The 30 Best Restaurants in Guadalajara, Mexico | Eater

"When he opened El Terrible Juan Café in 2015, Juan Carlos Yerenas had one simple mission: make a great cup of coffee for his friends and family using the best coffee beans in Mexico. Working to build relationships with coffee plantations in the highlands of Chiapas and Cosautlán de Carvajal, Veracruz, this expresso specialist has grown along with his customer’s thirst for fine coffee. A lonche filled with chilaquiles or a mollete (open-face bean toast) with four cheeses pairs nicely with a shot of Chiapan espresso in Yerenas’s welcoming garage cafe in Zapopan, the perfect pick-me-up before heading to the Plaza del Sol or the Mercado de Abastos. Saw many recommendations for this place so had to try it but it was disappointing to me because most of their dishes had gores of cheese. Still had to atleast try their bacon laced cheese dish. It was way too "cheesy" but enjoyed eating the bacon however my daughter who likes cheese thought it tasted good especially since it was drenched in syrup. The saltiness from and bacon and cheese was balanced with the syrup. One and done for me.

I’d strongly recommend you to try their bacon cheese sandwich! It was really tasty and I loved it. Coffee was also awesome. Would love to come back again!

Nice, clean, decent food, good coffee, decent service. I ordered the Terrible Bacon and Cheese sandwich which was OK. I also ordered two macchiattos whose flavor, body, foam were perfect but the drink was warm (not hot). I may comeback to try other food items, but will make sure to ask that my cortado coffee be hot.

We had a wonderful brunch here. The sandwiches were so incredible that they will never be forgotten. The marzipan coffee was delicious also! The place gets busy and we were lucky to not have to wait for a table at 10am but there was a line up outside when we left.

Their enchiladas were pretty good! We also ordered salmon toasts. The avocados were so fresh and sweet. I recommend this place anyone coming to Guadalajara

Best breakfast sandwich of my life. Something was calling to me when I walked by and it was the savory and sweet bacon wrapped breakfast sandwich.

Not sure why this place is all the rage. Average food, the barista doesn't know how to froth milk. Burnt coffee, slow service.not to mention the supposed "gratineed chilaquiles" have a meager amount of cheese, had to ask for extra, charged to account. They gave us a slice of avocado. Bread is terrible with the English breakfast. Cheap and nasty. Flavours were good. Servers are quick to take your dishes away, but slow at everything else. Meh.

Fantastic spot. The pastries (banana nut bread and date pastry) were fantastic. The brunch dishes were also great. Orange juice was fresh and coffee very well made
