The 38 Essential Milwaukee Restaurants

"Across three locations, El Tsunami distinguishes itself with little touches: The frosty micheladas are served in copiously salted mugs, camarones come by the bounteous chalice, tacos al carbon give off the essence of backyard barbecue, the garlicky house-made chorizo are appropriately smoky, and the verde salsa is a frisky emulsification that goes with absolutely anything. The chicken taco is the floor for a perfect meal, but the ceiling might be the bistec en chile de arbol, which brings hallucinatory heat." - Todd Lazarski

Great spot for Mexican food near Milwaukee airport! The red snapper was fresh and flavorful, cooked perfectly with just the right amount of seasoning. Their ground beef tacos were also delicious! It’s very juicy, well-seasoned, and generously filled. Service was impressively quick, making it ideal for a casual but satisfying meal. Don’t miss their margarita buy 1 get 1 free promo on weekdays. Definitely worth a try!

This is authentic Mexican food, best garlic shrimp I have ever had! I would say knowing Spanish will help here or install a translator app on your phone, also it's great practice for Spanish students. The food came quickly and everything was delicious.

The food here is always excellent. The portions are very generous and all of the team members are friendly and accommodating. There's a wide variety of options included in their menu which means almost anybody should be able to find something to their liking.

The food is ok but the service could be improved.

They don't like black people!!! I will never go back and tell friends and family not to go!! Myself and my wife just get off of work. A friend at work told us about the place. So we went to try Some dishes. Some of my family is in-law enforcement. My mother was an Advocate for equal rights. But it felt like I was in another country. Sometimes I wish we would only advocate for black people. Immigrants no matter what country they come from seems to have a stigma against African Americans.

The overall look of this place is nice, however the food and the service that we had today was absolutely terrible. Out of our party of 4, only one person mildly enjoyed their food. The carne asada taco dinner that my friend and I both ordered were filled with dry rubbery pieces of steak full of gristle. My mom's entree was incredibly dry and overcooked. We never got a chance to tell our server how our food was because she NEVER once came to check on us. She was not friendly at all and could not understand most of what we were trying to order. Throughout our meal, we had to constantly ask other employees for items that we needed. This experience was such a disappointment. We've driven past this place almost daily and finally decided to give it a try. Needless to say, we should've kept driving.

Good food and salsa. We had enchiladas and combination plate with pitcher of margaritas. Margaritas were ok, not strong. Waitress did not speak good english. Fairly busy for a Thursday night. I would definitely return.

They have the best salsa in town. I think it's great that this restaurant is well lit so you know exactly what you're eating. I ordered a seafood melody soup that had wonderful assortment such as octopus that was so tender, squid, Crab, shrimp, and clams...served with saltiness crackers.. They were out of the red snapper so we went with the tilapia for my friend and it was delicious. It came with a special recipe potato salad, salad, rice, and limes. Definitely will go again.
