The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: March 17 | Eater NY

"An immigrant vendor from San Juan Ixcaquixtla, Puebla, is a few weeks into serving pillowy, flavorful tamales ($3) from a massive pot at a street-corner cart; he’s dishing out four varieties and plans to sell at this corner every day of the week, so it’s probably wise to factor in an extra few minutes on the morning commute. — Nat Belkov, design director" - Eater Staff

Greenpoint Tamale guy is something of an instant legend. Seven days a week he's out selling the best tamales around. Three bucks a pop, always a smile and some great chat. Always sold out by 10am. Take my money!

He is the sweetest guy and makes delicious tamales. I’ve been going every morning and buying like 10! Highly recommended trying him out

Ordered $18 worth of tamales but didn’t have cash. Tio says, no worries, I’m here every day, come back and settle when you can 🥹 Tamales so good. The masa is PERFECT, not too dry. So flavorful they don’t need extra salsa or sour cream. Community needs to crowdfund a few days off for him, he deserves it!

Wonderful local biz! Delicious tamales and owner Jaime is very kind. He went out of his way to provide a large order for an event, and I am very appreciative. The tamales were a huge hit. Highly recommend!

I LOVE THIS CART! The man is so sweet and the tamales are the best I’ve ever had. The mole is my favorite and they are all delicious. They are very moist and have a good corn/filling ratio. Most of the time tamales have too much corn in the front and back but these are filled from top to bottom with well seasoned goodness. A great breakfast. He usually runs out early so get them while they’re hot!!!

The man running the cart is very kind to his customers! This was my first ever tamale, and he gave us another one for free (per his recommendation for red sauce). Great deal at $3 per tamale.

Cannot recommend enough! One of the best tamales in the city for an insanely good price. The guy who runs it is so kind and generous. Support him! Good to note that he closes up when he runs out so good to get there before tenish.

Awesome tamales from a Jaime, who is super nice. Tried the chicken mole and chicken with salsa verde, both were delicious and a bargain at only $3. Will be back many more times! Great addition to the neighborhood, and super convenient to the G train & McCarren Park.
