well THEY ARE, they are the best you can get in a restaurant. The really best ones are served at my house...
google avatar

Yelp
Ottawa Canada to LA stopped here because the parking lot was full. Mexican family restaurant. Fantastic Ceviche unique or at the very least first time for a Mexican Ceviche for me. Elizabeth had the fatitas and I had the enchiladas. Plates were not enormous as expected but were more than adequate.

Yelp
Very authenic Mexican Food. I'm from El Paso, TX and expected Texmex, far from it. I ordered tacos one beef, pork and chicken. The corn tortialls looked home made and fresh. The pork taco was my favorite seasoned very well. I enjoyed the beef as well. The beef was not shreded but were beef chunks the salsa was very good. It came with rice and beans. I strongly suggest you pay El Tejavan a visit.
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
On our drive across country My husband I stopped In this place because we thought it was the other El Tejavan and did not realize there were two. The food was terrible! it seemed as though everything had been frozen then warmed up and brought out, the corn tortillas from the chicken tacos looked like they had even been freezer burned and were gooey in the middle. The rice and beans were clearly from a can or pre made package. Don't make the same mistake we did and be sure to double check the address when looking at reviews.

Yelp
Really good marinated beef tacos. Best guacamole in town- chunky with lots of cilantro.

Yelp
Worst service ever! After a 10 minute wait for our waitress, Ordered 1.99 happy hour margarita that was served in an ice cream glass, which means it had 3 sips in it. Then ordered guacamole appetizer for 5.99 that was bought from wal mart and squeezed out of the bag, I know for sure because I buy that dip, and that whole stinkin bag isn't even 6 bucks. Then ordered chicken fajitas for 13.99 and it had 5 slices of meat!!! oh and the waitress only brought me one corn tortilla with the fajitas! Well no joke one burrito is all I'm making with my 5 strips of chicken! And not to forget the table beside us waked on their ticket because service and food was so awful! But it was amazing how quick that waitress was at the table after they walked out the door!

Yelp
Every time I'm in Amarillo a stop here is a must just for their barbacoa plate (not on the menu $10.99) service could be better, the young waitresses need training in customer service, today I got really bad service from Nena she refused to let me order from the lunch menu because It was 30 minutes before it stars, my coffe and food was cold today and Nena didn't come back to ask if I needed something else, I had to ask for more coffee to another waitress who called her, this is a lil hole in the wall restaurant with good home made mexican food at fair prices but don't expect to be treated like royalty although I've had better service before, my visit was just before lunch and I was the only one there but by lunch time they where full. When I paid the cashier and she asked how everything was I told her I had better food and service before she responded the barbecue plate gets cold right away and it happens to her too, they obviously could use customer service training! I give them two stars just because "I've had better in the past". Hope this review makes the owners understand how important it is to train their employees in customer service and the public to know what to expect if you eat there and hope next time I'm in Amarillo Texas things will go to beter

Mary F.

Yelp
It was simply terrible. My husband ordered chili relleno's which didn't even look appetizing . I ordered what the waitress recommended I believe it was a new chicken dish according to the menu. I asked for vodka and tonic and received a vodka and soda water. They didn't seem to think there was a difference. From the great reviews left by some...I am shocked that so many people from Texas, that anyone from Texas, would think this was even mediocre.

Laura H.

Yelp
My father-in-law, husband, baby daughter and I went to dinner there tonight. All agreed the food was very good and the salsa was fresh and the guacamole was homemade. My f-i-l had the carne guisada and said it was excellent. My hubby had the combo plate, a taco and chile relleno. Never having been there before and having been warned that things might be too spicy for me, I went with something safe: a chicken quesadilla. It was delicious and I enjoyed it with my sweet peach tea. My only complaint of this eatery is that the music coming from a tv playing Hispanic videos was a bit loud. Nobody seemed to mind though. We went early so it wouldn't be packed and when we left people were beginning to file in. Great place!! My husband said he's definitely coming back and I agree with him...

Joshua L.

Yelp
The service was slow, and the queso was very cold. They forgot my drink for 20 minutes. The beef fajitas wee season very well, but the meat was very chewy. I had heard from many people that this place was amazing. I'm not impressed.
