"This cool Roma Norte spot has a front courtyard laid with stone blocks, set with tables, and enhanced by old growth trees. The interior dining area is set a few steps above and is fronted by ivy-wrapped columns and a wrap-around terrace for additional al fresco dining. Inside, the space features wood plank flooring, stucco walls, a bar, and open kitchen in back. The menu offers an abundant array of choices, and the creative items are sparked by an intriguing combination of ingredients. Empanadas norteños is a golden-crisped half-moon stuffed with chicharrón prensado and smoked fish. The zesty octopus stew is topped with bits of crunchy menudo and accompanied by freshly made tortillas." - Michelin Inspector

The 38 Essential Mexico City Restaurants

"Mexico City loves Baja California, and El Tigre Silencioso delivers what Chilangos crave. Chef David Castro Hussong brings his signature cooking to the menu, with homey Baja flavors like a chile relleno taco prepared with pasilla chiles, oxtail with noodles, and tuna with creamy butter, avocado, and a touch of wakame. The portions are small, so order a few starters and mains to share, and expect tons of wines from the best producers in Baja California. The casual menu creates a playful contrast with the restaurant’s European ambiance in a restored turn-of-the-century mansion. The place has been the new favorite in Roma Norte since opening in late 2022, so make a reservation or prepare to wait." - Natalia de la Rosa, Daniela Galarza

Wonderful dinner this evening at El Tigre Silencioso. We had reservations for 5:00 pm, but they weren't necessary as the restaurant had plenty of available seating. El Tigre is located in a beautiful section of Roma Norte. Initially we had a little trouble finding it since it is upstairs and the signage isn't great, but eventually we found it and we're glad we did. We were quickly seated on our server brought us our drinks immediately. We had previewed the menu online so we were pretty much knew what we wanted toght away. We shared the fish croquettes. They were lightly fried and served in a slightly spicy guacamole salsa. Absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the carnitas lechon which were served with avocado, pickled onions, and blue corn tortillas. The pork was tender and incredibly tasty. It could have been a little hotter, but it was still really good. I ordered the fish with capers and lime. The fish was light and flakey and had a delicious flavor. For dessert we wanted to share, but we were torn between the date cake with vanilla ice cream and the figs with mascarapone. We settled the disagreement by ordering both, but we did share. The desserts were to die for and reason enough to revisit this eatery.

Honestly had me wondering what about the restaurant got it the bib gourmand award. The flavor combinations in 2 of the 4 dishes we had just did not go well. The service from the most of the staff was nonexistent. Luckily one staff member (not the waiter) gave a recommendation to round things out with one rec that was unexpectedly tasty (not pictured).

Incredible food. Super nice garden atmosphere. The shrimp taco is insane. Great music. One of my new favorite spots in Mexico City!

Very nice food, a little over priced for quality. Service is great, very fast and friendly but I felt a little pressured by them to order and order, I feel they are salesmen rather than actually suggesting and recommending you the best. The place is really nice with good music and vibes

I would not go back here! Food was horrible tasting, service well aside from our server he was super kind bit the hostess was a huge snob and didn’t even welcome us when we asked to sit inside for warmth. The sea bass was drenched in a soup of red oil and olives, the pulpo was drenched in olives and was the worst flavor profile I could ask for with a side of olive tapenade! Like what??? Sorry not sure why people recommend it here.

Upon arrival the hostess couldn’t find our reservation until my husband was able to do find it on his open table account. After the mishap we made our way to the bar. The service after that was fantastic. The steak was fantastic, cooked perfectly, as was the ceviche. I’d skip the shrimp as it’s mostly cheese and noodles. Really glad we ate here! Fun vibe and great cocktails.

I came to this restaurant really looking forward to the experience — the reviews, atmosphere, and menu had me excited to try it. Unfortunately, the attention to food allergies, specifically tree nuts in my case, wasn’t what I had hoped for. I made my allergy clear when ordering, but the communication around ingredients and cross-contamination felt a bit uncertain, which made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the meal. I understand not every kitchen is perfect when it comes to allergies, but I believe a little extra care and clear communication can make a big difference. The food itself looked great, and I can tell this place has a lot of potential. I just hope they take steps to improve their allergy protocols so future guests with dietary restrictions can feel fully safe and comfortable dining here.

I rarely take the time to write restaurant reviews, but El Tigre Silencio deserves so much better than its current Google rating. This place is seriously underrated. Every single dish that came to our table was spectacular – not just well-prepared, but thoughtfully crafted with unexpected layers of flavor that kept surprising us with each bite. The mussels in particular were absolutely outstanding and a true standout of the evening. This ended up being our best meal in Mexico City, and honestly ranks among the best dining experiences I've ever had. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance – cool and stylish without being pretentious – and the service was exactly what you want: attentive when you need something but relaxed enough to let you enjoy your meal at your own pace. If you're debating whether to try El Tigre Silencio, don't hesitate. The low rating doesn't reflect the quality of what you'll find here. This restaurant deserves to be packed every night.
