I absolutely love rolled tacos, and when I found out about this place, I couldn’t wait to try it out. Since it was my turn to pick the place for lunch, this was my choice.
It’s located in a rather small strip mall and as soon as I pulled in, I realized that parking could be a challenge. We got lucky as a couple of cars pulled out just as we pulled in. As you walk in the door, you are immersed in brightly colored Mexican artwork with culturally appropriate music playing in the background. I took note of just how clean and neat the place was it was impressive. You’re even able to see into the kitchen and it’s very clean and brightly lit. Only thing I didn’t like were the steel barstool seats. If you have a bony butt, they are uncomfortable.
I ordered four rolled tacos that come with cabbage, guacamole, and pico de gallo and my other friends ordered two Carnitas taco combo with beans and rice, and one just ordered two Carne Asada tacos. The rolled tacos, although the same length as most rolled tacos I’ve had, were more plump and when I bit into one, the crust was really nicely crispy. That is definitely one of my must have criteria for a good rolled taco. They weren’t at all greasy and the shredded beef filling had a nice unique flavor. They’re not the belly bombs I’m used to getting at other fast food, Mexican joints, so I could’ve handled a couple of more of’em. The scoop of guacamole was kind of hidden under some shredded cabbage and pico de gallo, and I didn’t realize it until I had eaten one of the rolled tacos. Next time, and I look forward to the next time, I’ll make sure to spread the guacamole around before I eat those little tacos.
Both of my friends really enjoyed the food they ordered and agreed that the flavor was different from most other Mexican fast food restaurants and different in a good way. And the service was also really good.
The young woman who took our order, was pleasant, helpful and told us to go have a seat and she’ll bring our meals out to us when they’re ready. And it didn’t take very long to get our food, maybe five minutes. The menu is not extensive, just some nachos, rice bowls or loaded fries in addition to tacos, so if you go there, you’re going there for either rolled or regular tacos. But I think that’s what makes the food a little bit better, their focus is on fewer items made better.
