The 38 Best Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Eater

"Across three locations, El Tsunami distinguishes itself with little touches: The frosty micheladas are served in copiously salted mugs, camarones come by the bounteous chalice, tacos al carbon give off the essence of backyard barbecue, the chorizo is housemade and smoky, and the verde salsa is a frisky emulsification that goes with absolutely anything on the menu (or anything back home in your fridge). A chicken or fish taco is the floor for a perfect meal, but the ceiling is the bistec en chile de arbol, which brings hallucinatory heat and the Speed-esque feeling that you can’t stop. Best for: Lazy afternoons of micheladas and hangover-killing spice." - Todd Lazarski

The representation of the food is very poor. No offense, but my dog has better food. Food: 1.Milanesa Milanesa: 5/5 Rice: 2/5 Beans: N/A French fries: 0/5 2.Butter shrimp, or rather, butter soup. Despite the complaints they did not want to change the plate, Ana's response: That's how it is served. I'm not coming back. I have photos of this one. I was in shock. Btw was frozen Shrimps. I suppose like all the food. I understand that said waitress is busy with the Men, but she should go to a restaurant, cafeteria... I don't know. Let her learn how to attend. Already after leaving work she seeks the attention of men. And yes the price change like is suppose to be 13.99 the Milanesa when I go to pay 14.99 whatever. This place crazy

Omg I love the food. I definitely be back but for grab and go. It’s was too hot in there and we had to leave before we finish our food but still love it. Food is 10 out of 10. Waitress was so nice . Price is good.

Very impressed with this authentic Mexican restaurant. Reminded me of the wonderful food I had in Cuernavaca, Mexico. The restaurant was clean; the prices were very reasonable; the people very friendly; the food came to our table in a timely manner, and all of it delicious. I'll be back.

Google
This place is an amazing hidden gem. By far the best Mexican food I've had in Milwaukee, the portions are very generous, micheladas are great, horchata is great as well. Will definitely come here again.

Came here plenty of times before I used to really like this place. The food is good, but there needs to be something done about the unfortunate people who walk in asking for change WHILE YOU'RE EATING. Which is really uncomfortable. On top of that, one of those guys who came in the day i was there had a NEEDLE SITTING TOP OF HIS EAR!!! I was surprised to see the staff not do anything about it. There were children there eating with their family, who knows what would have happened if that needle fell on the floor and accidentally poked a child. It has not been the first time something uncomfortable like this has happened. I think is really sad I had to stop going cause of this.

Server forgot our tortillas and was on her phone the whole time. My enchiladas were burnt and my dads rice was cold. I felt sick halfway thru lunch so I went to the bathroom but you need to ask for a key. The other locations are better but still mid

I was overcharged by $25 for my meal. I won't ever spend another penny at this place.

Yelp
At a time when going out to eat can be expensive and you're not sure if a restaurant is worth it, this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed. The food was incredible, and the service was excellent. The seating is great also.

Yelp
My cousin and I love to search Milwaukee for the best authentic tacos. El Tsunami did not disappoint. The server spoke only Spanish, but was beyond friendly and trying her very best. We were able to order our tacos exactly how we wanted them with a combination of Spanglish pointing to the menu. I ordered one fish taco, one lengua taco, and one steak taco all with cilantro, onion, and avocado. The lengua was very tender and delicious. The avocado was ripe and the tacos were the perfect size. The limes were a bit dry. The complimentary salsa had a smoky chipolte flavor-- very tasty. I will be back again for more tacos.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday at 4:30pm and this placed was surprisingly busy. There were only a couple tables available but our party of 6 was seated right away. It was a warm day outside but the restaurant did not have the air conditioning on. It heated up fairly quickly inside. Service was prompt and straight to the point. Our table got complimentary chips, salsa, and ceviche. I did wish they would have brought 2 baskets of chips out. The menu is large and there was a great mix of meat and seafood. What really caught my eye was the Parillada Mariscos $29.95 that serves two. A seafood Parillada? Sold. This came with different sized shrimp, crab, imitation crab, octopus, clams, mussels, squid, quesadilla, peppers, green onions, and tortillas. It also came with two plates of rice, beans, and guacamole. There was plenty of flavor in the sauce and I didn't feel the need to squeeze lime all over it. We also got 3 tacos (chorizo $1.75, lengua $2, tripa $2). The tripa was my favorite of the 3 as it tasted meaty and fatty with just a little crispy sear. We shared this among 3 people and still took home leftovers. The portions are very generous besides the tacos as they were the traditional serving size. The rest of our table really enjoyed their entrees as well. If you're craving mexican but want the option of seafood, El Tsunami is your spot! I'll be back soon to explore more of the menu.

Yelp
Wow I've been going past this place and finally stopped in and was very happy I did. I have been here a few times now. Basically a seafood Mexican restaurant. The seafood soup is amazing as are the fish tacos and cheviche. Place has been full every time I've been here so that should tell you something. Prices are reasonable especially for what you get. Menus are in spanish so pull out your google translate app and have it translated if you can't figure it out.

Yelp
Very good food. When the food is this good the ambiance, decor and menu only being in Spanish are forgotten about. Stopped in here by mere chance and was really impressed by some very good food.

Yelp
Horrible seafood. Went there. Paid over 80 dollars for 2 meals. And it was definitely not fresh. Tasted bad. Not worth the money.

Yelp

Yelp
Camarones a la diablo is spicy but yummy! Can't find it anywhere else. Jalapeno wrapped bacon is a must try as well. Service is always great everytime we go here.
